WiFi stays connected but internet keeps dropping

Hi all
Got a number of wired and wireless devices on my home network, all fed by my BT HomeHub 3.
What I've noticed recently is that both my iPad and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Tab keep dropping the internet connection. The WiFi connection appears to be unaffected. We're also getting issues with other wireless devices, but to a lesser extent as we use those considerably less.
I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of to date. I've done a hard reset on my ipad, reset network settings, restored the ipad, changed the web key, but as I'm sitting here tonight not 6 feet away from my router I'm still getting internet disconnection, whilst still full bars on my wifi connection.
I've already done numerous router reboots, and now considering a factory reset. Any other suggestions? Possibly a faulty router, or too many devices on my network?

OK, full reset done on the HH3.
I haven't touched the Channel seletion at all, and it's returned the following:
Here's the results from my WiFi analyser:
My main WiFi from my router (TvLounge) is showing on channel 6.  I also have another BT HomeHub 2 connected off a PowerLine adapter acting purely as a switch / WiFi access point on channel 9 (OldLounge) and finally an all-in-one PowerLine adapter and WiFi access point on channel 13 (CharlottesRoom).
As soon as I have reset the router i restored the SSID and WPA / WPA2 password to as it was beore. Directly after this, all devices successfully reconnected, and I immediately had intermittent WiFi issues on all connected devices (still connected to the router but loss of internet). At the time I was connected with x2 iPads, x1 Samsung Galaxy Tab, x1 Android phone.  Throughout this time I was still able to connect to the internet via my server.

  • Lion 10.7.3:  WiFi is connected, but internet access is delayed

This issue may be discussed somewhere else here, and if so I'm sorry for reposting this problem.  I have a Macbook Pro bought around June 2011.  I just updated the firmware to 10.7.3  Everytime I wake the macbook from sleep, the wifi connects immediatley, dropbox syncs immediatley, but chrome or safari won't load pages until a couple minutes after connecting.  I thought it may be a firewall problem, and I allowed connections to Chrome, but that didn't fix the problem.  Has anyone else been having issues with internet after the patch?

I suggest you talk to your local college support person.  It seems that internet access might be disabled and you need to get them to help you get it enabled.

  • Wifi is connected but internet has stopped working

I have had my new ipod touch for a week and its been working fine. i had it connected to my wifi network at home with no problems until this morning when it stopped working. the wifi connectivity is fine and works with everything else, and the ipod reads the wifi network but everything i try to poen that needs connection says its not connected. Any suggestions? i tried resetting the network to no avail and even deleted all content and settings but it still wont work any more. i wondered if its possible for there to be a fault with it rather than a software issue. i am running the latest version of everything and my old one as well as my ipad works fine.

Which one did you reset? your iPod's network or the router?
Have you checked the wi-fi configuration? its in the arrow on the right side of the SSID (in iPod), when you touch it, IP address will come out. There are 3 Configurations to choose from,  DHCP, BOOTP, STATIC.
Is your router was set to DHCP? your iPod should have a lease of IP from the router. if its blank or someting like 168.x.x.x, try use the STATIC...just put on your network segment (192.168.x.x) and the gateway of course...

  • Wifi will connect but internet won't work

So my iphone 4 will say its connected to the network (check mark beside network and good signal) but when I try to open a web page/app store/youtube it says "cannot open page not connected blah blah blah" some of my friends iphone 3gs' work no problems. also I'm in Spain and my data roaming is turned off but the cellular data is still on.(don't know if that helps but thought I would mention it.)
    Thanks in advance.
also I've tried resetting the network settings and that did not help either.

OK, that is good information for troubleshooting. Since it works on other networks the problem is either the router or corrupted settings on your phone. The first thing to do (if you can) is to reboot the router. The DHCP daemon in it may have crashed - this is very common. Just unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it in again. Also, if you can, verify that the router has the latest version of firmware available. As to why other phones work it could be that they had connected before the DHCP deamon crashed, and are reusing the original IP address.
Another possibility on the router side is that MAC (Media Access Control) filtering is enabled. This is a router feature that allows only previously approved devices to connect to the router. If it is enabled your phone must be added to the "allow" list in the router.
Finally, on the router side, it's possible that it has run out of IP addresses. This can happen if it is used by a lot of people. It would be necessary to change settings in the router to fix it.
If the problem is on your phone the first thing to try is to attempt to connect, then tap the ">" next to the network name and choose "Forget this network". Then back out of settings and reboot the phone (hole HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds). After rebooting try to connect again.
If this fails next go to Settings/General/Reset and Reset Network Settings. You will lose WiFi passwords, but nothing else. Again reboot and try to connect.
One of these will most likely fix the problem. If one does please tell us which one, and if nothing helps let us know that also.

  • Trying to connect to a known internet connection but i keep getting the response "unable to join network"

Trying to connect to a known internet connection but I keep getting the response "Unable to join network" and the internet is connected, please help.

Okay now this description was pretty vague but it could be a few things. First thing to try. Turn wifi off and then one again and try to connect. If this fails read on.
The second step is to select that network in the wifi settings so you get an expanded menu of it. Follow these steps from the home menu on your ipad... SETTINGS>Wi-FI>NETWORK NAME (you have to click the little blue arrow)> FORGET THIS NETWORK. Then turn wifi off and then on. Then try to connect again. If this fails... well read on,
Okay, so now you really know it's most likely not your ipad, so go on down to your wifi router and turn it off, wait ten seconds, turn it on again. WITH YOUR IPAD OFF. Then turn on your ipad on and then try to connect again. If this fails... Then you'll have to do some more complex things. You could try setting up the network again. IF that fails too. Leave some details about your router, brand, year etc... And I'll try to let you know what else it could be.

  • My wifi is connected but when i try to connect to safari it tells me its not connect it says safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet.. but the wifi is on and connected, i have tryed resetting the network settings

my wifi is connected but when i try to connect to safari it says the internet is not connected, i tryed resetting network system but still no luck.

Your iPad sees the WiFi network signal but obviously it is not connected to the network. Try rebooting your router - unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.

  • Intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work.

    Hi,
I have an issue where intermittently iphone 6 and 6 plus is wifi connected but internet does not work. iMessage works though.  Toggling the wifi setting clears
the issue temporarily but it occurs again.  Running iOS 8.3 now.  This was the case on iOS 8.1 and 8.2 as well.
I have tried the typical troubleshooting steps (reboot/reset network settings/disabling location services for wifi/upgrade/etc)
My router is an EA9200 router with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.  It is configured with all bands with the same name.
All other devices in my house works perfectly fine and has no disconnects (ipad/macbook air/tv's/receivers)
My thought is that iphone 6 cannot handle well the moving around between bands.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Have you tried to reboot your router by turning off the power (you may have to unplug it from the power source), then waiting about 30 seconds, then turning it back on?  This seems to solve a lot of problems.

  • My ipad2 's wifi is connected but i can't go internet. who can help me

my ipad2 's wifi is connected but i can't go internet. who can help me

Check the IP address assigned to your iPad (touch the ">" next to your network name in Settings > WiFi). If it starts with 169 then your router has not assigned a valid LAN IP address to your iPad. It might appear to be connected but you will have no success on the internet.
Sometimes restarting your router by temporarily (30 seconds) removing/restoring power to it will solve this problem. If it doesn't check that your router has up-to-date manufacturer's firmware and test your iPad on some other networks to see if it works properly there.

  • How do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet. other laptops remain connected but ipad just disconnects after about 5 seconds.

how do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet when other devices are connected. Ipad disconnects after about 5 seconds.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

We use one windows machine and two mbp's (post 2012) at home. We have a modem *** router from a  non apple vendor that airport utility finds and connects with absolute ease. But doesn't stay connected. The signal drops often, what can I do?

No, not all network clients -- only the two mac portables and they run together very rarely. The windows machine is hardwired to the modem router combo, and that's always sailing smooth. The mbp that is most used is perhaps 20 feet max from the router - and in another room. But it also happens when I take in into the same room as the router. On occassion, I have noticed while using network diagnostics, that one digit in the IP number sometimes appears to go awry. I then try to set up manually - and it works for a bit but is hugely erratic.
I rigged a hand me down airport express and set up a separate network for the two macs and it ran beautifully for some weeks, but that little piece is now dead and none of the retailers in my suburb seem to have one in stock. I don't want to be forced to buy an airport extreme and here in India, there's no trustworthy online ordering option.
The man from the ISP's been here several times and I don;t think it is a modem/dsl issue because the smartphone connects and the macbook drops when both are the same distance from the router? I am truly foxed and intensely irritated! :-(
