Wifi still disconnecting after closing lid with Lion 10.7.1

I updated Lion, thinking this issue would cease, since Wifi fixes were listed as included in this update.
When I close my mid 2009 MBP lid and later open and log in, wifi is disconnected. I have to open Network Preferences and reconnect. Very annoying!

My sleep is off.
My MBP never did this before I updated to Lion. I have been using this since 2009 and Wifi never disconnected when I went on standby.
I see on the web that this is a common issue with Lion. I was hoping the update would fix this. I tried all of the "fixes" reported on line. None have worked.
I am posting here for help and hoping that Apple will read this as well.

I was hoping that 8.63 firmware was meant also for fixing wifi connection, but after 30 sec of wifi the connection stops working, this happens with every application. i tried with different routers but it doesnt work (and i'm not far from my router)

It's advised to reset the device after a firmware update. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.

MacBook (Lion) doesn't sleep even after closing lid

Is anyone experiencing this as well? I have encounter the same problem a few times now. My macbook would have it's fan keep running even when the lid is closed. Isn't it strange? I haven't had this problem before in Snow Leopard.
In snow leopard, even when the fan is running at 6200rpm, as soon as I close the lid. My macbook would be quiet almost instantly. However, with Lion my fan and processor would keep running. Anyone else? any idea?

All I had to do was turn off my "internet sharing" (System preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing (uncheck) )
and presto, no more closing lid problems.
If your internet sharing wasn't the issue then I don' t know what is.

15-r007TU-Display does not turn on when it automatically turns off after closing lid.

I just purchased hp 15-r007TU, Windows 8.1 x84. I'm facing a strange problem. After all initial setup, I put the laptop on to download and install all lates Windows 8.1 patches. The display is set to tuen off automaticaaly after 5 minutes. After 5 min it did turn off as set. But then I can not turn it back on. I pressed all (except power) keys, used touch pad, closed lid and opened but it stayed off. Laptop was on and running as I could see HDD lights flickering, I could hear system sounds on pressign mute/volume keys, also I could toggle WiFi with key. I then pressed power off key to turn Windows off normally. I did turn off. I again turned it on, I could see 'hp' logo with spinning wheel and then nothing. Display is off and I don't see start screen. I have to hard reset (press power button for more than 5 seconds) then display is normal. This happens every time the display turns itself off automatically after set time or I close the lid. Only after hard reset it works normally and I see the start menu.
The power settings I use are:
1. never put system to standby after preset time. (either on battery or AC power)
2. turn display off after 5 min. (both on battery or AC power)
3. when I close lid - do nothing. (both on battery or AC power)
4. when I press power button - shut down
I am using Windows 8.1 x64 with all latest patches installed. BIOS updated to lates available. All latest drivers installed.
I have not yet set password to the system to log in.
Help would be immensly appreciate. The device is still in warrenty if it needs to be replaced.

I understand the computer will not sleep when you shut down the lid. You seem to have already done most of the troubleshooting I would've suggested.
To be honest, it is either a hardware or software-related issue. To determine this, I would like you to reinstall the operating system. It will clear up any software conflicts and allow you to start fresh.
First, please ensure you backup your files. Here is information on how to do this: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8)
Once this is done, it is safe to reinstall the operating system. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
If the same situation occurs, the computer likely has faulty hardware. At that point, please contact HP phone support. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide

PowerBook hangs on waking with closed lid with 10.4.8

Hi,
Since updating to 10.4.8 (PPC combo), I have the problem that on plugging in USB mouse, keyboard, DVI-screen and the power plug with the lid of my powerbook 12'' 1,5GHz SD 80GB closed, the external screen awakes and shows a blank blue screen. No mouse, no further reaction. Disconnecting everything, the pb falls asleep again, but is not accessible after (awaking on opening lid with all connections off shows black screen). I have enabled the security option that you have to provide your user name and password to access the computer.
This happens occasionally, also with a VGA screen, with or without ethernet connectivity. The only thing that seems to work is to force quit the computer!
The strange thing is that it worked for all other 10.4 versions before. It seems to me that the log-in window is not loaded...
Is there anybody experiencing the same problem? Any work arounds?

This isn't really a hack, or even an intentional thing, but it might be a solution.
I noticed last night that when I closed my MBP lid, it didn't go to sleep. Not only did the light not start blinking, the system was still up and running on my external monitor. I did a restart. Tried again, with no external monitor. Same thing. No sleepy.
I then turned off all 3rd party software in my login items. Sure enough, went to sleep. Turns out it was Temperature Monitor, a program that checks the temps of your sensors. I had had the HD sensor set to check every 10 seconds, so they couldn't go to sleep. I am not suggesting this is a good idea, but it might work for what you want it for, at least now and then. I removed it from my login items, re-set the frequency to every 10 minutes, and it slept fine. I want it to sleep when the lid is closed, to avoid the chance of overheating it, which is probably why that setting is not included in the OS.

MacBook Pro won't turn on after closing lid & fully charged. Help!

I have a MacBook Pro from June 2008, I have been using it all day, this evening it was fully charged and I left it on with the screen open - by the time I came back the screen was black ( I assumed it had gone to sleep) I closed the lid to take it upstairs to discover that when I opened it the power light was not on. When I press the power button nothing happens, but if I hold the power button for around 5 seconds the light stays on, the laptop sounds like it is trying to start up but then dies. I have tried the smc reset, but it has not worked. Also tried taking the battery out and trying this with just power adapter. Does anyone have any clues to what is wrong? Or do I just take it into the apple store?

Wifi gets disconnected after sometime while watching youtube on iPod Touch.

When I'm watching video on youtube, the wifi network suddenly gets disconnected after some time.
Even when I goto settings->wifi, I'm unable to find the wifi network.
However, at the same time I can find the wifi network and am able to browse internet on my laptop and mobile phone. I get the wifi network back, on when I switch off wifi and switch it after some 2mins of time.

- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Does it happen with other networks?
- Next would be to restore the iPod.

Wifi Auto disconnect after 5-10 of sleep.

Here's my technical data:
Iphone 4s
iOS 8
I connect to wifi and lock my phone, after 5-10 minutes of sleeping the wifi auto disconnect.
To test this, I tried sending a LINE message and as expected, I didn't receive the message.
Is this a problem with the OS or is it normal for wifi to disconnect automatically?

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You may have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
* No data is lost due to a reset

Task manager says LR 2.2 still runs after closing - really?

Wondering why, a good while after closing LR2.2, the task manager says LR is still running as a process. I've closed the application normally from the GUI, nothing in the taskbar. Much smaller footprint, down to say 100mb from "really up and running" footprint of >750mb.
If real, what is it doing?
I'm suspecting this may be why I have problems ejecting a portable drive w/ Vista saying "drive in use" when I don't have a "visable application" on the desktop that's attached to the drive for anything. Without an explicit "eject," I'm hesitant to disconnect the portable drive without taking the machine down (a drag). Running LR2.2 64bit on Vista w/ 4gb ram. (runs quite well in general). Thanks for comments.

I copied the previews completly over and deleted the whole preview folder. After that it seems to be much speedier. Only from time to time it hangs up, but only every 10 attempts or so.
So far, I think your answers helped.

Laptop won't wake up after closing lid

The laptop won't wake up after closing the lid. It hasn't happened before. There have been no updates or changes for a day or two. The power button light and the fan are on, the caps lock key is flashing, and the wireless light is orange instead of white, like it is when powered up. I have tried ctrl-alt-del, every fn key, the esc key, the pause key, and every comination of keys that made any sense and many that didn't. I tried disconnecting the power, removing the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds. I tried leaving the battery out while disconnected from power for 24 hours. I have looked at different forums for clues, but haven't found any help.
My next step will be to remove the hard drive to get the data, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

You can try this step as it will restore the power schemes back to the defaults.

Next you can try this.
Go to start run
Type command prompt
Right click on it and run as administrator
Type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes and press enter.
You could also do a restore to before this started to happen. HP Notebook PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore
The next step would be to do a recovery back to factory.

During the recovery you will notice the option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not already done one, now is a good time.

You also have the option to contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your sytem to find and resolvie issue for you.

Wifi connection lost after sleep in mountain lion

tried deleting all known networks and wifi services and reconnecting, but there is no improvement.

I was having the same problem after upgrading to mountain lion.
What i did was in Finder went to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and deleted all the networking plists (refer screen shot). Then restarted the Mac and in Network Preferences reconnected to my WLAN.
That solved the problem.

Wifi frequent disconnecting after updating to 6.1.3

Few days back I updated my Iphone 4s to 6.1.3. From that day my wifi was disconnecting frequently, This problem started when I am using skype or face time.(video calling).

Why are Illustrator CC 2014 dialogue boxes dropshadows still visible after closing.

Hi,
Has anyone experienced this behaviour before?
Seems to be the dialogue boxes that appear in the centre of the screen when opened from the Control Bar.
They also remain visible after closing AI. See image below.
Computer specs:
Dell Precission M6700
Windows 7 Professional
64-bit
Illustrator CC 2014 1.1 Release
Any help in resolving this frustrating bug would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Bought a new grafic video card AMD FirePro AND a new monitor. Didn't help. Tried asking Adobe, no luck sofar.

My iPad mini has problem staying connect to my wifi after I connect. It seems like after a long period of non usage I have to connect o my wifi again where as my iPhone stays connected

Try #5.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

With Windows 7 (64 bits), Firefox still open after closed

Hello,
I am running Firefox 3.6.8 on Windows 7 (64 bits).
When I close Firefox, it stays open and you cannot reach it.
If you try to start Firefox again. It refuse because another occurence is running.
The way to solve is to close the running occurrence using the task manager.
