WiFi Suddenly Stopped Working

ver since I've owned the 3Gs, the WiFi has been working fine, and I had not experienced any issues with it as has been reported. However, tonight it suddenly stopped working.
I can still connect to my network. However, the phone won't keep a lease. I've tried configuring it with a static ip with the same result. I've also tried resetting the network settings. We have four computers that connect without issues to the wireless network.
Has anyone else experienced this particular issue? Any ideas or suggestions?

I haven't experienced this personally. I do know there's an issue in OS 3.0 that may prevent users from connecting to Wifi networks; the other side of that bug is that users may connect but will have 1 Wifi bar, even if they're in front of the router.
I'd say reset the Network Settings (Settings > General > Reset) and see what happens. Be aware that upon connecting to your network again, it will ask you for the encryption password so do have that ready. If that doesn't work, as always, you can perform a Restore through iTunes; however after that restore, be sure to select the "Setup as New Phone" option. Restoring from previous settings will copy that "bad" preference file back over. Perhaps before restoring it, try simply restarting the phone.
Oh, and before you do the restore, perhaps you may want to hop into a Starbucks really quickly. As iPhone users, we get free Wifi there, and it may be a good place to see whether the iPhone can hold the connection.

is there anything else I can try first?

If the technician at the shop is competent, he has given you a diagnosis that should have identified the problem.  You could run the Apple Hardware Test to verify the findings:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257
Note the Apple Hardware Test is not definitive.
Go to the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com web sites.  They have parts and installation instructions.  To install an Airport card is fairly easy.

• G555 - WiFi suddenly Stopped Working

     Hi everyone!
Well. I have a G555 Laptop (Broadcom WIFI adapter).
Yesterday, i was browsing the web and then wifi came out.
I dont know
Hi Everyone!
I have a Lenovo G555 Laptop with a built in Broadcom WIFI Adapter
Yesterday i was using it normally and suddenly the WIFI Networking stopped working.
I have the Latest Windows 7 Drivers for the WIFI Adapter
The Button on the front that enables/disables wifi and bluetooth is ENABLED
Also, i have a Dual Boot on the Laptop with Ubuntu 10.10, and the problem also happens there, so its not a configuration / drivers issue.
The Weird thing is that the Adapter appears installed both in windows 7 (Device administrator) and in Linux (lspci)
I have also checked the Mini PCIE slot where the WIFI adapter is attached and it seems to be OK..
So, what the f**k is happening?
I would appreciate any advice!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I have fixed it clearing the CMOS.
Thnaks.

• Wifi suddenly stopped working at particular locations.  How do I fix this?

I have an iphone 5 that will not connect to particular wifi networks anymore...even though it had no problem connecting before.  It works at my home, school, and public networks, but it stopped working a week or so ago at work.  No one else has any problem connecting.  The network does require a password, which I know is correct.  The IT guy at work tried resetting the router and I've reset the network settings on my phone multiple times.  I talked to someone at the Apple store who said there was nothing wrong with my wifi or connectability and that I should update everything on my phone, which I did.  Unfortunately it did not make a difference.  The really weird thing is that it is doing it to my MacBook as well...which also had no problem previously (although the MacBook will not work at one of the Panera locations either...works at all the others, just not that one).  When I mentioned this to the person helping me at the Apple store they said the two devises have nothing to do with each other.
Thoughts?

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

• Wifi suddenly stops working???

My WiFi was working fine up until a couple days ago. I have tried just turning the iPhone off and on, and completely rebooting as well. I am using an Apple Extreme wireless router which my computer connects to just fine. I also tried it at my Dads house who also has a working Apple Extreme with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

On your phone go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings and see if it helped

• IPhone 3GS suddenly stopped working with wifi in only one location

This is the situation.  I have an iPhone 3GS and it the wifi suddenly stopped working at my house (just with the iPhone).
I have an Airport express (latest generation) and a time capsule (1st generation).  All of my devices (except a PC laptop which isn't much of an issue, and the iPhone) cannot connect to it.  The devices I have are as follows: Apple TV, iPod Touch, iPad 2, the "new" iPad, a macintosh computer.
However, when I move the Airport express to my work location, and plug it into the ethernet there, the iPhone works totally fine.  It seems like the issue is just at my house.  The Time Capsule works intermittently sometimes; random devices cannot connect to the network sometimes.  The airport express seemed to fix this problem.  I have read that this problem is related to the operating system "Lion" but the network was working fine for months and months after I have upgraded to lion.  Sometimes both devices cease to work, and there is no internet to any devices in my home.
The network is password protected, so that removes the possibility of neighbors connecting to the network.  The name of the network contains spaces and "symbols" which I have heard is an issue for PC's trying to connect to networks.  Both my home and my workplace are on the same internet provider.
My questions are:
Why does the airport express work with the iPhone at my workplace and not at my house?
How many devices can a 1st gen Time Capsule handle at once?
If I buy an airport extreme, will it fix this issue?
How can I fix this?
I have restarted the device several times (both the iPhone and Time Capsule) and it still didn't fix anything.

Using the delete all content and settings option is not restoring the iPhone. Using the delete all content and settings option does exactly that - all content and settings are securely deleted except for the firmware, which is not a restore.
If you do this followed by re-installing an app via the iTunes sync process, the app settings and any data created and stored by the app will be lost. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not stored with the app on your iPhone and is not stored with the app or synced with the app in your iTunes library on your computer.
3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is stored separately from the app on your iPhone and is included with your iPhone's backup which is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
Restoring an iPhone with iTunes completely erases the iPhone first followed by the firmware being re-installed. After the firmware is re-installed, you are prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection. The other selection available is as a new iPhone. After either one, this must be followed by a sync with iTunes. If you restore from your iPhone's backup followed by re-installing an app that stores data you need to access, the data will be restored with the app. If you restore as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup followed by re-installng an app, the app settings and any data created and stored by the app will not be restored with the app since you didn't restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup where this data is stored.
If you restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup with no change, you can follow this by restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup to recover the 3rd party app settings and the data created and stored by the app along with all other data included with your iPhone's backup.

try this.
get back into your router's settings and start deleting devices that are not connected to your router.
you can also delete the ones that are connected - they'll connect again.
on the DHCP side of it, increase the amount of users that can connect/log in to your router.
see if that sorts it out for you.
good luck.

hi

Since about 2 weeks ago for no apparent reason, the internet on my iPad suddenly stopped working (when I open Safari, it says: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet"), even though the Wifi icon in the top left corner still shows full signal. However, I noticed when I went into Wifi settings (Settings>Wifi) that there is no checkmark next to my network name (only the spinning circle icon, as if it's trying to process something). This only happens at home (I can browse the internet while connected to  Wifi at university). My other Apple devices (MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S) work perfectly fine at home.
I've tried resetting my router, restarting my iPad, resetting Network Settings on my iPad, and tried following Hynes' instructions on this thread:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2453187?start=15&tstart=0, but nothing has worked so far (although I have to admit that I found the instructions on that thread somewhat confusing, so there is a chance that I accidentally did not follow them properly).
Could someone please help? It'd be VERY much appreciated.

• Wifi has all of a sudden stopped working Iphone4

The other day i was browsing the net and my wifi all of a sudden stopped working.
I went to turn it back on but it just kept loading.
Sometimes when the wifi does turn on its for 5 seconds and turns off again.
Ive tried "reset network settings" and "reset all settings" turning it off and everything. Forgeting it then trying again.
But it still wont work.

If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone, try restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
If no change after that, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

• Wifi has suddenly stopped working. There is an exclamation mark which takes me to network diagnostics. This asks me for network name and password. This is different from the startup wizard which only asked for a WEP key and modem name. What to do?

My wifi has suddenly stopped working on my iMac, after working fine for almost a year. There is an exclamation mark on the wifi bars and when I click it, it takes me to a network diagnostics page. This page asks me for my username and password for the wifi, which I don't have. It is different from the WEP key and modem name, which I originally used to set up my connection. I have not experienced any problems on all my other wifi-enabled devices. Ipod touch, iPad, MacBook all work fine. What should I do?

The name is the name of the network you created on the router. The password is the WEP password. You shouldn't be using WEP at all, as it's insecure and also seems to cause connection failures. Use WPA 2 Personal. If your router doesn't support it, get a new one.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
A stale or corrupt kernel cache
A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model. Memory that is either slower or faster than specified may be incompatible.
The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

• HT204368 My Bluetooth just suddenly stopped working with my vehicles factory system. It's worked for almost a year with no issues. My wife's phone will easily paid with the vehicle,so nothing has changed with the vehicle. What gives apple?

Why would my bluetooth suddenly stop working?

I have had non-Apple Bluetooth devices simply stop communicating after being paired with a device for a year or longer with no apparent reason. The solution was simply to pair the device again.
An explanation is likely to be elusive, resulting only in manufacturers of the devices blaming each other for deficiencies either real or imagined.

• Ethernet suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason

My late 2011 MBP is usually functioning as a desktop with external display and keyboard/trackpad, so I have it connected via ethernet when it's on the desk.  However, my connection suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason.......... BUT clearly not a router problem as there's no problem with the wifi connection.  System Preferences > Network > Ethernet is telling me:
Status: Connected.  Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet.
Dunno how this happened, as to my knowledge I didn't actually do anything to cause this problem, just randomly stopped working.  Any solutions much appreciated, thanks :-)

• IMessage suddenly stopped working!

If someone could please help me figure out how to get my iMessages back I would be VERY greatful.
I have been living in Thailand using my American phone without issue for 3 months now. Yesterday, my iMessages suddenly stopped working (this is how I contact many friends and family). It is partially working - it sends messages from my "appleid" which is my college e-mail address that I no longer have access to, and many people I communicate with do not have. How can I get it to send/recieve iMessages using my phone number again?
When I go into Messages, and iMessage, and type in my id, it says "waiting for activation". In the meantime, I can still send/recieve messages using my email, but not my phone number. I have tried rebooting my phone, resetting network settings, resetting all settings, and nothing seems to work. I am constantly connected through wifi, and I cannot figure out the issue.
Please help!!

• Mic suddenly stopped working

Okay so. I have a Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 headset which has been working great since I got it a couple months ago, well today it suddenly stopped working skype says my mic is muted and it's not, I can hear myself through the headset which means it's on and at least working but apperently it's my computer that's not picking it up and I have no idea what it possibly could be, I'm on Windows 7 btw.
Also skype kept moving the mic volume thing all the way down but I don't know if that's related at all.

When I make a call my mic doesn't work. Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing problems. Skype is slow and often won't even hook up. Tried my wifes mac with same result, my blackberry phone same result. I've become aware of how dependend on SKYPE i am.
