Wifi Sync and mac sleep

My 2011 Mac Mini is usually asleep. Will wifi sync wake it up and then shut it down after? I am using a time capsule for the router and the mini is wired. Would it work any different if the mini was on wifi?

Are you running Lion on the Mini?
If so, perhaps try having "Wake for network access" selected, as per the following document:

Recently i unchecked the box i tune wifi sync and try to connect my i phone using the usb cable provided. Now my macbook cant detect my phone, help!!  I cant sync my phone anymore....

The update did not do anything.
AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.

  • IOS 5 Wifi Sync - When Mac wired to router but there is a wireless network

I can get WiFi sync with iPhone 4s to work when I turn on WiFI on my mac and select the same network the iphone is on.
Since my Mac is wired right into the router (apple time capsule), would I have to turn on wifi on the mac to have it sync automatically?
I have a 50mb down connection and I get great speeds so I plug mac right into the router. Would turning on wifi on the mac and selecting the same network the iphone connects to slow my mac downloads? Or does the mac know that its wired (even if i turn on wifi) and use that as the connection out to internet?
    Thanks.
Also, does the 4s connect to N networks? It doesnt show up in available networks on the iphone.

  • Wifi Sync and MacPro Systems

Wifi sync sounds like a great feature, but my question is, will it work with my mac pro that doesn't have a built in wifi card?  Will the new devices and iOS 5 be able to use my homes wifi network to get files to my mac pro?
    thoughts?

  • What exactly it the difference between iTunes Wifi-Sync and iCloud Backup?

Okay, i do not yet have a mac, only an iPod touch, but am (hopefully) buying a mac soon (MacBook Pro to be specific). I buy all my music etc on my iPod, and am currently use iCloud sync which i have all the buttons in the ON position. Anyway, i am rather confused after reading alot about the two methods of syncing there exact differences. When i get my mac can i use both- for reasurance or do i have to choose one? Also, does iTunes wifi sync my photos and videos (thats photos ive taken and videos ive made/filmed) and does iCloud do this. Also if i use both photostream and iCloud/iTunes for my photos, will that create double ups of all my photos?
    Thanks

Wi-Fi sync works in the same way as syncing over a USB cable, albeit more slowly, and can be used when your iTunes library can see your device on your local network.

iCloud backup saves the settings and documents from your apps to the cloud instead of your own computer. It seems you either backup to your computer or to iCloud, but not both, at least not on a regular basis. You may still be able to trigger a local backup manually when using iCloud for backup.

Photostream operates independently of either of the previous features to move your pictures to your computer and other iOS devices when in range of any working Wi-Fi connection.

  • Whats the difference between wifi sync and icloud?

Good afternoon...am a little confused about syncing over wifi with itunes and wirelessly with icloud.  Right now the computer I sync my devices with is an older macbook that can't be updated to Lion.  I am confused though by wifi sync ability...does my macbook have to be up and running while my ios devices are powered to sync or will the devices sync anywhere to the icloud?   Since my macbook can't update to Lion will I still be able to take advantage of this icloud goodness?  My macbook is not my main computer but it has all of my itunes content and playlists.  Hope this made sense.

My first question is this: Have your devices all been updated to iOS 5? Assuming they were running 4, then updated to 5, all your data should be on the device. From here, if you were to sync everything to the cloud, all your data will be in the cloud. It will take all the info from your devices and sync it to the cloud. However, make sure on each device you choose what you want to sync, because it will pretty much make everything the same accross all your devices. Obviously your classic isn't going to be included, so you will still need to sync that, but with the phone and the ipad, you will need to decide what you want to sync between the two. I don't own two separate devices, so I don't know exactly what the conduct between the two is, but be carefull when syncing them to the cloud.

  • Wifi Sync and Windows8

    Hello everyone,
I've been having a problem with iTunes wifi sync feature. It hasn't been working since iTunes 11 was released and my devices upgraded to iOS 6.0+.  The only time iTunes recognizes my iPhone or iPad 2 is when they're directly connected to my desktop. Is there any way to fix this? Could this be related to iTunes running on a Windows 8 machine? I've read through multiple posts about people having problems with this, so I'd appreciate any help in fixing this!

  • Mountain Lion - iTunes WiFi Sync and Remote Stopped Working

    OS X Mountain Lion 10.8
iTunes stops connecting wirelessly to both my iPad and iPhone with no settings changed on any of the three devices. Only change made in the last 2 hours was enabling of Photo Stream on the iPhone and iPad. Other than this, I have fiddled with no settings on my computer or on the iPad or iPhone.
    - Home Sharing is ON and active. WiFi is working on all three devices and all are able to access the internet.
    - All devices on the same network.
    - WiFi sync is enabled on both devices in the iTunes settings, but both disappear upon being unplugged
    - Remote is unable to find to my iTunes library on either device, and I am unable to access Home Sharing from the Music app on either device.
    - No firewall settings have been modified at any given time.
Why is this happening? I have turned Photo Stream off on both devices since this stopped working, but it's made no difference. What has caused it to stop? This is so annoying...

I saw a tip elsewhere to go into Keychain Access and clean out any saved passwords that relate, even preipherally, to the Exchange account in question.   I did that, and now it seems to sync all calendar events.   This may be a coincidence, or it may not.    You decide

  • How can I delete my old Laptop from my iPhone (iTunes Wifi Sync) and connect it to my new Laptop

    HI;
I have an iPhone 4S Factory Unlocked, up to date (iOS 6.0.1). I connect it to my Laptop named "The Love" via USB and opend iTunes and checked Sync over Wifi to enable this feature. Everything works great.
After a couple months I sold my Laptop and bought a new Laptop named "Raid", I did the smae steeps, connect it to my new Laptop via USB and opend iTunes and I checked Syn over Wifi to enable this feature and hit Apply, also I did the sync via USB cable and it works fine.
Now I want to sync via wifi, so I went to General --> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync --> here my iPhone still showing "Sync will resume when "The Love-PC" is available", Okay I sold it!! What I will do! I stock! does this mean I will need to find my old Laptop and buy it back????!!!!
I tried to do those steeps over and over, same result, my iPhone stock with the my old Laptop, It seems my iPhone liked my "The Love" Laptop
    My question is:
How do I delete this setting? and connect it to my new Laptop?
    All the best;

Well " even if I plugged it via usb" I meant that I did all the spteps, connect my iPhone via USB, Open iTunes, Check on Sync this device via WiFi, click on Sync, Unplug the iPhone.
Again I DO NOT HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE USB OR SYNC MY IPHONE THROUGH ITUNES VIA USB
I HAVE AN ISSUE TO SYNC MY IPHONE VIA WIFI (WIRELESSLY), THAT IS MEAN SYNC MY IPHONE WITH ITUNES WITHOUT USING USB CABLE.
    check this video:

  • Wifi Syncing and Backing up

I just purchased an iPad Air 2 and the age old problem turns up here too.........  It doesn't connect via wifi unless i turn it off and restart it or shut down iTunes and restart it.  WHY????  This continually happens.  Then, once connected and a successful sync should I have to go back and do something else, I get the "looking for iPad/iPhone" messages and then it eventually stops and boots one or both..........  This is maddening.   Should not have to go continually thru this.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks

You are downloading the update to iOS 5 and that would have to be done within iTunes on your computer using a WiFi network. The 3G service on the iPad is not being used for this or are you downloading some way that I've never heard of?
There is no way that it should take 18 hours so something has gone wrong. What stage are you stuck at? What does the iTunes progress bar indicate?

  • Usb music peripherals and mac sleep mode

I have a novation impulse keyboard and a scarlett 2i2 connected directly to my iMac via usb. They seems to stay awake even when the Mac's asleep.  Is this usual and, if so, do I have to disconnect them before putting Mac to sleep? If so, do I do this simply by pulling out the usb connectors because there are no desktop icons to eject?

  • ITUNES WIFI SYNC PROBLEMS (MAC MINI)

Hi Guys recently purchased a mac mini & loving how good it is compared pc.
I had iTunes on pc but transfered all music etc to mac mini & setup iTunes from scratch. Synced IP4 manually no probs & I then went in & ticked the option to sync this IP4 over wifi.
When I then try to sync over wifi on IP4 it says its looking for my mac mini but doesn't find it & also IP4 isnt showing in iTunes either (as it did when I used to do it on my pc).
My wifi is definitly working & connected on both mac mini & IP4. Could it be to do with an the pc that i used to sync it to being on the same network?
(I have updated Mountain Lion & Itunes to the newest versions & IP4 to ios6)
    Any advice would be appreciated.

You may be getting interference on your wifi. Mountain Lion has an inbuilt tool to help with this
