WIFI Sync with iPhone 5

Hello - I used WIFI sync with my iMac and the iPhone 4S without any problems for a longer time. Since upgrading to iOS 6 and the change to iPhone 5 I have serious problems with the WIFI sync. The iPhone will not be recognized in iTunes (10.7), I have to restart iTunes for getting it recognized, the sync is slow and usually stops if music must be transferred. iTunes hangs then often and must be forced quit. The syncing via USB cable works fine. I find similar problems with my iPad 3rd gen.

After 6.0.1 is out things went from bad to worse. Still the WIFI sync is more than unreliable in my setup.

First you need to check that your current Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Specs:

If it does... then you need to Purchase and Install the Snow Leopard Disc,
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
( It should be noted that Apple will send paid MobileMe members the Mac OS X 10.6 DVD for free.)

  • Trouble setting up Wifi Syncing with iPhone 4

I'm trying to set up Wifi syncing with my iPhone 4 and when I disconnect the cable the device does not remain under devices on iTunes. This means wifi syncing is not possible.
    Any ideas what's going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Rhys

First you need to check the box 'Sync this iPhone over WIFI'.
Connect your device to your computer, select our iPhone under 'Devices' on iTunes left Pane.  Then on right Pane, scroll down under 'Summary' tab to check above box and click the APPLY button on the lower right window.

  • ITunes 10.7.0.21 Wifi sync with iPhone 4S

    Hi,
Sine IOS6 upgrade my iTunes 10.7.0.21 does not detact my iPhone for Wifi sync.

What can I do to solve the problem ?
I connected the iPhone through USB, disabled Wify sync, restart, enabled Wifi sync, restarted and iTunes still does not find the iPhone.
    USB sync works.
Is there something I am missing to do ?
    Regards,
    Jerry

I'm having the same issue, running 10.7 and with both a new iPad and an iPhone 5 (both running iOS 6). Windows 7 64-bit FWIW. Also of note, it was working with only minor hickups on the most recent version of 10.6 (although sometimes iTunes wouldn't "recognize" my iPhone or iPad), and I've told the firewall (Symantec Endpoint Protection) to allow the wifi MAC addresses for both iDevices. Hopefully this is fixed with iTunes 11, although syncing is less and less relevant.

  • Wifi sync with iPhone quit working

It was working fine until I ripped a couple of CD's into ITunes.  Then the wifi sync quit working.  My iPhone 4 IOS5 simples has a line that says "waiting for iMac".  It does sync fine with the USB cord so it's only a bother to get out the cord.  Probably shouldn't complain but it is curious that it did work fine and then just quit.

Well, it seems like I fixed it by enabling port forwarding in advanced, enabling zero config in device directory, and then restarting both devices. Not sure exactly what it did, but now I can wifi sync. So I'm pretty happy!

  • Wifi sync 2 iPhones in one iTunes with different Apple-ID's.

Wifi sync 2 iPhones in one iTunes with different Apple-ID's. My Phone will show up in iTunes, my wife's wont. After plugging my wife's phone into my Win 8.1 pc and check Sync over wifi, I hit the eject button, could this be the reason? Or might it be the different Apple-ID's? If the answer is the first, is there any way tohave iTunes forgetmy wife's phone so I can addit from scratch?

    Ello,
I know this, but thats in the past now sadly. The question is: Why wont my wife's iPhone show up in iTunes via wifi?
Is it because I pushed the eject button? And if so, is there any way I can make iTunes forget my wife's iPhone and *** it from scratch again?
Or is it because the phones uses different Apple-ID's?

  • How do i tell my iPhone 6 to wifi sync with a new macbook? my last macbook got fried by the cat and I cannot access it

My lovely old macbook running Snow Leopard got fried by the cat.  My new iPhone 6 plus still wants to wifi sync with this dead macbook and how do i tell it that i've now got a new macbook running Yosemite?  It's greyed out on the phone sync page and although i've authorised this new computer I don't know what else to do.  I don't have a back up from the previous computer - the phone was restored in December when I upgraded.

Have you tried getting your old computer repaired, or did your Snow Leopard completely fry it? See what I did there.
If you can, try and scavenge the old hard drive and try and boot from it with Boot Camp (you will need something so you can connect the hard drive to your computer with a USB). A quick Google search will tell you how to do that.
That way if you can get on to it, you can tell your iPhone not to sync with your old computer (which you would be running on your new computer) and instead tell it to sync with your new computer.
I hope this isn't too confusing for you (no offence - I mean my writing, not your knowledge).
    Thanks, Charlie
PS. How exactly did your cat fry your old Mac?

    Hi there kushfromgbr,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
    About SyncServices

    OS X Mavericks
OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. These include iCloud, CardDAV servers, CalDAV servers, and servers that utilize the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.

Having the same issue. Iphone 4 at 5.0.1, Itunes at 10.5.1 iMac at 10.7.2. Synch session fails to start either wi fi or USB connected. Don't know if it is related, but since turning on Match the Music app crashes on the iPhone. No problems on iPad 1, though

  • IPhone 4S won't do wifi sync with iTunes

I can't get 4s iPhone iOS 6 to do wifi sync with iTunes on my Mac Pro.  Running Lion on Mac Pro and latest itune version.  Current with all app and software updates.

No, the front screen has never been replaced before but I'm starting to think that the display connector might still have moved a little, I'll try and open it today.
    Thanks.

  • IPhone 4S not wifi syncing with Macbook Pro (2010, Mountain Lion)

Subject pretty much says it all: I can't get my iphone 4S to wifi sync with my Macbook Pro (2010, running Mountain Lion).  All relevant pieces have been updated (latest OS on laptop and device, latest iTunes, etc.).  wifi sync did work at some point but now simply won't; the device does not show up in iTunes, and trying to manually start a sync from the device just leave it looking for my laptop forever.
A little Google digging did make reference to trying to kill "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" and restarting iTunes.  I have noticed that AppleMobileDeviceHelper is not running...should it be?  I've even tried manually starting it and it doesn't seem to work.  I dug through Console looking for references to it in logs and didn't find anything.
    Any suggestions/ideas appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Wifi Sync with iTunes has stopped working

I have a MacBook Pro running on 10.7.2 and have iTunes 10.5.
My iPhone 4 has recently stopped wifi sync with iTunes on my MacBook Pro , the device only shows in Itunes when i sync via the cable.
I have reinstalled iTunes 10.5 on my Mac and have restored my I phone's software and firmware to no avail.
    Does anyone have an answer??

Do you have the ACE Mega CoDecS pack installed? I saw that as the problem somewhere, and uninstalled it and that took care of the problem. I had just re-installed before having that problem and had every single codec installed rather than just installing a certain filter that I was needing and it was affecting Quicktime, which in turn was affecting iTunes.

  • Can you use wifi sync with multiple libraries and multiple devices

    Hi all
Does anyone know if you can use wifi sync with 1 computer, 2 libraries and 2 devices?
I have my wife's iPhone synced to 1 library and mine to another library but on the same computer. Will wifi sync work this way or do you need iTunes to be open to the correct library for it to work? As I know you can't have 2 instances of itunes open on the same computer.
    Anyway thanks for any help

I have been looking more and more into this and it appears no.
You need to have iTunes running on the computer to enable it to wifi sync. You can use 2 devices on 1 library but if you don't have all the right options ticked you will then end up with each others stuff on each others device.
To enable wifi sync you need to have your iDevice connected to the same wifi network as your computer and iTunes open on that computer.
With my library open it detected my wife's phone and started to sync. Hasty push of cancel sync button lol.
There is a guide on here somewhere about multiple devices with 1 library which I can't find at the moment that tells you which options to tick so only your stuff stays on your device the the other half's on their device.
Its basically tick 'sync only ticked songs and videos' under summary of your device
Under apps take tick out of 'automatically sync new apps'
Then under edit->preferences click device and click prevent i's from syncing automatically
I think you should then be able to sync both devices to 1 library with mucking them up too much
Hopefully please correct me if I'm wrong
I have tried not doing the last step and asking it to open itunes automatically when phone is connected but this does not work with wifi sync
Have fun hopefully someone else can give us a better answer
