Wifi tethering issues z1 compact

I am having issues with my xperia z 1 compact. I recently purchased the handset from a friend who was using 3, the phone is unlocked as I am using my ee sim card with no issues.
When I try to tether my laptop to my phone it will connect but I cannot get any Internet access, I have tried with multiple laptops and a different phone with the same result. My 4G signal is pretty constant aswel.
I have also tried putting my sim card into my old HTC one s and managed to connect to the Internet while tethering to my laptop.
So this leads me to think there is an issue with the phone. I have contacted ee and they can't put a finger on why this is happen happening either.
Can anyone help me with this issue? Has anyone else had the same or similar issue?
I have tried changing the apn and I have defaulted any vpns on my phone.
Thank you in advance for any feedback.
Regards,
Dan.

  • Wifi Connectivity issues - looking for insight

    Hi everyone,
Given the breadth and variety of wifi-related issues on this forum, I was hoping to find a topic that resembled the issues I am currently experiencing. Alas, I was unable to find a solution.
Recently (I noticed on Friday, Dec 18), I have been unable to connect to the internet wirelessly through AirPort. For months now, I've been connecting without problems to my work wireless network (WPA2 Enterprise), and home wireless network (WPA2 Personal) but only recently have both suddenly stopped working. My initial diagnosis was that it was related to a recent software update that I allow OS X to deal with weekly, but if I recall correctly it was a *Java-related update*.
The symptoms, if they might be of use, are as follows:
➔ Airport can see any available wireless networks, secured and unsecured
➔ Preferred networks it can connect to automatically, it will say it's done so (ie. Airport's connectivity icon at the top-right of the screen *shows 4/4 bars for connectivity*, clicking on the wifi icon shows a check mark next to my work network, which is secured)
➔ When I open Network preferences, the Status (using Work network as an example) reads "Authenicated", with subtext "Authenicated via PEAP (Inner Protocol: MSCHAPv2) with a connect time that appears to function normally (ie. it isn't resetting unless I turn off airport and turn it on again)
➔ While the status reads "Authenicated", the Airport icon at the left side of the Network panel reads "Not connected" with an unpleasant red globe clearly signaling that despite the right side of the panel's deceptive text, I have sweet nothing
➔ *Other forms of network connection do not seem to be affected*. Currently, my iPhone is connected to my MBP via USB and is allowing me to write this post via Tethering. I have not tried an Ethernet connect but I would assume that it works at this point.
➔ my computer hardware should be displayed with the post's meta-information
I would prefer a solution that isn't "just update to Snow Leopard," but I'm open to and grateful for any advice offered. I have tried solutions such as this one (http://jkontherun.com/2009/12/13/macbook-firmware-update-kills-my-bluetooth-wi-f i/), but with no success. Simply turning off AirPort and turning it on again has also not been successful.
Thanks in advance. If I can answer any more questions that might assist with the problem, please don't hesitate to ask.

That has to be one of the best written posts describing the problem. Nicely done.
The first thing I would try is to go into System Preferences->Network (under Internet and Wireless) and then select Airport on the left pane. Once there, select the Advanced button on the lower right side.
There, you should see a listing of all the wireless networks your computer has remembered. Delete them all. This will clear out all the stored network settings for each network you've joined.
Once you've done that, rejoin your home network. Then go back to the advanced tab and make sure that the TCP/IP settings are correct and you've been assigned an IP address. Then check the Proxies section. If you do not use proxies, make sure nothing in there is checked (you probably don't use them at home).
I would also try a wired ethernet connection. If that behaves in the same manner, then the issue is somewhere else. If not, then the problem is isolated to the Airport card and may require a trip to the Apple store for further help.

  • HP Slate 21 Pro: WiFi connection issues

    Hi,
I recently ordered two HP Slate 21 Pro devices. Unfortunately, both of them have WiFi connection issues. After some time the properly configured WiFi connection will be dropped, which results in connectionless devices. The WiFi AP is disabled after this, and so a timed reconnect will not succeed.
After inspecting the Logcat I found following lines:

    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

    That really shouldn't affect it.
I'm a little stumped because I haven't seen this issue with this device before. The only similar issue I found was this, and it's unresolved.
Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the Slate 21?

  • Wifi disconnect issue w new Mac

I bought a new Mac about a week ago.  Right away I started experiencing wifi disconnect issues.  I called customer support line and they had me reset the eprom.  I don't recall the key sequence now. The problem went away for a week but has now returned.  Is this a hardware quality issue?

right my friend, you know this is not an uncommon issue with mac, all my macs have the same issue (macbook, mac pro, mac mini and older imac), i disconnect the wifi and reconnect to sole the issue. it depends alot on what you have thats goign on around you, if there is a lot of wireless networks in your area then this might cause the issue. i improved this problem using a time machine and set the wireless to 5ghz only - it helped. i also bought an airport express to strengthen the network and touchwood this is a rare problem for me now!
try moving the modem around in case it this - ensure its not on the floor or touching the floor, there are many tips for improving modem connections look on youtube
however the sequence for this is on

  • Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?

Is there a fix for the wifi connectivity issue after ios6 update?
Cannot connect to any wifi since update to 6.0.1
How do I get update to 6.0.2?
    Will that even help?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

You forgot to describe the 'issues' but there are no viruses that affect Apple OS X.

  • WiFI N issue on iphone 4

    hello
Lost of persons have constated a Wifi connection issue with iDevice on WiFi N mode. This problem involve connection lost or data connection lost event if the iphone already have an ip adress. I've tried in my wifi router different channels, 40 mhz bandiwth mode, 20 bandwith mhz mode. Iphone wifi connection work sometimes but it's a weak connection (good signal, ip adress still connected but no data transit between). So i have to switch the iphone to air mode and back to normal to retrieve a wifi connection working for 10min.
I can't send music via airplay to my airport express too. Air port detected, but send no music on it. Disable WiFi N mode to G mode work perfectly with airplay on AE. Wifi data working a well without any issues. The problem seems last iphone/ipad ios, because lots of poeples have these problem in many different brand wifi router. Some guys said there was no problem on previous iOs version (4.3?).
Hope this bug will be fixed in iOS5 to improve WiFi 802.11 N mode.
    Cheer

HHi I had the same issue my husband went back to using his iPhone 4, I have the iPhone 5 and a iPad and mini. I couldn't set the wifi on his iPhon,
This is what I did and what my be the issue everyone is having.  The iPhone 4 works with a 2.4 ghz radio frequency all the new products work with a 5 ghz. If you change the frequency in your router the IPhone 4 will pick up your wifi. the only problem is that once you change it all your other pproducts will not pick up the wifi connection. I'm going to continue to change the frequency until they all work, will keep you up dated.

  • Where is the Lumia 800 wifi tethering?

    Hello
About two months ago, there was a lot of buzz on the net about "lumia 800 gets wifi tethering in the next update"
Well... Am I missing something important on my phone or is the wifi tethering still not there?  I could use it, especially since Joikuspot is not available for this phone.
    Thanks
    Dieter

I keep asking the same question and never get an answer from Nokia, I cannot believe they do not know this. I purchased this phone after being told it was already available by the salesman. I purchased this on a higher contract so that I could get rid of my mobile dongle. I am now paying for both each month. This has really put me off Nokia, jut wish I was wasn't stuck with it for an 18 month contract.

  • Worth buying a MBP right now??   (Are WiFi/router issues being addressed?)

I was planning to buy a new Macbook Pro, and then I began reading about all the wifi connection issues. Is Apple working on a fix for this? I am no techie and the thought of having to debug a router configuration so that I can get my MBP connected to the internet is not appealing. What is the status of this issues, as of Dec 29, 2008? (I plan to use my MBP downstairs via a wireless connection to my PC upstairs that is cabled into the wall and uses a cable modem. I'll buy the router for the PC when I purchase the MBP.) Thanks for any input!

If you look at various update description pages, you'll see Airport is addressed for certain reasons:
    10.5.6:
Improves the reliability of AirPort connections, including improvements when roaming in large wireless networks with an Intel-based Mac.
    10.5.4:
Addresses AirPort reliability issues with 5GHz networks.
Addresses AirPort issues that may result in slower performance in Logic Studio or MainStage.
    10.5.3:
    Improves 802.1X behavior and reliability.
Improves reliability when using Time Capsule.
    10.5.2:
    Improves connection reliability and stability
    Includes 802.1X improvements.
    Resolves certain kernel panics.
    10.5.1:
Allows password-protected accounts on AirPort Disks to show up on in the Finder's Shared Sidebar.
Resolves an issue with saved passwords for wireless networks.
    10.4.9:
Adds support for WPA2 encryption in Network Diagnostics.
Addresses an issue with automatic AirPort connections that use different authentication methods.
And then there are all these Airport downloads:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#airport
Suffice it to say, Apple hasn't been standing still. One problem is, neither has the industry, and 802.11n is still a draft standard which no one company seems willing to settle on.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.11n
Until everyone does, networking will be a constant cat and mouse game with wireless.

  • I plan to buy an HTC wildfire, will the wifi tethering connect my ipad2 to internet

I have an iPad 2 wifi version only, I plan to buy an HTC wildfire phone will the wifi tethering connect my iPad to Internet?

If your carrier supports a the mobile hotspot feature on the phone, it should work fine. I've used both an HTC Incredible and and HTC Thunderbolt with my iPad.

  • Can iPhone 4 operate on WiFi and be a WiFi Tethered Point at the same time?

I hope this has not been discussed before and don't know why someone would want to do it other than to check your tethered setup is working. Just looking for a technical answer.
I used my iPhone 4 on my local WiFi network and set it to create it's own WiFi tethered data access point with different password encryption. I was then able to log into it with a Windows laptop using the iPhone's WiFi. When I downloaded something from the Internet, the 3G usage did not increase, only the tethered usage increased.
I was told that as soon as tethered data is used, it will use the 3G connection. The counters do not indicate this is happening. There was no change in the 3G counter even after refreshing it, but the tethered counter increased as anticipated.
    Is this operation possible?

You seem to understand it. I believe that when you tether, you have a separate allowance (I believe mostly it is 2GB) aside from your normal data balance. When you tether, it automatically uses the 3G to tether, not the wifi and the data will be subtracted from your tethering allotment. When you use data on your phone, it is subtracted from your normal data allowance (the pool not reserved for tethering) but only when using 3G. If you are on wifi on your PHONE (not tethering) it won't subtract. Hope that sort of makes sense.

  • IOS 6.1.3 hav'nt fix wifi greyed issue

i just restore my iphone 4s with the latest ios 6.1.3 but still can't fix the wifi greyed out issue .... why Apple how long should we have to wait ? PLZZZZZZ do something i fed up with my phone .... from ios 5.1.1 i got this issue still not fix in 6.1.3 .... why r u playing with us

    Lawrence,
My 4 and 3G never suffered the WiFi disabled issue with any version of iOS they ran (I didn't install 6.x on my 4 yet) and I have yet to see it mentioned about any device older than the 4S, which for the record was released 10/7/2011 (a year, 5 months and 13 days) ago
As regards the WiFi chip overheating, I agree that is possible. Said device uses a BCM4330 for WiFi and BT, vs BCM4329 in the 4. A little searching reveals whilst the 4330 is in use in other non Apple devices, there doesn't seem to be any report of the chip overheating, though there may be other factors in the design and / or the processing load that iOS 6 places upon it that contribute to it doing so.
I doubt the replacement 4S handsets Apple is handing out are in any way different hardware-wise (posts suggest they're just handing out 5.1.1'd 4Ss) so with the same hardware/software combo it's probably just going to happen again when people update to 6. Is it right to say nothing on it and keep selling them?
