Wifi throught my curve

Hy,
IS there any way to use my blackberry's wifi connection. I want to connect my pc to the internet. I have a wifi connection with my curve. So is there any way to connect my pc to the internet throught my bb.My phone is connected to the  pc by an usb cable.
Thanks for any reply

Yes, you will need a data plan to access the BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser.  This is why I sent you the link to the other thread.
You can also see the information in this KB article (see cause/resolution #1) Unable to connect to Internet
Let us know how it goes and keep coming back.

  • WiFi issues with Curve 8530

    Hi,
I am having major WiFi issues with my Curve 8530. Everytime I connect to my wireless router, it takes a long time to connect to BIS, and then if I try to use basically any data at all, my router drops my Curve 8530. Sometimes it stays connected, but I cannot use App World at all, and email, and web browsing is all over the place in terms of speed, sometimes it is fast, while sometimes it is slow, and most of the time it stalls while loading a page. How do I configure my router for use with BIS and have it not drop my Curve 8530 everytime I use data over WiFi? BIS works perfectly over my cellular carriers network, so BIS is activated on my device. I have tried giving my BB a static IP, but that did not solve anything. My router is a Netgear WNR2000. Also, I have the latest device software installed on my BB, and all of my apps are up-to-date.

    Hi,
Have you had any luck and resolving your problem?
We have a similar problem but it's with iOS devices where only one can connect at a time. We have about 10 that need to connect. All other laptops and tablets connect fine.
Power cycling the AX411 fixes it temporarly.

  • Enable Cookie/Wifi connection for curve 8900

    Hi,
Anybody know how to enable cookie for curve 8900? I've tried clearing cache history already but no luck.... I can't access to gmail, hotmail and yahoo mail due to this error.
Also, would you have any idea if this is related to the error 65 when I'm signing in to windows live messenger and yahoo messenger?
I'm also having a problem connecting to Wifi, it can detect the wifi network but won't connect, anybody know hot to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Kim

    Hi ninarollaine,
Do you currently have a BlackBerry data plan with your wireless network provider? Some network providers requre you have a BlackBerry data plan to browse, even when on Wi-Fi.  I would recommend contacting them for more information.
    Thanks.

  • WiFi for Blackberry Curve 8520?

For the longest time, I have been trying to figure out how to get the WiFi option to work on my Blackberry. I have tried to set everything up according to different forums and seeing if it would help, but nothing seems to be working. It always seems to refer me back to the settings/options. Can anyone help with my problem?
    Anything would be greatly appreciated

Hi Vivian, Internet by wifi on blackberry is a miracle to work. Some routers  (I think a lot of..) don't work with blackberry.. but.. the true is.. blackberry wants that you pay data plan service.. but try do this:
    1. go to mobile service . .active data plan menu.. if you don't do this you never get IP address from DHCP server from wifi router
    2. try again to connect the wfifi network

  • WiFi setup

I have the same problem. I am at my home with an unsecured wireless network, my BB recognizes the wi-fi but will not allow me to connect and surf the web. We have an iphone and samsung handsets and both are simple to hook into wi-fi, but the BB, not very easy. If one can't connect at home, what hope is there at hotspots or in public? Its simple things like this that push me away from BB devices. My wife uses our Curve cause she isn't concerned about wi-fi but the other 3 members of our household won't use it cause it doesn't work!!

    thanks for the reply guys..
That's what I was thinking, I should setup my routers as LAN-WAN, but I already tried several times, it would not work.
I thinks there's something wrong with my configuration in Linksys E2500 router.
    Here's the details:
Our company gave me the details
    Gateway/DNS: 10.142.117.113 /28
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.240
    DHCP Range: 10.142.117.112-127
I tried to configure in cascade using Linksys E2500 router as LAN-WAN.
If I change the IP address of the router to 10.142.118.113, the gateway/DNS would change also, so, no internet or different network.
Is this really possible in linksys E2500 router?
or What IP address and Subnet mask should I use in E2500 linksys router to have LAN - WAN setup?
thank you very much for help.

  • .bbb; "tasks" and "memo"; Curve 8520; Playbook

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and a BlackBerry Playbook.
Short context: Destroyed phone but salvaged the SIM.
    Curve was synched to Playbook.
Playbook contains thesis information that I NEED to recover: Specifically, “tasks” and “memo” items.
Used BlackBerry Desktop Manager ver. 7.1 to backup Playbook bbb files.
Ver. 7.* of software will let me specify “organiser” function to isolate the files I need.
Uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled…yadda yadda yadda…  various archived versions of the software tried, but none work.  Currently have active on PC ver. 5.0 – PC is Windows XP).
Have tried to recover the Playbook data in .bbb file.  Have tried BlackBerry Backup Extractor (cannot find *any* files).  Have tried “PhoneMiner.”  Have tried “Magic Berry.”  Have also tried renaming .bbb files as .zip (all “copies” – not the original backup file). 7-Zip recovers .tar files, but all refer to applications.
So…I’m thinking that in the ver. 7.1 of the software, it might not have actually backed up “memo” and “tasks” files.  However, ver. 5.0 doesn’t seem to recognise the Playbook.  When connecting Playbook to PC, I am prompted to upgrade software from the “Playbook directory.”
So, BB Desktop Manager ver. 5.* doesn’t recognise Playbook.  Version 7.* of BB Desktop Manager gives me the error message
But, in so doing, the software (ver. 7.* of BlackBerry Desktop Manager) doesn’t allow me to specify the “memo” and “task” in the “Organiser” tab.  Instead, I get an error message, and the prompt to www…/docs for support.
BlueTooth is not yet reconfigured and set up (but I am having a great deal of difficulty setting up the WiFi on my Curve, despite manually entering PSK when autodetect fails) but I am in no rush about this as I have not yet synched Curve with Playbook.  I’m afraid that the Curve will overwrite the Playbook (and purge the “memo” and “tasks”).
I am making the assumption that the files are still on Playbook, but I can’t confirm this as a) BB Desktop manager using versions that recognise Playbook will not let me specify “memo” and “tasks” files in the “organiser” function, b) there has been no synch yet with an “empty” Curve.  There has been no auto synch either as lauching “memo,” for instance, on Playbook, prompts the search for a connection to the Curve, which it cannot find.  Once connection is established, will Curve automatically overwrite the Playbook files effectively deleting “memo” and “tasks” files?
Bottom line is this: I need to get “memo” and “tasks” from Playbook.  How can I ensure the retrieval of “memo” and “tasks” files?
Sorry for “too much info” as I wanted to offer as much as might be necessary.
Sincerest thanks for 1) reading this post to the end; 2) considering my issue; 3) offering a solution, and 4) offering a solution that works!

    Woops.  Sorry forgot this detail.
    I have a new Curve 8520 -- not the Curve 8520 destoryed.

  • Curve 9320 intermittent strange cursor behaviour

I bought my wife a Blackberry Curve 9320 for Christmas on the Three UK network.  All went well for about 5 days, when coming out of standby using the button on the top, the cursor could only be made to moe within the app icon area, not first her up to message notification or network areas.  Also, pressing the trackpad button or any keyboard button had no effect.  I had for restore to pulling the battery out.  i put the battery back in after a few minutes and hen it restarted everythinng was back to nomal.  Approximately five days laer the same thing happened, with te same 'cure'.
is this a known problem (OS info in sig) or is there some action I should take to resolve it?  I'm sure my wife's patience will run out soon if I don't find fix permanent fix.
    Thanks for any help.
    Colin Begg
Blackberry Curve 9320 on Three UK
    OS 7.1 Bundle 2039 (v7.1.0.714, Platform 9.49.0.76)

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Curve Sound Problem-Any Ideas?

I've got a Bold, my wife has a curve. Whenever I talk to her, (her using the curve), it sounds really horrible, muffled and like she's using a can and a string.  I can't even understand half of what she says.  Now she is telling me it isn't just me, she has been told by some of her clients the same thing.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank You

    Hello jasonetc,
I would consider reloading the software for her smartphone. You can do so using the following process:
How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software using the Application Loader tool
Be sure to backup the device before completing this process and test it before restoring any data.
    Cheers,

  • Arbitrary disconnexions of the WiFi

Hi everyone, I have a slight problem with the WiFi on my curve 9320 : when I'm connected to my personal wifi network, my device regurlary disconnects (about three times per day) and especially during the night. It sometimes becomes impossible to reconnect to the wifi or even detect any network. I've checked and it's not a problem with my box.
I precise that I made an update to an os non-officialy supported and provided by my carrier. However, I don't remenber if problemes have started since that update.
Thanks in advance and apologizes for the english if there are any mistakes I'm French!

Ipad, wifi stops working and I have to restart my iPad and log in again.  It only stays logged into my wifi for a short while then it drops it again.  I followed instructions from other threads to reset my IPad and my router...still having issues.  The same thing happened the last time I updated my IOS.

  • This is getting old

First, I want to thank Rosa, the tech who helpe me fix my wife's Blackberry Curve so it was able to complete the system update. And she was a multi-tasking machine as she also addressed my issue with my DroidX.
What I am writing here is in no way, a reflection to the Tech I mentioned above. This is an issue I am still having with my DX. My first one was perfect. Except when it through itself into an endless boot load with the Droid Eye during the Froyo update and it throwing itself into 1X all.the time and having no data transfer. Since then I have had the same issue with the 3G dropping out. But with different issues on top of that as well. For instance, my next one sent to me also had a camera button malfunction - it wouldn't register the keypress/keystroke. That got sent back. I got another. That was having the same issues plus it rebooting itself and acting weird. Almost possessed. That was sent back. I got another. That one - same issue pluss when I go into the Android Market, I would download something ( i.e. Informed ALS Field Guide which I have had for a while with no issues) and the download would drop off. And disappear. As if the download was not even started. Alsong with some "meteor" action while I select icons on the screen and try to type. That one is going back. And the replacement I have now has the same issue with the 3G dropping off with no data transfers STILL. It dropped on me 3 times while trying to type this. And this one is unreliable with the screen selections. i.e. I press on the top right, and a totally different spot on the screen is selected. Sometimes across the the whole thing. And I noticed that the charge slot is quite loose. None of the other ones were this loose. The cord will pop out if I am not carefull placing the phone down to charge. God forbid if I try to use it while it's charging. Because I will deffinately pop out then.
Which brongs me to an other gripe. Why the hell am I going to get a "certified "like new"" phone (especially after all tbis) when I BOUGHT THE **bleep** THING OUTRIGHT. I didn't buy it with the discount. I bought it full retail price. If I buy a package of Pringles® and I notice something wrong and take it back, they will exchange it for a new one. Not an almost full container that was not completely tampered with. I'm just about ready to do to this phone what the old lady did years ago in the Discount Tire Co.™ commercial - throw it through your window to return it.
Before people start saying all the crap about " well, are you in a decent area?", "try switching around some of the settings," "maybe it's an app that is causing the problem?" and other rediculous things, let me me frank and clear. It would happen after a hard reset with nothing but stock apps and system settings. And I was in the Military. I know about characteristics with electronics like this and know my way around this type of thing. And I know that sometime unexplainable weird ju-ju happens with things. Hell, I've seen a piece of equipment power itself on with no remote wired in or no equipment around that had it's frequency. But this is several phones now. And I am extremely frustrated and **bleep** off about it.
This is just strict theory, speculation, and hypothesis on my part here. But I think that it may be something to do with the phone not being able to handle the slight fluctuations in the frequency and signals. My wife's Curve would be side by side with my DX in the same spot and my 3G will drop off completely while hers either has a normal SLIGHT fluctuation but handles it very well, or no fluctuation at all. And when I have both phones going to the same web page, mine will (when 3G drops off) will sit there for a very long time if not forever still trying to load the page (with no arrows either, mind you) while my wife's pbone goes right to it. And it's really sad when you take into consoderation the specs of this phone compared to her Blackberry Curve 9330. This this is supposed to smoke any other 3G phone - 1GHZ processor, at least 512MB RAM, total around 40MB (being modest) available storage. And that's not getting into other spec aspecs and ratios. But her pbone would have a tendancy to get to the page first and have it loaded before mine. Mine would still be outside smoking a cigarette and then come inside to have a cup of coffe. But then decide to take a nap. Which is rediculous. Because WHEN this expensive paperweight decides to hit on all cylinders, it kicks everything else in the junk. And then points and laughs. But unfortunately the performance is unreliable and as predictable as a schizophrenic at a noisy and busy shopping mall exhibiting signs of suicidal idiations (SI's).
Anyone want to go "Droid Golfing" with me? I've been itching to see what this does when struck with my driver.
But if any VZW supervisor actually read this in it's entirety, Rosa did go above and beyond to help me get my wife's phone to push the update on her phone. And she deserves A LOT of kudos for that. Especially because I was "that call." The one any representative dreads. You're watching the clock and you're getting excited because its 5 minutes before your shift ends. You can feel it. You can taste it. Almost freedom when all of a sudden your call light comes on. But then it ends up being that complicated situation that takes an hour or longer to resolve. And she even maintained her patience with me and made sure her job was done and done right before she let me go.....that is before I fumbled my phone and inadvertently pressed the end button ending the call. While I was in the middle of explaining something no less! But she did try calling back and at that point my DX decided that it was done working for a while because I didn't know she tried calling back until ten minutes later when for whatever reason I decided to turn my phone off and then back on again. And then I looked up at the top of my screen. And there was a voicemail. From her still trying to make sure sure it was still updating properly.

Have you tried updating roaming by calling *228 and #2, this usually helps with this situation.

I have to agree the plug is to loose and kind of a pain at times...I use my dock to avoid this..

I would guess this is because the device is coming from another source other than manufacture and do to the guidlines of the warrenty Verizon serves as a middle man to cover the device under Motorola policy... Also even if you dealt with Motorola they would most likely replace with a remanufactured device which is the same as a "Like New" from Verizon.  This is a common practice these days.  Not saying its right but is in the guideline of warrenty.

After 2.2 update there was a new feature option under Settings / Privacy / Automatic Restore that has been causing a number of issues to continue to return on several device because this option restores system settings that usually caused the reason for hard reset, it is wise to disable this to avoid this issue...  I had one device replaced because of this before I identified this as the issue.

It is hard to compare two different devices signal by the number of bars because the device displays information for signal from a calibrated source that the manufactured programmed to their specs and this can cause the number of bars vary from device to device.  I have had devices that gave perfect reception during calls when the device only showed one bar.   Just something to take is consideration.

Comparing Droid X (Full Version Browsing) verse a BB with a mobile base browsing experience will always be slower because the mobile version disables all animations or unoptimized data and also do not forget that flash requires additional time to render but the full version requires more resources.

  • In China and in need of advice

My wifi on my curve has been working perfectly for the past week, as i am using my school's wifi (I am studying abroad for a semester) to instant message and email, but today it said it was connected as the blackberry logo appeared beside the signal strength (which is fine) indicating I should be connected to the internet. but when i try to connect to instant message it says "Connection Error (65): Problem receiving data from the server." And my emails do not send through. I have taken out the battery and reconnected to the wifi several times, and each time it says it has successfully connected, but nothing is seeming to work. ANY help is much appreciated since I cannot call a helpline since my plan is not international.

If you read the link I posted on WLM....you can do this yourself:
    Cause 1
An incorrect APN is being used.
    Resolution 1
To add an APN, complete the following steps:
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Advanced Options > TCP.
    Type the correct APN information.
Press the Menu key and click Save.
Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions, see KB02141.
Note: If you do not know your APN, or if you do not have an Internet APN, contact your wireless service provider.
    Cause 2
Windows Live Messenger is connecting with older service books.
    Resolution 2
Delete any service books that say >MSN [KEYNEGO , WINDOWS LIVE [KEYNEGO], or MSNMSP [KEYNEGO].
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Advanced Options.
    Scroll to Service Books.
Highlight MSN [KEYNEGO], WINDOWS LIVE [KEYNEGO, or MSNMSP [KEYNEGO].
Press the Menu key and click Delete.
Try connecting to Windows Live Messenger.

  • 8520 sign in button doesn't work

Hi, My wife has a curve 8520. when she tries to use the browser to sign in to yahoo email she fills in her userid and password but the sign in button dosn't work, nothing happens when she clicks it does she have to enable something in the browser configuration? she doesn't have a Blackberry data plan as yet so we realise she can't use BBM or facebook app etc but I would have thought the browser should work as she has an internet plan.

If she's just using the browser to access Yahoo mail, it should work.
Though, if the signin button doesn't "click" on the yahoo site, that would be some error of Yahoo, not the BlackBerry.

I am trying to access internet through wifi on Blackberry Curve 9300 phone. I am behind my college LAN. I get this message:
Cisco Clean Access Java Applet web client could not be launched. The
    reasons for this might include:
Java plug-in not installed in your browser
Java applet is disabled in your browser's security settings
I get stuck at this point. I have enabled all java scripts etc. on my
browser. Clicking on "download and install java plug-in from here", i
come back to the same page.
How could this problem be fixed?

    Hello vipuls,
I would suggest contacting your tech department at your school verify what the Cisco Clean Access web client requirements are to connect.
    Thank you.

  • Non responsive key in Keypad

    Hello again,
My wife uses a Curve 8520 which she got in July 2010. But suddenly the E/2 key on the keypad is not responding and so she cannot even open the phone as the phone has been passworded with the letter e being among the password. What can be done please?

    Hello,
We have exactly the same problem. We also upgraded to 7.0 but are using 3.x functionality. Did you solve this problem?
    Kind regards,
