I have a MacBook Air bought mid 2009. My wifi card is a Broadcom 43XXX.
After 10.8.4 update I detect wifi signals but I can't join. The message is in french but means "connection timeout"
Please help !!!

Hello Mary,
Sorry to hear you are not able to connect to Wi-Fi on your MacBook Air.  I would be concerned about this too.
I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Symptom: My Mac does not connect to the Internet" in the following article:
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

My iPad won't recognize my wifi password after 7.0.2 update.  The password IS correct, but I continue to get the message that the password is incorrect.  Any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same problem too on my iPad 3. One thing that sometimes works is if you go to the App Store and put your password in there after a few tries it may work.

  • How I got my WIFI back after 10.5.8 update

Hi, I too lost my WIFI connection after updating to 10.5.8.
After trying a lot of things (resetting PRAM, SMC...) I managed to get my connection back doing the steps below:
    1) Delete preferences in /Library/Preferences (com.apple.network.identification.plist, com.apple.airport.preferences.plist & NetworkInterfaces.plist)
    2) Delete preference com.apple.networkConnect in ~/Library/Preferences
    3) Restart computer
Note: after restart you will lose all of your network configurations
Important: if your router has its SSID hidden, make it visible (mine was hidden and it didn't work)
    4) Look for available networks. Luckly, you'll find your router's SSID. Connect, enter password, etc.
    5) After checking everything's ok, you can revert your SSID to hidden (I did and it's still working)
Repeat step 4 for every WIFI you want to connect.
    Hope this helps you people!

Had issues with my WiFi router too, after upgrading my MacBook Pro 13" to 10.5.8. Not sure we're talking about the same issues, but my MacBook connected to my WiFi network, had also a IP address, but couldn't connect to any host, nor on the local network neither outside.
After reading your post I tried to remove the network completely from the list of known networks and to set it up from scratch. Seems it works now...
    Thanks,
    Thomas

  • IMac drops Wifi connection after 10.7.4 update

    Hello there,
I am experiencing intermittent wifi connection problems after installing the 10.7.4 update on my 2011 iMac 27".
The symption is that the iMac drop its Wifi connection after a period of time and when that happens the iMac cannot detect any wifi networks in my area (disabling & re-enabling Wifi on the iMac doesn't help). I have to resort to restarting the iMac to revive the wifi interface. Note that my other devices (including my iPhone and my MacBook Air) can connect to my Airport Extreme without any problems.
Is there any "quick-fix" solutions out there that can fix this problem? I want to avoid a complete re-install as much as possible.

    Possible short term fix:
Same issue. Mid 2011 iMac. Updated to 10.7.4 and wifi dropped. The iMac could see any SSID until it was rebooted. My MacBook Air, iPad and iPhone all fine.
I went to Apple tech support and like others was faced with a slippery resistance to the idea that this was anything to do with 10.7.4.
Eventually it was suggested I reinstalled Mac OS (switch off, switch on with cmd and R keys held down. Then follow the process. I wasn't hopeful but was compliant. Imagine my joy when, on coming back to me my iMac asked if I wanted to update to 10.7.4. Of course not!
So reinstalling Mac OS takes you back to 10.7.3. So far so good. Will keep you posted.
Still hoping fpr a proper fix from Apple but they don't seem to be taking seriously
in contrast just updated Omin Group's Omniplan (BTW this is great software for the Mac, check out their offering if you haven't). The update notes:
"It seems as if our fix to the Task: Schedule Inspector in 2.1.1 actually caused more widespread crashes. We've rewritten this code in a more robust fashion and have not seen this problem reappear"
Owning and fixing the problem - Apple guys please take note!
    good luck
    Guy

  • WiFi disappears after 10.7.5 update on iMac

I posted this in the iMac drops wi-fi connection after 10.7.4 update, but it occurs to me that this might be a different problem.  I was having problems with my wifi dropping connection under 10.7.4 just like most of the people in the other thread.  I tried all of the "fixes" suggested, but nothing worked.  Then apple came out with the 10.7.5 update with claims that it would improve wifi reliability, so I installed the update and my wifi disappeared entirely.  I could not turn it on from system configuration, and when I clicked on the wifi icon, it read "no hardware installed".  The only way I could connect to my "wireless" router was to install a wire!
Luckily, I have a back up drive so I reinstalled 10.7.4, and my wireless network (and those of my neighbors) reappeared under the wifi icon.  I don't know if I will have the same disconnecting problems as before because I'm going to leave the cable installed until apple figures this whole mess out.  One giant technological leap backwards!
    Anyone else had this experience?
Maybe 10.7.6 will fix it ???

Hey there. I had the same issue as soon as I updated to 10.7.5 (Lion) on Friday morning. After spending countless hours troubleshooting my router and my MacBook Air, talking to Apple Care, visiting the Genius at the store and searching the forums/net for an answer, I got the issue fixed. I also use a Netgear router and there are a couple of issues with the update, one being that it doesn't work with the old Netgear firmware.  Here's a complete step-by-step on how to get it resolved. My internet is working flawless now for a few hours and faster than before.
    1. Update Netgear Firmware: If you can't of course do this from your laptop, try another device (phone, iPad, tablet, etc...).
Enable the Wi-Fi, connect to the router, and go to:
http://192.168.1.1  Type in username: admin password: password
Should automatically tell you there is a new software update. If not, go to Router Upgrade.
    2. Go to Wireless Settings (in Netgear): --> CHANGE CHANNEL to 3 or 9. --> CHANCE SECURITY to WPA2-PSK [AES]
    3. Let it refresh. (Wi-Fi goes offline and then back on).
    4. Go to Network Preferences on the MacBook (or laptop device) ---> Advanced --> and delete your router from the preferred list.
    5. Go to Macintosh HD (hard drive) --> LIBRARY --> PREFERENCES --> SYSTEM CONFIGURATION --> and under developer, DELETE the following three (3) files:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    6. RESTART the computer.
    7. Go to Network Preferences: At the top, click on LOCATIONS and add a new one. Call it whatever you want. Then make sure when you are done, that it is now working off the NEW location.
    8. At the left, you see the pane that has the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or whatever device listed. Click on the gear at the bottom --> SET SERVICE ORDER.  Again, make sure the Location is the new one you just created. Choose Wi-Fi.
    9. Connect to your router: Make sure you are using the NEW location.
    10. RESTART computer.
Check and make sure you are connected. If you aren't connected, let me know.
    Just an FYI:
If you call Apple Care (whether you are in warranty or not) let the first POC (verification department) know you are calling about a software update issue. They will transfer you to tech support. Once they transfer you, tell the tech specialist you want to be transferred to the Wi-Fi specialists. Yes, they actually have a team of Wi-Fi specialists!!
Most of the steps I got from reading the Apple forums here. The only thing I didn't see anywhere was to change the channel to 9. She said it might get busy so remember the channel setting process and change to 3 or vice versa.
Don't listen to any of these that say download this patch or revert to 10.7.4, etc... Just keep 10.7.5 and do these things.
Hope it helps! Let me know

  • WiFi difficulties after v10.7.5 update

After the 10.7.5 update I've been experiencing a lot of difficulties with my WiFi on my MacBook Pro, and I strongly believe the problem is with the update because all my other devices work just fine. Also I haven't experienced any problems with WiFi since I bought it. My router is a Netgear WGR614v6.  Do anyone have any suggestions for what may be wrong?

I have this same problem. I've tried all number of things on the discussions boards and all seem to come back with no use. Luckily my laptop isn't useless without wifi as I still have uni work to do on it but the Internet is so trivial now that we need it for most of our day to day life.
My iPad and iPhone are all connecting to the Internet fine and I've tried restarting me router too but none of my other housemates are having any problems with it as they all have pcs or haven't updated yet.
Am unsure what to do with this as my laptop is such an important part of my life right now!
My only suggestion is making an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar, which is what I will be doing, and hoping they have the answer.
I will let anyone know if this issue gets resolved, or if they find a solution online. Good luck.

  • Ipad Wifi problem after 7.1.2 update

Hey there! I noticed a big problem after updating my Ipad Air (Wifi Only) to iOS 7.1.2
When I put the device on standby It disconnects from the Wifi network, so I don't receive any push notification. Then when I start using the iPad again, the device reconnects immediately to the Wifi.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Wifi problem after 6.1.2 update

I just updated my device to 6.1.2 yesterday. The wifi worked well for some time. but after I get back home, I find that it cant detec any wifi, with the searching symbol keeping running. and today I tried it on campus, and it still cant detect any wifi. And then I called Apple,it got worse after I did what they told me :reset all the settings. Now I cant even turn on my wifi.

It is a problem with Apple's iOS beginning with 6.0.1
So far they haven't made a definitive fix for it that I can see.
Some people say if you wrap your iphone in a clean cloth & put it in the freezer for 5 minutes your wifi should work again...
Frankly it comes down to Apple not being able to write/code an operating system to save their lives.

  • Wifi problems after downloading a software update

A while back I installed the ipod 3 update to my ipod touch 2nd generation. After that, wifi for my ipod didn't work in my house anymore and still doesn't. It will show up that I have perfect connection, but none of the pages will load. Internet works fine on my laptop, so I know it's not the router. Although I have been living with this problem for quite some time, I would love to get a solution. Can anybody help?

Have you tried resetting the router by unplugging it for 5 min and then plugging it back in again?
Also, have you seen [troubleshooting network and wifi connections|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398]?
    Hope that helps.

  • Possible solution to Wifi problems after 10.4.10 update !!!!

    Hi,
I dunno if this will help any of you, but here it comes:
I purchased the Airport 'N' enabler just a week before I upgraded to OSX 10.4.10. And - of course - after the OS update I had the similar issue with dropping Wifi connections and very slow speed, although (*Touch Wood*) I didn't have any Kernel Panics.
After updating to OS 10.4.10, System Profiler and Network Utility showed that I had the 'n' enabled, but the speed and (lack of) stability of the Wifi connection can only be described as 'Hair-ripping'.
Anyway, after reading through all the threads/topics of all you poor sods with similar problems and utilising somewhat 'hairy' workarounds with varying results, I realized that nobody actually tried to re-install the 'N'-enabler again; at least as far as I recall..
So, I simply installed the 'N'-enabler again AFTER updating to 10.4.10 !!! I was kind of expecting the installer to prompt me, saying that "this computer already has Airport Extreme 'N'-enabler installed" blah-blah.., but it didn't.
And now I have a very stable connection and MUCH faster download speeds as well !
So those of you who hasn't tried this yet, please do. It might work for you as well ... !!
    Just me 2 cents
    - "Go Lemmings, Go !" -

Still having the same problem. Repairing permissions did nothing to resolve it and even the 10.4.4 update did not help.
In addition to the intermittent freezing issue I still have the mouse icon problem.
Are there any Apple people monitoring these support discussions? Do they ever solve any problems?

  • Airport Express WiFi issues after Yosemite and iOS update

Since the most recent software updates for OSX and iOS my WiFi has been acting up. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed that Safari does not work most of the time, yet I can open Chrome (on either Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, or iPhone 6) and the website I was trying to access in Safari will open instantaneously. I just recently upgrade my Xfinity internet from the Performance package (25 mbps) to the Extreme package (105 mbps) and thought these issues were related to the upgrade, but we also have a Windows 8.1 hardwired and it streams consistently. I have seen a few other posts related to this issue, but have yet to find a resolution.

  • No wifi connectivity after ios 7.04 update on iPad2

I just updated the ios on my iPad 2 this afternoon to 7.04. What a mistake! I no longer can connect to wifi, which makes my iPad useless. I am sitting in front of my wifi router and the iPad will not connect to the signal. This is definitely a problem with the update, as it was connecting without problems with ios 7.03. My iPad hasn't connected since 4:40 this afternoon, November 24th. How do I fix this? Can I go back to the previous ios? Should I take it in to the Apple Store? Thanks for any advice!!!

    Thanks for the suggestion
I actually had an accidental win with my phone, then a big fail, followed by #3 replacement...!
So I had to travel and was unable to replace it in time, so I travelled with the problematic phone. Its battery was going down rather quickly with a fair bit of use, and I got stuck out at the wedding I was attending and only about 17% charge left, but the need to use that power to get back to where I was staying! So, phone turned off for a few hours... when it was back on, viola, wifi reappeared.
It stayed available and working for a solid 2 weeks or more, but, as suddenly as it came back, it went. I turned it off before bed, then it was back the next day. Within 24 hours it was completely unavailable yet again.
So, a week ago (day 2 of it not working at all again), I decided to venture to an Apple Store to get diagnostics on it... and the guy I saw said as soon as the wifi is greyed out, its a replacement phone as it cannot be rectified by factory resets/etc. So just like that, I got a new phone... again.
As of tonight, almost a week on, the new one is behaving perfectly well. Yahoo!
It has been an ok experience using the express return service that Apple offers (we are out of the city we live in, so its nearly an hour drive to the nearest Apple shop)... but that trip was worth it for getting a pre-updated phone to play with and be sure its working ok upon delivery.
Glad to hear you have fixed your phone without needing the replacement!

So I just recieved and installed the OTA update for 5.1.1 on my 32Gb Wifi Z3 compact. Now I have a constant notification on the status bar advising that Mobile Data is disabled. If I click it it takes me to the WiFi Data Usage page - as this is the WiFi only version Mobile Data should not be an option and as such I get no options to control Mobile Data.  Any suggestions - or Sony Software Devs if you are reading this please address this issue for the WiFi only versions of the Z3 Compact Tablet. Sorry - Accidentally posted in wrong section - MODS please can you move or remove this post

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
