Wifi Turn grey for 3 weeks
i have no idea in a sudden that makes my phone battery life so short by using cellular by all the time , just for that , the battery life makes me so awakend ..
i have make a dicision for not updating the divice is because ios 7 aren't suit for iphone 4s , its happen from a night that i cant find my wifi along , when i reboot the phone , things change , its really become unclickable . please help me solve the problem .

If no change with the troubleshooting steps provided except for restoring the iPhone with iTunes which will install iOS 7, contact Apple support as provided.

Tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if better. If still problem, Restore your iPhone with iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer. See if better. If still problem and if there is Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

IPhone wi-fi disabled - Turned Grey :(
need help. iPhone wifi turned grey --- its disabled totally now...last week, i noticed that its happenning intermittently but since saturday...it no longer reverted to the original state. I tried the most help ive seen on the forum to no avail. what should i do now?
Grayed out WiFi usually means a hardware failure, and often happens after updating the iOS, which is stressful to the phone and can cause marginal functioning components to fail.
Try Restoring the phone in iTunes, first using a backup, and then as new, without using a backup. If restoring as new doesn't fix it, take it to Apple or whoever provides iPhone warranty service in your county
FYI "hard" reset is a 1980s PC term. The only way to do a hard reset on an iPhone is to crush it with a sledge hammer. To reset the phone - press both the home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

I am in such a predicament - phone not been quite right since the 6.1 update and I was tolerating the inconvenience of switching off and on etc etc for the past couple of months and now the wifi and bluetooth are totally greyed out all the time - did every restore possible including back to factory settings - still no luck - please don't tell me that trying all the solutions over the past 2 months that temporarily worked for a few days at a time will now mean I have timed myself out of the 1 year warranty? arghhhhh (I can't believe that such an issue will create the response 'oh well, your problem - best just buy another one' ???)
I can't just drop everything and drive to the apple store and wait for hours every time there's a 'glitch' otherwise I may as well move nextdoor to the mall. They tell you to try and solve it yourself first - which I did - and now it's not responding to anything I try, will I be told - 'too late, out of warranty'???
I see theres an update for the iphone 5 that fixes wifi bugs - what about us 4s owners? even my 3 year old 3gs is still working on wifi (haven't dared to update it!) so don't start telling me to expect that the iphone will only last 13 months - NOT AT $600 a piece

then a restore. then a factory restore....then ..... nothing fixes so I try the next step with apple online - fill out my serial number and find it is a couple of weeks out of date - and then with the holidays who has time to get to the apple store? this is my second 4s handset as it is - first one the glass cracked from L to R without any impact/damage etc - they changed it out automatically because it's a 'known fault' apparently - so technically, this handset is only 6 months old - but warranty is from original purchase date -
never imagined it would turn out to be a warranty issue with the phone - and hey maybe when I get a chance to go to the apple store they'll be sympathetic, but I won't be able to get there till at least Jan 4th as it is. On the other hand, another iOS update might resolve the issue - but how long till that release? at the moment I'm having to use my old 3gs for wifi and 4s for phone!!! -

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input. I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update. Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service. Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use. That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance. I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible. A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199. AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series. Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps. -
My wifi stays greyed out and dim and will not turn on. For a little bit it did turn on but would NOT recognize the wifi in our home, although all other devices did without an issue. I've tried all the solutions I've found on here and nothing is working to solve my problem. (i.e., restarted my phone, my modem, reset my network settings, backed up my phone and restored it and still nothing!) Very frustrated!!! Apple support says it must be a hardware issue and I will have to take it in for a repair which since I'm just past my one year mark, will cost $199.00.
How can it be a hardware issue if for a brief period the wifi worked for about two days before it again went dim and won't work??? Any help or suggestions would be extremely appreciated as I'm not a very techy person and I'm baffled!

P.S. My phone is an iphone 4 and is updated to the current version.Your iPhone doesn't require as much power to charge as your iPad needs so there is a possibility that the charge could have a problem even though you were able to charge the phone. If you can try a different power adapter and still have no luck, then the only thing left - IMO - is to contact Apple support and see what they advise.

I'm not trying to be a nitpicker - but what you described is a hard reset and your post gave no indication that you tried a software restore - which I referenced in my post. That's why I suggested the restore.
Many times restoring the iPad to factory settings can help "revive" the device. If you have tried restoring according to the two support articles that I directed you to and still have no success, you are probably out of luck getting any further help on this site. That's all that you can try at this point at least AFAIK. -

Can you take a screenshot of the pop-up notification?
To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
If you want to attach a screenshot to a response here, click the "camera" icon above the text field:
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the window the cursor is on.

since upgrading my phone to 6.0.1, I'm using way too much data. I believe it's the podcast app that's not loading shows while I'm connected to wifi. I have the 3g turned off for podcasts??? also after a phone call or an alert it starts playing a podcast?
I've also had the same issues, after upgrading to IOS 6.0, the apps in my iPhone 4 were crashing and the battery life run out very fast.
The only solution worked for me was to remove all mail accounts (Exchange/Gmail) from my iPhone (in settings) and then add them back.
The crashing were stopped! also the battery was back to normal.
I found the solution by first looking at the crash logs (in IOS 6). you can find them at Settings -> General -> About (at the bottom of the About menu you will find the option that opens the logs).
There i saw many logs about Low Memory crash. 99% of the logs were pointed that the largest process (use the most memory) during the crashes is "dataaccessd".
I search in the web and found that this process is a deamon process that reponsible the Mail accounts (like Exchange/Gmail) and contancts list.
I've installed the app "System Status - activity monitor" which shows important system info like CPU usage, Memory usage and running processes.
Before apply my solution (deleting the mail accounts) i saw that the CPU usage was very high which consume the battery very fast. Also i saw that the memory (RAM) was run out.. which probably what cause the crashing..
After deleting the mail accounts (at Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars) i check again with the System Status app, and saw that the memory and CPU were back to normal.
Adding the mail accounts back, still everything work ok

When waking from "sleep" the screen appears normal but, the pointer leaves a trail of grey as it moves and the whole screen will turn grey if I keep moving the pointer. The computer is effectively dead. Have to shut down by using power off for six seconds and then re-starting. I know little about computers!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) -

you need to go to the apple store. You're wifi chip has expired! Wifi chip experation dates were checked upon the new software, that is why some iPhones still work and others don't. They will replace it for you free of charge (don't quote me on this). It was free for me.
