Wifi turns off after screen lock macbook mid 2010, mountain lion
I want my wifi to be turned on permanently, when macbook is on.
However, when I lock screen or it is locked after period of inactivity, wifi turns off.
Are there any settings, any config files, any system tools which could be used to tell my MB 2010 not to turn my wifi off.
I think I may have found a solution. I feel like a fool for not thinking of it earlier.
System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter > Computer Sleep > Never
This worked overnight, even with the screen locked.
Obviously, you could do the same for the Battery version of the panel.
Hope this helps.

WiFi turns off after an inconistant amount of time until restart.
On my MacBook Pro. My wifi turns off at certain times. So to battle it when I feel its about to go I'll turn airport off and on again. I don't get it. It really happened after installing 10.5.7. Although I remember once long before that the airport turned off and went back after restart. Could have been with 10.5.3. I ran Apple Hardware test (not the through one just the normal one) and it said that my hardware was fine? Is everyone experiencing this on All 4,1 MacBook Pro 17" Models?
Here is something but I am not sure whether it is the right thing.

Wifi turns off when screen turns off
Hi all. I noticed that my wifi turns off when my screen turns off (to save energy) on my brand new rMBP. The mac isn't asleep, just the screen as I have specified in the settings to turn off but the actual laptop is still on. Well when I move the mouse or press a key, the screen naturally comes on right away but I noticed that wifi turns on and reconnected. So if I was streaming music or something, it would stop and disconnect when the screen goes off. Does this make sense?
How do I disable this? I don't want my wifi to turn off at all when my screen turns off. If I'm downloading/streaming or whatever, I want my connection to remain on. Thoughts?edit:
i know there's the option "prevent computer sleeping when screen is off" under power adpter, but i would like it done while running battery.
thank you. -
Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite in my iMac my WIFI turns off each time it wakes from sleep (it doesn't happen on my MBPro). I have tried every solution I could find and nothing seems to work (new user, safe boot, turning off AWDL, removing plist files, etc.). Here is the system log from last time WIFI turned off:

Wifi turns off when screen goes to sleep - how can i disable this?
running 10.8.4 on MBA 2013
is there a way to keep wifi alive when the screen goes to sleep (automatically turns off)?
this is very annoying that i would have some internet connected application running (eg. a download) and then the screen turns itself after a timer and also cuts the wifi. this means i have to keep my screen on if i had a big file to download. is there a way around this? i cannot find any settings addressing this issue/option.
thank you.edit:

Wifi turns off after viewing 1 hour of 1.5 hour YouTube video (OS BUG?)
So I was watching this talk on YouTube on my iPhone 3GS. It is 1.5 hours long and I had just passed the 1 hour mark. I'm at home over my home wifi, which is very reliable. All of a sudden the video stops. I tap the screen and see that wifi is off and Edge is on, seeing the "E" where the wifi icon would be.
I had to stop the video by tapping on Done, going to the home screen, pressing the sleep button on and back again to come out of sleep, then wifi reconnects automatically, then went back to the same video and fast-forwarded to where it disconnected.
Wifi seems to have been disconnected after an hour of activity, by powering off the radio on the iPhone.
Could this be a possible bug in the OS?I wouldn't consider your usage to be a problem. I also have a years' experience with the 3G and though battery usage wasn't as good as the original iPhone it was manageable. So, too, my experience with the 3Gs. I carry a couple of different extra, external batteries when I know I'm going to be out and about with the phone for an extended period, and it's plugged in when I'm at rest at home, or in the car. Judging by what you've posted I'm not sure there's anything wrong with your phone.

How do I turn off the screen lock feature on my IPhone 4S?
How do I turn off the lock screen feature on my IPhone4S?
You mean the passcode lock, or just the generic lock that requires no passcode?
For passcode lock, go Settings > General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and then disable the feature.
For normal screen lock, go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock, and set it to 'Never'.
Now your iPhone will only screen lock when you press the 'Sleep/Wake' button. -

And the screen light doesn't completely dim out until the screen locks. Isn't it a step of backward? I just need a 5800 with capacitive touch screen. Should i expect Nokia to fix it for every phone that with this backward step?

Am not sure about your requirement (..sorry, did not understand it)..but on Nokia 5800xm you can either automatically lock the screen after a pre defined period..or simply keep it Unlocked infintely. Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Phone Management-->Auto Keyguard..set the period to User defined or None as you desire...But, even with this set to None.. the display will go out between 5 and 60 seconds max. (..again user defined) ..Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Display-->Light time-out ...

IPhone 4S not wifi syncing with Macbook Pro (2010, Mountain Lion)
Subject pretty much says it all: I can't get my iphone 4S to wifi sync with my Macbook Pro (2010, running Mountain Lion). All relevant pieces have been updated (latest OS on laptop and device, latest iTunes, etc.). wifi sync did work at some point but now simply won't; the device does not show up in iTunes, and trying to manually start a sync from the device just leave it looking for my laptop forever.
A little Google digging did make reference to trying to kill "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" and restarting iTunes. I have noticed that AppleMobileDeviceHelper is not running...should it be? I've even tried manually starting it and it doesn't seem to work. I dug through Console looking for references to it in logs and didn't find anything.
Any suggestions/ideas appreciated.
Thanks.Hey halcyonic,

27" iMac mid 2010, Mountain Lion, not sleeping...
I have just upgraded my 27" iMac mid 2010 to Mountain Lion (Now running 10.8.2). Ever since it won't go to sleep and neither will the display turn off when I set it to go off automatically in the Energy Saver preferences. After finding other posts experiencing the same issue I've tried repairing permissions and resetting both the SMC and PRAM a few times to no avail, even restarted in safe mode to try clear possibly corrupt caches. It's really frustrating as I can't leave stuff downloading overnight as the display won't go off. I can easily put the iMac to sleep through the menu or the power button though. I didn't have this issue the other day before upgrading.
Does anyone have any ideas?
ThanksHi,
Have just tried, neither iMac nor display went to sleep automatically in safe mode.
I have an apple keyboard, and a joystick all attached via USB and an apple mouse via Bluetooth. And occasionally my external HDD for Time Machine via USB.
Checked Console as well. Am setting display sleep to 1 minute and waiting, no messages appear in Console, nothing happening even after 5 mins... -
Mid 2010 Mountain Lion Kernel Trap Errors
How does a flawless Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard for three years become unstable after updated OS to Mountain Lion? I had the Apple store check out the hardward before my Applecare expired, done clean reinstall of the system and all my additional software and it continues to be unstable. Crashes within seconds of startup and sometimes doesn't crash for days. I installed a new partition with a clean OS using Mountain Lion and I still experience these crashes.
I have read many of the articles and I am extremely frustrated disatisfied with my Macbook Pro now and have no viable solution to getting back my bullet proof Mac. Does anyone have a viable solution? This Macbook Pro was configured by Apple with 8 Ggs of memory. There is no non-standard hardware either on this Mac. The Genius Bar tested all the hardware on this with no errors. They reinstalled Mountain Lion from scratch and I reinstalled all my software from scratch. I used recovery to verify the disk and there were no errors on the system files. The error report was from the partition crash and I created the partition with Mountain Lion OS from scratch.
Here are the other two crashes in a row from the clean partition:

Random crash on MBP (Mid 2010) - Mountain Lion
Hi guys, I'm currently using this machine, it was given to me by a colleague that use it for almost two years without any issues.
When I got the machine I just did the following:
1. Format the hard drive (HDD) and replace it with my working SSD (OCZ Vertex 2 180GB)
2. Install a brand new Mountain Lion, Office and a few programs (nothing harmless or complex I think, istat for example)
Since my first day with the machine I am experiencing some random crashes, I've readed A LOT about the Video Issue with this particular MacBook Pro but I didn't think I have it cause the machine was working perfectly before I reinstalled the software and the failure behavior is quite different as I have readed so far.
My machine just pop up the gray screen whit this message (http://roberthuttinger.blogsite.org/images/kernel_panic.jpg) that says that something went wrong and ask me to press a key to reboot the machine, when I do it I get an error report that i don't understand.
My CPU temp always is between 45 and 80 and mostly of the time is around 60 C.
I'll appreciate any help or Ideas you may have,
Cheers,Thanks for your reply, here you go,

WIFI turns off after 30 minutes while streaming from the internet.
Unless my Touch (2G - 4.0) is plugged in, streaming of videos using Safari or NFB (National Film Board of Canada) will cease after exactly 30 minutes. The WIFI icon disappears. I have tried different routers, tons of setting changes, reset network connections on the Touch, etc. I KNOW that is not the problem. How do I keep the WIFI on so that streaming is not interrupted?
When using the NFB app, I can see that it is still downloading ahead (buffering) of what I am watching and that stops. Exiting app and going back in turns the WIFI back on but I have to watch from the beginning again - and then it stops after 30 minutes.
If the Touch is plugged in via USB, the WIFI icon remains on. I have currently set my mail to fetch every 15 minutes and so far that has kept it on but at some point it won't and I really don't want to fetch email on my Touch anyway.I had the same problem when I upgraded. In my case it definitely was the power supply. In my effort to figure out the problem by swapping components in and out, the dieing power supply killed 2 P8P67 Pro and 2 2500k, and when I tested with the P67A-GD65, the power supply totally died, but the good thing is that the GD65 survived. Swapped in a 430W to test and everything was perfect. At full load with GTX260, it will draw less than 300W, so your power supply is fine to test.
