Wifi turns off and on every 30 seconds

First time having this on my network, never had this problem.  But my home WIFI keeps coming on and off on my iPhone 4 (Verizon).  At first I didn't mind it but noticed how quick it drained my battery doing this.  I'm running the current iOS5 5.0.1 firmware.  I don't know if the new firmware doesn't like the ports of the wifi now or a hardware issue?  Had the phone since Verizon came.

Well Solution 1 : Reset your modem and Restore your Iphone 4 as a new iphone and try and it still keeps you off
try with another modem and it still keeps you off then your wireless adaptor might crash and you need to go to apple store

  • My iPhone 5 continues to power off and on every 10 seconds

My iPhone 5 continues to power off and on every 10 seconds. It'll turn on, the apple icon appears, it then goes to my lock screen pretty quickly, then shuts off and does it all over again. How can I fix this? If I have backed up my phone to iCloud will I lose things like my notes and pictures?

    Hey kenziephipps,
To make sure we are on the same page, you cannot keep your phone powered on as it turns off right after you see the slide to unlock screen after booting up. I would advise to try to restore your iPhone by following the steps in the article below. To answer your second questions, you should have it all backed up in iCloud like you said you did unless you made changes to what is backed up. With that if you did not make any changes you will have it backed up.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Wifi turns off and mobile data turns by itself.

Like I said, Wifi turns off and mobile data turns on by it self. I have actually see it do this while I am using it. I am getting sick of having to back into setting to turn mobile data off and wifi back on. My phone started doing this a couple months ago and is doing it more and more frequently wasting all my mobile data. I have had the phone a little over a year. I'm not sure much can be solved in the forums but I also don't know how to contact Blackberry Support as they seem to just direct people here. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Oh wow...that's a really ancient OS. There was one more in the 10.2.1 branch after that, then the entire 10.2.2 branch, followed by 10.3.0, 10.3.1, and now 10.3.2...so you are perhaps 25, maybe 50 updates behind now? Not surprising that you are suffering from problems that have likely been cleared up since. I cannot recall specifically if the problem you are reporting was in that specific OS version...it's been way too long since I used it (I'm on 10.3.2.840 now, on all 3 of my devices). Regarding the space issue, refer:Article ID: KB36394 Unable to upgrade to BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 or later due to insufficient spaceHowever, given your ancient OS, it is rather likely that you will have trouble with updating, especially in regards to backup/restore of your data. It has been reported that some who jump too far ahead find that their data cannot be restored to the updated device OS. So, to prepare, I advise you the following:Use LINK to conduct a full backup to your PCManually copy the entire contents of Device Memory to your PCPurchase and use Ultimate Backup to backup your data to your media cardPrepare full manual documentation of all configurations, account credentials, added apps, etc. (in case, in the worst case scenario, you cannot restore from backup and have to manually reconfigure everything)Hopefully this advice is way more conservative than you require...but better safe than sorry. If the official methods don't work for you, then you can consider the unofficial AutoLoader method (which, given your ancient OS, might actually be a "cleaner" way for you to go, but will require backup/restore or manual reconfiguration as AutoLoaders are completely destructive to everything presently on the device):http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using-Autoloader/td-p/2466747#nobannerhttp://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/You will want to research carefully what OS you choose, however...be sure you choose only an officially released (by at least one carrier) version and not a true "leak". Also beware of moving into 10.3.2...the government-required "kill switch" has been added to 10.3.2, and hence also includes a block that prevents you from falling back to 10.3.1. Good luck!

My wifi turns off and need to contiuly turn it on, it works ok mostly but turns off

    Hi Friend,
Forget the WiFi connection, then sign in again probably will solve your issue.
If the issue persists, reset networking settings.
    Hope it helps

My iPhone switches off and reboots every 30 seconds, has antone experienced this problem? It happened a couple of weeks ago and I took the sim card out , cleaned it and put it back. This solved the problem for about 2 weeks, but it doesnt help now

  • My iphone 3G Backlight keeps turning off and on every 15 - 20 seconds.

My iphone 3G keeps turning off and on (only backlight) every 15 - 20 seconds when in sleep mode. When I say turning on and off, it is not switch on-off, it is only back light that gets turn on and off. This is causing the battery to exhaust quickly.

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again.
If the problem persits, set it up "as new device". If this does not work, do it again, this time not using the backup after the new set up.
If still no luck, get it serviced or visit your nearest Apple Store.

  • Macbook Pro - WiFi turns OFF and won't turn back ON

    Hello,
this is my first time posting something on this forum; I will be as detailed as possible. I bought a Macbook Pro back in 2011 and It came with Lion OS. Last year I upgraded it to Mavericks and so far it has been a nice experience. However, in the past week I have experienced a very strange and irrating problem with my macbook. While doing work all of the sudden the WiFi would turn off and lose all connection to the web. I attempted to turn it back ON by clicking on the wifi signal icon but something weird occured, it was still 'ON' according to my mac and the only option available was to actually turn it OFF, so i clicked on it and the icon would go empty with no curvy lines (i attached a picture). Then i clicked again on the icon to turn it back on, however, as was doomed to remain in this state cause no matter what I tried.. the wifi will remain off even after clicking on the 'turn wifi on' option multiple times. I tried going to the assist me option under network preferences and I obtained multiple results with no fix. I tried sending my mac to sleep though at first seemed to fix the problem.. the wifi inmediately went back to being off and wont catch a signal. The only thing that fixes this is a fresh restart which is annoying and unacceptable...this is really annoying and I need a solution asap because this problem is become very frequent (once every 2 hours)... any help will be appreciated it.
I attached 2 pictures and the console log when this happened.
    1. A picture of my assist me window before i sent it to sleep, shows the WiFi on the left with the 'Failed' (which confuses me). it also shows the wifi icon empty ( like it was off) but the computer shows as if it was on and would ask you to turn it off... weird?
A second picture after I sent my mac to sleep. Though it seems like there was no wifi signal available, the router was on and literally next to my mac...but my machine wont catch up the signal. (other devices were connected to the wifi and have no problem with it).
Here is the console log right before and after my this problem occured:

Thank you for your detailed troubleshooting attempts.  Very helpful.  Sorry, I cannot read "logs."  My eyes just glass over on those things.  Hopefully, a knowledgeable user will come along shortly to decipher for you.
I noticed from the pics that your location setting is "untitled."  Have you tried the "Automatic" setting?  Run the diagnostic test?  Results?
    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • Why my wifi turns off and on continuously?

In the last four months bought a MacBook Pro, an Iphone 4s and a ipad, at least since I bought the iphone, I've noticed the wifi, when I click the wifi symbol, turns off and on repeatedly and continuouslyy in varying lengths of time. Makes it hard to watch streaming video.

Your post sounds like you are having wifi issues with your iPhone.  If that is the case, post in the iPhone forum area.

  • Internet connection off and on, off and on, every few seconds

This problem started on my new MacBook Pro - Internet connection was cycling off/on, off/on, every few seconds.  Sometimes restarting the machine brought back a steady connection.  Then I was using Teamviewer to transfer files from Mac Mini to MacBook Pro and had good connection for hours.  Then suddenly - off/on off/on every few seconds, exactly like the MacBook Pro.
Tried all the usual things but here's the clue that the problem is likely in Mavericks 10.9.2 or peculiar to the Mac in some other way: I have a PC on the same network and right now, as we speak, connection is steady, so it seems clear the problem isn't my modem (though I did try resetting it) or ISP, while the two Macs both are cycling WiFi off/on off/on every few seconds, .
    Anyone got a clue?

Clinton, from various posts in forums about the Motorola SBG6580, an integrated router/modem, and seeing several posts about exactly the problem I am experiencing, it appears pretty likely that  a firmware update is needed.  Goiing into my modem admin panel, I do see that the firmware version is a much earlier number than the version recommended by various users.  It also appears I am not able to do this myself and must call my ISP, which I can't do until tomorrow.
Sounds like I know what I'm doing, doesn't it?  Ha.
If it turns out this doesn't solve things, I'll come back and try to answer your questions.

  • Wifi connected, but no internet until wifi turned off and on...

    hello.
I just got a new macbook air, 2012. Running mountain lion.
while connected to the internet via wifi, suddenly the internet disconnects.
The only solution has been to turn off wifi, and then back on. Then, its fine for a while.
I thought it was the location where i was connecting.
But today, i was in another city, on another network, and it did the same thing.
I turned wifi off, and back on, and it worked fine.
Do i need to take this machine to the apple store?
    thanks!!

  • Wifi turns off and goes straight to cellular

So I have been using the IPHONE 5 since OCT 2012. Around JAN 2013 I began using DATA at higher rates than ever before. I contacted Verizon and I did a factory reset. Thought things were going better until now. Again, my phone is using data at times when I am connected to the WIFI. I get on a call with APPLE and Verizon where I am told that the latest software update will make phone switch to data if wifi connection is disrupted. As a result, customers can incur large data usage when on WIFI> I am upset that APPLE does not make this known. The technical support staff directed me to the support section on the apple website for further reading. I have found nothing regarding this issue and APPLE cannot tell me when a fix is on the horizon....UGH!!!!

There is no fix as there is no issue.
You've yet to describe a problem.
The iPhone does not simply drop a Wi-Fi connection.  It does (and always has) turned off Wi-Fi when in sleep mode to conserve power.
What leads you to believe that you are not simply using more data than you have in the past?

  • My iPhone's wifi turned off and it won't let me turn it back on. What can I do? I've tried turning it off and on, but still nothing.

My iPhone's wifi is grey and won't allow me to slide it into the on position. What do I need to try?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings

  • Wifi connecting while turned off and on ethernet

Much the same as a lot of people I have been experiencing wifi issues, lost connections after sleep and usage speed etc, and after messing about with settings and a clean install decided to just turn off wifi and use ethernet until apple can sort out the complete mess that is OS X 10.10.
So... with Wifi turned off and ethernet connected via thunderbolt, approx every 20mins wifi turns it's self on and connects to my network for about 30 secs and then turns off. I get notified of this via little snitch and have monitored this via Network settings. I have tested this from both my existing and a new account.
Would anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?

I saw a thread like this a few weeks ago but don't remember if they reached a solution.  I'd do a search of the iPad forum and see what comes up and read through them.
    Good luck.

  • My iphone 4 turns off and on when ever i try to reboot and turn off each and every 5 second?

    hi there,
my iphone 4 turns off and on in each and every 5 seconds when ever i try to reboot and turn off. i was just trying to get ridge of this things. so culd u help me plz !!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    How is it setup?
I need the whole network setup. what modem/router, how is the TC connected etc??
I also need to know what IP the ipod gets, so I can see what mode the TC or network router is working in.
