NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined

  • WiFI authentication and Eduroam (EAP-TTLS / PAP)

    Hi,
eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is the roaming infrastructure used by the international research and education community (universities).
At least in Australia and AFAIK also in Europe.
Most sites use EAP-TTLS / PAP authentication (and it appears there are good technical reasons for it).
The current Symbian OS does not support it out of the box.
(or at least I couldn't find it on my E51)
Is there any solution (application, etc) able to supply this functionality ?
    Cheers.

e61drc: thanks, indeed, you are correct.
bife71: the e51 have mschapv2 (guess what ms stands for which require an active directory backend while pap may use practically anything (e.g. an ldap) ... this being a good technical reason why large organizations may prefer pap.
Well, from a company claiming "Connecting People" I am rather disapointed.
(further research turned out that this feature have been widely requested for at least 1.5 years)
    Cheers.

  • Upgrade to Mavericks make Eduroam (WPA Enterprise) intermittent wifi

After upgrade to Mavericks, my MacBook Pro can't stay connected to eduroam for at leas 2 min following, it's always falling.. Any help, and after update to 10.9.2 the stability have dropped considerably..
    Any help please..

You're not alone. I have exactly the same wifi problem since the update to 10.9.2. I can't connect to eduroam or to my university wifi (WPA2 Enterprise). I have no IP adress assigned ! At the same time, I have no problem with my PC with Windows Seven ! I have the same problem with my iPhone (ios 7.0.6).
At home, my wifi is WPA2 Personnal and I have no problem nor with my Macbook, nor with my iPhone.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Eduroam wifi

    Hi
I have problem to get a stable connection (to an eduroam network). I find it, connect (maybe), the signal strengths going up and down (before connection: low; after: high, and then the signal finaly disappears (disconnect). I have tried others (eduroam networks) and the case is the same! I have also tried "normal" networks (not eduroam) and that works finely. what happens here - any solution?
    /Tommy

I have solved the problem. I contacted the support center via web, and I got an e-mail telling me that none of the Nokia devices can connect to EAP-TTLS networks. I was very surprised because there is a post in the web of my Univerisity with instructions to connect a Nokia X6 to eduroam using that protocol.  I contacted the support service at my University, and they told me that if Nokia said that it is not possible to connect a Nokia device, them, that is the end of the story
I received a feedback request from Nokia asking me about my satisfaction from the support Center, and my answer was that I was very dissatisfied. Minutes after my reply I got a telephone call from the Nokia Support Center apologizing for giving me misleading information. They them suggested me to go to a nearby local center to restore the operating system.
What I have done is to restore the phone to using OVI to the original setting that I saved, and I have followed one more time the instructions posted for the X6 and, voilá, the phone now connect to the eudoram.

  • Wifi disconnects on highish throughput

    Hi,
I've got wireless problems with the combination of my router and my laptop. Whenever I download something more than say 1MB the connection drops. This happens with Youtube, Google Image search and Pacman updates. The connection re-establishes after a few seconds to drop out again some 10-15 seconds later. This continues until either the download fails or is finished.
On the university, which uses eduroam, I've got no problems connecting and no problems downloading.
I'm using wpa_supplicant to connect, which is started by dhcpd. The settings for the connection with my router are as basic as could be, only an SSID and PSK are given in the configuration file.
    What I've tried so far:
Update system with pacman. No success
Change router to mixed BG only, no N. No success
Turned power management off. No success
I've had the problem a few weeks back, but then changing the config file to a minimum fixed the problem.
On Windows 8.1 the wifi seems to work fine.
Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this?

  • Networks will "connect" over Wifi, but DNS resolution is impossible and I can't access the internet.

My OSX 10.7.5 iMac (late 2011) will connect to my university's wireless network and thinks it's connected to the internet, but cannot resolve any DNS - and cannot actually access the internet on any browser or internet-utilising app. My university has 2 networks, a regular wifi one and an eduroam one. I have the same problem on both networks. My MacBook, running Snow Leopard, and my iPad (latest software) both connect to both networks just fine.
Because it's my university's network, i can't reset my router or anything like that. I'm in halls. I don't think it's a network issue, because all my other devices are fine.
I've searched high and low on these forums but haven't found anyone having exactly the same problem as me - I've heard of odd few minutes of people losing their connections in this manner, but my computer's been down now for hours and nothing. I've restarted it many times, even once in "Recovery Mode" and I'm getting nothing. I've followed instructions to flush my DNS cache, renew DHCP leases, I've tried manually inputting various DNSes I've found (eg the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 google ones), none of which have worked.
Using terminal, I can't ping either an http:// domain, or an IP address. Both get "timed out" as a response. I can't access the internet on any browser (chrome, safari, firefox), my google mail notifier, Skype, or my twitter app. Or anything else.
I'm relatively computer literate, but I'm not particularly code-savvy, so I'd really appreciate it if I could get some step-by step help on here, bearing in mind what I've already tried. I'm really worried, because it all seems to have happened completely out of the blue. Last time I updated was some time a couple weeks ago; I update whenever my software update beeps at me.
    Thanks.
    link.

Go step by step and test.
    1.Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
       It will take a while.
      Restart the computer.
      Start up in Safe Mode.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11212?viewlocale=en_US
    2.  Turn off Extensions, if any.
         Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    3. Turn off proxies, if selected.
System Preference > Network > Advanced  > Proxies Tab
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
         Click "OK" then  "Apply"
    4. Uninstall anti-virus software, if any.

  • Can't connect to Eduroam on my WP 8 Nokia Lumia 930

    Hi!
So, I just got the new Lumia 930, which I am very happy with, however I can not seem to get it to connect to Eduroam at the university I work at. When I go to the page where I am suppose to 'join' or 'download' whatever I need, 'securew2', (using the phone)
it detects that I am using a Windown Phone, but it only just gives me settings to 'configure my device'. Such as:
    SecurityType:WPA2-Enterprise
    Encryption: AES
    EAP Type: TTLS
    Inner EAP Type: PAP
    CA Certificate: UTN-USERFirst-Hardware, AddTrust etc..
When I then go into WiFi and click on Eduroam, I try to log in with my user-credentials. I can also look through a list of certificates but none of them seem to be the right one. The only choice I really get is the EAP-method, where I change it from PEAP
MA-CHAP v2 (which did not work) to TTLS. Then I am asked to verify that it is the right network, which it is - with the name of the university and everything - I click OK....and then there is a full stop. I only get a 'can't connect' message. Very frustrating.
I talked to the IT people at here, and they verified my user credentials, and told me that people with Windows Phones had trouble connecting to Eduroam.
As should be abundantly clear by now I am technologically challenged, so please help help help me fix this. If for no other reason then to silence my snickering, iPhone-loving colleagues.

    Hello,
Did you find a solution for this issue?
I just bought a Nokia Lumia 735 and I have the same problem. Unable to connect the Eduroam network in my laboratory. It seem that I have to put an other certificate which is not on my device (from TERENA), and I did not find how to do it.
It is a bit disappointing to be blocked on such a new device. My previous phone, an old Iphone 3gs, was able to connect very easily...
Please help, or I will regret my choice to switch on Windows Phone (if I add the poor choice regarding the apps on the Store...).
    Regards.

  • Connecting myRIO to WiFi with WPA2 Enterprise EAP-TTLS

    Hey guys,
I´m struggling to connect my myRIO to the eduroam wifi on campus. It worked for a time, but now it suddenly just doesn´t.
The network runs a EAP-TTLS (or PEAP) Authentification, MSCHAPv2 as an inner authentification and a GT UserTrust Global Root certificate. When I first got it working I just set it up in MAX and uploaded the certificate, when that now stopped working I´ve tried just about everything including editing the wpa_supplicant locally on the myRIO.
To put it short I´m stumped at this, and the fact that it worked for a while doesn´t help O.o
    Cheers,
     Bjørn

    Hi bjornsol,
I managed to connect a wireless cDAQ to eduroam by
    Uploading the certificate in MAX
Entering the user name and network secret for PEAP, IP adress set to "DHCP or Link Local"
I can also confirm successfully accessing the device from a eduroam connected computer. Remember to configure a password for your device, it will otherwise be accessible to other eduroam users.
Ask the IT department at your university for a valid certificate. I downloaded this certificate from the KTH eduroam web page, not sure it will work for you if you are registered at another university.
If this doesn't work for you, please upload a screenshot from MAX when trying to connect to the network.
    Best regards,

  • Why does the WPA Enterprise Wifi Network not get displayed?

I wanted to connect to the wifi of my university via eduroam and was not able to even get the eduroam network displayed in the list of Wifi networks. I'm sure that it was there, because I tried it on several spots and my laptop was always able to find it and connect to it. Could it be that WPA Enterprise is not supported? It's quite standard already, isn't it?
There would be a second option to connect to an open network and add a VPN tunnel, but I could not find any vpn-Application for Firefox OS.
Did I oversee something or is there really no possibility to access any of my university networks?
I am using an Alcatel One Touch Fire (German language set) with current Firefox OS 1.1.0.0-prerelease

It seems to me that WPA Enterprise is not currently enabled in Firefox OS.
There are several bugs regarding this feature, among others: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790056
Regarding VPN, there is a recent thread, which also indicates that this feature is not currently supported. See the discussion here:

It also lists the bug-id related to this features.

  • "Wifi: No Hardware Installed" Macbook Pro 10.7.5

My Macbook has recently been having issues with the Wi-Fi. I had faulty hardware and had it replaced. After I got it back the wifi worked fine for about two weeks but then it started having issues again. I took it back in and they whipped the hard drive so I took it back to my schools IT and they installed our eduroam wifi software as well as microsoft office programs. They then dualbooted my computer with a windows side. Everything worked for a few days but now It says no hardware is installed. I have ran a hardware check(option+D, extended test) and it says everything is fine. I dont know what to do. Please help me!!!

Sorry, but not sure what your question has to do with an Apple router.....the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.  One of these devices:

  • Blackberry 9300 g3 curve and Eduroam

I have recently bought a Blackberry 9300 3g curve but I am not able to connect to Eduroam at my work (University of Twente) and I am frustrated. I tried several things but simply it did not connect. However, I can connect to the WiFi network of the university if I login as a guest. But it is valid for one day only. I am sure that some one must have found a way to connect to Eduroam in the Netherlands and will be very grateful if you can help me in setting up my blackberry.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • Q5 WiFi Problem

    Hi everyone,
I've got a very strange problem:
At University I use the eduroam WiFi Network, everything works fine with that. But somehow the Q5 won't disconnect properly: when I'm back home it still says conneted to eduroam, which is of course far out of range already. That wouldn't be much of a problem if I could at least disconnect, but that doesn't work either. Instead I have to restart to be able to connect to my home WiFi again.
Has anyone got an idea, what's going worng?
    Thanks!

Do you have a data plan as well? If yes try disabling it and try again!

  • IOS mail client not working in certain wifi networks

    Hey,
    this is driving me crazy:
When I use my iPad or iPhone within our universities eduroam wifi network, receiving and sending mails does not work.
I am using a google apps account. One would say, ok that's due to some IMAP and SMTP port blocking. However it isn't. Using my android phone with the same settings it just wouldn't work ... Never!
Using my iPad in other networks works just fine ...
Please help me with some suggestions.
    Jacob

It could be the network, but what surprises me is that nothing else is being blocked at all. And I can't seem to change the port that Mail is on. I tried a port scan, and it came up that that port is blocked (993), but it also came up that every other port I tried was also blocked. I used a Mac to do a Port Scan for my iPad's IP, but it wasn't detecting any open ports. So I don't know if it is an issue with the network, or perhaps with my iOS devices. The network has 802.1X security I believe (I need a username and password to login), so unsure if this would affect it at all?

  • Apple configurator installing wlan profile eduroam fails

    Hey,
i want to use apple configurator to install a wifi profile on some ipads. the preparing works but when i'm in supervising mode and try to install the profile there comes an error message with following error codes:
    4001 profile installation fails
    4001 profile couldn't be installed
1009 the profile "xxx" could not be installed
13000 wifi network "eduroam" could not be installed
13004 wifi network "eduroam" could not be configured for EAP
all i want is that the user has to enter his username and password when the wifi network appears because every staff member has it's own.
It would be great if anyone could help me!

Thank you kind sir. I have contacted Meraki to ask the all-important question of "Y U NO CHARGE MONIES?" and got a very helpful representative. I'm signed up now and going to start reading their documentation.
As far as the 16-port hub, I agree a larger one would be nice once I know what I'm doing but again I'm trying to be fiscally responsible with the tax-payer money we use. Many deployment models I read about online suggested keeping yourself to 15-20 devices at a time instead of going for the 30 device Apple says or the 49-port sync that Datamation has. I appreciate the feedback though. If this pilot expands I will feel more comfortable suggesting the purchase of additional equipment.
