Wifi won't turn off during stand by

Hello,
although I said so in in Wifi setup ("always turn off wifi during stand by"), wifi will not go off in standby. All account sync is disabled, all stamina options are disabled. Also, there should be no apps downloading or connecting to the internet.
Can someone help?
Thx a lot

Yes and no, if you sync multiple accounts and you had them set up to sync every few minutes, then your phone wont be idle

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

  • E72 WiFi Icon Won't Turn Off

Eversince I installed Whatsapp on my E72, the WiFi icon won't turn off. I've tried uninstalling Whatsapp to no avail. I've also installed NetQin to use it to manage resident apps. I've disable all non-core apps and the icon still appears.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm hoping that this won't drain my batteries excessingly.
    Many thanks.

This is not a solution...this is just closing your eyes to a problem...
When you set Show Wifi Connection to Never..it just stop displaying the icon...
After setting value to Never, just go and connect to WIFI...now the wifi icon will not be visible...
So if you are connected to WIFI then you will not get notified.
I would suggest dont install whatapp unless you are sure as it does some internal setting in Nokia so that wifi remains connected even after you remove whatapp...

  • IPhone won't turn off or connect to wifi

I have the iPhone 4S and recently I have been encountering many problems with it. I don't know if they are problems with the hardware or the software but my facetime hasn't worked in a long time and my phone hasn't connected to wifi in the past two months. Sometimes the wifi turns off and the bar to turn it back on is dim while other times it turns on but doesn't acknowledge anything to connect to. In addition to the wifi troubles, occasionally my phone screen will turn black for a little while and after some time it will just wake up. The apple doesn't show up so I guess that means the phone isn't turning off- just sleeping. Also, sometimes my apps won't load and then my phone will automatically turn off. Occasionally, my touch screen stops acknowledging the fact that I'm touching it and other times my phone won't turn off. I hold down the power button and the phone just goes to sleep. As you can probably tell, my phone has been malfunctioning a lot and it is starting to get annoying. I don't want my apps to be deleted because I have some that are no longer in the app store and they are very valuable to me. My computer storage is too full to back up my phone though. Any suggestions on how to solve my problem without deleting my apps or any of their saved information?
    Thanks,
         A frustrated iPhone owner

Hard to tell. However, since the iPhone does not have user serviceable components, once you opened the device, you forfeit any warranty or post warranty support from Apple and the forum. You are going to have to try and figure this one out on your own.

My Ipad2 won't turn off.  I have tried the reset method by holding both buttons down for at least 10 seconds, but this doesn't work.  I can't get onto the internet via wi-fi either (don't have a 3G card fitted).  All other functions seem to be working OK including charging. Not had this problem before, but I recently upgraded software to 5.1.1 so is there a bug in there somewhere?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Hello... can anyone help, my late 2010 MBA's - OS X Lion 10.7.5 wifi won't turn on after a deep sleep

can anyone help, my late 2010 MBA's - OS X Lion 10.7.5 wifi won't turn on after a deep sleep.. thanks..!

    Hi John,
Thanks for the additional information.  What I would try next is resetting System Management Controller:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
You can find the full article here:

If this still doesn't help, it would be time to take it in to be looked at.  You can setup an appointment at a Genius Bar by clicking on the following link:

  • TS1398 My WiFi won't turn on...on my iphone4s. What should I do?

My WiFi won't turn on....on my Iphone4s. What should I do?

Common problem with iPhone 4s.  You upgrade to IOS7 recently?  It killed my WiFi and bluetooth...  not happy on this end.
Apple thinks this was acceptable to have older devices be affected by the fall out...
I was able to get it back for a day by toggling airplane on and off, resetting network settings several times.  You MUST let the phone first remain off for a bit before trying this, seems its a heating issue as well.. but dont let them fool you into thinking its software.  It is NOT.

  • My LCD does not turn off during the call. I have a iphone 4. What do i do?

My LCD does not turn off during the call. I have a iphone 4. What do i do?

You may have a defective proximity sensor but try some basic troubleshooting first...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR won't turn off, just restarts

K7N2 Delta ILSR won't turn off, just restarts.  Every time I click on "Turn off computer" in Windows XP, it shuts down, but restarts again. Could this be OS related, or perhaps Bios related. My other machine, almost identical to this one, except that the other machine has BIOS rev 7.6 and this one 7.2.

PSUs seem to be yr favorite subject, but I'm afraid this time it's software. I experimented some more as the problem only occured after installing the Nvidia drivers. Comparing the system settings in the device manager before installing drivers and after installing them, reveils that the problem shows up when AGP HOST TO PCI BRIDGE is installed. When killing this item the PC shuts off properly. Unfortunately when turning back on, Windows automatically reinstalls the PCI bridge and I have the problem again. LOOKS LIKE A MSI SOFTWARE PROBLEM !
By the way I have a PCI graphics board and not AGP in the failing PC (the good one has AGP graphics).
    Now what?

  • My iPod Classic 160 is in disc mode and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize it - ¿how can I make it work again?

My iPod Classic 160 is in disc mode.  I responds to nothing.  iTunes doesn't recognize it.  It doesn't sync.  I've tried to restore and got error 1429.  Now it just stays in disc mode and won't turn off.  I'm keeping it connected to the charger so it doesn't go dead.  Is there anything I can do to resurrect my pod?

To get out of disk mode do a iPod Hard Reset.
Toggle the Hold switch till you dont see the red mark.
Press Menu and Center buttons simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON then release the buttons

  • I accidentally dropped macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!

I accidentally dropped my friend's macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!
I tried to turn it off and it didn't work... and I held on to the shift key too and it still doesn't work..
    Please help me..

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty.  And it seems there is much accidental damage.  Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.

  • I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S. It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S, 16 GB to the most recent version (8.1?).  I don't know what I was updating from, because I can't access that, but it was whatever was installed on it (I got it about a year ago, so probably 6.something).
It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync with my macbook plus, which is what I have always sync'd it to.  (I backed it up and sync'd it right before I tried to update the software.)
Since it originally froze almost 3 hours ago, it shows a white screen with the apple on it and a line underneath.  When I try to sync with my laptop, it says it needs me to enter a passcode on the phone, which I can't enter because the screen is frozen.  So I'm unable to access the iPhone portion of iTunes.
I have tried to turn it off, with no luck.  I have tried rebooting my laptop and syncing, but I still get the same result.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really wanted to wait to update the software, but I was having internet connectivity issues for the past 3 weeks, and Sprint suggested updating the phone's software.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

my ipad won"t turn off. there is a small window with an email text in it and it appears frozen on the screen. How can i turn the ipad off?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • My ipod touch is disabled and won't turn off, itunes doesn't recognize the device and i can't see the serial number on the back

My NOSY (now ex) husband did something to my ipod touch and it is now disabled. It was dead and I charged it and NOW the sucker won't turn off. When I connect to itunes i see a message that says i have to UNLOCK it with a passcode. I tried to get apple support but they want my serial number. Well...the ipod wont turn on!!! I've had it at least 6 years and have moved and I can't find my paperwork and WHO can read that serial number on the back? I know its kind of outdated (third generation, I believe)but its mine, I love it and it has ALL my music on it.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
