Wifi working but no iTunes or Apple TV recognition

My Wi-fi appears to be working, and I can access the iTunes Store, but the iPhone doesn't show up under devices list on iTunes nor under the remotes list on my Apple TV. Strikes me as a possible firewall issue, but I can't seem to track it down. I have the Windows firewall turned off, but am using Norton software to provide that protection, and have iTunes as checked exception. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I've had problems with the Remote app when I appeared to have a wifi connection but could not get the Remote app to connect with iTunes. I have previously posted the solution I eventually found at the following link:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8388641#8388641
This solution may or may not work for you but it's worth a try. I don't know how applicable it is to networks running under Windows since I use a Mac.

So resetting the iPad by holding down the Home and Sleep buttons together to reset it did the job.

  • HT1807 I can't get my iphone 4S to work in Brazil.  Wifi works but no phone service. Help!

I'm in Brazil and my iphone 4S with Verizon has no service. Wifi works but that's it.  I was told the service was activated and would work on arrival. I'm stumped! i've even had other iphone owners look at my phone and they can't figure it out. any thoughts?

You should contact Verizon and explain the issue. They are the only people who could troubleshoot International Roaming issue with authenticity.

  • Wifi works but no connection to Internet.

Wifi works but no connection to Internet. 2nd MacBook Pro on same wifi network works (but is using Snow Leopard while I am using lion 10.7.4). iPad works. Everything was working fine until yesterday.

Have restarted router several times. My laptop started working after I did something (under stress, hard to remember, but at least was repairing permissions, maybe more...). Now, the laptop next to mine (my girlfriend's) has the same problem I had. In Network Diagnosis, the first four lights are green, but Internet and Server are red. The router is not mine (we are renting) and not an airport express--it is a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz: WLAN light and light 1 (in series 1 to 4) are flickering. There is a separate light, Internet, which is not lit. I am writing this from my laptop which IS working from this router...

  • ITunes wifi working, but turn off on iPad2 automatically

Basically I need to have my computer and ipad in front of me to transfer files, it seems pointless to use the wifi function because the computer is just next to the ipad. I am using 5.0.1 iOS which has no problem to do the wifi sync (unstable but it works sometimes), however I cannot make the ipad constantly wifi sync to the computer, and it turns off itself, so I have to keep checking on ipad. Why is like this?

I cannot make the ipad constantly wifi sync to the computer
Don't sync via Wi-Fi if the iPad is connect to the computer and vice versa.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
That will restore Wi-Fi to factory settings.

  • WiFi working But Time Capsule cannot backup

Not Time Capsule backuo for 10 days but router still working as WiFi network still intact .
No ethernet connection to desktop which is Mac Pro

Model number or part number are much easier to work with.. apple has the tiniest print in the history of legal contracts I think.. plus poor contrasting colors so as to make their labels impossible to read.. but I think yours if the tall one.
What OS is the computer running?
This is stock standard Yosemite problem.. did you reboot the TC.. and if that fails do a full restart of the network in correct order??
Boeing aircraft and every PC ever made need this .. Macs too nowadays. As well as peripherals for them.
    http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/01/boeing-787-dreamliner-software-bug/
Doesn't it make you feel safe knowing the aircraft you're in needs a reboot occasionally to keep power turned on.
Have you checked the TM log to find out what the problem is?? Or what error message do you get?
Have you tried accessing the TC from finder in the Mac Pro??

  • My old PC no longer works but my iTunes account is on it, I don't want or need a new PC so how do I access my account?

My iTunes account is on my old PC laptop which no longer works so I have no access to update my iPod nano or back up iPhone etc. what can I do?

You can create "on-the-go" playlists on the nano.
You can't very well home share from a computer that isn't running. Your Apple TV can connect to your account and stream your purchases from iTunes in the Cloud.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device when you're ready to to pull back your non-purchased media which you presumably haven't backed up elsewhere.

  • My iTunes library works, but my iTunes stores comes up blank.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install itunes and it hasn't helped. I set up Apple TV and that seemed o be when it started, but not sure if it is a coincidence or not.

  • Original iPad WiFi works, but no WiFi icon

I know this started after I upgraded to 4.3, but I can't say whether it started immediately after installing 4.3.
My original 16GB WiFi only iPad has always been a champ when it comes to connecting to and staying connected to WiFi. Lately, I've noticed that the WiFi indicator just disappears, as if there is no connection. I am, however, still connected and everything works just fine.
I know that if I re-set or power cycle the iPad, it comes back, but after some period of time, the indicator will disappear again. I'm trying to pin down whether this is related to a 3rd party app in some way, but haven't identified anything yet.
    Any others with this issue?

    Hi,
One way to narrow this down to an app is to sync your apps 5 at a time then test your iPad Wi Fi. It could very well be an app causing the icon to disappear.
And help here for Troubleshsooting Wi Fi networks and connections

  • Wifi works but Internet doesn't work on MacBook, works on other computers

My Internet has never been a problem. two days ago it suddenly stopped working on my new mac book. I turned it off and restarted but the Internet (both safari and firefox) won't load. The Internet works fine on my roommates computers. Also at school the Internet is working normally. As well, the mac book says it's connected to our network but the pages just never load. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi JaschaW,
Can you try to update me with more specific details. The only idea I can think of now, is for you to :
    1) Open System Preferences>Network.
    2) Click on Airport, go to TCP/IP.....check if there's any setting being set to Manual on the IP address part.
OR you can try doing this....
    Shut down your mac.
Switch it on back......now quickly press the Apple Key + the "S" key. Hold it there, until a black screen is prompted. It will prompt you to type a command, in order for you to proceed to boot normally. Do that....after that another prompt....type "exit" without the inverted comma.
Try that....let me know if it works....
    Cheers

  • E4200 wifi works but ethernet doesn't work

I have a E4200 v1, connected with a few PCs by ethernet ports and various devices by wifi.  Now the wireless devices work perfectly but sometimes the PC via ethernet ports cannot connect to LAN and internet.  Can anyone help?  Many thanks.

Let’s just hope that the router’s Ethernet ports are not yet busted. By the way, are all computers connected to the router’s Ethernet ports having this problem? If so, then it would be necessary to upgrade the router’s firmware and reset the router afterwards. Reconfigure the router’s settings then check if the wired computers were now able to get a stable connection from the router.

  • Playing dvd's on my laptop works but not with the apple tv viewer. What's going on?

My macbook pro with retina display works great when viewing dvd's with a usb DVD drive. As soon as I connect to the Apple Tv viewer the screen goes grey on my lap top and on my tv. What's going on?

if it worked it would be breaking the law
dvd's and blueray for that matter have an encryption which airplay would have to remove for it to work and thats not legal
to do some people report that some version of the vlc player works with airplay but that would mean they break the encryption before displaying it on the mac screen and as such break the law

  • Wifi works but Airport Utility cannot find Time Capsule Device

I just upgraded my home network to a MacBook Air, with Lion OS, plus a 2TB Time Capsule running the wireless.   I have my DSL modem connected directly to my Time Capsule.    I also have a USB printer attached to the time capsule.   When first configuring everything all systems were a go.  Using the Airport utility in my Mac I was easily able to find and configure my Time Capsule.   I was also able to print wirelessly from my Mac to the USB printer.    All working as advertised.
However, after letting my computer go into sleep mode or sit for an extended period (more than an hour) the whole system blows up.    I am still able to access the interent through the wifi, however the Airport utility in my Mac no longer can see the Time Capsule, and my wireless printer says it is no longer connected.    The only way I have found to rectify the situation is to reboot the entire system (Mac, Time Capsule and Printer).   This is effective in returning the system back to normal, however this is not what I had in mind for my new Mac based wireless system.

  • Ipad3 No service, keeps searching but wifi works

WWhy do I have NO SERVICE for my status line.  Wifi works but ipad keeps searching and draining my battery.

WIFi always shows searching even when connected. This is to discover additional WiFi networks. It does not increase battery usage.
No Service refers to Cellular Data. It indicates that is no cellular service at your location. To turn off the cellular service message use Settings > Cellular Data and turn it Off.
