Wifi wpa

Hello everybody, I've got a problem with wpa. At university we use edoruam network which uses wpa encoding. Through plasma widget in KDE I can find this network fill in all required information about security in a form but it doesn't connect (it fails at authorization). I would like to use some gui for connecting and not wpa_supplicant.conf file. So I tried wpa_gui but there I can't see a network card. I have read some articles how to configure it but the result is that I am confused more than before.
Connection to non secured networks works ok.
Does anybody knows where the problem can be?
I have HP ProBook 4710s, network card: bcm 4312, driver: b43, and 64bit Arch

It works through netcfg now, althought it didn't before. I have blackmailed networkmanager in DAEMONS so network widget in KDE shows no connections. I would like to control everything from this widget but I am very carefull (so glad that it is woking now).
Does anybody know how to do that?

  • N95 Wifi WPA connection problem

I recently bought the Nokia N95 and everything is working except the wifi WPA part. I DL the latest firmware (v20.0.015) but that didn't help.
Everytime i connect with my home wifi lan it asks for a password. It doesn't matter what password i try it says "invalid pre-shared wpa key" So even simple passwords like "12345678" or "merryxmas" don't work. If i change from WPA-PSK to WEP 128 bit WEP key then it works ???
This must be a N95 error ? I also tried tkip and aes but that didn't help. My Phone AP settings r:
    Network - public
    WPA/WPA-2
    Pre-shared key
    WPA-2 only - off
Does anybody has a working WPA wifi N95 ???

If I connect to the PC as "Mass Storage" I can see the phone as a removable disk and go into the file structure, just as I could in PC Suite mode. However, if try to drag and drop a file from my N95 to the desktop the phone bleeps intermittently every 2-10 seconds, the USB connection icon on the phone display will blink in time to the phone bleep. The "Copying" bar on the PC shows the file transfer occurring but extremely slowly. E.g. A 4Mb MP4 showed 3 minutes on the progress bar but after 10 minutes was barely a sixth of the way through.
It appears that the connection betweeen the phone and PC is only active when the phone bleeps, in the periods of silence there is seemingly no activity. I think this because if I look at the file structure on the phone, while the trasfer is taking place, the window will freeze until the next bleep of the phone.
Maybe someone can recommend a brand and model USB2.0 PCI card (preferably also with firewire) so that I can buy one that I know works?

  • Copy and paste WiFi WPA key in Lucid

How can I copy and paste a 63 character WiFi WPA key in the LG Lucid phone?  The key is totally random and the chances of typing it correctly are slim at best.  The WPA  standard allows up to 63 character for a key.  I would like to put a file on the SD card via usb and then somehow paste the key into the correct WiFi setup field.  Seems to be a pretty basic capability ...
    Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Polaris Office, but perhaps it doesn't read .txt files. If it reads .doc files (MS Word documents), you could just put the key into that kind of file and put it on the SD card for Polaris to open.
The trick with copying and pasting on Android phones is, as Tidbits said, to tap and hold the text. That might bring up a menu offering the option to select a word or select all, and then if you choose Select Word a rather goofy and awkward-looking pair of pointers that you drag to move the beginning and end of the selection. Or it might bring up the pair of pointers directly, and tapping on them will give you an option to select word or all. In any case, once you've got the text selected with the pointers, it will then offer options to copy or cut the text. Frankly, with my clumsy fingers it's taken me several months to develop any skill at this at all.
Of course, in this case choosing Select All would be simplest, if all there is in the file is the WPA key.
You may only have to do this once. On my Samsung Stratosphere, once I had logged onto my home WiFi one time the procedure has been automatic ever since, and the connection occurs seamlessly and quickly.
    Good luck!

  • Certificate Not Verified for Wifi WPA Enterprise

    Hi all
I have a MDM server to deploy profile to all enrolled devices (iPhone4s, iPad...etc) for wifi setting (WPA2 PEAP SSID: M_WEP_ENT).
But I found one issue, if users have ever connected to M_WEP_ENT and accepted Certificate.
After deploying profile to the users' devices, it shows "Not Verified" in Certificate while these users try to connect the wifi with specified SSID.
And I also install this profile with iPCU, but there is no this problem, iOS just directly to ask users for input user/password again.
The following is my profile plist setting, does any idea for this issue ?

Mifrett, don't panic. I'm here to assist you. It sounds like the software update may be conflicting with the software of the applications that were previously downloaded to your device. I recommend that you uninstall a few applications in Settings>Manage Apps> tap the app>tap uninstall application. Once you have uninstalled a few applications, power your device off/on. You may redownload the applications that you previously had. However, this time, the applications will be downloaded to your phone with the latest app software. I trust that these steps will improve the performance of your device. Keep us posted. We're here for you.

  • WIFI WPA-EAP won't connect as EAP method only shows SIM, how can I make it show more?

Trying to connect to a wifi connection which uses WPA-EAP security, with a username and password system (at work and I cannot change these settings).
My Android device connects with no issues, but my ZTE open C on Firefox OS will not...
Looking into my Android settings it is using EAP method PEAP; but the FFOS will only let me use SIM.
What is the workaround for this?
How can I connect my device to my work's wifi?

GAUTAM24, if you read the earlier reply you would see a relevant bug has already been filed.

  • Wifi (WPA-PSK) not restored after sleep?  (10.4.10)

    Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that their Wifi connection is not being restored after the MacBook comes back from a sleep?
I'm using a 2006 white MacBook (Core Duo) with 10.4.10, connecting to a Cisco 877W ADSL router using WPA-PSK. Cisco firmware version is (C870-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(4)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1), "flash:c870-advsecurityk9-mz.124-4.T7.bin" which seems to be current.
From a cold boot, there is no problem connecting to the wireless router, but after a sleep, the connection is not restored, and the router syslog shows repeated unsuccessful authentication attempts from the Macbook's MAC address.
Connecting manually to the correct network SSID doesn't resolve the problem: it just prompts for the WPA PSK keyphrase, which doesn't work if entered. Of course the correct keyphrase is already in the keychain.
As a workaround, switching the Macbook's Airport off and on again a few times eventually seems to get it working again, but it's slow and very clunky.
Can anyone else confirm this problem? It seems to have been introduced with 10.4.10, but I would like independent confirmation before reporting this to Apple, as I changed the wireless router around the same time as the 10.4.10 update appeared.
    Thanks,
    - Martin.
PS: I guess there are two morals to this story...
    1) Always clone your hard drive to a Lacie drive with SuperDuper before installing any Apple updates - so that you can back out any buggy updates without a full reinstall.
    2) Don't install any Apple updates within 2 weeks of installing other network changes - so that you can tell what's caused any issues.

The WPA auth problem still exists on a clean install of Leopard (and a full reboot is needed to clear it every time the laptop comes out of sleep) so I'll ring Apple Support and see if they can at least add it to their known issues list, in the hope of resolution later. It's quite likely that downgrading to WEP would be a workaround, but WEP is just not acceptable from a security perspective.

  • Wifi WPA Enterprise

    Hello,
My institution uses a very strict (apparently) WPA2 enterprise encryption. For wifi to work on my mac, I need to enter the 802.1x details manually from the network pref panel.
I need to enter TTLS authentification only (and leave PEAP, TLS, etc all disabled) and withint TTLS I need to specify PAP inner authentification.
If I do this, wifi works. If I leave the default settings (TTLS, PEAP, TLS enabled and TTLS with MSCHAPv2 as inner authentification) it doesn't work, and I obtain a "wrong username or password".
Now, with the iPhone I cannot specify any of these settings. I can only enter username and password for either WPA or WPA2 enterprise, and I keep on getting "incorrect user and password".
Is there any way I can configure my iphone correctly?
    thanks.
Pd. No.. there's no way I can get IT to modify the network configuration. It's a pretty big government institution that spans all over Spain

I believe that you need to use the iPhone Configuration utility. The Enterprise Deployment guide:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/Enterprise_DeploymentGuide.pdf
gives details on what parameters can be set.
DISCLAIMER: I have never used the utility and can offer no help on how to use it!

  • Wifi / WPA Security Issue- Need Help- Any solutions??

I've searched everywhere for a solution to this problem- it seems widespread, many people have had the same, but has anyone solved it? Desperately looking for a solution!!
Problem: I'm on OSX 10.4.11. Connecting to my wifi router via Airport from my Mac Pro. When any type of security is enabled at the router (WPA, WPA2, WEP, etc.), my internet connection gets dropped after a few minutes. This happens for other Apple devices on the network, like my iBook (also on OSX 10.4.11). Even my iPhone. Only short term solution is turning Airport off and on again. But the problem recurs after a few minutes.
With security turned off at the router, all is well. (But then I'm on an unsecured network.)
At first I thought it was the router, but the problem persisted with a new router.
Any help appreciated... this is very annoying yet I haven't found any solution anywhere...

Neither. The first was a D-Link and the current is a Tenda.

  • Ipad will not connect to wifi wpa/wpa2

My Ipad 2 will not connect to my Wifi setup.  I have a wireless router with a WPA/WPA2 security.  I have the password and I just keep getting the message unable to connect.  Any suggestions on how to solve this?

I don't have this exact issue. Mine will connect, but it drops the connection all the time. It's really frustrating. Searching for a solution, I've come across a few things that might help you. You could try turning off the wifi in settings and then turning it back on, going into the settings and restoring network settings, and going into settings and renewing your lease. I tried all of those things and none of them fixed my problem, but a lot of threads here mention them, so I assume they work for some people. I hope this helps!

I am actually moving into a house that will have a very similar setup.  I plan on using a hotspot but I need it to connect to my Time Capsule and wired Airport Express at the other end of the house.  I think what you are looking for is called "Wifi as WAN" capability.  This means it can take your wifi signal and rebroadcast it.  In my case and yours, we need it to convert the wifi to ethernet so it can go into our Apple Networking hardware.
    Check out:
PepWave Surf On The Go - This lets you convert the wifi signal to ethernet, or boost the wifi signal.
    http://www.peplink.com/products/pepwave-surf-on-the-go/
    http://3gstore.com/product/3498_surf-on-the-go-3g-4g-router.html
Cradlepoint makes some routers that are capable of Wifi as WAN
    http://cradlepoint.com/products/small-business-home-office-routers/mbr95-wireles s-4g-3g-router
    (Amazon) http://ASIN.cc/EEVxM0
I will probably go with the PepWave, since you can disable the rebroadcast of the Wifi signal.  I will use a hotspot and join the PepWave with it, then run ethernet into my Time Capsule and create a different Wifi/Wired Network with a different SSID. We will see.
Let me know if you try any of this stuff.  Cheers!

  • WiFi  - WPA - 802.1X - Bug?

    Hi guys,
sorry for posting this here in the discussion forums, but I don't really know where to do it.
I think, I just found a bug in the OS X Network Preferences. I tried to login into a WPA secured network. Therefore I had to import a private key file and a certificate. After doing that I had to configure a 802.1X profile. So I did.
But by clicking on the "Connect"-Button in the Airport preferences, it tried to access my MobileMe certificate and not that, that I imported before. SO it didn't work.
I had to delete the MobileMe certificates from the KeyChain to make it access the privateKey.
I was about to post it somewhere directly to Apple but couldn't find the link. Maybe you guys could do that for me?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards from Viena/Austria
