Wiki file attachments - can the wiki be configured to link to a file already on the server rather than uploading it into the page?
Can the wiki be configured to link to a file already on the server rather than uploading it into the page? This would enable users to open (and edit) the original server hosted document rather than downloading a static copy that can't be edited and synced back into the wiki page.
As a workaround I've tried attaching an alias to a file but it doesn't work - the wiki instead uploads the aliased file.
From what I can work out, the default wiki behaviour is to upload a document to a wiki page, which creates a copy of the uploaded document in the wiki database. This copy has no connection to the original document. It can be downloaded and edited, but the edits are not saved back into the wiki hosted version of the document.
I'd like to be able to upload a link or alias to a document (with preview please!) already on the server. A user could then preview the document or click to open and edit it.
The only way I can do this at the moment is to create a link "afp://123.../doc.rtf" to the original. This is timeconsuming and confusing for non-technical users and doesn't offer the benefits of the attach function (ie document preview).
Is there any way the wiki can be configured to link to documents already on the server using the attach functionality?
An update for anyone in a similar situation.
Patch 3944727 for 9.0.4.1 that solves this issue: "USER LOV IASM11SHIP EDIT USER LOV SHOULD SHOW THE NICKNAME ATTRIBUTE." However, the patch is mutually exclusive with the latest CPU's and there's no plan to merge the pacthes given the dwindling support for 9.0.4.1. So that patch is pretty much worthless.
I've been told that this patch is included in newer portal versions, so the real solution is an upgrade.

I've had an iPod Nano 7 (16 GB) for just over a year, and I don't sync my entire music library at once--just a few gigs of favorites plus current podcast episodes and an occasional audiobook. I recently received a second-hand 3rd generation iPad (also 16GB) as a gift, and pondered adding at least a portion of the music I carry on the Nano to the iPad. Is there a simple method in iTunes to just transfer the content from one to the other, rather than having to go over the list of songs on the Nano and transfer them from my PC to the iPad one by one? I've already tried copy & paste and drag & drop methods from iPod to iPad directly, and neither of those appear to be options in iTunes.
Barring that, is there a wired or wireless option for the two devices to communicate directly with each other, and allow the content on the Nano to play through the iPad--essentially using the iPad's sound system as speakers for the Nano, and eliminate the need to carry headphones or a portable speaker for the Nano? Note that I mean the two linking directly to one another, without using a wi-fi network (as I don't have a portable wi-fi hotspot) or other method of outside connection (the iPad is not cellular-capable). Just on a lark, I turned the Bluetooth capability on for both devices, and neither device detected the other, so I see that connecting via Bluetooth doesn't seem to be an option. (You may also note by the above that my understanding of wireless connectivity in general is limited, so feel free to correct me about any misunderstandings that the above may indicate).
Thanks for taking the time to read.The simplest method would have been to use one or more playlists to control what you sync to the iPod nano. You could then sync that same set of playlists to the new device. You cannot sync directly from one device to the other. All content is copied from iTunes. You may be able to export one or more XML playlists from the device, import those back into iTunes, and then add the playlists to your iPad.

My gen 4 ipod shuffle is not showing the green light when I switch it on (Green area shown). But when I plug it into the computer there initial orange blink and then solid orange. What wrong with it and how can I fix it.

I was researching the issue you are describing and had a recommendation. The device is very simple, so the software troubleshooting for it is pretty limitted so I think you shoud restore the iPod shuffle and re sync the content. Before Starting
It is important to understand the difference between "update" and "restore." Update does not affect your settings or songs, it simply installs updated software that controls iPod shuffle. Restore erases the disk and restores iPod shuffle to its original factory condition with updated software. If you only need to update iPod shuffle, this should be done on the computer where music is normally synced. Updating on another computer will result in all songs being removed from iPod shuffle.
Warning: Because Restore erases all songs and files on iPod shuffle, make sure to back up any files you've saved on iPod shuffle. Your songs, podcasts, and audiobooks can be synced back to your iPod shuffle if the items are part of your iTunes library.
How to restore iPod shuffle
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
Open iTunes, and then connect iPod shuffle to your computer.
After a few moments, iPod shuffle will appear in the Devices section on the left side of the Tunes window.
Select iPod shuffle under Devices and you will see information about it appear in the main iTunes window under the Summary tab/button for iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation) or the Settings tab/button for iPod shuffle (1st or 2nd generation).
The Version section tells you whether iPod shuffle is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
Click the Restore button. You will be presented with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4-possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software currently on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores after downloading the latest iPod Software on your computer.
If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress indicator will appear on the computer screen indicating that the restore process has started. Do not disconnect iPod shuffle during the restore process.
After the restore process is complete, the iPod shuffle's status light will flash orange continuously. The iPod Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences as you did when you connected your iPod shuffle for the first time.
When you come to step 7, I recommend Restore Option 4.

Go to Store > View My Account > Edit Purchase Info. Then just click "No credit card" and hit Okay, and it will remove all of the info. Good luck.

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -

Configuring alerts from PM server rather than workstations/servers

Hello, I don't think it's possible or at least not without using external software. The F-Secure Management Agent (FSMA) runs on the endpoints and creates the alerts there, sending them to an SMTP server and/or PMS. However, there is or there was an "F-Secure Email Reporting VB Script" that uses F-Secure Policy Manager Web Reporting (PMWR) to create MHTML and then send that file via e-mail. Scheduling is based on Windows Scheduling. In more ancient times, there was something called "Policy Manager Reporting Option 5.50" which provided a command-line interface and you could have possibly scripted it. However, that was way before the transition from FSPM shared folder model to the H2 active database took place, so it is now a museum exhibit piece of software I think. There are two standard protocols for receiving email, POP and IMAP. In the POP (Post Office Protocol) when messages are "read" by your email client (Mail) they are downloaded and stored on the reading computer and deleted from the POP server. When you are using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) the messages remain on the IMAP server until they are deleted. IMAP was created for exactly the situation you are trying to achieve. For example Apple's iCloud (formerly me.com, formerly mac.com) uses IMAP protocol. So whether I access my email on my Mac, my iPhone, my iPad, or via webmail I have access to all the files in all the various mailboxes automatically because they are all seeing and using the same online mailboxes. If I delete a message on any of the varioius devices it is deleted on all of the various devices.
Whether you can use IMAP protocol or not depends on your email host and whether they have an IMAP server or not. Many ISPs do not offer IMAP because they do not want to bear the expense of the additional disk space required to store the IMAP messages. As I mentioned before Apple's free email service is by default IMAP. Google Mail offers a somewhat non-standard IMAP service. It works with Apple's email client, Mail, but it is just a bit "different".
Personally I resisted using IMAP for years. Largely because I had always used POP and was comfortable with it. Once I got an iPhone and needed to synch my email between my computer and iPhone I realized IMAP was "the only way to go." -
I'm signed up to the Cloud and itunes match - the whole game. But I cam getting annoyed with having to delete songs one by one on my iPhone once dowloaded from the cloud as I only have a 16GB phone....yes I listen to music non-stop! So, I am thinking about getting an iPAD as I rarely use my MacBook Pro for anything other than surfing and music now... so the question is: "On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone (if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account where I know you can clear down and refill with ease)????

I am updating my phone to the newest IOS and it has been doing it for hours. I have now plugged it into the computer and it says that it is in recover mode and I should restore it? What does that mean? Do I lose everything on my phone? Is there anything else I can do?
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

It talks extensively about charging in the user guide, and how USB ports on PCs and older Macs may not provide sufficient power to charge the iPad. The user guide is available for free from the iBook store (accessed directly via the iPad iBooks app).
My iPad charges fine when plugged in to the back of my iMac, but I would always prefer to use the mains adaptor to save the strain on my USB circuits (which can wear out if used heavily to power external devices).
