Wiki Mailing List alias

hi,
it's possible to setup an alias to the auto generated email address for wiki mailing lists?
by default when creating the mailing list service for the wiki the name is name-wiki@domain, I would like to alias as name@domain
Also, since the wiki is private and accessible only for selected users, from my understanding, this email address (name-wiki@domain) accepts only emails (account short names in this case) sent from specified users?
There's no advanced setup for this kind of mailing list?

Same problem here. I think it's a known bug with wikid.
It's one of several "features" that doesn't seem to be very stable.
We've had the same issue with server side mail rules and push notifications.
In the case of the server side mail rules, I submitted a ticket to Apple about 6 weeks ago. They eventually told me they were sending the problem to Engineering. Last week they sent me an e-mail asking how this was impacting my organization.

  • Wiki Mailing lists

I am having a problems with wiki mailing lists, they were working fine for about six months then one day stopped the issue seems to be that the automatically generated list in Postfix is not finding the email addresses for the group.
All members of the group have email address showing up in the info tab of the WGM but still nothing seems to be generated.
If any one can add any insight I would be very grateful.

So do I. We upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.4. We have been using 'Mailing-Lists for groups' under 10.5 for years, and everything was easy. After migrating to 10.6 the radio-button in Server-Admin still exists, but it is not working any more. Strategic decission to feature the wiki system, without telling loyal migrators?
So we changed using the wiki-mailing-list function. Worked fine (though no welcome-messages for new users showed up, as promised, but who cares...) until we restarted the server for the first time. Messages went still straight to the wiki-site, but would not be delivered to the users any more.
After spending a week with '/etc/postfix/aliases', the 'newaliases command' and other fun stuff I discovered, that turning off or on 'Mailman-Mailing-List' in Server-Admin/Mail/Mailing-Lists does the job of refreshing the the '/etc/postfix/aliases' file that seams to be responsible to sending the wiki-emails to the defined users of the wiki.
Tell me if that does the job for you as well!
And yes I am talking about Mailman-Mailing-Lists to be turned *off or on*, and not about the Group- Mailing-Lists.
    Regards
    Robert

  • Wiki Mailing list with no content

It is still unresolved. If I create a wiki with a mailing list, and anyone sends an email to the list with any html content the email doesn't have any content if you want to see it in the wiki. Although all the persons receive the mail correctly in their computer
    Any solution? please

    Hi,
I am having same issue over multiple wikis and group mail lists as you have described. So far I am only looking up solutions on this community, and I do see you have have made multiple posts.
One thing I seem to find is it is without rhyme or reason, and that messages from US EN only, goes thru easy, while if sent from my Macmail (JPN), it gets stuck.
Attachments like a photo has gone thru so it is not attachments, but rather encoding.
    Size does not matter.
Simple text by default works very well if EN.
I was wondering if enabling more languages might help.
I will do more testing to find out.
    Pleased to hear.

  • Auto-tags for Wiki Mailing-List Archive

Is there a way to do this? I can't find any documentation.
    For example:
    E-mail/forward receipt.pdf to [email protected]
In the subject or first line of the e-mail you would add descriptive hash tags that would automatically add the "tags" to the mailing-list archive post.
    Subject: Generic Company Receipt #february #2011 #auto #gas
    Any insight on this?
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way to delete mail listing associated with a Wiki page?

There seems to be no way to delete mailed in entries to a wiki page. In other words when I e-mail to a wiki mail list such as [email protected], the resulting entry can't be deleted. Is there a way to do this?

You can do it if you know your way around the command line. Here's a quick article on it:
    http://rick.cogley.info/blog/index.php?id=7370998667621087152

  • Delete an entry from group mailing list

Does anyone know how to remove entries from a group mailing list?
There is no edit button and the list is not visible in mailman?
    Thanks in advance
    Gary Finch

I would like to know that myself! Afer a long search I was only able to find the following information:
    http://rickcogley.blogspot.com/2008/05/how-to-remove-leopard-wiki-mailing-list.h tml
I'd be glad to know if another (more user friendly) way exists. The MailServiceAdmin.pdf apparently wrongly suggests that mailmain can be used to administer server based mailing lists. Is there any "official" way to manage the mailing list and its web archive?

  • Wiki mail issue

    Hello
I have a few wikis running on my server but the most recently created has a problem with the Mail section:
All mail sent to the [email protected] is sent out to all subscribers and the mail is archived but the body of the mail is missing on the wiki pages so when clicking on the entry all I get is the subject line and no mail.
All my other wikis send out information and archive as expected.
Any ideas / input will be greatly appreciated

I have the same problem, I have posted the info that I have in this discussion: Wiki Mailing list with no content

  • How to enable mail list archives in the wiki?

I have had a group wiki for some time, but the group maillist service was not enabled until recently. When I enabled "server group mail lists" in Server Admin and selected the "Mailing list" option in WGM for this group, I hoped that the "Mail" tab would appear in the wiki after sending a few messages to the group. Not so.
Using the 'serveradmin' command, it looks like the listArchive option is disabled:
$ sudo serveradmin settings web | grep -i listarchive
    web:Sites:array_id:123.456.789.12:443wiki.mydomain.ca:mailingListArchive = no
When I try to change it, serveradmin echos "emptyarray":
    $ sudo serveradmin settings web:Sites:array_id:123.456.789.12:443wiki.mydomain.ca:mailingListArchive = yes
    web:Sites = emptyarray
...and the mailingListArchive attribute is still set to "no". Am I doing something wrong? How can I enable group list archives?
    Thanks!

Found it: Server Admin -> Web -> Sites -> Web Services -> Mailing list web archive. Then go back to WGM -> Groups -> Basic, and the option for mailling list web archive is no longer greyed out.
Checking the wiki after a webserver restart, I get the "mail" tab now. There are no emails in the web archive, but thats a different issue .

  • How to add text to the start of the subject for email sent to  wiki mail

When an email is sent to the group wiki email address (groupname-wiki@serverurl), I would like for the subject of the email to have \[groupname-wiki\] added to the beginning of the text. Can anyone suggest to me how to do this? What configuration file do I need to be looking at?
    Thank you.

This sort of thing can be done with procmail which is included with the SLS. However, the section for these aliases in /etc/aliases is auto-generated, and it gets reset if you mess with it. I think it's not possible to change it directly.
What you could do, though, is leave the auto-generated stuff alone, and ignore the main address of the mailing list, and put your own alias in first, that rewrites the subject line before forwarding to the main wiki alias. Then tell people to use the list that you want to have them use.
For example, two lines in /etc/aliases that you'd use:
    ================
    acmegroup: "| /usr/bin/procmail -m /opt/postfix/procmail-tag.rc {acmegroup} acmegroup-wiki"
    ### DO NOT MANUALLY EDIT THIS SECTION ###
    # This section is automatically generated
    acmegroup-wiki: , teamsserver@localhost, [email protected]
    ================
You need to learn how to write procmail code, but for this example, the tag.rc file you'd save in /opt/postfix looks like:

  • Mailing list set-up in OS X Server.

    Dear members:
I have been looking at different options for setting up a few mailing list groups. One of the best options I have found in terms of functionality and features is Listserv software but it is very expensive and is only available in a Unix version (no OS X available) which would require me to install it using terminal.
Two other options are DirectMail and OS X Server. According to the info page on Apple's web site setting up a mailing list in OS X Snow Leopard Server is a fairly simple thing to do. At least that is what they say.
According to your experiences how simple is it to set up a few mailing lists in OS X ? Please consider that I am an advanced user but without any advanced training in networking or programming.
    Thank you in advance,
    JRC

i have now resolved all my issues with the mail list functions on SL... and i am pretty confused as to why it is done like it is now. done... BUT... there are now TWO ways of creating lists in SL 10.6
1, the mailman way, which is a proper mail list server and can be relied on and has sensible mail handling and bounce control and aparantly no longer linked to workgroup manager or OD
2, the apple-wiki tool which uses a postfix alias populated with a group membership on creation.
SO... if you need a group that is linked to a OD group and you do not mind the complete lack of management and the fact that the mailing list will be called [email protected] then use mailing lists linked to wiki...
    OR
Use mailman... 10.6 has now removed the link between groups and mailman lists.. and you will soon loose the workgroup manager control (that no longer works) for integration with mailman lists... if you use mailman you have an industrial strength mailing list tool that you can sync with various other DB sources (inc LDAP) and has sensible bounce and mail handling...
it took me a while yesterday to finally realise what has really changed and what i need to do to work as normal.
My plan is to create a group in workgroup manager called "Mailing Lists" and then with a perl script interrogate OD for groups that are in my "Master mailing list group" and then sync the OD group user list emails with the list of the same name (as any group in the OD group "mailing lists") in MailMan.... which will give me OD managed group mailing lists again and also give me [email protected] for my list name...
i object to have to call a mailing list with a "-wiki" extension to the name, and i would like to automatically have people added to mailing lists when they are put in groups...
i am still working on all of this and i hope my findings are of some help.

  • JDO Spec Discussion Group/Mailing List

Is there a newsgroup, mailing list or other forum where users of the JDO
spec and it's implementations can discuss the spec, best practices, ask
general spec-related (rather than implementation) questions, etc?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have used the group mailing list feature and the group web service maillist archive.
In both cases the Mail service must be running. I set up the General panel to Enable POP and IMAP because I have users on those services. I did not Enable SMTP because I used my ISP for outgoing. I don't think you need IMAP or POP for teamsserver mail because no mailbox is created for that user by cyrus or postfix.
In the Relay panel set to accept SMTP relays from 127.0.0.1 and your server IP.
Use junk mail rejection from zen.spamhaus.org
In the Mailing lists panel Enable server group mailing list.
In the Advanced panel -> Hosting ensure you have a local host alias set for your groups domain.com
Group mailing list can be setup in WGM with Enable Mailing list for the group.
Group Mailing list web archive will only work when wiki/blogs are setup for the group.

  • Outlook connector - sending mail to alias'es doesn't work ...

    Hi,
We are using JES5 with the latest outlook connector (7.2.402.1)
The user accounts have mailalternateaddress entries that consist of their initials. ([email protected])
the uid is the same as their initials (ie uid=hda)
the main 'mail' attribute is made of firstname.lastname, ie '[email protected]'
In the UWC we are able to type 'hda' in the to: field or 'heidi.alloos', when we click 'send' the @domain.com is added and both mails arrive.
In the outlook connector, I need the same feature but there, i am only able to use heidi.alloos<enter>
When I try to type 'hda' , outlook says 'microsoft office outlook does not recognize 'hda', probably because this entry is - by default - nowheree to be found in the global address list
Is there a way to obtain the same result in outlook, possibly by tweaking some of the entries in the LDAP tab in the outlook connector deployment tool ? When I go to the addressbook in outlook, and perform a find based on the alias field, it does find the user, so somehow outlook should be able to find it rightaway, yes ?
    kind regards,
    Tom.
