Wiki Server "blogs and tags"

I think the "more" menu item is ridiculous.
There are only two items there (blog and tags).
I don't see why those two links can't be listed along with the other main navigation links (Home, Activity, Documents).
Even worse, this actually makes it all but impossible for people to (easily) find the blog and blog updates.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

I play with this file
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/config /initializers/register_apple_plugins.rb
I have been able to remove menu items that I don't want.  You might want to try changing the order of them (I have not tried this)
What I have done is also changed the main menu so one of the links is the calendar.  The other thing I did was diable people but when you click on the icon above my name it goes to a wiki instead.  If the wiki of the user does not exist then kicks you to a page "file not found"  or if you do not have access you cannot see it.
I wanted the people pages options without the security problems.
Just remember for the changes to take effect you have to stop and start the wiki.  To edit the file I will copy it on the desktop and then once finished copy it back.  Keeping a copy of the original is also a good idea.

  • Wiki server blog enclosure URL malformed?

    Howdy,
I am on Leopard 10.5.8 server and trying to use the Web Server wiki blogs (Group blogs, not individuals) to generate RSS that I will pass to iTunes U. I have gotten everything working, including SSL and the feed validates, but I have one problem: The URL to the enclosed media file in the RSS does not have the https, only http.
All other instances of http in the RSS are correct (https). Does anyone know where the enclosures are generated? I have check /usr/shared/wikid/lib/python/apple_wlt up and down, but have had no luck.

The server homepage makes XMLHttpRequest calls via JavaScript to /collaboration-availability/[servicename]/ in order to discover if a service is enabled for a particular virtual host configuration. Those URLs are aliased (or rewritten) to point to /usr/share/collaboration/availability/index.html if the service is enabled. If the request returns anything other than a successful response then the JavaScript assumes that the service is disabled.
I would first look to see what Apache is returning for the XHR requests. Also make sure that Apache has permission to access the availability file. You might also want to look at the javascript console in Safari to see if there are any JS errors.

  • Can't log in to wiki server

Everything was working fine with my wiki web site a couple of days ago.  This morning when I tried to log in, I couldn't.
I can get to the main wiki page: https://tewiki.trilleng.com but when I click on "My Pages" or "Wikis" or "Blogs" and try to log in, it just shakes it's little square head "no."
I tried to log in at 02:35:32. Here are some log entries at that time:

    Thanks!
    Luis

    Found and fixed the problem.
In the file /Library/Logs/wikid/error.log was this:
    exceptions.IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer/entityList.plist'
I checked the WikiServer directory and the files there were owned by user:group root:admin.  They're supposed to be owned by _teamsserver:_teamsserver so I did a chown on that whole directory:
    sudo chown -R _teamsserver:_teamsserver WikiServer
After that I was able to authenticate with my wiki server.
I wonder if I can give myself 10 points for providing the correct answer.  :-)

  • How to delete old unused blog tags from Wiki Server 3 in Lion Server

My Tags index in my Wiki Server 3 wiki (Lion Server) still shows old tags that are no longer in use.
But, how in the world does one remove them?
    Any help?   Thanks.

I figured it out, but had one hoop to jump through.   I hadn't noticed a tiny little edit button in the far upper right corner of the tags window.   Clicking it reveals red minus signs next to each tag.  That's how to delete a tag.
BUT, since my tags were no longer in use (I'd deleted the original blog(s) they were attached to, when I tried deleting them I got an error message.   So, I created a dummy blog entry, tagged it with the same tags that I want to delete, saved the blog, then went back to the all-tags view and deleted them (they existed this time).  After done, I deleted the temporary blog.   All done.
It seems clear that the WIki 3 Server is very primative in many ways.  I hope Mountain Lion reveals a host of improvements.

  • Can't delete a blog comment from Lion Wiki Server 3

Started the Wiki Server on my Lion Server today and as a test I added a test comment to a blog.  After I saved it I wanted to see if I could edit, change the content or just delete the comment outright.  The answer to all three is that I can't.  I am logged in as the owner the wiki and the administrator for the server.  I looked at the documentation and it appears that I should be able to do all three, but no luck.  Any help would be apprciated.

You'll get a lot more help if you go to the Lion Server forum. The folks here mainly know about the client OS.

  • 10.5.7 update Wiki, blog, and Calendar stopped working

I'm running 10.5.7 server and like a noob, I updated without giving others a chance to figure out what problems might arise from this monster. My server is a live machine and unfortunately I sorta need this working ASAP.
Now that I've updated, none of my web services work. The basic site works, but the wiki/blog thing says there's no available groups. In workgroup manager, when I select a group (Library in this case), I want to be able to enable wiki and blog and Web Calendar. They're grey because now the "Enable the following services for this group on: (None)" is selected. When I click on the 'None' button there's no option to choose my community site.
In Server Admin, when I select "Web", then select my site. Then click, Web Services... Wiki and blog is checked. Also, the access list is blank, as it's always been...
Here's a look at the most recent error in my /Library/Logs/wikid/error.log before today, I'd never seen anything like it...

*edit* One more thing. When I select a user in WGM and click 'Advanced', then enable calendaring, I can't select a calendar host. There's no items in the list like there was before. It hyst says 'No Calendar Host Selected'. Again, this is enabled in the web services in Server Admin. Help!

    Server Admin -> web
select the website in question, make sure it is checked as enabled
Server Admin -> web -> Web Services
make sure the users/groups that require access are displayed, otherwise click and add them
    Check Wiki and Blog
    etc...
    save
    Workgroup Manager -> Groups Icon
    Select the correct group
Select the website that you want (www.your_domain.com) from the popup menu where it says : Enable the following service...
    Check Wiki and Blog
    etc...
    save
    Server Admin -> web
    Stop
    Start
    That should do it...
If you try to access the wiki on localhost it won't work, you need to go to the actual domain
    http://www.your_domain.com
on an intranet if you are using private dns you can create a test website for example
    DNS -> your-server-name.mac.private. -> 192.168.1.150
and you select the correct private site, you can
http://your-server-name.mac.private and you should see it fine
    Best of luck...

  • Manage Tags in Wiki Server?

    Hi
Is there any way to 'manage' Tags in the Wiki Server.  We have some students posting swear words etc as Tags as unauthenticated users.  Is there a way I can force them to authenticate before they can add tags?  Failing this, is there any other way I can manage this?
    Regards
    Chris

Apparently you can. Upload any image using the Add image (not the attachment) button in edit mode.
Once uploaded. While still in edit mode. Click on the same line right "before" the image, not on the image itself... in the white space.
A new button will appear in the edit toolbar at the top it will say Link (down arrow).
Click that... it works just like normal links, and you can link that photo anywhere.
Click Save... now when you click the image... instead of getting another window with the preview... you get redirected to the URL you provided.

  • Wiki server without blog possible?

    Hello,
is there a possibility that not every user can create their own blog? I can not moderate the wiki if users create their own blog and enter the Administrator no access.
    Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but this is not what I mean. I have already tried many settings, this I describe a few lines later ...
My problem, or my found bug:
The admin has created a wiki and a user is granted read access. Now the user can also create your own blog:
goto "My User Settings ..." in the top of the site
    enable blog under "Gerneral> Services"
gives admin no right under "Blog Permissions"
I've tried changes in the following files:
    /Library/Server/Wiki/Config/collabd.plist
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/collabd/coreclientwiki/pu blic/javascripts/settings.js
Also I tried to export the wiki, so a script can search for user blogs.
    No Success.
Apple please help: To "OS X Server 10.6" I could disable blogs with the "Server Admin App". Please reactivate this feature, or what options I have?

  • How to deploy the Wikis, Blogs and Discussions Sample Portlets ?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to deploy Wikis, Blogs and Discussions Sample Portlets located at
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/release11_demos.html (the demo at the bottom).
I've successfully, deployed the portlet to WebCenter Portlet service using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0.
And I've successfully register the porlet proivder in 11g Portal.
However, when I added the portlet to a new page, it returns error
"Error: Could not get markup. The cookie or session is invalid or there is a runtime exception".
I've recreated the page and refresh the screen. But still got the error.
    Anyone know what's going wrong?
    Thanks!
    Larry

I found that the sample code has hard coded the WikiRemoteService to be
    http://localhost:7001/owc_wiki/services/WikiRemoteService
Our environment use another port. After chaning the port number, both interfaces of Wiki and Blog (I just added the two portlets in to a Portal 11g Page) could be loaded. Also, I can create blog, blog entry, add comment via the Blog interface.
However, Wiki portlet seems not working properly. The request I submit via the interface (e.g. show wiki) returns me error
"The service does not appear to be responding. Please enter a valid url."
    Anybody has idea?
    Thanks.

  • Tags don't autocomplete in Wiki Server

Since the upgrade from 10.7 Server, previously-used tags don't autocomplete when added to a wiki page. There's nothing informative in the logs. Otherwise the server seems to be working. Before filing a bug report, I'd like to know whether anyone can confirm.

There is completion, but it only seems to work when you click the "Allow user to administer this server" checkbox in the Users section of the Server app. Must be a permissions issue.

  • IWeb's blogs and Apple's weblog server

Has anyone looked at the use of iWeb/blogs and Apple's web log server app on the server side? The more I use iWeb for a personal project on my .mac acct, I think about using it in commbination with our Apple Xserve/ OS X Server at work. But the two (iWeb and OS X Server weblog server) seem like conflicting applications? Comments?

acct, I think about using it in commbination with our
Apple Xserve/ OS X Server at work.
You should be able to use iWeb blogs on your own server, but you won't be able to have comments and attachments, those functions are disable when you publish to a folder.
Comments and attachments use some special webojbect+ js, append the following to your summary or .Mac blog page and you'll see what I mean.
    blog_page.html?wsc=enrty.js
    blog_summary.html?wsc=summary.js

I was able to do this by logging in with FTP. I deleted contents of the "Collaboration" folder, restarted and set up my sites. It all worked like new.

  • Use Compressor to create iPad Ready Viedo and host on OS X 10.6 Wiki Server

    Hi Everyone.
This might be in another Forum but I think the problem is with conversion as other videos on my wiki server work just fine, especially on my iPhone 3GS.
I've tried all the AppleTV presets and now I'm exporting an HD Video with the following settings:
    Name: H.264 for iPad
    Description: H.264 1280x720 video @ 5Mbps, progressive. Audio is 44.1kHz, stereo
    File Extension: m4v
Estimated size: 1.07 GB/hour of source
    Device: Apple TV HD
    Frame sync rate: 5 seconds
    Video Encoder
    Format: QT
    Width and Height: Automatic
    Pixel aspect ratio: Default
    Crop: None
    Padding: None
    Frame rate: (100% of source)
    Frame Controls: Automatically selected: Off
    Codec Type: H.264
    Multi-pass: Off, frame reorder: On
    Pixel depth: 24
    Spatial quality: 50
    Min. Spatial quality: 50
    Temporal quality: 50
    Min. temporal quality: 50
    Average data rate: 2.56 (Mbps)
    Maximum data rate: 14 (Mbps)
    Audio Encoder
    Format: MPEG4
    Sample Rate: 44.100kHz
    Channels: 2
    Bits Per Sample: 16
    AAC encoder quality: high
    Data rate: 128 Kbps
Safari on my MacBook Pro plays the video beautifully but my iPad just hangs after trying to play. I can see the arrow shaped play button just fine. But no video. Also, I'm streaming it over the local network so I'm sure it isn't my bandwidth.
    Thanks guys!

Thanks Eric! It went smooth like a summer breeze.

  • Short Names and Long Names on Wiki Server

I have my Snow Leopard server bound to an Active Directory server and it all works great with not problems. One thing I did notice however, is that when users login to the Wiki server using their AD account and reply to a post (leave a comment) or edit a page, then their short name will appear instead of their long name.
This problem does not affect all my users, only some. About half of my users long names appear and the rest only display their short name. I checked the directory settings in AD and WGM; both have the name attribute filled correctly for all users but only some are displaying on the Wiki.
    Any ideas?
I created augmented user records for my staff but not for my non-staff users. This problem only affects my non-staff users. I don't really want to create augmented user records to get around this; and anyway, it is working halfway with out them, so it shouldn't be an issue with augmented records, right?
Thanks for your brain power in advance

I apologize. I was unclear in my description of my new problem. I have some users using Mail.app and others using Entourage. I've encountered the "file too large" problem with Entourage users. For the record, I'm using the backup program iBackup. In the log file it creates, it states that the Entourage database file is too large.
For example, one person has a 2.6GB Entourage database file. iBackup will start copying and get to around 2GB, maybe 2.1 or 2.2. It will then appear to quickly finish. Looking in the backup folder on the server, it shows the entirety of the Office 2004 Identities folder to be 96KB....
Is this some sort of weird limitation on the part of Windows Server 2003 and how it deals with communication from Macs, or is it just an issue with iBackup? I have copied much larger files using iBackup to back up to a locally-attached Firewire hard drive successfully, so I am leaning towards a strange Windows Server issue.
    Thanks for any input!
