Wikipanion App; Can't move its icon

After downloading Wikipanion updates today, I find that I can no longer rearrange some of my app application icons.
I hold the icon I wish to move and slide my finger once the icons begin to boogie but the image of the icon I'm moving is delayed by a full page distance from my directing finger. Then when I release my touch, the icon I'm trying to move simply snaps back into its previous location.
I've rebooted, reset, and resynced several times to no avail.
I sure hope I don't have to repeatedly go through the restore cycle to correct this problem.
Also, the backup while resyncing takes forever after this icon problem appeared. Is my iTunes calling home with excessive error reports the cause of this slowness?
Is the app update software is failing to write to disk correctly? There sure seems to be a corrupting influence somewhere in this updating process.
Can anyone offer a cure or even a clue here?

Similar problem is happening to me.
I downloaded 5 updates today. As usual they appeared at the last screen. But I have been unable to rearrange them now. Whenever I drag an icon to a different screen, as soon as I get it there "poof" it disappears from my finger and then it is back at the original screen.
To make matters worse, 2 of my icons has disappeared completely now. I am at a loss for what to do.

Press and hold the icon until they start to wiggle. Then while holding it, drag it to the edge of the screen and wait for the page to switch, then let go of the app

  • OSX Yosemite: I can not move the icons on my display. They always jump to an other position

    Hello,
I updated my OS X to Yosemite last week.
First problem: Since then, I can not update several applications any more. Yestersday, there where 5 updates: iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages and Numbers. iMovie and iPhoto updates were ok, but for the other 3 I received a message ""Update Unavailable with This Apple ID.This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"". As far as I know, I was never refunded, or I never cancelled an app that was originating from Apple. I even don't know how to di it !!
Second problem: I can not move any more the icons on my display. And sometimes thy are moved to an other position after start. For example: the Mackintosh HD and the external Time-Maschine HD were always in the right upper corner on the display. This morning, after starting, they were in the left lower corner!! No way to slide them back to the other side. They always jump back to the lower left.
    HEEELLLPPP !!

    Hello,
Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible) by: Klaus1
Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks' for Leopard.
Keep your Desktop as clutter free as possible!

  • Can't move desktop icons around

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite, and when I try to move my desktop icons around the desktop they snap back to where they were before I tried to move them.  I have tried changing settings and restarting my computer.
    Cheers,
    Adam

Hi. This doesn't resolve the problem on my end. The icons still can't be re-arranged or moved around. Sure, they will adjust to "Set by Sort", but I still can't drag them around, say from one folder into another. They are fixed to their spot.

  • Can't move music icon

When I updated to ios5 I'm unable to move my music icon, the only way that I can get it to move it at all is by moving other icons around it. I've backed up/restored and set up as a new phone. Anyone else having this problem?

Is the box on the iPod Touch's Summary tab that says "Manually manage music and videos" checked?

  • Bought a Iphone 4 S, how can I move the icons onto 1 page?

I tried holding an icon down til they all wiggle, and as I understand you used to be able to move icons from page 2, to page 1 by dragging it to the left, but I am unable to do this. Help please

Try again, that's how you do it assuming there's room on page 1.  Really push them over to the side.
If that doesn't work, do a reset.

  • I hate the nook book app can I move my books

  • How can I move an icon from one space to another?

My desktop is cluttered with different projects.
I thought spaces might be a solution to my problem.
So I added a desktop.  Now I want to take some of my desktop items from my first desktop and place them on the second.
How can I do that?  Or is that not the purpose of spaces?

Right the Desktop is the Desktop is the Desktop no matter how many you have. Anything placed on the desktop, and it will be in /Users/YourUserName/Desktop, will show on all the desktops whether one or 25.
The only way to have independent desktops is to have 2 or more user accounts. Each one will have there own Desktop in their user account.

  • Upgraded to 1.1.4 tonight and now I can't move icons.

I finally upgraded my firmware to 1.1.4 tonight and now I can't move my icons. No matter how long I press an icon, they never start to wiggle.
I've restored the iPod completely and that didn't help. I reset the homepage settings, no luck.
Don't know what else to try.
    Any ideas?

Just found it myself and was going to admit that I was wrong and you was right
I still can't believe that an Apple employe has sent it out - it might just has slipped. But the subject of so many questions in this forum should either be adressed official or not at all. His Steveness is getting sloppy

  • Dock Problem - Can't move or delete icons

Hey guys, just installed Leopard and now I can't move any icons in the dock around and I can't delete them either. I had Sherlock in the dock on Tiger and now it's a question mark. It won't let me delete it. Let me clarify a couple of things, I'm logged in as administrator and i've verified and repaired permissions. Can't figure it out what the problem is, help if you can please!

It may be that Spotlight is still indexing. Choose the Spotlight icon the upper right of your Menu Bar and click on it. Does it say that is indexing? If so, wait for it to stop.
If not, Go to /Users/~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and com.apple.dock.db Drag these 2 files to the desktop and log out and in or restart.
EDIT: Sherlock is not installed with 10.5.

  • My itunes deletes all of my apps, music and movies every time i go on it and i have to recover it, its such a painand if anyone can help please dont hesitate to comment

Every time i go on my itunes its as if i have just got it and i have never used it before it's as if it resets over night and the next day i have to load all my apps, music and movies back on to it. if anyone can help or if anyone knows someone who can please say something because its a right pain in the neck. My operating system is Windows Vista and my Itunes version is 10.2.2.12
    please help

Your problem is normally caused by a program locking the iTunes library so that iTunes can't close properly. There have been a number of causes fro this.
There is a problem with media management software Vaio xml library Manager, the Vaio content manager and the Vaio Music Box software
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8537277#8537277
    Work around:
In Control Panel, turn off Vaio Content Folder Watcher and VAIO Content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager.
    Also see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2715
Sony has issued upgrades for some models, check you Sony download site to see if there is one available.
I would check the work around first.
If that's not it, try temporarily disabling you continuous backup to see if that is the cause.

  • How do i synch my pdf/books to my library. I was able to synch my ipod touch purchases by transferring them but can't figure out how to do my pdfs. Also why is my ipod picture greyed out-the one that lets my move the icons around.

How do i synch my pdf/books to my Itunes  library. I was able to synch my ipod touch app purchases by transferring them but can't figure out how to do my pdfs. Also why is my ipod picture greyed out-the one that lets my move the icons around.
I am afraid if i don't get the pdfs into my book library, i will lose them when i update to IOS 5-is that true?

thank you-i have to check into the authorization and the account-i gave my husband my old ipod when i updated last year so both at one time have been on this computer but as it stands, it only comes up with my device when i plug into Itunes.
i don't think i have any restrictions for installing apps although my normal way of doing it is to download from the ipod touch. i did find that all i had to do was right click on my device name and got the message to transfer my apps and then they showed up in my library. Also when i clicked the synch checkbox i was able to view the ipod touch picture without it being greyed out. after all that i was able toupdate to IOS 5 successfully except my videos and podcast, and pdfs  did not come over. This confuses me since i had dragged them over to my library to make sure that i had everything in my library and on my device. Not a big problem, since i just dragged them in itunes from my library to my device but sometimes i wonder if i understand the big picture:)

  • Can I move in-app purchases from one iPad to another?

There are a couple of my iPad's apps which I've used to make in-app purchases. If I get a new iPad, then sync these apps to it, will these in-app purchases 'survive'? Or do I have to buy them again?

Yes you can restore from the backup of the iPad 1. You will be restoring all this information here. I made "in-App Purchases" bold and larger so that it will stand out. The "settings" of the new iPad as you are thinking about it would really be the new features - the settings of any iPad are what the iOS does on the device.
You will have to sync your media back to the iPad - your apps, music, photos, movies, books, TV shows - but all of the information below will be restored to the new iPad when you restore from the backup. I copied this information below from this link.
    iTunes: About iOS Backups
iTunes will back up the following information
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
App Store Application data including in-app purchases (except the Application itself, its tmp and Caches folder).
Application settings, preferences, and data, including documents.
    Autofill for webpages.
    CalDAV and subscribed calendar accounts.
    Calendar accounts.
    Calendar events.
    Call history.
Camera Roll (Photos, screenshots, images saved, and videos taken. Videos greater than 2 GB are backed up with iOS 4.0 and later.)
Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
    Game Center account.
    Home screen arrangement.
    In-app purchases.
Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup with iOS 4 and later, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)
List of External Sync Sources (Mobile Me, Exchange ActiveSync).
Location service preferences for apps and websites you have allowed to use your location.
Mail accounts (mail messages are not backed up).
Managed Configurations/Profiles. When restoring a backup to a different device, all settings related to the configuration profiles will not be restored (accounts, restrictions, or anything else that can be specified through a configuration profile). Note that accounts and settings that are not associated with a configuration profile will still be restored.
Map bookmarks, recent searches, and the current location displayed in Maps.
    Microsoft Exchange account configurations.
Network settings (saved Wi-Fi hotspots, VPN settings, network preferences).
Nike + iPod saved workouts and settings.
    Notes.
    Offline web application cache/database.
Paired Bluetooth devices (which can only be used if restored to the same phone that did the backup).
Safari bookmarks, cookies, history, offline data, and currently open pages.
Saved suggestion corrections (these are saved automatically as you reject suggested corrections).
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
Trusted hosts that have certificates that cannot be verified.
    Voice memos.
Voicemail token. (This is not the voicemail password, but is used for validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same phone number on the SIM card).
    Wallpapers.
    Web clips.
    YouTube bookmarks and history.
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
I have restored form backups several times - last night actually was the most recent. All of my settings were restored and I lost nothing. I have never made in app purchases, but they are listed in the information abaove. If you do the restore properly, you should be fine.
