Wil Blackberry ever catch up to Mac?

I'm just frustrated, I have been using Blackberry for years, but I'm a Mac user, I know tons of college kids who would prefer Blackberry over iPhone but all the new college kids have Mac's and since the support is so terrible for Mac users they go with iPhone, it seems like pretty bad strategy from Blackberry's perspective, they're going to become the new Palm Pilot in a few years...
Now that I'm done bitching..
1. Does anyone know a timeframe for Media Sync for Mac, seems like since it works with iTunes they should be making a Mac version soon, or am I wrong?
2. Will they ever actually make Blackberry Desktop Software for the mac instead of the very poor pocketmac software that has limited functionality?
I'm getting a new phone for christmas, and if the above two things aren’t satisfied I’m probably going to have to go to an iPhone... another good customer lost to iPhone, not because of it’s features, but because Blackberry is short sighted and won’t design software for their users.....

Yea but I keep all my contacts sync-ed with address book and calenar for mac, I like how iChat syncs with the address book for contacts and also for google talk within iChat so I can keep all my conacts together, I'm sure others do, I just want the full desktop software to actually be made and not have to find a work around... I can always just use bootcamp without the vmware and just boot up with windows to sync my blackberry and update the software. but then I have to buy outlook to sync the calendar and contact info together ... and I don't want to buy more things just to keep my blackberry sync-ed. It's a good suggestion though, lets just hope they figure it out soon.

I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)

Can Blackberry Calendar Overwrite Entourage for Mac?

I have a MacBook Pro, and I just started using Entourage, and synced with my blackberry for the first time using the blackberry desktop manager.
Notes, Contacts, and Tasks seemed to sync from my BB to my Mac just fine. However, I cannot get my calendar from my blackberry to sync to my Mac. I only input to my BB calendar, and would like it to transfer and overwrite Entourage.
Is there a way to do this?
I think I have all the sync boxes checked correctly.

One thing to check: when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

Using Blackberry as a Modem for Mac Book Pro

Does anyone know how to use a blackberry for a modem on a Mac Book Pro, running 10.5.5? I can pair the device with the blackberry, but it will not connect. Some say it works in parallels and virtualbox with windows, but i dont even know how to do that. Can anyone help?

My blackberry wont synch with my mac anymore

I downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and now I can no longer sync my Blackberry Bold with my Contacts or Calendar. I have the most up to date version of the Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac but it still will not transfer any records.
Help!!!

Try removing the BlackBerry software and redownloading it and installing. I had a similar problem with my BlackBerry, but uninstalling and reinstalling worked.

Blackberry wont open on my mac

when i had a regular pc i used to plug my blackberry via its usb cord and a file will show, letting me copy pictures and songs from and into the blackberry.
with my macbook pro when i do the same thing, it wont even show me that there is an external device plugged in. And yes ive got my external devices ticked in the general finder preference settings.
SO plz could anyone help..i need to get all my pictures out from that blackberry

Have you tried calling the cell phone service provider in which you purchased the blackberry from? They are surely to be the most knowledgeable source about how to install the software, whether it be on a mac or a pc. Good luck

New BlackBerry Desktop Manager software for Mac

Let me know if there is a better "BlackBerry" forum to ask these questions -- but just wondering if this software will backup Address Book on my Mac to my BlackBerry without erasing everything I've already entered into the Blackberry by hand the past 2 years...
...also we have the Enterprise (corporate account) BlackBerry license (BB 8820) - if I use the newly released BlackBerry Desktop Manager software will that make a real mess of things or is it compatible.
Thanks for any comments or references to other forums or such. I come here because everything I've done with computers since 1989 is MAC - and this is a great discussion site-- and yet my latest job is using BB's... (and most others are on PC's...)

As far as screwing things up, mine went fine. There were some comments about problems. If you go to crackberry. com, there is a Mac users area, under Forums/Blackberry Operating Systems and Desktop Managent.

I just received this reply from Mac Topia forum: "For Office 2011 we’re using Apple’s standard sync protocol, Sync Services, to enable synchronization with a variety of devices and applications, and third-party vendors provide plug-ins to enable Sync Services for devices like the Blackberry"
Is there a plug in as they suggest above?

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

Automatic transfer of Shared Library: does it "catch-up" when Mac back on?

I setup this feature and it works great, although it seems that both computers must be on and iTunes running for it to work.
Now, if the Mac (or PC) that "subscribes" to the main Mac's library (where I purchase music) was turned off, does it "catch-up' and transfers all purchases that have been made since it was last turned on?

Blackberry wont connect to my mac

Hey,
I just pulgged in my backberry Z10 to my Macbook and went through the process of installing my blackberry. After I installed my blackberry I had to restart my cmputer so I did. Now when i plug my blackberry into my mac nothing comes up? or after about 10 minutes of the phone being plugged in a message will pop up saying that unfortunately there was an issue and was uanble to connect.
What should I do?

Roadmap for Blackberry / Java Developers new to Mac

Hi,
I am totally new to the mac environment, and hope one day to start developing iPhone apps. I currently develop Blackberry Apps.
What I would like to see is a Clear Roadmap for developers who may have never seen a "Mac" before.
So far from my reaseach I have compe up with the following :-
1. Learn Objective C :- (Many docs / books available)
2. Understand the Cocoa framework :- (Again ADC etc has wealth of info)
Understand UiKit framework
Understand XCode / Interface Builder
3. Purchase an Intel Mac with OS 10.5 (any recomendations ???)
4. Join the ADC and download the SDK and try some simple apps.
5. Figure out how to "deploy" the apps onto an iPhone. (via USB cable ??)
If soneone could comeup with a blog that describes how to go about this, it would encourage many developers who develop for Blackberry etc to start developing for Mac.
Finally, if someone could come up with a roadmap that would enable us to use GNUStep or something similar to get our "feet wet" on Linux / Windows BEFORE
going on to actually purchasing a "Mac" computer, it would give us the confidence to invest in Apple hardware, knowing that we are on the right track.

Go to apple's iPhone developer site. http://developer.apple.com/iphone/
They have a Getting started area.
Any Intel Mac should work fine. Do you want something cheap, laptop, big screen, etc. Up to you.
Speeds not really an issue with standard compiling.
You don't have to join ADC to get started. Download the SDK and run the simulator. You can sign up for $99 program when you want to move it to the actual device.
Not sure GNUstep would help or how much it matches Cocoa, etc.
If you've already been programming in C++ or other languages moving to Obj-C is not that bad. iPhone is less dense than full Mac Cocoa.
Deployment is same cable the phone came with. All you need is XCode, your app and the certificates from apple.

Blackberry 8130 sync compatibility with Mac

I am running Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on my Mac OS 10.4.11 and am considering getting a Blackberry 8130 in order to sync contacts, calendar, etc between computer and phone, plus run e-mail. I am aware of previous difficulties using software programs to allow a seamless transfer. Which software programs are recommended to sync from Mac Palm Desktop to blackberry 8130? Is there another phone that is more suitable or should I download Mac Outlook or use Apple Addressbook and iCal? I am impressed with the 8130 but am leary of previous comments regarding incompatibility issues. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am having the same problem, my Q10 doesnt sync with my Mac Contact Address Book. The BBlink says its syncing but nothing happens. I updated all the software, running 10.2.1.537 on the device and BlackBerry Link is 1.2.0 (build 17)

Blackberry does not appear on Mac desktop etc.

I downloaded the Blackberry Desktop Manager program for my MacBook 4,1 - Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a) - and while the program is thoroughly a let down, I thought the capability to have the Blackberry appear in the Finder would be a useful workaround to send photos and media between the device and my laptop. Unfortunately this did not work either, as the Blackberry does not appear anywhere on my desktop when connected.
Yes, the Blackberry Desktop Manager appears when I connect my new Curve 8350, but for some reason RIM has not been able to create a Pictures folder within the program yet? Verizon has of course has forced the hand of RIM to disable the available user RAM, making slightly tech saavy users purchase a microSD card but to force the masses to purchase all their media from VZ tones. I suppose I can live with this but in the meanwhile it would be great if any of you Blackberry geniuses out there could help me get my Blackberry Curve 8350 to appear on my desktop...for now.

Can't Sync Blackberry with Entourage on a mac

HI.
I just upgraded Desktpo Software for Mac to version 2.0.1
and my BlackBerry Curve 8520 OS to 5.0.
And now I can't sync my entourage calendar with the blackberry.
it says "There are no writable Calendars available for syncing on this computer"
Please Launch microsoft entourage and create a new writable calendar."
But even if i create new calendar, it won't sync.
Hope someone can help me.
