Will 1TB MBPr SSD work in nMP?

I have a base nMP with 256gb PCIe SSD. The folks at my local Apple store told me the 1TB Flash drive in the new MacBook Pro Retina is a 4 lane PCIe 2.0 module. My question is does anyone know if this module will work in the nMP?

Thanks Mike.
This is the drive I'm looking at getting:
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT960M500SSD1
It's more the size that concerns me - in Mactracker's details about the mid 2009 model it says max hard drive is 500G, but I don't know if that's more referring to the drives that were available then..
Is anyone using a 1TB SSD drive in a mid 2009 Macbook?

  • Will the Intel SSD work with my particular computer

I am considering installing an Intel® - OEM X25-M Mainstream 80GB Internal Serial ATA II Solid State Hard Drive in my MacBook Pro 2.2 ghz Intel Duo Core computer (late 2007 model) and I am wondering if it will be compatible and if anyone has had any experience with installing an SSD in an earlier MacBook Pro. Current hard drive is a Hitachi 160GB 5400 rpm drive with less than 1/4 of capacity used. I tried Google and I have gotten conflicting info. I am wondering if there is any issues with the above mentioned drive with older MacBook pros.

I believe it should work fine.

  • Will just any SSD work on my X201i

    Hi
I was planning to get upcoming Intel G3 SSD for my Lenovo X201i. Just recently I heard that there could be a firmwire defining, what SSDs you can install to your Lenovo notebook. Is this true? Can I install just any standard 2,5" Sata SSD or are there only specific models that will work? I know Lenovo has 160G2 on their own lists, but wonder if the G3 will be also supported.
If the G3 delays, theres always a change to get some Sandforce driven SSD which are very low on power consumption and have high perfomance. Should this be a problem? For example Corsair Force Series is good value SSD here in Finland.
    Thanks in advance

  • Will a Thunderbolt SSD work on bootcamp?

    I was wondering if this
    http://www.lacie.com/uses/products/product.htm?id=10549
    would work on Bootcamp?

If you want to install Windows on it, you should know that Windows can't be installed onto external drives.
If you want to store things in it while you are using Windows, you can do it without any problem. After installing the Boot Camp drivers in Windows, you will be able to use Thunderbolt external disks and peripherals in Windows. Just make sure that the Thunderbolt external drive is formatted in exFAT, the format that I recommend, in order to get the best performance. You have to format the external drive in Windows, not in OS X, or Windows won't be able to detect it

  • Will a 510 intel SSD work with MacBook Pro?

    11. How is the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter different from the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter?
The Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter works best with displays that operate at dual-link resolutions, which are resolutions above 1920 x 1200. For displays that do not support dual-link DVI resolutions (displays that operate at resolutions of 1920 x 1200 or lower) you should use the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter instead.
    12. Which monitors work with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter?
Use the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to connect your computer to a 30-inch display that includes a dual-link DVI connector, such as the Apple Cinema HD Display. Note: For such displays, be sure to connect the USB connection on the adapter to the USB port on your Mac; also connect the USB connection from the display to the USB port on the adapter.

  • MSI Wind Top AG2712 i7-3630QM 1TB 128GB SSD 12GB W8

    Hello everybody!
I'm from Poland and my English isn't very well.
I have a question:  I have MSI Wind Top AG2712 i7-3630QM 1TB 128GB SSD 12GB W8   and I have gaphic card GTX 670MX. Would i have a NVIDIA  GTX 970M on thic AiO PC?  Please write back!
    Good be!

    Hi,
With AiO I guess it's similar to notebooks: it might work, but there are few factors that might have to be changed. For example you would most likely have to modify heatsink for the GPU. Also custom BIOS might also be needed.
As long as these can have their GPUs removed/swapped around. So even if you buy 970M, make sure you will be able to return it in case it don't work.
I would ask MSI as they have all the details about each AiO version and graphics cards, so they should be able to answer this straight away, simple as "Yes or No", as currently on the forum we can only guess whether it will work or not.

  • Samsung 256 SSD work in t400???

I am reading alot about the Samsung 256GB flash SSD.  I work with audio so I could really use the performance
bump-up.  Has anyone tried installing one in a t400?  Will it fit &/or work??
I have seen older posts, but this is a new drive and I would like to be sure.  Its a big price tag for me!
    Thanks for any assistance.

I would suggest instead of doing a clone of the disk, instead, install a fresh copy of OSX to the SSD and then restore a Archive and Restore to it off the old drive.
The SSD has different drive characteristics (geometry, etc.) that the OS coming from the old drive might not really understand or be configured to optimal on the new drive.

  • Wil the OCZ vortex 3 SSD work in the apple Mac Book Pro?

I really want to get the fastest SSD (money is not the issue) out there in my Macbook Pro 2011 I was just wondering if the Vortex 3 will be able to work at his maximum perfomance in the mac book pro 2011, and is 6Gb/s SATA 3 supported.

it should work as long as all of the 8,X versions of the MBP have the Intel 6 series chipset I have a 13" (MacBookPro 8,1) and it can support SATA 6.0Gb/s Drives. A downside to putting in a non Apple SSD is you will not get TRIM Support on it, however a Toshiba SSD may be able to use the TRIM Support as I have seen a number of Apple SSD's listed as TS128GB which are Toshiba drives.
I know people are complaining about the freeze after wake on the Vertex 2 however I have a 2011 13" i5 (MBP 8,1) and installed a OCZ Agility 2. On the FirmWare that came on the drive 1.27 I was having this issue. I updated the FirmWare to 1.29 yesterday and have not seen it yet.
Now the problem is updating the FW with OCZ. They put the Mac logo on the back of the box however you will not have support on updating the FW from them. Users on the forum have come up with ways to update it, with that said most are using Linux being booted from a CD. I was unable to update mine this way. First these are such new machines that none of the linux os's listed will wake when you suspend to RAM as instructed. I also could not get an internet connection on any of them (wired or wireless) which you need to have. I updated mine using a win7 notebook since it is easy to access the HD and used LinuxLiveOS. I did not have to reformat nor did I have to bootcamp my SSD, it also did not erase anything from it but back up your data, thats what the old HDD is good for now, using it as a TimeMachine Disk. I just plugged my SSD into the SATA connector on my win7 machine and booted from CD/DVD on the window's machine....see they can be useful.
With this being said there is no guarantee your OCZ SSD will work properly all of the time or 1.29 will fix the hibernate problem they are having. I am only informing you and others of the support or lack of support OCZ has for their products even though they label something Mac Compatible, which isn't a complete lie, THEY do not support updates for US Mac Users.

  • Will this hard drive work in my 2009 MBP 13 inch?

Hello, I've decided to upgrade the hard drive in my Mid 2009 MBP 13 inch to roughly a 500gb from 250gb. My friend has a 2011 MBP 13" and he just upgraded it to 1TB and has his 500gb 5400rpm SATA 2 and said I can have it. Will that hard drive work in my 2009 MBP without any headaches? I just want to be sure before I put it in...Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

I think 750GB is the Max you can install in your 09 MB.  ( not a 100% sure )
I've seen some people trying to install 1TB on their 09 MB and had issues.
Give it a shot, if it doesn't work, you can always exchange it for the smaller 750GB.
    Good luck..

  • Will Photoshop 7.0 work under Windows 7?

Will Photoshop 7.0 work under Windows 7?

To get Photoshop 7.0 (or 7.0.1 in my case) to work under Windows 7 64-bit, I ran the CD's Autorun under Windows XP service pack 2 compatibility. I also set the same compatibility prefs in Win 7 for the setup.exe file in the Photoshop directory of the CD-ROM.
You'll possibly encounter an error about the scratch disk being full - this is because PS 7 fails to understand big hard drives (the huge free space number looks like an empty disk, it's kinda like a Y2K problem, since PS7 programmers or the API writers never imagined so much free space, I guess). In this case, two things are important:
You need a partition that's less than 1TB (not sure about the size, it's in another thread) for the scratch disk. I used my system's recovery partition (only 2GB free, however). Other advice I found was to create a scratch partition using Windows 7 partitioning. Maybe a USB key would work? Surely not very fast...
PS 7 will fail on startup with the "scratch disk full" error and exit. To get PS 7 to allow you to specify it, hold down CTRL and ALT when the program is launching. You'll be given a chance to indicate the partitions.

  • Will a dv7-2160ed work with a Seagate Momentus XT?

Need to replace my borken HDD.
Will a dv7-2160ed work with a Seagate Momentus XT (SATA 500 mb, 32 mb cache, solid state hybrid)?
    Thanks in advance!

Yeah no problem. It is my recommendation for people who can't quite see the expense of a full SSD drive. The hybrid is still noticeably faster than a pure mechanical drive and it does not have compatibility issues as we sometimes see with the SSDs.

    JCGood1984, welcome to the forum.
The computer should take a standard ATX power supply unit (PSU).  I suggest measuring the existing PSU and compare the measurements to the one in the links.  If the measurements are the same, it should fit.  I don't know anything about the brand, however.

I had a 640GB HDD in my Early 2008 Macbook and it was just too much it would always freeze up the computer a bit for only a few seconds but ya. Then I realized that it was the size of the HDD that was causing it since the Early 2008 Macbook models can only handle a MAX od 500GB while the Early 2008 Macbook Pros could have a MAX of 640GB (Lucked out there!) lol But ya the Early 2008 Mocbooks can only handle a MAX HDD size of 500GB and that's it!! lol

apple tv to get Netflix so I can cancel my xfinity premium channels.  Will this set up work.  p.s as you can tell I am a Mac novice.

Providing you have a free HDMI port on the TV and the location you would put the Apple TV will allow it to connect to your network, you should be good to go.

  • Will Report Builder 2012 Work with SQL Server 2008???

    Simple question really
Will Report Builder 2012 work in conjunction with SQL Server 2008???
    Is it worth while upgrading?
The main reason i ask is the ability to export in an xlsx format
    Thanks

    Hi Gmach,
The version of Report Builder on SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) 2012 is Report Builder 3.0. The Report Builder 3.0 manufactures 2010 RDL reports, so it only works with the version of SQL Server 2008 R2 or later. So in your scenario, we can no connect
to SQL Server 2008 Server using Report Builder that on SSRS 2012.
