Will 521 work on ATT with wifi calling?

I currently have the 520 using Consumer Cellular which limits voice minutes.  It appears to me that a key difference between the 520 (ATT) and 521 (T-Mobile) is that the 521 has wifi calling.  So my question is:  Is there a way to use a 521's wifi calling on a non T-Mobile provider?
Thank you,
Pete

the 520 has:
WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz.
.WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps .
.WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps .
.GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz.
.GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
.GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps .
the 521 has:
WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 - 2100 MHz.
.WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps .
.WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps .

in order for you to be able to use it on the ATT network, you would have to unlock the device.
that could cost you almost as much as the device is, unless you can get the unlock from Tmobile.
then, while the device will get general 2/2.5G service for phone and text, your data, being that it is missing the 1900mhz, will not get sufficient data.
the real difference between them is the wifi calling and the 1700/1900, which is what really separates the two device and why they are made specifically for each carrier.
being the cost of the devices, I would just buy another one for the ATT. wifi calling is not going to work anyhow, as that is a tmobile product that connects to your account on wifi, which att doesn't have.

US iPads are not locked to a carrier. Don't buy a Verizon or Sprint model, though.

  • TS1630 My iphone4 speakers will only work when I receive a call or factime, but for nothing else. Why?

My Speakers on my iphone4 will only work when I receive a call or facetime, and are muffled when an alarm goes off. Other than that, I have absolutely no sound from anything- text, music, videos, games, etc. UNLESS I use headphone. My phone will vibrate with text messages, though. When I try to turn up the volume on the side, it doesn't register any bars- the space for the volume boxes is blank. Also, there is no volume bar in my music when I try to turn up the volume. I have tried restarting my phone numerous times, I have also checked and rechecked the switch on the side to no avail. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas or know what might cause this?

I tried this and noticed a little green inside the charging port. I panicked thinking it was corrupt, but found out if you lighting moisten the toothbrush with alcohol and gently scrub (with the power off) you can remove the green. I started inspecting one of our charging adapters, which had been giving us trouble, and it was very green inside. Not sure if it can transfer from one to the other?
BUT now I have sound! Thanks for your suggestion, it helped!

You can create your control code in LabVIEW and then use a Call Library Function Node to communicate with your roboteq DLL.  The first thing to do though, is check to see if Roboteq offers LabVIEW drivers.
    Using LabVIEW: 7.1.1, 8.5.1 & 2013

  • IMessage, will it work on an ipad2 wifi(not the 3g)??

tried using imessage last night, somethings not adding up. was able to send the message but it took like 10mins. to be recieved by the iphone4 and it says that message failed in red colour.

will it work on an ipad2 wifi(not the 3g)??
No, because iOS 5 does not support an iPhone 3G.
iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion

I am from india and am studying in USA but i am done with my course and going back to india and i have ordered for an unlocked  T-Mobile phone.....So will it work in india with the local carriers or will i have to go to T-mobile or apple store to get it unlocked?

If purchased from Apple, it will be officially unlocked & will work in India. Be aware, your warranty/support will only be valid in the US, & the phone will only support LTE in North America.

i have Wifi/3g CDMA Ipad. Want to know will it work in Pakistan except WIFI? if yes, then how?

I do not believe that the iPad2 is locked to any carrier in any country.  Certainly in the USA the CDMA model is not locked to Verizon.  If there are CDMA providers in Pakistan that offer iPad data packages (and a quick google search indicates there are), then you should be able to sign up for service from one of them.
Wifi is wifi anywhere, so if you have wifi in Pakistan it should work as it does anywhere else.
P.S. Verizon has international roaming in Pakistan, but their rates look expensive, so if a local CDMA provider does prepaid or monthly data plans, that would certainly be cheaper I would think.
Oops, that may be voice-only roaming for Verizon too, not data.

  • HT5176 I have a disability that limits my keyboarding abilities and speed.  A blue tooth add-on keyboard will provide some help.  However, I expect to rely on the dictation function.  Will "dictation" work in conjunction with a wireless keyboard?

I have a disability that limits my keyboarding abilities and speed.  A blue tooth add-on keyboard will provide some help.  However, I expect to rely on the dictation function on the ipad 3.  Inasmuch as the blue tooth keyboards have no "dictation key, will "dictation" work in conjunction with a wireless keyboard?

I also have admiration for Steve Jobs.  I've been a Mac user since 1984.
Given that a wireless keyboard will not have the dictation key, there ought to be some way to work around this issue. All that is needed is some way to toggle between keyboard input and microphone input. Perhaps using AppleScript and/or a hot key, I can set up a voice command or define a hotkey to toggle between the 2 inputs.
    What do you think?

  • Will Not Sync Unless Done With Wifi

So i've been doing the "Sync with wifi" thing for my ipod touch. But i've noticed that now when i go and plug my ipod into the computer with the cord, it will not read the ipod anymore and will not allow me to sync it unless its done by wifi. It use to work just fine both ways, but as of late no matter how many times i re open itunes, turn my ipod on or off, and plug/unplug my ipod it will not sync with the cord anymore. It keeps saying "Error (really long number with lots of zero's) An error occured, cannot connect to sync this iphone"

Use Google to search for that 'really long number with lots of zeroes".  More than likely you are having a driver issue and that number will lead you to a Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article that will help you fix it.

  • Cisco with WIFI calling

    Hi,
I have read about wifi calling and that it is deployed in US by T-Mobile. And Cisco helped in this through Cisco wireless technology that guarantee QOS
Only I need to know what role Cisco do in this ? and if Cisco is main and a must in this solution. or only Cisco provide wireless access points and mobile operators can deploy the solution without Cisco
I need to know why Cisco should be preferred in this solution ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The link is
    http://blogs.cisco.com/wireless/cisco-and-t-mobile-team-to-deliver-a-wi-fi-calling-solution-with-an-enterprise-class-voice-ready-wireless-lan
    The article was from 2010
I think T-Mobile provide this solution from about 4-years
So If I find a good role for Cisco in this solution. I could introduce it to our mobile operators here in my country. But from what I read, I think Cisco could only share in the part of wireless APs and the operator can use his own hotspots
    Thanks

  • Three new smartphones to launch with WiFi Calling

We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be the first network to launch built-in Wifi calling in the UK when the Samsung Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge and the Lumia 640 become available on EE.

If you actually read what I've just wrote, you'll see you've just said exactly what I've just wrote.
    I wrote:
"Orange built a Signal Boost app into compatible Orange branded handsets(excluding BlackBerry phones). You would need to open the app to manually enable or disable Signal Boost, you would then be able to use your phone as normal. You would also need to enable or disable WiFi separately from the Signal Boost app."
You've also stated yourself(which I've already said) "it was preinstalled on the phone and only available on branded handsets that had the feature in the firmware. So it was an app like  had previously stated. Nothing was said about it being an app available to everyone, all the OP said was Orange had this service already working and Brendonx stated Orange had a app; which you've acknowledged was built into Orange branded firmware.
Here's a picture of the app you claim Orange didn't use installed on a compatible Orange branded handset.
Like I've already explained UMA and WiFi calling are exactly the same thing but branded two different names.
"Generic Access Network or GAN is a telecommunication system that extends mobile voice, data and multimedia (IMS/SIP) applications over IP networks. Unlicensed Mobile Access or UMA, is the commercial name used by mobile carriers for external IP access into their core networks. More recently, the system has been called Wi-Fi Calling by a number of handset manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung, a move that is being mirrored by carriers like T-Mobile US."

  • Why didn't apple make iphone with wifi calling?

It is beyond me that Blackberry and the Android phones have wifi calling and the new iphone 5 does not.  Why?  That should be standard in all phones.

Just left a message there.  Thanks.  I live and travel and work in poor coverage areas and have a mifi to cover me doing charge sales.  Sad that Apple won't let me talk in these areas too.
