Will 8i allow plsql tables

Will Oracle 8i allow the creation of nested plsql tables ?
The tables are a collection type, below is an example:
Type rec_type IS RECORD (NAME varchar2)
rec rec_type;
TYPE rec_table_type IS TABLE OF rec INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
rec_table rec_table_type;
"rec_table" is the nested plsql table I am trying to describe.
Is this type of table allowed in Oracle 8i?

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/index.htm will get you to the documentaiton for 8.1.7
The answer is in Chapter 4 "Collections and Records" of the PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference

    Hi.I have a form with five text items.
    Also inside the form I have a button and when I push the button the trigger fires(WHEN BUTTON PRESSED) and the values of the form passed and display in the report.Is it possible to have in the form a detail for example with three rows and three columns and with some way(mayby as plsql table) pass all the parameters from the form to report and then display in the report?I asume the report is a tabular report.
    Thanks in advance Panagiotis.

    Hi Nigel,
    By default, SharePoint will display folder icon for document sets in the search results.
    If you need to change this icon in search results, then you can modify the display template for document sets.

    How did you set query in the Result Source?
    I tested the query below in the result source in my environment, and it worked fine.
    {searchTerms}ContentTypeID:0x0120D520*
    I recommend to check if the document sets have been crawled in crawl log.
    If not, please run a full crawl in Search Service Application and then check the results.

  • Internal PLSQL Tables Access via SQL. But how ?

    Hello,
    I want to write the result of a database query in an internal PLSQL Table. After that i would like work with this internal PLSQL Table
    in a Package/Procedure/Function.
    Important for me is to access the internal Table via SQL because i have to refactor a package wich is working with 46 Database Tables an plain SQL. I
    would like to change these DB Tables into internal PLSQL Tables.
    I have written a short example wich will explain my approach to solving this problem.
    The syntax will be accepted by the Database but my 'dbms_output.put_line' statement at the end is empty or blank.
    What do i wrong ? Would be nice if anyone can help me out.
    With best regards

    As Mike says, keep this person away from your database.
    Customers should not be dictating how to implement technical solutions, they should be providing business and logical requirements.
    PL/SQL arrays/collections use expensive PGA memory, taking up valuable server resources.
    Copying data from the database to PGA memory to try and process it using PL/SQL is bad design.  SQL is designed specifically for data manipulation using database tables, so it's the ideal way to do process data... directly on database tables.

  • SQL from PLSQL Table

    Hi,
    I have a PLSQL Table with two columns.
    Is there a way where i can read the PLSQL Table data into SQL.
    Below is the sample code.
    Is there a way to get distinct records of contact_person and party_id
    IF x_msg_tbl.COUNT > 0
    THEN
    FOR i IN x_msg_tbl.FIRST .. x_msg_tbl.LAST
    LOOP
    IF x_msg_tbl.EXISTS (i)
    THEN
    LOG(x_msg_tbl(i).contact_person);
    LOG(x_msg_tbl(i).party_id);
    LOG(i);
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END IF;
    Thanks,

    Pet peeve of mine - calling an array or collection a PL/SQL "table". There is no such thing as a PL/SQL table. The term "table", especially in the RDBMS context we're using PL/SQL, has a very specific meaning.
    And an array or collection in PL/SQL is nothing at all like a table.
    But because of this term, developers are under the very misguided impression that arrays/collections in PL/SQL can be treated as tables. To the point where they want to use SQL against them.. because they are mistakenly and very incorrectly called "tables".
    SQL against a PL/SQL structure is expensive. Why? Because the SQL engine cannot run against data structures in the PL/SQL engine. That data structure needs to be 'shipped' from PL/SQL to SQL, cast into a SQL structure, in order for the SQL engine to run SQLs against it.
    Which begs the question then - why is that data not in the SQL engine in the first place? Something like a temp session table will be a lot more flexible, scalable and a lot faster.
    The best place for data is in Oracle tables. Not in PL/SQL collections are arrays.
    Why then PL/SQL collections and arrays? For the same reason these primitive data structures exist in most other 3GL languages. Dealing with local programming data in a structure way. And in PL/SQL specifically, to create a larger buffer for shipping data between PL/SQL and SQL (bulk processing) in order to reduce context switching. It is not intended as an alternative to a database table.
    And as soon as you want to use SQL against it, you are saying you want it to be like a database table. In which case why are you not using a database table?

    The other argument is that Oracle has to be able to automatically create any partition required and it can only create 1024k - 1. So if you create yours with sysdate how could it create all of the others?Not sure I follow. What is the purpose of counting potential partitions? Partition part# iin sys.tabpart$ is not assigned based on potential partition position. If I issue a DDL to create new partition regardless of interval/non-interval partitioning Oracle has to check how many partitions table has so far or po and raise same/similar exception if partition I am asking to create is over the limit. And, in any case, knowing we can create all potential partitions at table create time doesn't mean I will not try to insert data outside the range. So there is absolutely no guarantee Oracle can automatically create any partition requested. Again, I don't understand why creating non-interval partitioned table with a single initial partition has partition count of 1:

  • Record Groups Vs Plsql table

    Hi,
    In forms, I am storing some values in a plsql table(like an array). Everytime a value is chosen in the filter, I do a sequential search of the table to retrieve my values. As this is a single table the search is taking a long time.I would like to replace this with multiple run time record groups. My question is whether the storing and retrieval from record groups are in any way faster or slower than retrieval from a table? I dont know the exact row number. So I have to do a sequential read of the record group also. So it will be something like :
    for i in 1..10 loop
    v := get_group_char_Cell('col name',i);
    end loop;
    Is this faster than
    for i in 1..10 loop
    v := tab(i).col;
    end loop;
    Ps: The record group could be smaller than the table as it will be multiple. Table will be always be one.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi ,
    I have a filter which has certain values. When the value is chosen, I need to look thru either the table or record group sequentially to get the matched record and apply it. We want to make this process as fast as possible. Hence the question of using plsql table vs record groups vs GLOBAL table. I was given to understand that if the global table is indexed it could be as fast or faster than the plsql table. The advantage in using GLOBAL table might be that I can directly select the value instead of retrieving the entire PLSQL table and compare the values.
    EG -
    for i in 1..tab.count loop
    tab(i).col = val;
    end loop
    select col into v from GLOBAL_TAB where col1 = val;
    So which you think would be faster? Also consider the record groups.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

    I cannot open iCal because of a problem. Can anybody help me? The computer will not allow it to open and sends a message to apple each time. The icon has gone from the dock, but ical works on my iPad and I am afraid to sync it with my computer in case it wipes everything .

    I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
    MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2).

  • HT200189 Updated 10.9.1 but will not allow me to install VPN Update

    Updated OS X to to v. 10.9.1 and restarted computer twice, but will not allow me to select a destination for VPN Update for OS X Server software; error says "VPN Update for OS Server can't be installed on this disk (MacIntosh HD). This volume does not meet requirements for this update.
    I also updated OS X Server from the App Store to latest 3.0.1. and still does not allow me to install the VPN update.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
    from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • UPS and our iMac // Will not allow iMac to sleep.

    Hello,
    We have a Cyberpower UPS (CP685AVR) for our 20" iMac 2.66Ghz (last gen)and it works great. It has a USB interface to communicate with the iMac's power manager, and tells me how much juice is left, how the cells are doing, etc.
    The only problem is the UPS will not allow the iMac to sleep; if I try to manually put it to sleep, it will wake again in 10-15sec. If I disconnect the UPS, the iMac works just fine. There are no third-party drivers, either. Cyberpower relies on Apple's built-in UPS support. I've been leaving the USB cable unplugged but would like like to use it if possible.
    Has anyone had an issue like this, and what has been your experience? Thanks.

    I won't buy Cyberpower anymore since I had one burn up on me so I have not had any experience with their newer models. I have 2 APC's and they work fine with the built in Energy Saver settings.
    Are you connecting the USB directly to the back? I'm not sure if it will help but you might try resetting the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543?viewlocale=en_US

  • I saved my Form Central spreadsheet file once as a excel file but it will not allow me to save it a second time as an excel file.  It says that I cannot complete this action because the file me be open in another application, but it is not open in another

    I saved my Form Central spreadsheet file once as a excel file but Forms Central will not allow me to save the file a second time as an excel file.  I am informed that I cannot complete this action because the file me be open in another application, but it is not open in another application. What is the problem, and how do I solve the problem.  Thank you. Jeff

    First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
    You can find it here:
    [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
    If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
    In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1
