Will 9.2.2 Successfully Install On;

9.2.2 vanished on 6gb internal hard drive for power mac blue and white.
I should not have turned on Full Java Script when using Clasilla. They said it is in development and not recommended. http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/ somewhere on that site it will say that.
I am about to turn blue and white into a door stop.
I know that 9.2.2 will not install on any g4s or g5s. I will use them to watch videos.
I also like 9.2.2 because it always mounts external storage...so far. Perhaps the mounting issue is computer related and not os related.
MY QUESTIONS:
junky blue and white will not take retail os 9 dvd. (Yes, it has DVD drive) will it take cd?
What about g3 bronze keyboard?????
i think none of my 3 imacs have dvd player. ......
Will they take cd version,
if hard drive is blank?
if hard drive has 10.3.5 on it? ----how can I sneak 9.2.2 onto a hard drive with OS X already on it????
Presently:
junky blue and white: nothing.
imac g3 500mhz: 10.3.5
imac g3 400mhz: 10.3.5
another imac g3 400mhz: nothing.... (password protected OS X to be erased
ANOTHER Question: what is "Reset Password" feature on install disks????? )
My goals for these computers:
junky blue and white: new hard drive with 9.2.2 only.
imac g3 500mhz: 10.4.11 AND 9.2.2
imac g3 400mhz: 10.3.5 AND 9.2.2
imac g3 400mhz: 9.2.2 only ......unless os x password can be reset. then both OS 9 & X ....
2 bronze keyboards: certainly 9.2.2, possibly OS 10.x
all my existing internal hard drives...getting a "Toaster", recovering files, formatting as FAT, and then copying the files on them. also I am getting more hard drives.

Hi, In-Correct -
In addition to their original disks...
A B&W G3 should accept any version retail OS 9 Install CD.
A PowerBook G3 (Bronze keyboard) should also be able to accept any version retail OS 9 Install CD.
A 500MHz iMac G3 can be one of three different models. The first one, iMac (Summer 2000), can use either a retail OS 9.1 Install CD or a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD. The next two, iMac (Early 2001) and iMac (Summer 2001), can use only a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD.
A 400MHz iMac G3 can be one of three different models. The first one, iMac/iMac DV (Slot Loading), can use any version retail OS 9 Install CD. The next one, iMac (Summer 2000), can use either a retail OS 9.1 Install CD or a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD. The last one, iMac (Early 2001), can use only a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD.
Your best choice for an OS 9 Install CD to support any of the above machines is a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD.
As has been noted, all stand-alone OS 9 Install disks are CDs, not DVDs.
Once the machine has been booted to the CD, whether the hard drive is avilable on the desktop or is 'seen' by the installer depends upon whether the drive has had OS 9 drivers installed. If it is visible to the installer, you can install OS 9 on it. If it is not visible to the installer, you can not do so until OS 9 drivers have been installed. Unfortunately, installing OS 9 drivers usually means reformatting (which means erasing) the hard drive.
Article #TA20774 - Disk Is Available in Mac OS X But Not in Mac OS 9
The fact that OSX is present on the hard drive does not prevent the installation of OS 9 (provided the drive has OS 9 drivers). The OS 9 installer may balk at the presence of one of the folders OSX uses - an OS 9 installer can be confused by that, thinking that it is an unknown version of OS 9 and refusing to install on top of it. The solution for that issue is to do a Clean Install of OS 9 - doing so will not affect the install of OSX.
Article #TA43881 - Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9: Performing a Clean Installation
...what is "Reset Password" feature on install disks?
That pertains to OSX, not to OS 9.

When I go back to look at something (movie, song, etc.), Firefox again tells me that I need to update the latest flashplayer in which I have already done. What could be wrong?I do not know if this is on my end or between both firefox and flashplayer. I have done everything possible that I know how and I have followed the directions carefully. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

There are two different versions of Flash for Windows, the '''''ActiveX''''' version for IE and the '''Plugin''' version used by Firefox and most other browsers.
1.Download the Flash Plugin version setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install.  Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2.  Any Thoughts?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

  • Please could somebody help? Aperture will not open - has a coloured spinning disc prior to opening the program correctly. I have the latest Snow Leopard  update on a Mini Mac. I have "successfully installed" the latest Aperture 3.1.2 update.

I am running the latest OS version and uploaded the latest version of Aperture 3.1.2 all successfully installed. I have all my photos (say 12000 files) stored on a RAID WD (MyBook) external hard-drive and I assume that that has the latest software update Wd 2.25. I have previously had problems with Aperture's external referencing - which drops out frustratingly, I was in the middle of a major import of photos when the spinning rainbow ball appeared. I am now unable to open Aperture.
I have tried rebooting to no change.
    Help please?

    Colin-
Thanks for the detailed info. One additional question, how full is each hard drive? The internal and external drives' % full.
Step one is to change the import workflow. Even though lots of manuals inappropriately lead folks in that direction, one should never import directly into Aperture or any other images management app. Instead, in this exact order:
    • Restart the Mini (to clear possible memory leaks of the limiting 2-GB of RAM).
    • Create a folder ("abc") for the incoming images. Since you are on a Mini you will want to be referencing Masters with the Library on the Mini's hard drive and the Masters on your external RAID array. The abc folder should be created on the RAID.
    • Connect a card reader with the camera card in it. The camera card should show on the desktop. If it does not show, restart the Mini with the reader and card still plugged in. You can of course use the camera directly in this step, but I do not recommend it. Obviously cameras like the iPad do require direct camera-to-computer uploading.
    • Drag the contents of the card's image folder(s) to the abc folder that you previously created on the hard drive.
    • Review the abc folder contents to be sure they all copied properly.
    • Software-eject the camera card.
    • Physically disconnect the camera card reader from the Mini. This step is important to help avoid all-too-common human error.
    • Again review the abc folder contents to be sure they are indeed all there (because stuff happens sometimes...).
    • Back up the abc folder contents on to another drive.
    • Review the files on the backup to be sure they all copied properly.
    • At any time after but not before the previous step you can reformat the camera card in-camera. Do not delete images on the card using the computer.
    • Start Aperture and only have Aperture running (due to your limited 2 GB RAM).
    • Import the images from folder abc into Aperture, selecting "Store Files: In their current location" on the right-hand side of the import window.
Some generic advice I posted in another thread:
Aperture is a heavy pro graphics app that is very demanding of hardware. Your Mac's CPU, GPU, i/o and RAM are all limiting to Aperture so we need to do what we can to optimize. Some steps:
    • Set Previews to only be built manually, and only tell Aperture to build Previews when you are not otherwise editing in Aperture. I suggest setting the size of Previews to be the pixel dimensions of your display.
    • Keep the internal drive underfilled for speed, which sooner or later usually requires using a Referenced-Masters-Library with Masters on external drives. Back up originals before importing into Aperture or any other images app.
    • The Aperture Library should be on an internal drive.
    • Turn off Share Previews with iLife and iWork.
    • Remember that HDs slow as they fill and keep the internal drive underfilled. Approx. 70% full _maximum_ is a good guideline.
    • If page outs increase significantly during operation, max out RAM and/or try to run Aperture by itself. On my C2D MBP with its max of 3 GB RAM I always did a restart prior to a heavy Aperture session to clear any memory leaks and make sure no other apps were open. Browsers in particular will often suck RAM Aperture would otherwise be using.
IMO all Aperture users who can should routinely bump RAM to at least 8 GB.
    • Some users have observed that it can take a new Aperture installation time (weeks) to stabilize on slow computers. So do not panic; and allow Aperture to continue background work by not fully shutting down the computer.

  • IPod Nano 8G - Win7 - Device driver software wat not successfully installed

    Hi,
Just got my first Apple iPod Nano 8G (4th) and has installed iTune 9.0.2 (64bit) on my Win 7 Ultimate x64. But I am not able to connect iPod nor Sync with iTune successfully even after reinstall/reboot many times with the same problem.
After the installation of iTune accomplished, I plug USB adapter into PC, then Win7 detected and started to install the driver for the hardware, but got "Device driver software wat not successfully installed" as a result.
Then I went to Device Manager tring to install the driver manually for "Apple iPod USB Driver", but finally I failed again and got "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device....", I think this is the software problem, please kindly advise, thanks a lot!

First, my officejet 4500 all-in-one installed and is working perfectly with wireless; however, I have for months still/have been getting the error/uninstall window continuously, telling me install was not successful, but again, printer, scanner, etc., working fine!  But this "the installation was not successful" window is ALWAYS up or if I ctrl-alt-del and get it to end now, it comes back up; I have even let it do its thing, finish, restart, but it ALWAYS comes back up, trying to find a solution, etc.  BUT MY PRINTER IS WORKING FINE!  Please help me get rid of this; also, the file that it puts on desktop to troubleshoot, etc then delete afterward, I have deleted it, but this "unsuccessful" keeps trying to uninstall, reinstall; and as I said, actually went through all the steps to get it gone (printer working fine) but it will not go away!  Thanks. ajm

  • Successful install of Seagate 1TB SSHD

I finally have successfully installed a new Seagate 1TB SSHD drive, and thought I'd describe the process and some problems I had and how I got around them.  I can't claim this is the best or proper way to do the job, as I was floundering around a lot, but eventually it worked and I wanted to describe what worked and didn't, which might help others.  I'll put the crucial parts that actually worked in bold.
    The new drive was:
         Seagate 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6Gbps 64MB Cache 2.5-Inch ST1000LM014
My computer is a mid-2010 MacBook (white) with OSX Mavericks 10.9.1.
I have a large external USB drive I use for backups with Time Machine.  I first did a regular Time Machine backup of my data.  Then, I tried to install the new drive using this strategy:  make a disk image on the backup drive using system-restore Disk Utility; remove the old drive and install the new one; restore the disk image to the new drive using system-restore Disk Utility.  This DID NOT WORK.  I'm still not sure why not, it seems like it should have.  The problem may have been that I chose the wrong icon within Disk Utility to drag to the source drive text box: I chose the disk drive icon (not indented), whereas I now think I should have chosen the Mac OSX disk volume partition icon (indented icon).  More on this below.
To SUCCESSFULLY install the drive, I bought a USB-internal HD cable (I bought the Apricorn cable) and used it to directly connect the new drive to the USB port so I could copy the data directly from the old drive to the new, using system-restore Disk Utility.  Here are some notes on the process:
The actual mechanical process of installing the drive is simple, if you have a tiny phillips screwdriver (or a tiny flat-blade of the correct size, which is what I used). You just unscrew the 8 screws on the bottom cover, pop it off (being careful not to knock the rubber coating off the metal edge, as it is hard to get back in place), carefully undo the power connector (find a photo online showing it) with a LARGER screwdriver or blade so you don't break the corner off of it like I did, then unscrew the 2 screws holding the metal bar (find a photo) that holds down the drive.  Pull the drive up and pull the connector off of it carefully with your fingers.  There are two nubbins on the old drive that are screwed into it and stick out so that the metal bar can clamp down on them.  I needed pliers to loosen these before removing them with the small screwdriver and putting them into the new drive.  Then reverse the process to get the new drive in place. But this whole process is done LAST, after you have copied your data to the new drive (unless you want to try using the disk-image approach with an external USB drive, that I couldn't get to work but which might work in the right hands).
You cannot create a disk image or copy (clone) the disk that is the running OS using Disk Utility.  It gives you an error message that it cannot do this, probably because the active disk is constantly changing and you don't want to try to copy a changing thing.  To get around this, you need to boot into system recovery mode and use its Disk Utility, which is done by rebooting and holding down Command-R until the apple icon shows up.  Mine booted this way from an internal small drive separate from the hard drive, but when that is corrupted or missing or when there is some sort of incompatibility between it and the installed hard drive (as happened the first time around when trying to use the backup disk to restore an image), my system instead boots recovery mode from the wi-fi network (I needed to enter the wi-fi password).
There is a severe problem with Disk Utility in system recovery mode.  The system goes to sleep, and when it does, the disk copy process stops.  Since it takes hours to do the disk copy, you aren't going to sit around pressing a key to keep the system awake.  You get around this problem as follows:
    - In system recovery mode, don't start Disk Utility, but instead, use the menu item that starts Terminal.
    - At the Terminal window prompt, enter the commands "pmset sleep 0", "pmset disksleep 0", and "pmset displaysleep 0" to disable sleep.
    - If you exit Terminal window in order to start Disk Utility, apparently the sleep settings disappear and the system still goes to sleep (at least, the alternative sleep command "pmset noidle &" does, but maybe the above commands remain in effect). To get around this, you can start Disk Utility directly from the Terminal window, as follows: use the cd and ls commands to find your way to the recovery disk folder where Disk Utility is located: start with "cd /", then "ls" to see what is there, then "cd Volumes", then "ls", then "cd OSX Startup Disk" (not the right name, and I can't find it right now, but look at the names and figure out which is the recovery disk, start over if you get it wrong), then "ls", then "cd Applications", "ls", "cd Utilities", "ls", "cd Disk\ Utility.app", "ls", "cd Contents", "ls", "cd MacOS", "ls", and finally, there is "Disk Utility" and you run it with "Disk\ Utility" or "./Disk\ Utility".  Note that you can press the tab key after entering the first character or two of a name, and it will auto-complete the rest of the name, a great speedup when doing "cd" commands.
With the new drive connected to the USB with the special cable, and booted into system recovery and in Disk Utility, you first want to erase/format the new drive.  You should see the drives listed on the left side of disk utility, including the original drive that you want to copy, the new drive, and the system recovery drive.  If you have an external USB backup drive connected, you should see that.  It is important to make distinction between two types of drives/icons shown in the list.  You will see that some icons are indented relative to others.  The ones that are not indented are actual physical drives.  The ones that are indented are partitions or virtual disks or volumes on the drive under which they are indented.  Since the term "disk" might easily refer to either one, let's use "drive" to refer to the unindented icon and "volume" to refer to the indented icon.  Probably you will have only one indented volume icon under each unidented drive icon, but you will have more than one if a drive has more than one partition, or if you have the problem I experienced (more below).
Drives are formatted by choosing the "Erase" section of Disk Utility, then selecting the unindented drive icon (not volume icon), choosing Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and changing the name from untitled to something else (I don't think it matters if the name is different than the name of your original drive).  Then click "Erase".
I had a problem that possibly stemmed from creating a drive image instead of a volume image on my backup drive, then attempting to restore the drive image to a volume on the new drive instead of to the new drive itself.  At any rate, what happened was that my new drive showed TWO volumes, both with the same name of "Mac OS HD", and whenever I erased the new drive, one of the volumes would disappear but not the other, and then when I tried again to restore the disk image, the second volume would reappear.  I finally got rid of this situation by doing an erase operation but using the Security Options button and selecting "Zero Out Data".  I let this run for about 5 minutes instead of the 7 hours it wanted to run.  Then I cancelled it, and lo and behold, BOTH volumes were gone from the new drive, and only the new drive icon showed up.  I was then able to format the disk with plain "Erase" (maybe with a "Repair" also), followed by copying of the old disk to the new, and that was all that was necessary to get a working disk.
After formatting the new drive, I thought maybe I needed to go to the Partition section of Disk Utility and create a partition.  However, this was not necessary.  I didn't do it, and yet the act of copying the old disk to the new apparently automatically created a partition.
To copy the old drive's data to the new drive, after formatting the new drive as above, select the "Restore" button in Disk Utility, drag the indented VOLUME icon (not the unidented DRIVE icon) to the Source text box, drag either the drive or volume icon of the new drive to the Destination text box (I'm not sure what I dragged, or whether it matters; the description above the Destination text box says to drag a volume, not a drive.  Logically, it makes sense to copy a drive to a drive, or a volume to a volume, and not cross the two.  But it may be that you have to drag the drive because there is no volume after erasing the new drive, I can't remember since I went through various problems with the formatting, as described above).  Then click Restore.  It takes many hours to complete, and additional hours to go through its verify process.  When finished, shut down, then take out the old drive and put the new one in, power up, and cross your fingers.  I couldn't believe it when it worked!
The system with the new drive seems to be working well, and faster, although there was a disturbing pause while typing for a while.  This seems to have gone away.  I was concerned that maybe the firmware in the drive needed updating, but after considerable trouble with Seagate's problematic downloads web site, I finally got a message that my firmware was the latest and did not need upgraded.
I still think the idea of using a large backup drive with adequate space for a disk image of the old drive should be a viable way to do this.  The process I would use to try this would be:
    - backup data with time machine
    - boot to recovery disk with Command-R held down, then start terminal, disable sleep, and start disk utility from it
    - in disk utility, make a disk image by choosing "Restore", drag the VOLUME icon, not DRIVE icon, of the old disk to Source, and drag the backup drive to Destination.  I can't remember now how I selected that an image be created, rather than copying and overwriting the entire backup drive, but I think it was an "image" button that did it.  Click Restore.
    - When the image is done being created (many hours), shut down, remove the old drive and insert the new one, and reboot into recovery mode (will boot from wifi), go to terminal, disable sleep, start disk utility from terminal.
    - Select the new disk, choose "Erase", and erase it to format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with a name you give it instead of untitled, and click "Erase".
    - Choose "Restore", drag the backup drive to source, click "Image" and select the image file that was created, drag the volume from the new drive to the destination text box, or if there is no volume, drag the drive to the destination box, and click Restore.  After many many hours, it should be done.  Reboot and cross your fingers.

No, I didn't ask.  Perhaps I should have, but thought there must be so many people doing it that the info would already be there.  I looked at a lot of posts about it.  Many in fact did mention Carbon Copy cloner, but after I found out I'd have to pay to use that, I focused more on ways to do it with Disk Utility.  Also, because I didn't have the USB cable, I focused at first on trying to find a way to do it with my backup USB drive and Disk Utility.  I couldn't find any posts describing doing it that way, or saying that that way would not work.  So I decided to give it a try, and although I failed that way, I'm glad I tried, and I still think it might work if done right.
It would not help to disable sleep in System Preferences, given that a different OS is booted using system recovery in order to run the stand-alone Disk Utility.  It does not use the same preferences that the running system uses.  I gather that Carbon Copy is able to do the disk cloning from the regular running OS rather than the stand-alone recovery OS?  That makes a big difference in how one goes about the whole process, but the posts generally say nothing about this.

  • Will not start on New Install. Opening goes straight to Crash reporter

Will not start on New Install. Clicking on icon does not open a window and goes straight to Crash reporter. I cannot access a window to try to open in safe mode (unless there is another method than outlined in the help article).
I run Windows XP and trying to install the latest 15.0.1 version. Before install, I did disable my Symantic virus protection. I have never used Firefox and would like to try it, but I'm having little success so far to even get started.
Please let me know if anyone has any other ideas or need more information from me.

hello Singyt, the bug report associated to this kind of crash indicates that it might be a malware related issue.
your crash report also shows a file named "urixalog.dll", which doesn't turn up any search hits on google, which is also slightly suspicious. could you search for that file on your pc and upload it to a site like virustotal.com in order to analyze it.
please do a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes].
[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]
edit: the bug report also suggests that a monitoring program named spector pro/360/... which essentially acts like malware, might cause the issue. in case you have that installed please remove it. otherwise [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes%20when%20you%20open%20it#w_backdoor-ulrbot-c here] would be a removal guide for urixalog.dll

  • Reader Successful Install is not successful

Yesterday, I had Reader X on my PC and it worked fine.  When I tried to upgrade to Reader XI, I downloaded it to my computer, and at the end I was told that the installation was successful, but Reader XI did not show up anywhere.  This happened 3 times.  So I deleted Reader X and tried to download Reader XI again.
I downloaded Adobe Reader from the Internet, saved it, and ran the exe file. At the end I was told that the installation was successful.  However, Reader is not on my computer.  There is no Reader icon on my desktop.  When I try to open a PDF document, Reader is not listed as an option for opening the document.
Adobe Reader is not in my Downloads folder, even though I saved it (when I downloaded it) and then ran the exe file.
I have a Compaq desktop PC running Windows XP.
How do I successfully install Reader on my PC?

I tried a variety of things to get Reader XI installed:
I had used Windows' System Restore to make a backup (restore point) before I began this fiasco of trying to install Reader XI.  I tried to restore to that restore point, but Windows said that it could not restore to that restore point.  No explanation was given.
I looked for Windows updates, but my Windows software was up to date.
I removed all traces of earlier versions of Reader folders and files.
I turned off my computer's security software while trying to install Reader XI.
I used different browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) to download and install Reader XI.
All of these attempts to install Reader XI failed.  I was able to download and save the installation (.exe) file on my hard drive, but when I ran the program, it did not install Reader XI.
After fighting this frustrating problem for 2-3 days, I found Reader X on the Internet, and downloaded and installed it without any problems.  So now I am back to where I was before trying to install Reader XI.  Since I am not a masochist, I plan to use Reader X indefinitely.
Thanx for you assistance. I truly appreciate it.  If someone can offer suggestions as to what may have caused my problem and/or how to successfully install Reader XI, I will try again.

  • I download itunes it says its successfully installed. then when i try to open it it says "apple application support not found" PLEASE HELP!!

I download itunes it says its successfully installed but then when i try to open it is says "Apple Application Support not found"

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • After downloading and installing the 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows I get a "Congratulations, you've successfully installed iTunes" message. However, when I plug in my iPhone to synch it I get a message that says that I don't the 64-bit version??

After downloading the 64-bit version of iTunes on my Windows 7 machine I get the "Congratulations, you've successfully installed iTunes" message.  However, when I plug in my iPhone I get an error message that says, in part, "...the required software is not installed.  Run the installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes".  I've been at this for hours, carefully deleting all Apple software (Apple Mobile Support, Quicktime, etc. and before each attempt to install the 64-bit version from Apple ( no third parties).  Same result each time!!!  Any ideas????

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • Anyone successfully install a epson artisan 810?

    greetings all,
has anyone successfully install a epson artisan 810 on a macpro 3.1 with Leopard (10.5.8) on it or any mac with 10.5.8?  I have tried numerous ways after reading others posts all over.  I just ordered a wifi card to see if that would get it going as wifi, the 2008 macpro basic model did not have wifi.  I can get it to print out of all my graphic programs connecting it thru usb direct using the artisan 835 driver.  It will not scan out of photoshop I have to use Espon Scan (the bundled scanning software).
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Hmmm...accordin' to Epson, the software you needed should have been included on a software CD. Epson sez you can add a printer via Bonjour. I see various versions of the all-in-one software on Epson's website, including stuff for 10.5.8. and no, it'll probably not scan via Photoshop. I think you have to install some kinda Twain plugin for the Epson scanner from the Photoshop DVD (optional install??).   You may have to find out and manually add the printer's IP address...sorry I couldn't be of more help

  • IF itunes & Quicktime wn't successfully install -3, 1628, 1714 errors PC

Hello - I had problems wherein i was unable to install itunes, i kept getting -3, 1628, 1714 & other error messages -
I finally got through to the Quicktime support department, which i provided at the bottom of this post. These are the directions they gave me, which i hope helps you:
First the -3 error and 1714 error codes refer to an older version of Quicktime, most likely that still resides on your computer, and because of this, the new version your are attempting to install cannot -until you delete this older version.
    1. In control panel, under ADD/REmove programs, be sure you either deleted or attempted to DELETE both itunes and Quicktime from your computer via this route, AND REBOOT your PC after doing so.
    2. Check your Quicktime folder for an uninstall program, if there is one, try un-installing quicktime with this program.
3.If you are still getting an error message -3 or 1714 [I found this error code in the Send error information that popped up from microsoft- Look in that error message for more information, it really is helpful!] with an attempt to install itunes and/or quicktime:
REFER to this support document from Apple -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    Read through this article -
If none really apply, or the article refers you to the microsoft website to get an Uninstaller program,
    Here is the link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
This is a utility created by Microsoft to remove traces of Windows Installer packages left behind by suspended installations from the Windows registry. This utility will unregister a Windows installer product from your computer. This will, however, not remove files installed by the package, which may need to be removed manually. For more information on MsiCleanUp, refer to Microsoft’s Knowledge Base article on the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
Once you run this program, select Quicktime from the menu on the right side; be careful to only select Quicktime and/or itunes. Both should be deleted if you are having problems installing the newer version of itunes in XP.
Then go to this site, to download and run the standalone version of quicktime, without itunes. This will also help narrow down problems should they still exist.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
If Quicktime installs without incident, itunes should also.
If you are still experiencing problems you can call Apple support for Quicktime; 512-674-8700.
I pulled my hair out for 3 days with itunes and quicktime before calling this tel number and being told the above..why microsoft or Apple couldn't spell it out for the "-3 or failure to successfully install itunes" is beyond me..But i hope this saves you time and trouble!
