Will a 250gb hard drive work?

I read that on the specifications page that my macbook is only supported up to 200gb hard drive ( its a mid 2007 model, sept 2007 to be specific) i was wondering if that means that a 250gb hard drive will NOT work?

The larger drive will work if it fits into the computer.
I'm not doubting your word for one minute, but I wonder why the spec mentions the upper limit of 200 Gb, if 250 Gb will work just as well?

Will a WD hard drive work with Airport Extreme to connect by a iPad Air

If you already have an AE and a WD drive .. the best idea is plug it in and see on a mac in airport utility is the drive recognised.
If not you have problems.. if it is formatted correctly (Not NTFS mainly) then it can be a drive that is not compatible.
assuming it works get your ipad and pay for filebrowser or at least download a test copy and see how it goes.
Always the best way to find out.. try it.

As you quote the price in 'Pounds' I'm assuming you are in the UK!
You might want to consider one of these from Amazon.  I have one on my MBA and it works well.

dual 2.0ghz? i plan to buy a 500g hard drive, and i thought i remembered reading somewhere that they couldn't handle them, but maybe i'm mistaken.
    thanks

Just remember that if you want to add the 500 GB internally it needs to be a SATA drive. Externally, you will need a Firewire Drive or an enclosure for an IDE drive. I have a 500 internal and just added a 750 GB Firewire External and they work fine...

  • Will new USB hard drive work in Safe Mode?

    Hello,
I just a had a recent post about some Toshiba laptop issues I am having.  To make sure I don't lose my files, I have have been looking at a Western Digital 500GB USB drive.
I'm able to boot to Safe Mode OK, and USB thumb drives have worked.  I noticed this WD USB drive has software to install.  Will I be able to use the USB hard drive for the first time in Safe Mode, or will I need to install the software first (which I don't think I'll be able to do in Safe Mode).
Just making sure I can before I buy it, thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

you should not have any problem installing the WD software in safe mode and perform the backup.

  • Mb881 how big of a hard drive will work? Will a 1tb hard drive work?

Im looking at getting a MB881 but the 120gb is way to small so I would upgrade I'm thinking a 1tb. Will it properly read the 1tb hard drive? What is the max haEd drive size that can go in a MB881 Macbook?

Hi, letmeno. If your 667MHz Powerbook has a DVI video-out port, it will format a nominal 160GB drive to its actual capacity (about 149GB) and use it happily, without any other limitations.
If you have the 667MHz model with a VGA video-out port, only 127-128GB of a 160GB drive can be recognized in it, and the last 20GB of the drive's actual capacity will be unavailable. Partitioning the drive has no effect on this hardware limitation.
A 120GB drive (the next size down) has a formatted capacity in any machine of about 111GB, so a 160GB drive actually provides a significant increase even in a Powerbook that can't use the whole drive. If you have the VGA model, and the difference between 111GB and 128GB is worth the difference in price between a 120 and a 160GB drive to you, go ahead and install a 160. Otherwise, even a 120 would certainly be a huge improvement over a 30.
If you do buy a 160, any later Powerbook or other recent Mac model will be able to reformat it to its full capacity. Whenever you move on to a newer Mac, you can just mount the 160 in an external enclosure for continued use, put the 30 back into the Tibook, and sell it or give it away.

  • My MacBook Air is running out of storage. Will an external hard drive work for me?

Good afternoon, Apple support forums! I recently made a BootCamp partition, and now my MacBook Air is running out of storage (about 13 GB left), and I realize that I cannot expand the storage on my Macbook Air without some DIY technical work. I looked into alternatives and came onto external hard drives (I'm looking at the LaCie Porsche Design P'9223 USB 3.0 Mobile Hard Drive - 2 TB, but this question is for external hard drives in general). I was wondering, just in case, if I could use it not for backup (as I already have an Apple AirPort Time Capsule) but as added on storage for my Mac. Also, would I have to keep the external hard drive plugged into my Mac 24/7 to have access to the files stored on it? Thanks in advance for any help!!

    1. Yes, you can.
    2. You only need to have it plugged in when you're accessing data on it.

  • Will this SATA hard drive work in my PB?

I see it has an ATA Ultra drive...wondering if a SATA will work in it, like the one below?

No, no SATA drive can be used in any Powerbook. You need an ATA/IDE drive.

  • Will this hard drive work with my macbook?

I have a late 2006 Core Duo Macbook. I was wondering if I could use this hard drive with my macbook, it's a 7200 rpm 200 gig hard drive. Btw I mean internal not external. Does the macbook have a limit on how big of a hard drive you can use? Would this hard drive work at 7200 rpm in the macbook?

    Hi.
The drive will work perfectly in your macbook. Two weeks ago i was also thinking about buying the Hitachi Travelstar 7k200.
But afterwards i bought this one:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136123
The WD Scorpio 250GB. Off course it´s not as fast as the Travelstar. But for me three things we´re quiet nice about this harddrive: the noise (it doesn´t make anyone) and the price (got it for 150 euro) and it consumes way less power (means better battery life).
    http://www.storagereview.com/WD2500BEVS.sr?page=0%2C7
BTW: It really doesn´t make any noise.
So just in case you´re still unsure whether to buy the Hitachi or anything else. But if you want the fastest notebook HD you can get today, buy the Hitachi.
Have a nice day and fun with your new HD!

  • Will this hard drive work in my 2009 MBP 13 inch?

Hello, I've decided to upgrade the hard drive in my Mid 2009 MBP 13 inch to roughly a 500gb from 250gb. My friend has a 2011 MBP 13" and he just upgraded it to 1TB and has his 500gb 5400rpm SATA 2 and said I can have it. Will that hard drive work in my 2009 MBP without any headaches? I just want to be sure before I put it in...Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

I think 750GB is the Max you can install in your 09 MB.  ( not a 100% sure )
I've seen some people trying to install 1TB on their 09 MB and had issues.
Give it a shot, if it doesn't work, you can always exchange it for the smaller 750GB.
    Good luck..

Remove iAntiVirus, then reboot, see if it's better.

Well, there are different versions of Sata.  See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#Revisions
I think this is the info someone would need:
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the word hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz

Look around & see if you can find the bus speed for the SATA.
