Will A 27 Inch Samsung LED Monitor work on my Macbook pro?

I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro and I am not sure what ports it has. I see 2 ports apart from the USB (2 ports), Power and LAN. I am planning to buy a 27 inch Samsung LED monitor for the laptop. Here are the Macbook specs:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz
Memory - 8 GB
Graphic - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
VRAM - 256 MB
I have read that even if I buy a monitor with speakers, I won't be able to get sound from them. What are my options if I buy a monitor with or without speakers? Will I need to connect to speakers using USB? The monitor has an HDMI port... in that case what cable will I need to connect the monitor to my MBP?
Thanx in advance for all your help.

Well you are in luck (I think) because the 2009 models actually output sound via HDMI with minidisplay port.**
you'll need to get this Mini DP
http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and an hdmi cord, and then just plug and play!

** to see if your model is compatible with outputting audio from minidisplay port.
in the comments from MM in Orlando, it says:
The best solution, instead of trying to figure out the date your mac was born and the cut-off, etc...
1. Click on the Apple Icon in the top left corner of the screen.
2. Click "About this Mac."
3. Click "More Info."
4. Click on "Audio (Built In)." *** If you see "HDMI Output or HDMI/DisplayPort Output
- Then you are GOLDEN!!!! If not, you are like me and extremely frustrated
if you're out of luck like me, you can also try to get a miniToslink to Toslink cord, that is if your new samsung led supports it. I run mine into a 5.1 reciever so it doesn't matter if my monitor has one or not.

    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

    How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.
I hope this information helps ....

Will Mario Teaches Typing 2 from 1997 work on my macbook pro?
My son needs to learn to type this summer. I'd like to know if this will work before I buy it.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Not likely, as far as I can tell the Mac version requires OS9 or below, which might work under Classic if you had 10.4.11 installed, the PC version may run under a Windows® emulator like Parallels, VMWare or VirtualBox.

  • Will a Mini-Displayport to VGA adapter work with new macbook pro 2011

I was thinking of getting a mini-displayport to vga adapter for my external monitor I wanted to hook up but I wasnt quite sure whether it would work as my macbook pro has the new thunderbolt port, I was confused if the new port would only work with the thunderbolt displays. Could anyone help me as I'm not too sure what will work.

I tried the Apple miniDisplayport to VGA in a Thunderbolt MBP and iMac and they both worked. Same for the Apple miniDIsplayport to DVI.

  • What 3rd party monitor works best with Macbook Pro?

I am trying to find a good inexpensive monitor that will work with my Macbook Pro and my work laptop.  I bought a viewsonic before I found out that they don't support MacOSX with their driver.  The aspect ratio was never correct, it went straight to 4:3, and i couldn't fix it.  Has anyone used an AOS monitor?

using a mini port adapter to VGA, with the VGA cable supplied by viewsonic.  I haven't tried different cable or adapter yet.  I am trying to use the external monitor with my macbook in clamshell mode (getting old eyes).  When I originally set it up the macbook immediately went to 4:3 on the internal monitor, and detected the VS monitor.  I tweaked the resolution manually and got the aspect ratio to fit into the full monitor screen, but it was stretched and the resolution had to be set way down in order to get full coverage.  With the 1920x1080 res the image was only "active" on the right 3/4 of the monitor, and even after I moved the image to the left it stayed in 4:3 and was offset to the right.  I saw something about a screen spanner doctor (?) fo rthe macbook.  WOuld that help?

  • Will all samsung led monitors work with macbook air?

recommendations for best 27" led monitor ( not a gamer), watching movies, when not working ~$400?

It is OK to use. See the quote below from Find the right power adapter and cord for your Mac notebook - Apple Support
Power adapters for Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Apple notebook. You can use a higher wattage adapter without issue, but doing this won't make your computer charge faster or operate any differently. Lower wattage adapters will not provide enough power.

  • 21.3" Samsung LCD Monitor with my 15" Macbook PRo

Hi.. I have a 15" Macbook pro and I recently hooked iit up to a 1600 x 1200 resolution samsung monitor. I would like to use mirror display but it looks terrible because they both use the same resolutions. Is it possible to use the mirror display mode while having the proper resolutions for each monitor? Also.. is it possible for the secondary screen to not go blank when playing full screen games? thanks

Mirroring means exactly the same thing will be on each screen. They both must run at the same format to mirror one another.
If you turn mirroring off, then the two screens can be set independently to their optimum resolution.
As far as your second question goes, I'm not sure. Are you saying that even when in mirror mode the second screen goes blank? In that case, I guess that means the game is taking control of the settings and turning mirroring off to free up maximum amounts of VRAM for the game. It's probably best that is happening because the game would no doubt experience a graphics slow down with less video memory at its disposal.

When I use Lightroom with the LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom 5 initially looks and works OK but when I try and make changes using develop I get a gray area where the image should be (see below). I have tried other resolutions and that made no difference. Other apps/programs work fine.

    Any suugestions would be appreciated.

Uninstalling the LG software will resolve this problem.

  • Is Satellite C650D compatible with an 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor?

    Hi.
Can anyone tell me if my laptop reference above in the subject line is compatable with the
Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor.
I want to use my laptop in dual role, but not sure if it will work.
If it is compatable how do you connect the monitor up to the laptop.
    thanks
    dean

    Hi
Generally speaking any external monitor is compatible.
But the question is how do you want to connect the external monitor to the notebook
For example the Satellite C650D-10H supports the External monitor port (RGB port) only.
So you need to use this port in order to connect the external monitor.
It seems that the Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor supports the VGA input so you should be able to connect this monitor using common VGA cable.

  • Samsung LED Monitor

I purchased a 27" Samsung LED Monitor for my father a few months back last year, and now when it comes on the screen flashes rapidly.  I tried adjusting settings and trying an HDMI cable but nothing worked.  I'd like to get it exchanged for another monitor but I have lost my receipt.  Would the store I purchased it from have a way to track past purchases?  If so, what would I need for that?

    Hi Emeritus,
Any store should be able to look up your receipt using just your phone number, name, or Best Buy Reward Zone member number. There is one main situation where we will not have a record of your receipt, and that is if the purchase was with cash and there was no Best Buy Reward Zone card used. As long as that's not the case, we should be able to find it for you! (:

  • I have 23 inch Apple HD Display. Will this work with my MacBook Pro? How shall I connect it?

I have 23 inch Apple HD Display. Will this work with my MacBook Pro? How shall I connect it?

    yarova818,
there were two different 23-inch Apple Cinema HD displays made. The first one was made between 2002 and 2004, and has an ADC connector. The second one was made between 2004 and 2008, and has a DVI-D connector.
If you have the display with an ADC connector, then according to this Apple page, your display will work with your MacBook Pro if it’s a 13-inch or 15-inch model. If you have a first-generation MacBook Pro, you’d need an Apple DVI to ADC Adapter (or equivalent) to connect them. If you have a Unibody or Retina MacBook Pro, then you’d also need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter (or equivalent) to complete the connection. A Retina model would also have the option of using a third-party HDMI to DVI-D adapter to complete the connection with the DVI to ADC adapter.
If you have the display with a DVI-D connector, then if you have a first-generation MacBook Pro, you should be able to plug it in directly. If you have a Unibody or Retina MacBook Pro, then the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter would let you make the connection. Again, Retina models also would have the option of using a third-party HDMI to DVI-D adapter.

  • LED monitor and a 2007 mac pro compatibility

My mac monitor is busted, I need to get a new one, though this time it won't be an apple one.  I have a 2007 mac pro, what I need to know is a LED monitor compatible with my mac pro.
    For instance, this one,
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005MHMFJA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid =A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
I need a monitor with lots of USB ports though am not sure about compatibilit, when it comes to LED.
    Thanks

That one will work.  You will need a DVI cable.

What SSD (Solid State Drives) will work with a MacBook Pro unibody  A1278?
I see all these options and I would like to know proper dimensions and speed:

    SATA II (3 Gbit/s)
    SATA (1.5 Gbit/s)
    PATA (IDE)
    mSATA
    PCI Express
