Will a Dual Monitor config. affect system performance?

I have an ATI Mac SE card installed [256 megs] in my dual G5 with 4 gigs of system ram.
Will a second monitor on the card affect system performance in any way?
thanks.
-ptfigg.

Paul,
How I distribute things depends on the size and relationship of the monitors.
One of the great things about FCP is you can save a great number of custom setups so, just play around and SAVE each set up. You can always delete ones that don't do it for you later.

  • An infoset in a Multiprovider affects system performance ?

    Dear One´s,
I have an info object 0COORDER which is used in the infoset and multiprovider. If the same infoset which holds this info object is used in the multiprovider, then does it affects any performance ?
    Thanks for your concern,
    Raj

    Hi Raja,
It does not make any difference in the performance using an infoset in multiprovider. Its all depend on the join condition which you are using in the infoset which fetches the data.

  • Will upgrading GPU on Mac affect LR performance?

I've searched around in vain for an answer to this question. I'm wondering if anyone knows if upgrading from the horrible 6600LE graphics card that came with my G5 Mac to the x1900 G5 Edition will improve LR performance? I know Aperture is heavily dependent upon the GPU, but as I recall LR is more processor-intensive. Does anyone know?

Probably very little. LR does not use the GPU in the same way as Aperture does. All operations AFAIK are done on the CPUs. This causes LR to be much faster on older macs where Aperture is either glacial or doesn't even run.

  • BW system performance monitoring query

    Hello SAP BW Experts,
I have a requirement in my project to set up a query to monitor the BW system performance which satisfies the below points.
    1. query should have a fixed, defined content which is not changing over the time (e.g. a fixed list of customers for a long closed month). This query should
be executed once every hour (and therefore should be reasonable small).
    2. the run-time of this query should be recorded and the results written back to the technical content.
    3. setup a query which is reading and reporting this technical content.
Please let me know if this is something to do with the reports on technical content cubes and which on which cube this requirement can be met.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    BR,
    Mohan

    Hello,
Yes the Query run time data will be automatically captured in cube. No there is no need to add any process type after creating any new query because it is a global data collector. It doesnt depend on specific query and provider.
You can also check further documentation on the providers mentioned on net. It willl help you to understand better. PLease check following document:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50f95b21-7fb8-2910-0c81-f6935d4c654b?overridelayout=true
Some part of above document wil help you understand the working. Overall document is about BW administration cockpit. But you can make use according to your requirement.
    Thank You.

  • System Performance(Health) Monitoring Tool

    Hi Experts,
We need to monitor our BW system performance at the database level, OS level, Data Retrieval level, Data loading level. Is there any tool or BW queries to track the performance?
    Regards,
    D. Dinesh

    Hi Dinesh,
I think the best tool is to subscribe an Early Watch report from BW, you can find all necessary information under www.service.sap.com/bi. SAP will send you a very detailed report with all your problem in the system at every level (DB - AWB - BEx - GUI - ...).
If you do not want this report (you must pay to have it) you can try with Statistics, check in Business Content for all related Structures, also if I am not sure this will satisfy all your requirements.
    Ciao.

  • Dual Monitors on Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro

    Hello:
I wanted to do a dual monitor system for work; I have two 24" Apple Cinema Displays -- as you know they come equipped with a Mini-DVI I/O along with a mag-power, and USB 2.0 I/O.  I found a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital ME [http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/digital_me/] as a possible solution, the issue I am having is that Apple has not made a DVI-D I/O on a Cinema Display since the 30" Display many years ago.  The Matrox product is new, and touts that it is Apple friendly but I cannot (for the life of me) find a cable/converter to go: Mini-DVI (female) to DVI (male) to make this work.  So, does anyone know if this cable exists, and if it does, where can I get it?  Or, does anyone know if someone makes a product that will allow dual monitors (NOT stretched desktop) that will go Thunderbolt/Mini-Display Port to Mini-DVI so I can get true dual monitors on my MBP so I can run it in clamshell mode on my desktop?
Just as a FYI, I am NOT interested in going to a USB solution as the refresh rate and resolution would not be good enough to warrant consideration.
Thanks in advance for all of your expert help and opinions!

The only way that you can use both a SSD in your drive bay and another hard drive is to install the hard drive in your optical bay. If you're willing to give up your optical drive, OWC sells kits to do just that.
Then you could use your external drives for data storage & backups.
    Is this a workable option?

  • Panel menus aren't working correctly on dual monitors

    Hi,
I posted a question yesterday about this, but no one replied.  Maybe my subject didn't describe the problem so I am trying again.
I use DW on a dual monitor Windows XP system.  The program is on the main monitor and I move some of the panels/palettes to the secondary monitor which is to the left of the main monitor.  The problem is that when I click the little menu icon in the upper right corner of the panels, the context menus open all the way over on the far right side of the main monitor.  Please see the attached image to see exactly what is happening.
I have tried everything I can think of to make this work correctly, but no luck.  My Photoshop workspace is set up similarly and the PS palette menus open just as they should.
    Thank you.

  • Need videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation -for PowerMac G5

I'm looking for a videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation for PowerMac G5. I've got two Dell 2407WFP monitors rotated to 90 -I've been running an ATI Radeon X1900 256 pcie16 but apparently it is over heating -not even exactly sure if that indeed is the case but all the symptoms I've looked up online point to this problem. Anyways -just looking for a card that will do the job -I don't run games -this is just for work machine doing photoshop and related programs. Thanks for any help anyone may have!

    Hi-
A flashed card is a WinPC card that has been modified to accept a Mac ROM to provide for Mac compatibility.
Occasionally, soldering and other physical modifications are required.
Without this modification, a WinPC graphics card cannot be used in a MAc.
Without this modification, Mac users are limited to only a handful of used, OEM options.
The Geforce 7800 GS is the only 7800 card that may be used in a G5 (or G4).
The card must have been or be converted to Mac compatibility.
For dual monitors (DVI) the best performance choices are the Geforce 6800 Ultra (flashed or OEM), a rare, but occasionally available Geforce 6800 GT (flashed), an OEM Radeon X800XT (use ADC/DVI adapter on ADC port) a rare and expensive Radeon FireGL X800 (flashed).
These are the only performance oriented cards to offer dual digital display support.
For less demanding graphics work, an OEM Radeon 9650 offers dual digital output.
Other OEM graphics cards will have either DVI/DVI or ADC/DVI.
All OEM graphics cards are only available as used.
All cards are easiest to obtain on eBay.
Prices vary, but deals can be found.
Expect to pay $150-$325 for any of the cards listed.
Any card considered MUST be stated as Mac compatible, unless you are willing to research and learn how to perform the necessary modifications.

  • Please help with these dual monitor problem

    Ok,
Well i am a final cut pro editor and i have a power mac g5 with 1.6 ghz.Its an older one but it runs great for what i need done. Anyway i wanted to go dual monitors so i went out bought a monitor and set it in place. However my graphics card only had 1 DVI PORT (Which had my main monitor on) and the other one was a ADC port. I bought a ADC to DVI-D and then realized it was the wrong one. Those Adaptors are very hard to fine, so i made up my mind a decided to forget that and get another graphics card. However i am not very good with that stuff and i really dont know which one to buy. Some others gave me a list but they were not the same as mine (slots didnt match)
*Here is my card that i have now*
    http://www.layton-family.net/stuff/stuff_files/image008.jpg
Can someone point me in the right direction about going to best buy and picking up a new one that will hold dual monitors and still run motion at a good level.
    Thannks

If you could find a real ADC to DVI-I adapter, it would work, but the Dr. Botts ADC to DVI adapter
    <http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Dr%2E%20Bott/ADCDVII/>
will not work with a DVI to VGA adapter. It does have a dual-link DVI-I connector, but the pins for analog video (and dual link) do not connect to anything. They use this connector because some non-Apple digital displays come with DVI-I and/or dual-link DVI plugs, when they only need DVI-D signals. The Dr; Botts adapter and (all others that I have seen) are only ADC to DVI-D. Even if they connect the dual-link pins from the ADC to the DVI connector, the result will be single-link DVI-D, since no ADC cards provide dual-link signals. There is no reason (other than cost) why an adapter couldn't connect the analog video signals from ADC to a DVI-I connector, but I don't know of any that do.
    From their web-page:
"DVI Extractor II makes an ADC-compatible display out of virtually any third-party flat panel display"
    Note they say "flat panel".
You need an ADC to VGA adapter. They are listed from $40 to $150. Still less than a compatible replacement graphics card, although you can get a card faster than you current one, if you pay enough.

  • M83 dual monitor vga black screen

I have a thinckentre M83 configuration with dual monitors.  The system has been operating fine until last week, post a Windows 8.1 update.  Now the analog monitor is in a sleep state and I can't get it to be recognized by the system.  I have checked all the drivers and everything is up to date.  Need assistance.

Since the system is still under warranty I believe, you can contact Lenovo support. They shuld provide troubleshooting assistance.

  • Will my graphics card affect the performance of Flash Professional on my computer?

    Hello everyone,
I want to know if the graphics card in a computer affects the performance of Flash Professional. Or if I am going to experience any issues with computer such as lag or errors. I want to use a computer that has an hd 4600 graphics card with and i5 dual core processor. Will this be more than enough or should I opt for a i5 quadcore with an intel iris?

  • System out on Dual Monitor systems

    Hi,
I am trying to write an application running on single processor, but dual monitor facility. So differnet monitor must get differnet display from same process.
May I know how can I capture the monitor standard output. I know we have System.out that is set to standard monitor, in this case I "think" it will consider the first monitor has standard output. So, how can I capture actual output stream to each monitor so that I can set the system out property to which ever monitor I wish.
    Thanks
    HKG...

I don't understand. System.out and System.err write to the standard out and err streams. When running Java in a command window under a GUI environment like Windows, Mac OS or Unix or Linux with X-based graphical displays, these streams will be default be displayed in the shell window that started the program. This window will be on what every display you placed it, the Java program has no control.
If the Java program is a GUI (AWT, Swing or SWT), then System.out and System.err output still goes (by default) to whatever shell window started the program or into the bit bucket if no shell windows as associated with starting the program.

  • After compressed the database table affect the system performance

There is a very big database table in my system called MSEG. It is about 910G and the wasted tablespace is about 330G. I want to compress the table, but the table is written and deleted frequently. will it affect the system performance if I compress the table. Or I can only select reorganize the dababase table avoid it affect the system performance? Thanks.

    Hi Huiyong,
If you talk about table compression, it cannot be done online. we need to do this with a planned downtime. Table compression has some percentage of overhead on CPU. Refer SAP note for
    1289494
    FAQ: Oracle compression
    1436352
Oracle Database 11g Advanced Compression for SAP Systems
If you talk about online table reorg, yes definitely there would be impact on user performance.
As the table size is very big it may take some days or hours to perform online Reorg.
Other faster method is to perform table export import which is faster than online reorg. But it will again require downtime .
    Hope this helps.

  • I've connected my external monitor (LG) to my new Macbook Pro 15" laptop, using the adaptor for VGA...the display now has a large black bar along the left side.  No adjustment on the monitor will fix it, no "options" on System Prefs either...any ideas?

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro, and connected it ot my external monitor (24" LG HD) using an Apple VGA adaptor.  The only resolution that looks good is the 1920 x 1080, but the image does not entirely fill the screen.  There is a large black gap on the left side of the screen now.  It worked fine with my "last generation" Macbook Pro...no adjustment on the monitor will help, and cannot find any System Setting in displays such as "options" or widescreen setting.  I've gone to the LG site, but no "Mac" related tech support issues come up...no forum here seems to deal with this particular issue either...any ideas?

I have the same thing but with a 23 inch HP, worked fine with my MBP 13 from 2009 but the 2011 2.4 i5 does the exact same thing as yours!
Very confused and hoping that some one else can help.
    Thanks
