Will a photo take more space

if located in events and then in two or more albums in iPhoto? I want to organize photos as I have been getting a message that the startup disc is full.

How much free space do you have on your startup disk? It's recommended that a miminum of 10 GB be kept free for optimal system and application performance.
If you're getting very low in disk space you could get to a point where your Air will freeze or crash and not reboot.
It's important that you free up space on your Air immediately. One option is to get an external hard drive and move your library to it to run.
A smaller, "travelin'  library can be kept on the Air with those more recent or needed photos in it.  Photos can be copied between libraries with the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager by Event or Album.

  • Why does it take more space for pictures to be stored in iPad than iPhone?

Why does it take more space for pictures to be stored in iPad than iPhone?
The same pictures in iPhone utilises half the storage space than in the iPad.

Photos on the ipad should take up little  more space than It does on The iPhone because of the screen resolutions size.
Keep in mind If the photos are being stored on the device by Photo stream they will Take up less Space or if The photo Are being store by itunes syncing they may take up a little more.

  • Problem Export to Excel it takes long time and Takes more space.

    Hello All,
when we export to Excel in portal(reports), it takes long time and it takes more space.
how to overcome this problem please any one knows provide the proper solution for this issues
    Regards,
    Ch.

    Hi Chetans,
I have had the same problem, and I had to create a OSS message to SAP in order to solve this issue, until now I don't have an answer. They made me to change a lot of configuration in Java and BW without luck. To tell you more, when we try to export to excel the java instance restarts aumotatically.
But we have this problem, when we try to export a huge quantity of data, so I found a note which says the limitation of exporting to excel. Take a special attention to the Performance section.

I recomend you that you create a message to SAP. If you find a solution, please let me know.

  • Wifi sync causes photos to take more space

I've noticed that in iTunes 10.5.3 if I check the box to allow Wifi Sync my photos go from taking 2.1GB to 2.9GB. I can't imagine why this would be, and I have not activated this option to confirm this would be the case (I cannot spare the extra 800MB right now).
Has anyone else seen this? Can someone check/uncheck the box without applying and confirm for me this is not an isolated issue?
    Thanks in advance.

Tried that and it wont work. I have my iphone connected to the computer and went to computer-->apple iphone-->DCIM and tried to delete the folders and the error keeps saying "could not be deleted the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected" but my phone is connected...

  • IPhoto library takes more space than the actual data that is in it.

Why is iPhoto Library taking almost 10 GB more than the real data i have in it ?

I have the original photos in a folder and it takes 10.7 GB of space in my hard drive, but when I get info from the iPhoto library its taking 17.9 GB of space
Do you have two copies of the photos on the HD? Why?
I have read that every single move I do in iPhoto it makes a copy of the file for backup no matter how big the photo is, even if you just rotate the picture,
When you edit a pic - including Rotation - iPhoto makes a copy of the Original and carries out the edit on that copy and saves it. However, if you then make another edit it does not make a second copy, it simply destroys the first copy and applies the total edits to a new copy. So there is never more than your Original and a single Modified version of your pics.
that’s just taking so much space I need is there any way to make iPhoto stop doing that?
No. If you don't want that, simply don't use iPhoto. IPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager and it coheres to the best practices of DAM by treating your original file like a film photographer protects his negative.
Also when look in the finder and search for every file I have used during the day, if I had just open iPhoto once it will apper a lot of this files called like Album.999001.ipmeta that are from iphot. If I haven used it just opened it why is it showing that ?
This is just the way that iPhoto works. These ipmeta files are tiny 4kb files. They take up the smallest amount of disk space possible.

  • Photos Take Up Space After Deletion, Also Can't Be Transferred

A primary use for my iPad atm is previewing my shots made on the field with a Camera Connection Kit. However, a problem I noticed pretty early on is certain files would be corrupt when transferred onto my iPad, and certain files would fail to appear when I synced my iPad to my iMac. Furthermore, upon deletion on the iPad, the photos seem to still be taking up space on my iPad (over 12GB unfortunately). I can't delete them through Image Capture or iPhoto (or find them at all) which suggests that the data has successfully deleted, but the graph at the bottom of my iPad page in iTunes proves otherwise.
Is there any way I can check to see if the photos are actually there?
If the photos are there, is there any way I can delete them short of wiping my whole iPad?
If I'm unclear in any of this I'll be happy to clarify.
Thank you for your time and help,
    Eric

Very very odd situation now. During a sync iTunes asked me whether or not to remove the photos (bar the Camera Roll shots) and I click yes, hoping it would solve my issue. However, it has only presented me with more confusion (and frustration). The following screenshots will explain my plight:
First, the odd "ghost" events, all dated August 7th, around the time this issue first cropped up. When I tap into any of them, I'm presented with an empty page with an empty toolbar. No option to delete them, or anything to explain their being there.
Now, while I'm looking around (for the nth time) in the Photos tab of my iPad sync page for something to let me clear my Photos app, I see something off about my drive space graph. The "Free space" section is clearly out of proportion, which in a graph is obviously not supposed to happen. So, I go to the About page on my iPad to find out what's going on...
At least my ghost photos are truly ghosts now... they aren't even being listed as Photos anymore! Looking down I see that I have 7GB of free space left. Hmm... subtracting my 12GB worth of ghost photos from my iTunes listed free space gives you 7GB. So it looks like iTunes is both seeing my ghost photos (shown as orange in graph) and not seeing them (as evidenced by the incorrect/correct free space statistic). Similarly, my iPad sees the photos (only 7GB of free space left) and does not (only 69 photos listed). It'd be less confusing if both devices agreed to see and not see the same thing, but my iPad claims a different free space statistic from iTunes!
I'm just as confused as my devices are. Can anyone shed some light on this mind boggling situation?

  • Do the events photos take up space on my mac? Can't seem to delete them.

When I try deleting "events" photos off iPhoto on my MacBook Air, they are still there. I dragged them into the trash and apparently nothing happens. Do I need to worry about them taking up space on my Mac? I do not have enough memory

Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item.
Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.
With iPhoto 9 and later after deleting a photo from the library it is moved to the Trash bin in the Dock which also must be emptied to remove it from the hard drive.

  • My songs take more space than they would normally do

    Hello
I have Exactly 677 songs on my iPad, and everything is ok. But recently, ive noticed that those songs take a little more than 5 GB! Ive read articles and they say that 700 songs take 2 GB, and i dont even have those 700. And they take up to 5 GB! Is there something wrong? How can i fix it?
    Thanks

The file size depends on the format, bit rate, number of channel and method of compression. You cannot measure it's size by the number of songs.

  • If i purchase more iCloud storage, will it allow me to take more photos to keep in my photo library? Or does iCloud storage just count towards photostream?

If i purchase more iCloud storage, will it allow me to take more photos to keep in my photo library? Or does iCloud storage just count towards photostream?

Sorry, thats wrong. I just installed iOS 8.1 and got an error saying that it requires 5,6 GB of free space, but I have only 2,6 Gb free space in my iCloud Account.
You will need to pay in order to use iCloud Photo Library in order to use it for a huge collection of photos. 5GB is not very much.
Edit: I though you were talking about iCloud photo library.. I got that wrong.

The photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted from your phone using third-party software, if you want them on your computer, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Since you're using a Mac, you can use this:

  • HT204022 I have successfully saved all of the photos on my Iphone 5 to my PC.  Now I want to delete them from my phone so that i can free up space and take more pictures.  How do I do this?

I have saved all of the photos on my Iphone 5 to my PC.  Now I want to delete them from my phone only to free up space and take more pictures and video.  How do I do this?

You sould have been given the option to delete them after importing when you imported them, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
To do this on your phone, open the album you want to delete photos from (so you are viewing the thumbnails), tap Select, tap the photos, then tap the trash icon.  (There is no "select all" option.)

  • I have iPhoto 4.0.3. I want to know if it will take less space on my 8 GB thumb drive if I scale the photos smaller

Hi -- My computer is gonna hold itself hostage unless I free up some space! I figure a good place to start is with photos. I have iPhoto 4.0.3 and want to export my photos to an 8 GB thumb drive. Would it be better for me to export them as jpegs? If I can scale the photos to be smaller size, will the require less space? Any help for an old-timer with old-timey stuff?

Any time you reduce the file size, i.e. read qualtiy, or file dimension, i.e. read height and length in pixels, you will reduce space needed to store the photo on a hard drive or flash drive.  But both will reducer the quality of the photos.  The first, reduces the image quality by using more jpeg compression while saving the image file and the other throws away a good part of the data, i.e. pixels, thus reducing the size of a photos you can print in high resolution.
What with the low cost of external hard drives why not get an external hard drive to move your iPhoto library to and run it from there.  That way you can recover important free space, (10 GB minimum free space is recommended for optimal system and application performance).
Or keep a full library on the external HD and a smaller library on your boot drive with just the more recent or necessary photos.  You can use iPhoto Library Manager to copy events or album between the two libraries and keep keywords, titles, and other metadata intact.
However, if you must degrade the photos to save space I would export the photos as Format=JPEG, Quality=Medium and Size=Full size.
What you plan to do with the reduced size photos on the flash drive.

  • Will photos in Photo Stream take up space in the device?

This is somewhat of an awkward comment but I have been hearing complaints about not being able to delete photos in Photo Stream, and althoguh I am aware photos in Photo Stream are in the Cloud, would they take any space in the device's hard drive? Just to confirm, thanks.

Yes, images in Photo Stream do use device storage. You might wish to consider downloading them on a computer (assuming that is an option) or using a cloud service such as Box or DropBox to back them up. In any event, if these images are important to you, you do need to move them to a permanent storage option.

  • Why do iPod photos take up more GB space than iPhoto photos?

I sync all of my iPhoto photos to my iPod; the entire library is 1.1GB. Even though I have not checked "include full resolution photos", my iPod photos take up over 1.8GB. How does this make sense? It seems to me that since I am not putting on full resolution (mine are 2-3MB each, 3072x2304 jpg), that the photos on the iPod should be 320x240 (screen resolution), and those should not take up much space at all. Here is a list of the files under Photos/Thumbs on my iPod.
    F1015_1.ithmb
F1019_1.ithmb (this file has not been modified since Jan 2007, and was created and last opened Oct 2006; it is 500.3MB, which is exactly the size of the 2 files below this one!)
    F1019_2.ithmb
    F1019_3.ithmb
    F1019_4.ithmb
    F1024_1.ithmb
    F1036_1.ithmb
All of the rest of the files were modified and opened today, since I synced today.
I already tried removing all of the iPod photos, then re-syncing them. Do I need to reformat my iPhoto library, or my iPod library, or something else? thanks

    I've had this problem too.
For instance, I copied one particular albums artwork on each of it's 14 mp3's. To do this, I highlighted all of the files in iTunes and right clicked and hit Get Info. Then, I clicked and drug the file (from My Computer) and dropped it into the "Artwork" window.
I started with 67mb of space. After I added the images to the songs, I had 37mb of space left. *The image file was only 14kb!*
Why does it take up so much space? Has anybody posted a solution to this problem?
