Will a System Restore Lose My CS6 Activation
I've lost both of my Raid0 arrays on start-up today, and Win7 start-up repair has not fixed it, so I am looking at a System Restore. I'll probably have to go back to before I installed CS6 full release, and I am wondering if I am going to remove CS6 with the Restore without decativating it. My Program files are all on my SSD boot drive and OK, and I have full backup for the two raid0 arrays.
Just to summarise this unhappy event, I have not confirmed, but it looks very like one of the pair of 300Gb Velociraptors that I used as my video Projects drive, has failed. After several very slow restarts, Windows 7 gave up trying to initialise the array on start-up, and the other raid0 which has a pair of 1Tb WD Blacks, became available and the system boots in the usual time now.
I got hold of another 2TB WD USB3 external today, and backed up the contents of the second raid0 array directly between the drives. ShadowProtect is restoring the failed raid0 array to the new drive as well. That will give me two backups of my main data drive. I'll also copy the video projects to another drive to give me three copies of that data (including the Shadow Protect image)
I now have 9Tb spread over 11 drives (if I include the failed Projects array drive which will have to be replaced). That has to multiply the chance of failure, and I am thinking Shadow protect is best $90 I ever spent. You don't even know it's there, and you can set the incremental save points as little as 15 minutes apart I think.
So a good outcome to what started as a very bad day. Thanks Noel and Pete for your input.

We had a lot of data on our Mac (i.e. photos, iTunes libraries etc) which we backed up via Time Machine. The hard disk corrupted so we had to get it wiped. When we got it back, my parents started using the mac as per usual but they didn't do a full System Restore from Time Machine. So, if I do a full restore now, will it erase any of the new photos, musc etc that is currently on the mac?
The Time Machine restore will only restore what is on Time Machine. Making a clone is probably a better means of ensuring whatever data you want recovered gets recovered together with Time Machine.
Generally speaking, applications that are newer than the operating system from Apple that are included with the operating system are not supported. So in your data recovery process from your clone, you'll have to be careful what data you choose to copy back. -

I need to do a system restore on my mother's iPad Air. She is an avid player of certain games on Facebook. I'm wondering if her data, i.e. FB Slotomania bank roll, will be deleted....? I'm thinking no, but would just like to confirm. Thanks!!Cap, you may be right on that, if the FaceBook account and all associated content are associated with her and NOT your Apple ID then she will be ok with you switching the Apple IDs.
Is the iPad she has one that came with FaceBook installed or did you install FaceBookusing yourq Apple ID? If the FaceBook app came preinstalled then she owns it and the coins...as I understand how FB works.
You can do a simple test, go to Settings > FaceBook and check how the account and password are entered. Check the Settings for FB and see if there is any tie to you.
If not, go to Settings > iCloud and Delete Account so there is not the tie there to you. Create an Apple ID and password and email address for your mother, then enter that account for her. Go to the Stores > Apple ID > Sign Out, back up and change the Apple ID to the new one you created for your mother, then move forward and Sign in...you will have to enter the new password.
Now you can test and see if she can successfully play her game.
If so, in Settings go down each app and see if any are tied to your ID and if so, change them.
That way you have not done a bulk erase of settings and content but should make the iPad hers. -
Will a System Restore cause me to loose edits
I've edited a lot of my landscape photos in lightroom and I'm having computer issues.
The tech wants me to do a system restore and I'm worried I'll loose all my edits.
Is there anyway to prevent loosing the edits for when I re install lightroom?
Other advice?This will not happen. A system restore does not affect your data, whether it is Lightroom or some other program (Word, Excel).
Now just to be 100% clear, if the tech want to wipe your hard drive and reinstall your operating system, that's different ... you don't want to do that without first making backups of all of your data.
Which brings up the question ... do you have backups of all of your photos and your catalog file? Sounds like you don't, otherwise you wouldn't be worried right now. In my opinion, making these backups on a regular and automated basis is MANDATORY, and you need to begin doing this, as soon as this system restore problem is resolved, and no excuses. -

I have CS6 installed and now I get a window about creative cloud every time I open Illustrator. I have to select if I want to continue trail (never want to) or buy (what for). When I click it away my software is trail instead of licensed. I have to enter my license code again.
But the next day it starts again and again and again!!!!
Is there any solution or to get rid of the annoying creative cloud pop up?
ThanksNobody can tell you anything without proper system information. It simply seems you do not run with sufficient user privileges or some security tool/ system restore is reverting your activation.

System Restore from TM with Windows on Bootcamp
I have a question about using TM to do a system restore. I have a MBP Mid 2010 running OS X 10.9 with 8GB RAM. I have a 500GB HD with 260GB free space. Boot camp partition is 35GB with 17GB free. I have Windows XP installed on a Boot Camp Partition. I use Windows to run one program for work about once a week so I must keep it. I have current TM backups. I have never done a system restore on this system.
In the past week my system has slowed down to a crawl. Activity monitor shows I am using 7.99 GB of RAM. After boot it is using 5GB but within minutes it is at the 8GB. I cannot seem to find the culprit that is slowing my system down. So I am wondering if doing a System Restore will fix the problem.
Questions...
Will a system restore from TM fix the issue or will it restore the problem?
Can I restore just the Mac partition w/o affecting the Boot Camp partition? (I no longer have the Windows CD
If I restore from TM can I choose to not restore certain Apps that I no longer use or should I just drag those to the trash?
If restore is an option, should I erase the MAC partition before doing the restore? Will this leave the boot camp partition in tact?
Should I erase the entire HD, Restore from TM, Make a Boot Camp partiton, purchase a new Windows CD and install?
Any help and direction you can provide is greatly appreciated.

DaleWow, I just went to check exactly when my last back-up was and go ahead with a new one, and I see that in the drop down TM menu it has grayed out "Time Machine Not Configured," which I guess is no surprise since my whole machine was messed up and I had to do the A&I Monday night (not saving user settings). Not sure what this means, but when it comes time to do the disk erase/system restore, I will need to have some communication there. Hmmm. No problem with my MBP accessing the external. Not sure if this constitutes a new problem...

I would like to do a system restore on my MacBook Pro but I do not want to lose Photoshop Elements, etc. Can I put them on my external hard drive? Also, will they be deleted from the computer or no?
Always make a backup of your content before reinstalling the operating system so reduce the chance of losing content.
If you do a simple reinstall of Mac OS X, and do not do a clean or erase install, you should not lose content. All you do is reinstall the operating system itself. But, again, make a backup as a protection. -
I plugged my iPhone in to put some music on but it said that there was a problem and couldn't be read properly so it required a system restore. I want to know if I will lose all of my game save data if they are connected through Game Center.
You can try a restore from a backup first. That should have no affect on your data. It is when you do a restore as a new device that you will lose all of your data, game data, etc.

I was running Firefox fine just yesterday. I screwed up the registry a litle while removing an installed program completely, so I restored the system and everything appeared to work fine. I then decided to play an old video game, Return to Krondor, which was made back in 1998, so I ran the program with no other programs running in compatibility for windows 98. After finishing the game, I closed it and put the computer in hibernation mode. I come back today and firefox will not run at all. It is not running in the background and there are no programs running. There are no services running which could interfere with it. I think somehow Firefox may think I'm in compatibility mode still, but I have no idea.
I'm running windows Vista 32 - bit with an AMD 2.4ghz processor, 4gb ram on an Emachine computer. I have already tried system restore, restart, processes etc. Nothing works. I can still run Internet explorer and all other programs.The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10.

My iphone 3gs will not connect to itunes and it says that I need to do a system restore. It also says that I need to enter my password on the iphone to connect to itunes but I can not do this because the phone is in emergency phone call mode only.
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
Unfortunately, the data on your phone is already gone if you're seeing the connect to iTunes logo. -
Itunes will not stay close ever since I updated to 10.5.3 version. I try to close program and it pops right back up! The only way to close is open tack manager and stop the itunes.exe and the itunes.help then it will stay close. I did a system restore back to the earlier version of itunes but problem presisted. I finally did the task manager again and downloaded the update to 10.5.3 and this seemed to resolve the problem for awhile but now it is back! Is anybody else experiencing this problem? and where you able to correct it? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit have never had a problem with anything till now. I ran scans of my machine no viruses.

After the update to v10.5.3 iTunes isn't shutting down anymore. I have this error on various Windows versions (XP SP3, Win7 x86, Win7 x64.
On my private Notebook v10.5.2.11 still works! I won't update iTunes there - not even for a test .

Firefox 4.0 cannot find the Yahoo mail URL. Working with the Verizon tech we were able to get Internet Explorer to finaly find the yahoo mail web site. But not luck with Firefox 4.0 .
Since trying your suggestions to make firefox 4 find the Yahoo mail URL. I have noticed that all of my system tray icons except the Panda anti virus and volume control icons have disapeared. My system restore will not restore and printers are gone altogether. How do I get the old firefox and all i've lost back.
