Will Adobe help me reinstall my CS5.5?

My computer's hard drive crashed last week and I had to purchase a new hard drive and order the recovery cd's from Compaq/HP.  I am unable to locate my download disk.  I found my coupon code and Product serial numbers, I even have the original case.  I am a student with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division.  Can Adobe help me with this issue?

Download the trial version from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html
Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links will not work.
Launch the trial and enter your serial number to license it as a permanent version.

  • Still no insert fluid div...when will Adobe help?

    Hi -
I have been using DW CS6 for some time. No problems until a recent update.
I have read all the forum threads and none apply to me - no virus attack, no problem with installation...
The insert fluid div options simply disappeared.
    (Version 12.2, build 6006)
Is there a thread I have not seen?
All the threads I found end up with Adobe engineers or forum experts directing users to check for a virus on their computer or (ack!) reinstall DW CS6.
    I am a Cloud subscriber.
    What's up?
    thx

I have a similar problem. I am using DW CS6 Version 12.2, build 6006 and am following the Adobe tutorial video http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-dreamweaver-cs6/using-fluid-grid-layouts/.
I created the "new fluid grid" page from the file menu as per the tutorial and it creates all the associated files and  looks fine in the design view but I have no insert fluid div commands on the layout tab or insert menu options.
In the design view I can duplicate the initial div it creates multiple times, re-size them and move them without any problems.
I have tried this on 2 separate PCs (running Win7 Home premium & Win7 Professional) with exactly the same results.
I also had the same problem some time ago (using same DW version I believe) when I tried the tutorial but failed to find any resolution then either.
Highly unlikely it is due to a virus I think (all my machines have virus protection and are clean).

  • CS5.5 won't open Adobe Help, only browser

    Hi all,
I am having some problems with the Adobe Community Help application.
    I am running CS5.5 under Windows 7 64-bit on a Samsung NP700G7C laptop.
I noticed today that clicking links in the Adobe Help application did nothing at all, unless they were right-clicked and opened in a new tab of the application.
As this behaviour was frustrating, I followed the steps on this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/help-application-doesnt-update.html
Upon first run, the reinstalled Adobe Help application offered to download local content, which I allowed.
    Several odd things then happened:
Even after downloading the available content, and without any CS5.5 applications open, Adobe Help wouldn't close - it minimised to the system tray. This wasn't how it used to behave.
Clicking help from any CS5.5 application opens its help page in my web browser, not Adobe Help.
There is no option in Adobe Help to use it rather than the browser (contrary to what's described in the final issue on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/known-issues-community-help.html)
So now that Adobe Help is reinstalled and updated, how do I get the CS5.5 applications to "see" and use it again?
    Thanks for any advice!

Help Manager does indeed stay in the tray, looking for updates.  But since updates don't happen all that frequently in reality, feel free to quit or kill the app via task manager. Acrobat X should open local help —it's possible that you many not have the PDF in their shared docs folder.
Also, Creative Suite updates don't include Adobe Help Manager or the Community Help Client app — so you may need to do one more thing to thoroughly uninstall the app:
    1. Uninstall  Adobe Help via "Add Or Remove Programs" utility (Windows)
    2. Delete the following directory:  %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1  (Windows)

You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

  • I'm reinstalling Windows 7. What information will I need to reinstall CS5?

    Hello,
I'm planning to wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows 7. What will I need to reinstall CS5? Do I just need my serial number? How can I find that? Do I need to contact customer support if I can't find it?
    Thanks

You should deactivate your CS5 suite before wiping anything so that you have your activation available.  This is usually done by opening one of the applications and choosing Help -> Deactivate.
You will need your serial number.  If you own the disc then it should be located on the disc cover.  If you registered the software then it should be available thru your Adobe account online.  If neither of these work out, then you would have to contact Adobe support directly and provide sufficient evidence that you own the application to see if they will provide you with the serial number.
If you purchased an upgrade version of CS5 you will also need to have the name and serial number for the qualifying older version that you upgraded from.

  • CS2 Photoshop 'Adobe Help Center ' will not open

    Hi,
I have been retouching ancient photos and need to use the help files.  I can successfully click on the help button and it will place a 'Adobe Help Center' button on my task bar, but it will not open.  I have used the help center before and had no problems with it.
    Thanks for any help.
    Magic4Mom

Today I have tried to work through the instructions again for solving this problem.  I am working on the thought that something was corrupted.  These are the steps I took:
Deleted the Photoshop_9.0_en-us.zip file that was in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/AdobeHelpData/Packages.
Downloaded the Photoshop help file "Photoshop_9.0_en-us.zip" and saved it directly to:  Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/AdobeHelpData/Packages.
    2. Delete the contents of the Cache folder (not the folder itself) in the following location:
    -- On Windows: Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/AdobeHelpData
    3. Delete the adobeassistance folder in the following location:
    -- On Windows: Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/AdobeHelpData/Database
    4. Manually launch the Adobe Help Center:
    -- On Windows: Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Help Center/ahc.exe
I could watch the program install the components into the various folders.
When I opened CS2 Photoshop and tried the help button, it again placed a button in the status line but would not open any files.
I did note that the ahc.exe and the ahcremind.exe files were both listed next an icon that had a large question mark - ? - on it.  Does that question mark mean the exe command is nonfunctional or that it is a file for questions?
If it means that the exe command is nonfunctional, how do I download a new exe file?  Do I have to delete the whole CS2 program and reinstall?
    Thanks for any answers.

If you registered CS4 then you might be able to find the serial number for it in your Adobe account online.  If not, you still might be able to get someone in chat to assist you with getting it.
Chat support - For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...

  • Will Adobe CS5 work with Intel HD Graphics card 3000?

I am thinking about buying this laptop. http://www.staples.com/HP-Pavilion-dv7-6163us-17.3-Laptop/product_343565
Will Adobe CS5 run on it OK?

Both of the HP laptops that you mentioned will be quite sluggish in running CS5, even compared to a cheap $400 desktop:
    1) Neither of those laptops have more than one single internal hard drive, which is already below Adobe's stated minimum requirements. Adobe requires a minimum of two discrete fast hard drives (no partitions) in order to run CS5 at all. Unfortunately, neither of those HP laptops have an eSATA port at all. (Those HP laptops have two USB 3.0 ports - but USB by itself doesn't support RAID at all.) Nor does either of those two laptops have any provision whatsoever to accommodate nore than the included internal hard drive.
    2) Based on the CPU alone, your first choice of a laptop with an i7-2630QM is better - but only if it also has an Nvidia GPU with 1GB or more. The CPU in your second choice, an i5-2410M, is only a dual-core CPU (in fact, all mobile i5's are only dual-core) - and no system (laptop or desktop) with a dual-core CPU performs as well in CS5 as even a mediocre system with a quad-core CPU.
    3) Neither of those two HP laptops come with (or is even available with) a GPU that supports MPE GPU acceleration. The first choice has only the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics while the other comes with an onboard AMD Mobility Radeon GPU. And as we all know, both of those systems would have run CS5 only in MPE software-only mode. There is a plugin to allow CS5 to utilize the QuickSync feature of the first laptop (the second one cannot utilize QuickSync at all because it uses a discrete GPU) - but that would have speeded up only the encoding times (it would not have helped rendering times much if at all).
    4) All consumer HP systems - both laptop and desktop - come pre-loaded with a ton of bloatware that cannot be easily uninstalled (or more precisely, software whose uninstallation still leaves behind pieces of it that actually slows down system performance and/or makes it run less stably). Worse, neither laptop includes a system restore disk (all of the restore files are on a locked hard drive partition that can only be accessed by one of HP's authorized service facilities). HP will sell you a recovery/restore disk, but that will cost you an additional fee.
    5) Both of those systems come with only 6GB of RAM. In the case of laptops, 8GB is recommended if you're going to run CS5 much. Although the systems theoretically support 16GB of RAM, those two laptops have only two DIMM slots, and there are currently no compatible 8GB modules on the market.
    6) Finally, the internal hard drive spins at only 5400 RPM. Laptop hard drives, as a rule, are slower than desktop hard drives (sequential speed wise). You'd be lucky if that 750GB 5400 RPM hard drive can sustain even half the sequential speed of the slowest current-production "Green" desktop hard drive.
As a result, both of those laptops would have been slower in the PPBM5 benchmark than most (if not all) of the desktops on the PPBM5 results list.

WILL  Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 or Later version 8.7.1 work with Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 extended version 12.1 x 64 bit with a Mac OSX
10.7.5 lion. I am having trouble opening RAF raw files on my newly acquired Fuji X100S camera. Many thanks

With that version of Photoshop, the most recent version of Camera Raw you can use is 6.7. If updating your Photoshop or subscribing to the creative cloud is not an option then you could use the free DNG converter provided by Adobe. The latest version of the DNG converter is 8.7.1. I am not familiar with Mac operating systems, so I'm not certain if your OS is compatible with the latest version. You can download it and try.

Raw files from the new Nikon D810 will not open with either Photoshop CS5.1 or Lightroom 4.  When will a real Adobe solution be available to work with Raw (NEF) files in their native format, using CS5.1 and LR4?

Clarification: this is a user forum; you are not addressing Adobe here.
The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
CS5 is history and it is not longer supported.  There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..

Your suggestion of breaking up the export to pdf into sections of pages was excellent. I don't know why I didn't think of it...maybe because I was in panic mode.
For anyone else who experiences this problem, I exported 50-page sections to pdf with no problem. I now have 7 hi-res pdfs, but that's no problem. The printer should have no problem dealing with it. No error messages came up.
The only thing I can think of is that InDesign couldn't export that many documents (148) in the book palette to hi-res pdf, and it has no error message available to explain the cause—either outside ID's ability to process or out of memory, even though I have 16G of RAM.
    Thanks again for your help!
