Will Adobe support Authorware?

One of my concerns is that Adobe has switched over
all the other Macromeidia products to the Adobe branding but not
Authorware. My concern is Authorware is going to be phased out. My
concerns are amplified by the poor support provided by Adobe of
Authorware now that the support functions ar combined. Her is my
story: I created at web issue on line. I will admit I did this
right around the transition of closing the Macromedia support. My
issue was upgrading from Authorware 6.5 to 7.0. It took three weeks
to get a responce. I was very patient. Finally it was determined I
needed to talk with a support person by phone to unlock the
software. I called the ohone number and the support person was
clearly not on US soil and we had difficulty communicating. I was
patient. I am upgrading from 6.5 to 7.0 and the upgrade box clearly
said only will upgrade from 6.5 but this person tried a 6.0 unlock
number. Then I was refrered to the "more highly trained" technical
people. I had to call again while at work and spend 2 hours on the
phone where they again kept using a 6.0 unlock number. I also was
talking to someone not on USA soil. The final conclusion was,
"sorry I can't unlock" and that I should return the software and
buy "Flash instead because it is the same software." Here I became
frustrated. I was astounuded that her was Adobe support and they
could not unlock there own software (I think because they did not
understand the difference between 6.5 and 6.0) and did not even
know there own software (Authorware is not the same as Flash).. I
did not express anger but I felt was reasonable to ask to speak to
a supervisor. A this point I was put on hold for an hour. I hung up
and called back. I did not want to be put on hold. The person was
kind and said thye would take myphone number and the supervisor
would call me back the next day. It is four days later and no one
has called me back. I do not call this good support. I guess the
only alternative is to return the software and not use Adobe
software anymore because they do not support their software.

  • App 5.0 - when will adobe support a deployment?

Currently app 4.6 is only supported for Reader xi (11 versions).... when will Adobe support a 5.0 App-V deployment.  We are not implementing a 4.6 enviroment just for Adobe.
If they could support Adobe Acrobat too, that would be great.
When will they Support Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0 ?

These things are not announced way ahead of time.

  • When will Adobe support the new Canon S100 RAW format in Lightroom (& Camera RAW)?

Just bought a new Canon S100.  It generates RAW files, but Lightroom would not import it as it said it was unsupported.  Any ideas when Adobe will start supporting this new RAW format?

Got mine yesterday and discovered LR and PS didn't recognize the camera.  To make maters worse the Canon software and manuals are on the included disc.  Unfortunately my iMac wouldn't recognize the the disc.  I called Canon and they told me the camera was too new and they couldn't help me. They didn't have another disc they could send me or I couldn't download the software on line.  They told me to check back in a few weeks.  Before I hung up, the rep asked me if there was anything else he could help me with.  All I could do was laugh.

  • Will adobe support a full 16GB of RAM on Windows 7 Home Basic

I have Windows 7 Home Basic, which supports only 8GB of RAM. I've just put in another 8GB without checking this small detail (silly me). So I have a total of 16GB RAM out of which only 8 GB is detected as usable by the OS. My question is will Adobe CC utilise the complete 16 GB of RAM or will it go by the OS spec?

Duothus you can find the system requirements for those software titles at System requirements | Creative Cloud.  Applications such as Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator can only benefit from additional memory being available.

  • When will adobe support the G700 & G500 for GPU accelerated processing?

when i bought my new mac pro trashcan mac told me that their graphics cards were supported so i plunked down my $10k and waited for a month for it to come in the mail.  I was working just fine using what seemed to be GPU acceleration, but then (as you know) it stopped working.
what's going on and when can i expect this to be resolved?  if never, then i need to switch to a pc where i can buy the cards that adobe supports!

Did you happen to have an OSX update that caused the change?

  • When will Adobe support Nikon NRW file format?

    Adobe guys and ladies,
Is there any information that you can add to the dialog shown below that will help me decide if the NRW format used by the Nikon P7000 P&S will be compatible with my >> 10,000 image Lightroom collection?
    thanks,
    WK
    Customer 09/15/2010 11:13 AM
I now shoot topside and underwater (using an Ikelite housing) with a D300S. My work flow is to copy the nef files to Lightroom 3 (for Mac) as dng files for tweaking either in LR3 or occasionally in Photoshop. I'm presently considering a P&S such as the P7000 but I'm concerned that the proprietary nrw format will be a "deal killer". How do I convert nrw files to either raw, nef or dng but not tif? WK
    Response 09/15/2010 10:25 PM
HI Thanks for the question. As with any new model software to convert RAW images will have to be updated for newer models. The Microsoft WIC compatible NRW should easily be read and converted by your software once they update for the newer model. Of course for the best conversion we'd recommend using Nikon Capture NX2. Thanks -David
    Customer 09/16/2010 08:35 AM
Hi, The issue of file incompatibility is of great concern for many potential P7000 buyers. Let me ask the question a bit differently: Can the NRW format used by the P7000 camera be read directly (or converted to NEF or DNG formats) by available Mac software such as Aperture, iPhoto, Adobe Lightroom 3 or Adobe Photoshop 5? thanks, WK
    Response 09/16/2010 08:35 AM
HI Thanks for the update. I'm sorry but you'd have to ask Adobe and Apple about their plans to support the P7000 images. I'd guess based on their support for other RAW format we've produced that they would but since it is their software they would be the ones who could answer. Sorry we can't help more. -David

Of course, Nikon does its best to obfuscate their file formats...
That's a load of CR@P - please cease this continued misinformation.
Even in the earliest days when Nikon encrypted their white balance, it was decryptable via the Nikon SDK (without having to use the rendering feature as well...). Its just that Adobe wasn't using the SDK because the Nikon formats are all based on tif and as such are easy enough for Adobe to deal with without resorting to the SDK that they hadn't bothered. At that time, Thomas Knoll made some off-hand remarks that started a huge wave of misinformation that has been propagated on the internet ever since. In my opinion, he owes Nikon and the photography community an official public apology.
Nikon's purpose in controlling access to the information in NEFs was aimed at quality control, so idiots like me didn't start futzing with their camera data via plugins and fly-by-night applications and smearing Nikon's good name to people who didn't know enough not to blame things on Nikon. In the beginning, Nikon required approval before releasing their SDK to third party vendors. Now, it is available immediately to anyone willing to fill out a form on their website (and it includes complete documentation). Until you, or anybody else claiming this that or the other thing about the accessibility of information in Nikon's camera files, downloads the SDK and plays with it, to see for yourself, you don't know what you are talking about.
The fact that there was a delay between the release of the P6000 and its support in CaptureNX does not prove anything except Nikon was eager to release the camera, and followed up with changes to the SDK and/or CaptureNX after the fact.
I apologize if the tone of this post seems stern, but in my opinion, its time for the misinformation to stop, and the huge body of erroneous information on the internet to begin to be dismantled.
Note: I am not a Nikon defender. I just don't like to see people being unfair to them.

  • Will Adobe support EncoreDVD 2.0 on an AMD system?

If you own an Adobe product, using it on a system with an AMD processor will not (and should not) ever mean a denial of support.
What it means is that Adobe will not pursue the problem if it turns out to be an AMD-specific problem with Adobe software.
All Adobe products in the Digital Video group are expected to work with AMD processors, as long as they have the SSE2 instruction set.

    Hi jjtexas,
    Welcome to the Community!
Updating Acrobat 5 will not install Acrobat X as updates are for that particular version only. It has to be a new installation, yes Acrobat X standard is compatible to run on Windows XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for 64 bit.
    Thanks!

  • Will Adobe support CS4 under OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

Is Adobe expected to support CS4 under OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

I installed Photoshop CS4 after installing snow leopard. PS is crashing when saving JPG files. It is completely repeatable.
I deleted the preferences files and I got it to save the file once. The second time it started to crash again.
The file is a PSD file with several layers it is 4267x1200 pixels.
I then flatten the file and save as ....  JPG
As soon as I click on the JPG quality or OK button photoshop freezes. THIS IS REPEATABLE EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The big lie from Adobe is that they said that CS4 was certified to work with Snow Leopard, it DOES NOT.
I went and spent the $350 for the upgrade to find out that CS4 is just as unstable as CS3 (which actually can still save JPGs
but crashes usually while retouching an image with the brush tool).
My machine is a current iMac24 with plenty of free disk space and 4Gigs RAM
I ran disk tools too. no problems here either. Even if I restart and only run PS it still fails.
Adobe you have to fix this. It is completely unacceptable to tell customers to go buy CS4 and have it NOT WORK.
I have used PS for more than a decade and it has been quite good. you have concentrated on bloatware features, too frequent updates to get more money (greed) at the expense of quality.
I do not believe that you are honestly concerned about quality, just more money for overpriced upgrades.

  • Will Adobe support MCAD layers?

If I create a PDF from a Solid Edge *.dft file (...the "drawing"...) will the PDF include the layers?
    Same question for SolidWorks...
    Thanks.

The 3D format supported in Acrobat 3D is .u3d. This is what is used in the 3D annotation. The Acrobat 3D product converts many different 3D file types into a .u3d file on its way to becoming a 3D annotation inside of Acrobat. The .u3d spec does not support layers in the way I believe you want to use them. It may, and I'm way out on limb here because I don't really know, store or convert this layer data as some kind of metadata, but I don't think that would be useful in this sense.

  • When will Adobe support 6 series Geforce Cards

    Hey there,
I have just bought a 6 series Geforce card, simply because it support 4 monitors and does it well. Does anyone out there know when adobe are going to support these cards, or if they are supported in CS6.
Thanks in advance to any feedback

The the simple addition of "GeForce GTX 680"  (or whatever card you have) to the "cuda_supported_cards.txt" file and Premiere MPE works the best of any card that money can buy!

  • Installation problems - will Adobe support customers?

I am presently installing the trial version of Production Premium on a brand new 64 bit i7 acer.  I really want to buy this software but i see that lots of people are having all kinds of problems downloading their purchases or using them when they are downloaded.  Does Adobe offer enough support once people have paid the big bucks or is it basicly caveat emptor?  I can't afford to buy this package and not be able to use it.  Thanks!

Problem is with Adobe On-line installer of Flash player, which is very buggy and almost always crashes with some error. Please use full Off-line installer of Flash player, download from here:

  • When will Adobe Lightroom support tethering for Nikon D810?

I am wondering when will adobe support Nikon D810. Aperture already supports it...what is holding Adobe to add tethering for D810?

My guess is that Nikon writes the tethering driver for Apple so it is ready very quickly, whereas Adobe has to wait for an SDK then wait for their own resources to finish coding and I imagine it is messy and low priority so it takes a while.

  • Adobe support will boost?

I am following this newsgroup since a couple of weeks.
And I can see there are many questions about feature availability.
Of course Apple banning the CS5 for appstore in April was resulting in a hard stop for the iphone packager development.
That means now CS5 is far behind to be ready to be used.
If I want to use CS5 for building iphone apps is because I want to be faster than using Objective C.
But so far, due to limitation on feature, and honestly to lack of support and examples by Adobe, this is not the case. Yet.
Look at this page: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/packagerforiphone/ that is the main one.
It is supposed to be for developer, isn't it?
Click on the tab "Examples" at the bottom. What do you find? Some links, with broken images, of apps already published on the applestore.
That's certainly something, but not enough. A part the broken image that is an indicator of how much Adobe is taking care of this section of their website, I would expect to have some CODE example!
It's hard to find anything about code example. And very few on Adobe site.
So, what's the hell here? Do I need to drop my upcoming projects and move to Objective C? If the rapid development that CS5 can give me is going to break because of the lack of knowledge and support, I would rather move to Objective C.
    What do you think about?
I know there are some Adobe guys over there that are watching these threads.. So let's express our thoughts and our complains, in a constructive way, to have some answers or to raise some suggestions...

hi, read your post and i have to tell you i wrote a very similar one recently. there was a time when i used to think that adobe support and resources for developers were good. that was until i started going to the apple developer site. then i couldn't afford a mac an ipod touch and the enrollment into the ios program. i did publish a web app with jqtouch and a site however. then i managed to get a copy cs5 another way in which they sell people short since , ok it is how they make money bringing out software every so often, when they do though they forget about the one before and any updates are only for the newest i had bought cs4 only a few months before. big mistake. if you noticed all or almost all the flash iphone apps are games and same foe android. this is because; i think, there is no access to proper interface stuff for flash on ios or android for that matter. apps are then relegated to looking pretty childish almost, and sub-standard wich is not gonna help any in selling any apps because especially on iphone people want the classy app look i want it myself on my ipod touch. to finish off apart from this (the only good thing going would be builder burrito if you look at their max app for android the look is good), however no real resources to develop something like that, i mean dissect an app like that step by step like apple does. there none of that on the adobe site unless you started off years ago in flash rather then web standards there is little chance of learning how to really develop mobile apps, they'll show you how to learn as3.0, but that is not enough, by a long shot since they are chasing apple as it is.  in the end i managed to buy a new mac book an ipod touch and i just got into the program (ios). another universe, not planet. universe. the ide xcode is for free and that is only one part of it but it is amazing. it takes 20 minutes to load up cs4 it takes 1.5 hours to load up apple development environment. interface builder that is how you do it for building interfaces, instruments for testing it will test how many hair a user of your app has in china if you want. now xcode 4 has come out as preview which you can get with membership to their programs (ios, or mac), because now they are launching a mac app store. peace

  • When will Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices support 3D PDF files?

When will Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices support 3D PDF files?

There are two basic varieties of LiveCycle XFA...Static XFA and Dynamic XFA, which are very different in terms of their future for potential support in Adobe Reader for iOS. Which variety of XFA are you using?
Static XFA uses the PDF markup language for content and form fields, so users can view the documents in Adobe Reader for iOS, but we currently do not properly handle filling, saving, and submitting those forms. I have improving our handling of Static XFA on my roadmap, but cannot offer any specific date yet (sorry, policy plus actual uncertainty). I know that there are some other apps that partially support Static XFA, though I do not know how complete their support is. If you can even open the XFA document in Adobe Reader for iOS, it is likely Static XFA.
Dynamic XFA is effectively a JavaScript application packaged inside a PDF wrapper, which generates layout and form fields via code and requires a significant engine to support this. Support for Dynamic XFA is unfortunately not currently on our roadmap for iOS due to the nature of the technology, and our concern that any implementation we try likely will not pass Apple's restriction against installing something that allows other "apps" to be downloaded and executed from within it. The LiveCycle team is exploring solutions for our enterprise customers wanting to use Dynamic XFA from mobile devices as part of their server offering, but I cannot offer any insight here. To my knowledge, there are no applications that handle Dynamic XFA other than Adobe Reader for the desktop platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux).
