Will Airport do this?

Can I use Airport to conncect to the internet off of my moms wireless card on her laptop? Also can I put her card into my Macbook to use for internet? It's a Cingular card and she uses a Dell laptop if that makes any difference.

How would I go about getting wireless for my MacBook?
Are you talking about getting wireless internet wherever you are?
if you are, i have seen at Verizon Wireless cards that you can purchase to get wireless anywhere that supports Mac OSX.
here is the link to all of them.

Apple says that a minimum of iOS 5.0 is required. See the support document below. Look for Requirements on the left hand side of the page about half way down.
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.

  • Will Airport Extreme Network with Panasonic Viera TC-P50ST30

Will Airport Extreme Network work properly with Panasonic Viera TC-P50ST30 HDTV?

I don't have this particular model, but I do have a Panasonic TC-P42GT25 plasma which has no difficulties accessing the Internet through my 4th Gen AirPort Extreme Base Station or 4th Gen Time Capsule.

  • Will airport extreme card work on other wireless systems

will airport extreme card work with other networking systems such as time warner cable with a router?

Note, Airport Extreme on PowerMacs is limited to 802.11g.  If you find you get a router that is 802.11n, and have devices that need 802.11n speed, they should be on a different wireless network.  Otherwise you can set the network to be 802.11n and 802.11g for both 'n' and 'g' devices to hook up to it from the router in question.  Be sure the PowerMac in question does support Extreme, and not just the original Airport by visiting this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1621
And identifying your Mac in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3082
If you can't find your Mac on the article, go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and tell us the Machine ID. If it is a notebook, the name of the machine is on the screen frame. If it is a machine with a display and a built-in optical drive that has no name, it may be an iMac.  That is significant as well.  Since you posted in the PowerMac forum, without telling us your machine, we can't help you further until you do.

  • After updating my Time Capsule, I received this message on my  Airport Express: This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station." How can I fix this?

After updating my Time Capsule, I received this message on my  Airport Express: This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station." How can I fix this?

Per chance is your AirPort Express an 802.11g model? If so, you will need to use AirPort Utility v5.6 to administer it. However, this version will not install under OS X Mountain Lion without a workaround.
The following is one of those workarounds:
Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:
If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
    Run Pacifist.
Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.
You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.

What do you mean "prevents"? What AirPort upgrade did you just apply?
The one Windows computer we have in the house works with a few glitches on 7.6.4. It's running Vista, which is said to be one of the less successful Windows versions.
I can't address Roku. We don't have one of those.
If you explain what symptoms you are seeing, maybe somebody will drop by and recognize them. Starting over with a more specific posting title might help also.

Hi - sorry but this is a user to user forum - we have no idea what Apple has planned for their products - you would have to contact them directly to ask questions about that -

  • Will airport & Netgear work together?

Our Comcast provided Netgear wireless router is WGR614V8. It worked great when my desktop was on the same floor/same room w. the router. But we've created an office in the basement (talking ranch house here) and the estimated horizontal distance between router and computer is about 40 feet. Now we experience weak signal strength and really slow internet speeds. Called Netgear, they changed the channel with not much improvement in the basement. (My daughter uses her laptop on the same floor as the router and continues to enjoy fast connection speeds.) On second call back, I was referred to Comcast. Comcast tech suggested rotating the router. Did so, even put it on the floor, no improvement. Alternatively, the tech proposed that I run an ethernet cable from the back of the router to the basement and hook it into my old Airport Extreme router (M8799LL/A, Model # A1034) to boost the signal. Before we start drilling holes in the wall or floor, will Airport & Netgear play together nicely or will there be conflicts? Any other suggestions? Please keep in mind you are talking to layperson. Thanks for the help.

Does this mean that in either scenario, if I use the Airport, it must be directly connected to the computers in the basement as opposed to operating in wireless mode there?
no, sorry. i should have been clearer: i meant to say that you might not be able to connect the netgear and extreme wirelessly, i.e. you would use either an ethernet cable or powerline adapters to connect the devices.
however, i could be wrong because i found this post in the airport forum:

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your Clear Spot router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
The few that are known to work are:
    o Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not v5)
    o Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    o BT Voyager 2091
    o *Netgear WGR614 v6*
    o Buffalo WGR-G54
so, give it a shot. you can always go for the hardwired connection if it doesn't work.

  • Will airport express work with 3G wirelessly without access to Y Fi connection ? (usinmg an iPad )

I do not have wi Fi at work. Will airport express work with just the 3G on my Ipad2?

In addition to Keith's comments, if you are asking if the iPad can configure an Apple router like the AirPort Express, the answer would be yes, if you download and install AirPort Utility from the App Store. It's free.
I'm assuming that you have a newer version of the Express. Check the Model No on the side of the device. It needs to be A1264.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airport-utility/id427276530
if you do not have an Ethernet Internet connection to connect to the Ethernet port on the Express,  you can still use the Express to "Create a wireless network", but of course devices will not be able to connect to the Internet. The Express will complain, but you can ignore the error messages.
If your printer is wireless, hopefully it is an AirPrint compatible printer. Then you would be able to print from the iPad.  Check this Apple Support document for information about compatible printers. There might be other applications that would allow this as well. Check Keith's post for that info.

I'm still not clear on exactly what you are trying to do, and devices that you have, so if you can state your goals again....we can make sure that we are not missing something.

  • My mac will not open this specific website.

Ok so I enjoy playing this game called rigs of rods. Very entertaining. Anyway all of a sudden my mac will not open this website no matter what I do. Every time it just times out and says can't connect to server. I know it isn't the website because I can access it on my phone over 4g and over the same wifi network that my mac is on. I have reset safari and logged into the guest account and it still wont work. The only way I have gotten the site to work was by using a IP blocker or booting into safe mode and using safari. I have tried to use 3 different browsers and none will work. I'm almost for sure it has to do with my network settings but I cant figure it out. Help would be greatly appreciated as this is getting very frustrating.

Since you're running Lion, just try a new system install - it won't affect your data or apps, but you should, anyway, have a backup regardless.
Boot to your Recovery partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting. At the Recovery window, first repair permissions again, then verify and, if necessary, repair your hard drive. Then quite Disk Utility and elect to reinstall the OS anew - it will only overwrite system files and the like, not touching your data, apps, etc. It may take awhile to complete.
After completion, reboot and see if the problem still exists. If it does, I'm just at a loss...

  • HT1296 I have not connected my iPad to a pc yet and it has my songs on it that are on iTunes, will I lose this if I plug it onto a PC?

I have not connected my iPad to a pc yet and it has my songs on it that are on iTunes, will I lose this if I plug it onto a PC?

Since you have never plugged the iPad into your computer's iTunes yet - you are syncing to a "new" computer so .... Yes you will lose the music if you sync it with iTunes before making this your syncing computer.
But ..... You can transfer all of the iPad content into iTunes and that will make the iTunes library your new syncing library. Just follow all of the steps in this user tip and you will be OK. Then you will be able sync without losing anything.

I will type in google let say tree the search will click on to one of the searches and instead of tree web page showing up a ad page will come up this happens with very thing can you help.

You (or your kids) inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it.
Any tips on how to stop it from happening?
Yes. To learn how to avoid it in the future read How to install adware.
If you require them, Apple's removal instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.
