Will Airport Express work for this?

Hi. I've got multiple Macs, but only my 2 laptops are wireless. I've currently got an Airport Express hooked up to my router which supplies the laptops with their connection. I would like to stream my iTunes - which resides on an external drive connected to my 17" FP iMac - to my stereo system in a different room.
Now...if I pick up another Airport Express, will the fact that the iMac that the iTunes is set up is not wireless and instead basically physically connected to the main Epress cause a problem with it being recognised? I can see that one in Airport Utilitiy as it stands now. Or would I also have to get an Airport card for the iMac for it to see the second Express? I don't feel like paying $100 to find out that it won't work or this setup and all I've really done is extend the range of my network, which is not a problem.

No it will not cause a problem.

In addition to Keith's comments, if you are asking if the iPad can configure an Apple router like the AirPort Express, the answer would be yes, if you download and install AirPort Utility from the App Store. It's free.
I'm assuming that you have a newer version of the Express. Check the Model No on the side of the device. It needs to be A1264.

if you do not have an Ethernet Internet connection to connect to the Ethernet port on the Express, you can still use the Express to "Create a wireless network", but of course devices will not be able to connect to the Internet. The Express will complain, but you can ignore the error messages.
If your printer is wireless, hopefully it is an AirPrint compatible printer. Then you would be able to print from the iPad. Check this Apple Support document for information about compatible printers. There might be other applications that would allow this as well. Check Keith's post for that info.

Will Airport express work with tivo

I would like to get program content up dates through my airport express. i get itunes to my stereo no problems. Can I get program content the same way. I only airport in my imac. thanks for help with this issue.

In the back of the Tivo you have a USB port, which you can hook up either a USB wi-fi dongle or a USB to Ethernet convertor.
Price wise, you are probably just as well off getting a USB wi-fi dongle, as the adapters aren't that cheap, and you have some flexibility of where you put your Tivo.
Also if I remember correctly, you have to have the AE operating in WDS to enable the Ethernet port, i.e. you need a second AE or an Airport Extreme (Or one of a few other routers that run WDS).

I have a MACPRO, LION (10.7.2).
It used to work with an airport express.
My iphone works with the express, my wfie's macpro works with it, but mine seems to have quit
recognizing it as something with which to play music, so the option to select airport express
in itunes no longer is there.

I'd first try cycling power on the AirPort Express. If that doesn't help, it might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved, recognizing that, depending on your problem, not all of these steps will make sense:
1) Use the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu bar item to turn AirPort/Wi-Fi off, then on again.
2) Try to select your Wi-Fi network from the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu.
3) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort/Wi-Fi item from the left column, then add it back.
4) In the same panel as (3), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
5) In the same panel, select the AirPort/Wi-Fi connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease". Note that the fix this step implements may be temporary.
6) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( _not_ <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
These steps may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, if you have any special network settings on your Mac for things like DSL credentials, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them. If you got all the way to the last step, if things don't work any worse than before, you can trash the saved SystemConfiguration folder.

HT1515 Will Airport Express work in hotels in China? They require user name/password to connect. Has anyone used one there?

I will be traveling in China with my iPad2 and want to use hotel wireless. It requires a sign-in with user name/password. Can I use an Airport Express for this purpose? How do I set it up for that? I have an old Express (pre-2007); can I use it or do I need to upgrade to the new model?

OK - I have never been to China but the posts here say that it can be done - the cable from the hotel should be connected to the WAN port of the Express - the Express should be in bridge mode and set to create a wireless network with a name and password of your choice - you can do this with a computer before you leave for China or with the iPad if you have previously downloaded the Airport Utility app - you would then connect to your network and attempt to bring up a web page such as Google - the hotel should then intervene and ask you for the login info that they have provided.

Airport Express working for 15 mins - Tops!

FACTS:
I have a G5, Dual 1.8, running 10.4.7.
I have Airport Extreme Card and Airport Express (running most current firmware), purchased 1 year ago.
Connecting using Toshiba Cable Modem PCX2200 thorugh Time Warner Cable in New York City.
According to iStumbler, I have 23 possible networks in my range.
Currently, I have set my setting to factory default to "try" and maintain connection.
PROBLEM:
Everytime I try to personalize my settings, AE craps out (starts flasing yellow) anywhere from 10 - 15 mins. I've hard reset and factory defaulted reset at least 5 times in the past two weeks. I "think" this all started after I upgraded to 10.4.7.
I've read mult. posts about people being able to overcome their "issues" by setting interference robustness and changing their channels. According to iStumbler, everyone else in my range is running channel 11, 2, 8 or 6, so I have tried setting 4, 10 and automatic... but nothing seems to be solving WHY my AE continually starts flashing yellow.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than what is suggested in the Aiport/AE help pages?

Lenn - Yes, I have weekly software updates scheduled....
It seems as though if I wait a while, my connection remains stable. FOr the past 1.5 hours, I have been watching TV and my indicator light has remained stable and green until I came on to check my mail and update my website. It's, again, not working. I'm posting this by connecting to someone else's wireless connection.
Does anyone else have an idea?

I just found a working iMac G4 on Craigslist, and I am considering it as computer for my aunt. It is an 800Mhz with 512Mb ram. It has 10.2.8 on it, but I'm planning on installing Tiger. I have A 1GB set of ram from an iMac DV, which I'm almost certain will work on this model. She has a digital camera and wants to use iPhoto for the pictures. She also wants to be able to use their DSL connection to get on the web and check e-mail. What I really want to know is, will iPhoto '08 run smoothly with 800Mhz and 1GB of ram? will it be able to play videos on YouTube without freezing? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

The iLife versions have limitations on what they will work in;
given that iDVD and iMovie presupposes you have certain
hardware in place and a bus speed of a fast enough rate
to support this software set. iLife 06 may be fine enough.
There is some information on hardware and software in
MacTracker; your RAM information appears essentially
correct to a point, There may be faster (in rated n/s) speed
PC133 chips. I recall some of the older ones also had a
rating of 2-2-2, or 2-3-3, etc that meant speed. In the older
iMac400DV I had, matching RAM of high spec helped.
Some of the non-supported items, even in an earlier version
of iLife, won't be installed if the hardware is not available.
With Tiger 10.4.11 installed, the limits would be in bus speed,
available RAM, free space on hard disk drive for Virtual Memory;
and a few other bottlenecks. A CDRW drive omits iDVD unless an
external FW unit could be adapted for use.
There should be some specifications listed for old versions of iLife
or their component software parts, in the Support database. I had
been looking for a suitable version of iLife for use in iMac G4 1.25
computers since the bits I have are from Panther via upgrade. And
one of my computers has the correct iLife stuff for Tiger's era. If I
edit images in iPhoto in one, they may act differently in the other.
{So, having an installer for iLife versions is handy and saves wondering
what will work; and you can update from one to the other if a newer one
appears to be capable of working in that older iMac G4 800. I just gave
away a nice iMac G4 17" 800 with superdrive, 80GB HDD, AirPort, Tiger,
speakers and a few other nearly new accessories. Didn't have iLife...}

Airport express works for a few minutes then orange flashing light

I was given an Airport Express as a Christmas gift to stream music to my stereo whilst in the same room. I configured the AX as per the instructions. A green light showed and streaming worked fine for a couple of minutes before cutting out and the light flashing orange.
I reset the AX and tried reconfiguring but I had the same problem. I also tried configuring via ethernet but the same problem occurred again. I don't think it's a bandwidth or signal issue, as although I am a couple of rooms away from the router, my Macbook shows full signal in the same location as the AX.
If it helps I am using a Netgear WGR614 router with WPA personal security. I hope somebody can help.

The "bars" really don't give you an accurate picture of the signal strength, and they tell you nothing about noise.
You might want to download a utility like iStumbler to get a different look at your network and also identify other wireless networks around you that may be contributing to the Wireless Interference that is likely causing your problems.

Airport Express: Works for a while then drops

I have an Airport Express extending my Time Capsule base station. I've moved it out to the garage, and it works pretty decently even though it's pretty far away from the base station.
But in order to get it working, I have to unplug/replug to get it to connect. It lasts fine for the few hours I'm around it. But the next day when I return, it has dropped completely and the yellow light starts flashing. Unplugging/replugging resets it and it connects back up fine.
Any idea what's going on?

It appears likely that the Express is too far away from the TC to receive a reliable signal. See if you can relocate it so that it has a clear line of sight to the TC.

Will digital signature work for this?

I've never done this before and wonder if it will work.
I'm using Acrobat 9 pro extended. I'm creating and sending a Copyright Agreement pdf file that has to be signed by me and the client. Using the form editing mode I can put digital signature fields. Then back in regular editing mode when I click on a field, it brings the Sign Document dialog with my name already selected and choosing Sign puts my digital signature. I can't remember what I've done previously for my name to be available but I remember signing digitally pdf documents in the past. I don't know if my client has previously signed PDFs but I would like this to be as smooth as possible and assuming the worst case scenario, I wonder if they will be able to sign it, what eventual troubles they may have, and what instructions should I give them along with the pdf?

To follow up on my original post, using Acrobat 9, I opened an empty pdf document, added a signature field, saved and closed. Then to test the user experience of my client, I opened it in the latest version of Acrobat reader. Mouse over the signature filed shows tooltip "Unsigned signature filed, (Click to sign)". Clicking however doesn't produce anything. I looked at the menus and buttons and the most relevant thing I found was the button with the tooltip "Sign, add text,or send the document for signature" Clicking this button opens a pane on the right side with all of its options grayed out and the only thing that can be used is a link to the EchoSign website listed as Powered by Adobe EchoSign.
If this is going to be my client experience, I'm afraid that my client may not have nether the patience nor the time to figure out how to sign the contract. I hope that I have missed something obvious that makes signing really quick and effortless.
Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Airport express works for 1 minute then stops

I came back from vacation. restarted my mac mini + airport express + ...
Internet worked for 1 minute then stopped. I unplugged cable modem + airport. Restarted them. Internet worked for 1 minute the stopped. After it stopped working the light on the airport express stayed green. Computer was still connected with a strong signal.
I plugged the ethernet cable into mac and internet worked fine without issue.
I did a hard reset of airport express and had same issue as above.
Is my airport express shot? Why does it only work for 1 minute or so and then stop?

After waiting a few days, plugged in airport to try one more time and it now works fine. Not sure what the problem was, but it has had no issues since letting it stay unplugged for a few days.

Yes, that sounds plausible. However, with an the extra overhead required to maintain an extended network, you may not have sufficient bandwidth for VoIP and voice quality may become an issue. Although it is worth trying out I would think.

You are posting on the Photoshop Elements forum. But to address your question:
It depends what you want visitors to experience. Using PremEl you woul dbe creating a video, in effect, that they'd need to download. Using PSE you could create a downloadable PDF slideshow or [better IMHO] an HTML photo gallery.
You can download 30 day try-outs of both programs.
