Will airport work with direct tv genie?

I cannot get direct tv Genie to work wirelessly with my airport base station. Wireless works fine with macbook pro, ipad, and cell phone but not with direct tv genie.  Anybody have any ideas?

No, not directly. If they offer an IOS app you may be able to use airplay to stream content

I have purchased a Epson Workforce 435, can't AirPrint, will this work with the first gen iPad?

Also i forgot to add after a night of searching how to turn the Epson Workforce 435 printer into Airprint friendly and not iPrint (which are 2 completely different things) i donwloaded a program called (AirPrint Activator) from HandyPrint. The link is below to download the software. Once i installed the application i set my printer to be shared over my Home Network (Wi-Fi Network). Once you have done that, open the AirPrint Activator application you have just downloaded, swtich it ON from OFF mode, and then you should easily see your printer name in my case EPSON Workforce 435 and then just close the application. Then go to your IOS Device like your iphone/ipad/ipod touch select a picture that you want to test print or even an attached PDF from your email, and select Print in the share button. You will then be prompted to select your printer. Your printer you automatically be recongised then just select print. And now you have a complete AirPrint ready printer with a Printer that doesnt even support the function. Im sure you can do this to all Wireless Printers, even if they came out before Apple AirPrint service launch.
And also if you still need guidance and a video to follow from just click the Youtube link below
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r75m_VUr0E
    Download AirPrint Activator Link

I hope that this helps your question and enjoy your day

  • Will Airport work with Sprint Airave?

I have read this will not work together. I think i need a new router, and want to switch to airport. But have heard that might not work with airave, which is crucial for my cell reception at home.

I don't know, my AiRave has been crashing alot, and now the Airport Express is crashing at the same time.  Green light remains on, ID broadcast is interrupted.
I don't know why.  Very frustrating.

  • Will Airport work with WildBlue?

Will the Airport (any version) work with WildBlue satellite internet service? We have 2 Macs and 2 PCs in the house. Does each computer need the WildBlue software installed? Wireless is voodoo to me...

They say it does. The Mac system requirement is basically Tiger or better. You do not need any client software installed.
    WildBlue FAQ
They do say you are "required to have an up-to-date antivirus software installed on your PC". I would infer that statement applies to PCs and not Macs.
I'd be interested to hear about your experience with Wildblue. I ruled out both Hugenet and WB some time ago due to lukewarm user reviews. I concluded dialup is cheaper and more reliable.

  • Will AirPort work with my current wireless router?

I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I'm thinking about getting two AirPort Expresses for AirTunes. But I wanna know that if I get one AirPort Express in my room with my stereo, and my wireless router to my computer with iTunes, if AirTunes will work. Has anyone tried this? Thanks!

The answer is yes. Quoting the Airport Express FAQ:
Question: If my computer is associated with a non-Apple wireless access point, can iTunes send an AirTunes stream to the AirPort Express?
Answer: Yes, if AirPort Express has joined the network in client mode, or if it is connected via wire to a LAN port on the non-Apple wireless access point.

  • Accessory not supported by ipad - ipad2 HDMI connector will not work with ipad (4th gen)

I am a bit frustrated with the fact that I purchased all of the adapters/connectors for my iPad 2 back in the day -  and now all are pretty much worthless with the iPad (4th gen.)
The iPad g4 uses the new lightning connector. OK. So, I bought the updated adapter (lightning to 30 pin). HOWEVER, it does not allow the Apple HDMI connector to work... "This accessory is not supported by iPad"
I have to buy yet ANOTHER adapter: the Lightning Digital AV Adapter, and drop $49.00???
    RIDICULOUS!

  • Will airport work with a simple USB wireless adapter?

I'm considering setting my folks up with one or maybe two airports for wireless audio through their house. They don't have any wireless gear at the moment. Will it be ok to buy a cheap USB wireless adapter for their PC to transmit to the airports?
    I'm considering this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/107691
My worry is that it might not send a strong enough signal. What do you reckon?
    thanks!

I don't have first-hand knowledge of this particular USB wireless adapter, but it should be compatible with the AirPort base stations, as it is 802.11b/g-compliant and supports both WEP & WPA encryption.

  • Help! Will airport work with my laptop

My laptop is Powerbook G3 233 MHZ M4753 it has the system files from the airport card. But everytime I search on ebay for one they all look like the wrong one

    Karl,
Possibly we do not have enough information. When you say it will not fit, are you referring to the PCMCIA card slot on the left edge of the powerbook? If you have tried to push a PC card into the slot and it does not slide in, possibly the card slot is locked...this can happen.
Open a paperclip and push it into the little hole next to the slot (the slot has a spring-loaded cover). If you push firmly enough, you will hear the lock disengage IF it is locked. Inserting a PC card requires extra effort as you reach the locking mechanism; you may want to hold the opposite end of the powerbook as you push the card in...you will hear it lock.

  • I have a Sony Sa ns300, will it work with airport express to allow me to play iTunes in another room?

Not from the iPad, but you can from a computer.

  • Time Machine will NOT work with Airport Disks!

It looks like Time Machine will not work with Airport Disks after all. All references to Airport have been removed from the Time Machine page:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/timemachine.html
It also specifically says: "You can designate just about any HFS+ formatted FireWire or USB drive connected to a Mac as a Time Machine backup drive. Time Machine can also back up to another Mac running Leopard with Personal File Sharing, Leopard Server, or Xsan storage devices."
Surely, they would have included the Airport Extreme Base Station in this list if it was supported.
I really hope there will be another firmware update for the AEBS which will bring compatibility with Time Machine, because Time Machine was the only reason for me to buy an AEBS. (I only use it as a small backup server, I don't even have wireless networking enabled. There were other solutions, e.g. from Synology, which are faster and more reliable than AEBS disk sharing, but Synology stated their network drives would not be compatible with Time Machine.)

Here's how you can potentially use your AirDisk with TimeMachine (beware that YMMV), but it should work as it works with every other "unsupported" device.
    1) Mount your AirDisk so it appears on your Mac
    2) Open Terminal.app
    3) change directories to the AirDisk's root folder located in "/Volumes"
    ie: cd "/Volumes/AirDisk Name"
    4) execute this command to "bless" the drive to be used with time machine:
    touch .com.apple.timemachine.supported
    5) Start TimeMachine and if all went well, it should recognize your AirDisk drive and use it for TM.
This should also work on NFS shares, SMB shares, AFP shares, basically anything. It has worked up until the last developer seed, so unless they yanked this at the last minute, it should still work.
Now, the reason why Apple removed this feature may be due to the unreliability of the AirDisk, so be cautious.

  • Will podcasts work with my ipod nano 2nd gen

will podcasts work with my ipod nano?

Audio: yes, assuming they are in a format iPod supports such as mp3, .aac, etc. Audio podcasts that you subscribe to through the iTunes Store should be no problem. Video: no.

I had a repair done on my MacBook Pro and had to have a new hard drive installed. The Apple Auth Repair Shop then updated the OS from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. Now my iPhoto v 9.2.3 will not open and it sounds like it will not work with this OS. Can you please advise?

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • ITunes will not work with my computer.  iMac G3 processor, OS 10.4.11

Original message posted about a week ago - I have an iMac, OS is 10.4.11. I just updated my Quicktime software to 7.5, I also updated my iTunes to 8.2.1 (I think, it is definitely higher than 8.0). When I would open up iTunes. I would get this message. (We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later). This was happening before I did the current downloads. I had no trouble about 3-4 weeks ago. I was able to get into the iTunes store and download song. I am pretty annoyed to say the least. Apple makes it so difficult to get information, unless you do endless searches. Trying to contact customer service is a whole other nightmare. They offer this software for free, yet they want you to pay for everything. As you can imagine, I am not happy and venting is helping. So I am hoping there are some other people out there with similar problems who can help. Nothing has been changed or altered on my computer. I have no problem connecting to the internet. No passwords or ID's have been changed. As mentioned I updated my software to the highest, most current software available that my operating system can handle. So if anyone out there knows what is going on, or can help. Please advise. Thanks, from a very frustrated apple user! You can email me direct too <[email protected]>
Updated message 12/9/10 - I updated my iTunes version to 9.2.1. Now my iTunes will not open. When I do try to open it, It says that this program will only work with G4, and G5 processors. I don't know what to do. I can't afford a new computer right now. Any suggestions???? PLEASE HELP!!I am so frustrated!!! Thanks for your help.

OK - to answer my own question, Apple recommend 8.2.1, but you can install 9.1.1 and it will run on a G3. Very slowly. Looks like this is the only option. Get it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1036. You need OSX 10.4.11 or later though....

  • Will Hotmail work with Mail on 3GS?

    Hi,
I've had the 1st Gen iPhone from launch and have been signed up for IzyMail for the last 2 years to make Hotmail sync with the Mail App. I read a while back that Hotmail now works with the Mail App without the need for any subscriptions but I carried on using IzyMail since i'd already paid for it.
I've just cancelled my IzyMail subscription and would like to know if Hotmail will indeed work with the Mail App or will I need to look for yet another host? The Izymail subscription will not end until mid June and I am planning on upgrading to the new iPhone 3GS.
Will I be faced with any problems when initially setting up my new iPhone?

Got it all sorted. Deleted my IzyMail settings and set up Hotmail using some in & out server addresses that I found via Google.
