Will all my music etc. be deleted if I remove itunes and reinstall again?

I created a new user and shared docs especially itunes, but some reason it deleted all the music from my home user itunes and all of it went to the other user. But to make my story short I have double files and I don't have a lot of disk space anymore. Also, my itunes is really acting up that I am unable to burn discs, etc through itunes. All my music is in my My Music file in the c drive. If I remove itunes and reinstall will my music be corrupted in any way? Please advise anyone?????

Reinstalling iTunes does not affect your music.

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • TS5376 After following all the instructions to remove itunes and reinstall I am still unable to download Itunes setup

I have followed all the instructions for uninstalling all the componets of Itunes in order to reinstall Itunes but I am still unable to download Itunes installer or setup.  How do I fix this issue?

I couldn't download from the normal download link provided (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/), but I searched the internet and found this link from apple support that worked for me to download  iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit):  http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1615

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall does not touch your content. That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a backup in case of disasters.

Your media should be safe, though you should backup routinely anyway.

  • Will all my music be deleted if I remove itunes from my computer?

I had problems with an Ipod shuffle, so I took it back. But before I did my itunes started acting up. Now some of my songs and playlists dissapeared, but they are all in my music folder. Now I can't burn any cds and I have double files of itunes and music. Will all my music delete if I remove itunes completely and reinstall it again? Please advise anyone.

I'm not sure if this will help you any, but i had my itunes deleted from my computer the other day. When i re-installed it (about 30 mins ago) and plugged in my i-pod my library loaded, no problems.
I suppose so long as your music is saved to the hard-drive deleting the program that plays it and re-installing it shouldnt be a problem.

  • When I update to IOS 7 will all my music be deleted

When I update to IOS 7 will all my music contacts photos ect... Be deleted

If you update when iOS 7 is available in the fall:
    - If you update via Settings>General>Software update nothing will be lost unless there is a glitch. They happen sometimes. Therefore, make sure all your media is backed up and yo have an iPod backup

  • My ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall. will this erase all of my music?

my ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall it.  will this erase all of my music?

    Hi braddyloopy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes,  your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.
If you'd like to locate your music, this article explains how to find the files:
Where are my iTunes files located?

When you reinstall iTunes, I'd recommend using the method in this article to make sure it's reinstalled completely:

  • I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded?

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • I have a new iMac running iTunes 10.4 in OS 10.6.8, and a new Mac Air running iTunes 10.4 in Lion.  I was able to transfer all my music etc. from the iMac onto the Air, but cannot figure out how to get the Playlists from the iMac to the Air.  iTunes Help

I have a new iMac running iTunes 10.4 in OS 10.6.8, and a new Mac Air running iTunes 10.4 in Lion.  I was able to transfer all my music etc. from the iMac onto the Air, but cannot figure out how to get the Playlists from the iMac to the Air.  iTunes Help says File >Library >Export playlist and choose XML, or to save a copy of all your playlists, File > Library > Export Library, "the Exported info is saved in XML format."  Then it says, "to import an iTunes playlist, File > Library > Import Playlist".  Now I am assuming I do that import part on the Air, but when I try it doesn't recognize anything that can be imported - what am I missing??? Aside from a clue...

Thanks, Jim, for taking the time, but the reply is unfortunately vague in the exact area of my confusion!  "you need to copy that file to your new computer..."  Well, the Import/Export instructions make it seem as if the two computers should be able to communicate this file thru wifi, but that's the linkage I can't seem tocreate with Import/Export.  Should I instead email a copy to myself (thats what applecare suggested)?  Copy it to and from a thumb drive?  But then place the file where?  And the article was helpful, but should I be trying to move the Library file or the Library.xml file (as iTunes Help suggests)?  Sorry to be so clueless about it...I suppose I buy Apple in the hopes of not having to think about this stuff, which approach seems not to be serving me well. Thanks again for your time!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list
