Will All Types of Windows Apps Run With BootCamp?

I am fed up with the quality of Windows hardware and computers and am considering the purchase of a MacBook Pro to use with both operating systems. I am a long time user and developer on both OSX and Windows. My question is, can I expect programs such as Microsoft Visual Studio with all of its add-ins and other development software to work correctly running Windows 7 on the Intel Mac? I have heard horror stories about using Parallels and I don't mind rebooting to change operating systems, but I also don't have the time to deal with any additional issues other than what I am going to face anyway with these programs running in native windows. Will they run on the Mac as well as they run on a Windows box?

Graphic drivers are often a pain to install, and some Windows updates have been tricky or not worked.... .NET Framework update was one such.
Yes, "it should" but due diligence, backups, and I would say the same for Mac or any OS.

    Hi Drgeert-
The hub may not be broken per se, but Apple has made adjustments to the limits on current that can be drawn from ports.
You probably need a new hub.

  • Will all of the CS4 programs work with Terminal Services?

I think the title sums up my question...
Will all of the CS4 programs work with Terminal Services?

You should be able to solve that problem.
MiFis have a default power setting on them that turns off the device after XX minutes of no use (As determined by the MiFi).  You can find and modify this setting in the MiFi Admin webpage.  It should be under the advanced area and can be configured to leave the MiFi on all the time.
That being said, no MiFi model will behave very well as an always on home internet replacement device.  Dedicated home cable routers and modems will always perform better, they are designed for that scenario.  By comparison MiFis are designed to be light weight travel devices, they simply do not have the hardware necessary to be left online all day long with acceptable results.  MiFis are more appropriate as a backup, mobile or temporary internet solution.
If you are looking for a home internet always on internet connection device you would be safer going with stronger hardware like a USB Modem+CradlePoint router, the VZW 4G LTE router or VZW HomeFusion.  Any of those devices are going to provide you with a better experience for your home than the MiFis without additional equiptment like boosters and antennas.  Some CradlePoint routers can be expensive but perform very well, the 4G LTE router has mixed review and the nice thing about HomeFusion is the special data plan and high powered equiptment.

  • Will Windows Vista work with Bootcamp 3.0.4 (325)?

Will Windows Vista work with Bootcamp 3.0.4 (325)?  the documentation says that I need a Win 7 installation disc.  I don't want windows 7; I want Windows Vista.
How do I install the drivers?

You don't provide any info regarding your computer but Vista is not supported by the newer Apple computers: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4410
You could use a VM like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox to install Vista.

WIndows can't find a better one than the installed LSI Conformed 1394 Hostcontroller

Read and follow the Bootcamp Installation instructions that you were offered to view when you ran Bootcamp Assistant.
Run Bootcamp Assistant again and select the option to download the Bootcamp Support software. Follow the instructions. Then boot into Windows and install the Windows Support software you downloaded and saved.

Go back and reread and open the application you used.
though most Mac Pro owners choose to dedicate a drive to Windows.
Even Disk Utility will remove and then stretch the adjoining partiton it is best to use Boot Camp Assistant.

  • Can I install Windows XP SP1 with Bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011 i7 ?

Can I install Windows XP SP1 with Bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011 i7 ?

Baiscally if your Mini came with Lion Pre-installed new then No you can't use XP.
The Lion installed computers no longer support XP OR Vista via Apple's Boot Camp.
For one thing Apple only supported XP with SP2 in order to install it on pre Lion computers.
If the Mini had come pre-installed new with say 10.6 then you could have installed XP and still of been able to upgrade to Lion without any issues as you already have the drivers for XP installed. Lion only has the drivers for W7.

As your MBP has an optical drive you must install from a disc, not an iso on a stick. The previous advice is incorrect.
Purchase the version of Windows you want on a disk. If you already bought an iso burn it to a disc.

  • Will a DSP version of Windows XP work with Bootcamp?

Hi all. I am a semi-recent Mac convert. I have used Windows-based computers my entire life. I am an engineer and I use a lot of 3D modelling and FEA-analysis-type programs, all of which require a powerful computer and all of which are Windows-based. I bought a MacBook Pro with Tiger a couple months ago and will never go back to a PC for regular everyday computing. Very wonderful machine and well worth the money. I only wish now that I had waited for Leopard to come out so I would already have Bootcamp.
I now would like to upgrade to Leopard in order to get Bootcamp so I can set up a partition for XP. I realize that this requires a purchase of a full version of Windows and OS 10.5. I would like to purchase a full DSP version of XP Professional, since it is generally less expensive than OEM and has unlimited installation capability, rather than just a single license. DSP, from what I understand is supposed to be identical to the OEM version, minus a manual, a box, and tech support. I don't forsee a problem installing this on my Mac with Bootcamp, but I wanted to know if there's anyone else out there who has tried this and succeeded/failed at it before I start messing with my system. Remember, this is a full version of XP Professional that I'm referring to...it's just that it's a DSP version with a volume license, rather than OEM, with a single license. Thanks!

    James Bond 007,
Alright cool. Thanks for your help. My only prior experience with any operating system was with Windows. Buying a Mac has certainly shown me that I don't have to deal with regular system freezes and crashes as I did with Windows.
    Barlsaxshorty,
OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer". OEM versions are usually what comes preinstalled on a new computer. Like DSP (Delivery Service Partner) versions, they don't come with a box, a printed manual, and usually no tech support or rebates. This means the software can be sold for much much cheaper than retail versions.
As per James Bond 007's response, you will be able to install an OEM FULL version just fine. A full version means that you are installing a particular type of operating system (such as Windows) for the first time. An upgrade is only for owners of previous versions of that software line. For example, someone with Windows 2000 currently could buy an UPGRADE to Windows XP at a significantly lower price, which only includes those resources necessary to make the upgrade that the previous version didn't contain. A FULL version of Windows XP is what would be installed on a computer that did not previously have a version of Windows on it, such as a Mac. In order to run Mac OS 10.5 AND Windows XP through Bootcamp, you will need to purchase a FULL version, whether it's a retail, OEM, or DSP version.

    No.
Reset is very similar to rebooting your computer.
Restore will erase everything as will erase all content and settings
