Will an Apple 12W Power adapter damage an iTouch 5?

I am planning to buy a 12W Power Adapter for my itouch 5 but Im afraid that it will damage it since it's for iPads and iPhones/iPods can work with 5W power adapter.

Apple says it is compatible
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD836LL/A/apple-12w-usb-power-adapter?fnode=3cI sometimes use my 12 watt charger for all my devices and it is fine. The iPod limits the current/power so it does not damage the device

  • Will USA Apple Firewire power adapter cope with 240 volts?

Hi, just bought an Apple OEM firewire power adapter, see here
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330275832822&ssPageName=ADME: B:EOIBSA:US:1123
Anyone know if this will this work without a voltage convertor in UK & Europe?
    It's for an iPod mini.
I know one can charge by connecting to computer but it's more convenient to plug into the wall.
    Thanks for any help.

Oh yes, thankyou for clarifying my mind on that.
I also bought a syncing firewire cable from the same place while I was at it so she should just need one cable then to do both charging & syncing as long as the firewire works abroad.
I'll inspect it when it comes & if in doubt we could leave the firewire power adaptor here for when she's in US & get a USB power adapter in UK for there & Europe.
Or I could sell the firewire power adapter to keep things simple.
    Thanks a lot Chris.
In case anyone has any experience using the firewire power adapter abroad I'd be interested.
    Thanks.

  • Will charging my iPhone 4S with iPad 4th generation 12w power adapter, ruin my battery?

Situation: my iPhone 4S is 4 months old, have had ZERO issues with battery life, until yesterday...
I just bought the newest iPad last week (retina display) and yesterday I plugged the iPhone 4s usb cable into the iPad 12w power adapter, to charge my 4s. Now my iPhone 4S is losing 1% every 4-5 minutes (not exaggerating, in fact it may be draining even faster than that). This is occurring even though all programs are closed and the phone is locked (screen is black)... Normally my battery will lose 5-10% while I sleep, last night it was dead within 5 hours !
I'm pretty disappointed becuz it seems I have ruined the battery. Can anyone think of any other reason for this to be happening?
In an attempt to rule out any software issues or potential malware, I backed up my 4s, put it in recovery mode and proceeded with a factory restore. Following that I restored from backup. To my dismay the freefall battery drainage is continuing :(
What are my options (if any) apart from heading over to apple store tomorrow to get bent over a barrel? Any help would be appreciated ....
Many thanks and happy holidays !

Okay it's been 15 minutes and battery is still at 100%.
I have ton of apps and music as well as photos etc... I'm using 58Gb. So getting my stuff back on is a top priority. The only thing I did on the 24th (day the problem started) that I can think of, was register with talkatone (googles VoIP App). I'm thinking I delete that App from iTunes before restoring from backup?
    Your help is much appreciated!

  • Apple FireWire Power Adapter and iPod Classic

I just looked through the user guide, and it doesn't mention anything positive or negative about using the Apple FireWire Power Adapter that came with my 3G iPod. Any chance I'm going to fry my new iPod if I try charging it with the Firewire Power Adapter?
    Thanks,
    Steve

No, you will not fry your new iPod.

  • Can Shuffle play while charging on Apple USB Power Adapter?

    Hi,
We would like to purchase a shuffle (2nd gen) to play continuously music on hold to our company's telephone system. The Phone system's audio-in jack is compatible. I've connected my 1st Gen iPod shuffle to the phone system, and it plays fine.
We will not be able to plug the shuffle into a computer, so we will need to plug it into the Apple USB Power Adapter.
Is anyone doing this? Does it work? Any problems?
    Thanks,
    David

  • Can I charge an iPod Classic 3G with the Apple USB power adapter?

I have just buy an iPod Classic 3G with 15  GB (SN JQ4239GQQQF) from ebay.
I have read that it's posible to sync it with my PC with Windows 7, but, It is not possible
    to charge it by usb.
I could charge it with the Apple USB power adapter?
    Thanks

With that particular model, only the Firewire cable and connection will provide power to the device.  The USB cable is only for syncing.
Using the iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable
Here is the cable you'll need.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with new nano

Hi. I have an older Apple USB Power Adapter (model A1102) that I've been using with an Ipod Mini (bought it with the mini a long time ago). I have a new 3G nano on order. Will this power adapter work with the new nano? Or will I be forced to buy a new one?
Output from the adapter is 5V - 1.0A
    Thanks

Since I also converted from a Mini to a 3G Nano, I thought I'd give you a couple of pointers; I probably spent a couple of days preparing my existing mp3 library (and that says nothing about videos).
    1) Make sure all of your mp3's are NOT marked read-only and load everything you want into the NEW iTunes
    2) Work on collecting/saving the NEW things like album covert art and lyrics (I sometimes use the lyrics area to list musicians/personnel)
    3) Re-construct your playlists and SAVE everything (iTunes actually writes back to the mp3 files--that's why you don't want them read-only)
    4) Only then start messing with videos, because they tend to crash iTunes depending on your hardware, OS, etc. (for example, iTunes doesn't work well with Vista). My best advice for videos is use a 3rd party converter (like Nero Recode) to ensure iPod format compatibility; don't even waste your time with iTunes for anything that isn't a downloaded/purchased item.

  • Apple's power adapter replacement program - U.S. only

    Hello,
    I have a macbook air.
Its power adapter has a L-shape, but I have the same problem because of strain relief.
I found that Apple's power adapter replacement program page on web, About Apple's Power Adapter Replacement Program -- U.S. only.
I think that the T-shape photo on web is just an example showing what strain relief.
When I visit the apple retail store and ask the program, they answered me that program is only available for T-shape power adapter.
is it correct? do I need to buy additional power adapter for my air?
    Thank you,

    Yes, that is correct.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with New Shuffle

I just purchased a shuffle (2nd gen) and was wondering if I can use the Apple USB Power adapter that I use for my ipod (5th gen - the adapter is about two years old) to charge it, or can I only use my computer? The Apple store shows that it's compatible with the newer adapters, so I'm assuming I should be fine, but wanted to make sure.
Also, is there anyway to check on the computer, once the shuffle is docked, how full the charge is or isn't?
    Thanks!!

    It should work... try it!

The only indication is the status LED, it's either orange for charging or
    green for "charged"...

  • Will using 45 W power adapter harm my PowerBook G4?

    Hi!
Since my round charger plug was ruined for my PowerBook G4 (1.5 Hz, 15") I'm using an iBook charger. This charger is only 45W, but since I live in Bolivia, it will take some time to buy a new 65W charger.
My question is: Will using a 45W harm the PB G4 computer or the battery in any way? The voltage is of course also less than on the original charger. I have tried charging and everything seemed to work just fine. But I would really like to know if there are long term negative effects?

I've answered this many times before based on what other say. It's not good to use the 45W adapter on the 15-inch and 17-inch models because it does not get enough power. It can harm the computer, so I've heard.
(Coming from someone who is currently using his 15-inch, me!, while connected to the 45W adapter of my 12-inch one here at my desk!).
It also takes longer to charge the battery.
On the other end, the 65W AC adapter won't harm the 12-inch PowerBooks because the machine will only draw the power it needs.
I think this is why using the 45W adapter with the 15 and 17-inch PowerBooks is not good because it will be "looking" for more power that it DOES need, but it won't get it, putting "strain" on the unit, battery, etc.

  • Apple TV Power adapter

For those who already own an Apple TV I wanted to know if the voltage for the power adapter says 110V-240V on it like it does for the computers. Thanks

    yes it is universal.
all you need to do is change the power cable to suit where you are.
    it's a standard "figure 8" cable.

  • Powerbook G4 Will not run off power adapter

    Hi,
My powerbook G4 starts up and runs fine from the battery but will not run when the battery runs down even though the power adapter is plugged in.
The ASP shows that the adapter is plugged in but not charging.
I have tried three different power adapters, has anyone got any ideas?
    Steve

Did yu notice this behaviour immediate after a software update? it appears you aren't the only one with charging issues. I don't know of any solution so you may want to search through these forums to see if anyone did find a fix for this problem.
