Will an apple store repair my first generation time capsule?

Hi all, will I be able to get my 1st generation Time Capsule repaired? I think it's just the power input thats faulty. Thanks for any help, Alex

Sorry, but Apple does not offer repairs on the Time Capsule, since they consider it a sealed unit.
Forum Time Capsule expert LaPastenague has some tips if you are interested in repairs.......But......and that is a big BUT......the hard drive in your Time Capsule is also 5-6 years old, so it is about ready to go as well.
Whether is would be feasible or economical to try to rebuild a product that old is open to question.

First generation time capsule and older air express with Lion

I think the change/update to Netatalk has left many of Apples own devices stranded on Lion. I had to eliminate my backup to time capsule and move it to a local firewire drive. Printing has also slowed to a crawl.. no more hit print and get from printer; now it is several minutes.
What have your experiences been on these older Apple devices. Has anyone found a way to update or heard if Apple plan to make updates available. I assume the go to market of Lion did not allow time for regression testing on an array of Apple devicea.
I guess one fix is to get rid of and purchase all new devices. that is not very green let alone consumer friendly...

Unfortunately, you are experiencing one of the downsides to 5 GHz. That's because the higher frequency 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals.
After all, you always have to give up something to gain something else. In the case of 5 GHz, you gain potential speed but in return, you must give up penetration power and distance capability.
In order to work well, 5 GHz signals need to almost have a line-of-sight relationship between devices. Unless you can achieve this, you will do much better to leave the Time Capsule running at the 802.11n (b/g compatible) 2.4 GHz Radio Mode and allow the Express devices to "extend" that network.
As for the location of the AirPort Express devices in an exended network, that is critical for best performance. That's because the Express can only "extend" the quality and bandwidth of the signal that it receives. Post back if you need a few more tips on how to find the best location for the AirPort Express devices.

Poor network speed with 1st generation time capsule and multiple airport express 5Ghz. My network speed slows to a crawl when not close to the time capsule. I get the range that I need, but the speed is painfully slow.

I have a first generation time capsule running 802.11n (b/g compatable) and the airport expresse's are the newer 5ghz models. I have 3 airport express's and I have the range that I need. I can run the time capsule using 802.11n 5ghz, but I loose the range and can't connect to all of the airport express's. My computers and mobile devices run 802.11n. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase the network speed. Would the new airport extreme fix the problem?

Hello, I have a first generation time capsule and I want to use my new 1392 airport express to both extend the signal and to play music on my stereo. Can I do both of these things with airport express? If so how d I do it? I currently have been using an old express to play music (it is a first gen express) but also now need to extend the signal.

Yes you can.
If the Express has been configured already, start from the beginning with a "hard reset" (see below) then select "New AirPort Express..." from your Mac's Wi-Fi menu. AirPort Utility will launch and lead you through its configuration.
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then press and hold its tiny reset button and keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

Yes. I have a first generation Time Capsule and it works fine.
Just make sure you buy at least 3 times the GB you are trying to backup. More is better.

I went to the apple store about a week ago to get my screen fixed, and when I get it back I don't have an option to boot into my windows partition. The bootcamp partition is still there, but I can't boot into it. I can still see all of the files on the drive. When I try to boot into windows from the startup disc setting I get "no bootable device — insert boot disk and press any key” on a black screen. I went in for a dead pixel, and the guy at the genius bar ran something on my computer and went into disk utility application. I’m not sure what he was doing, but obviously that’s what messed up my windows partition. How can I be able to boot back into windows? Here's what disk utility looks like on my computer.

If they determine the sound to be a manufacturing defect, then yes, they will replace your iPhone with a refurbished unit of identical specs. The replacement will have the same warranty as your original iPhone, for as long a time as what is left on your iPhone's warranty at the time of exchange.

Most certified Apple technicians can also provide you with a spare screw... just look up your closest tech.

If you dont have AppleCare but you are still within your Apple 1 year limited warranty then hardware service is free as long as the issue was not caused by physical or liquid damage.
