Will an unlocked iPhone 6 bought from the Apple website work in India on Indian carriers?

I'm thinking of buying an unlocked iPhone 6 from the Apple website. On the website it states that it will work on any of the carriers in the United States. Since it does not mention the possibility of its use in India, I wanted to confirm if it would be usable on an Indian Carrier with all the services enabled.
It will work provided you are on a supported iPhone carrier. In order to purchase it, you must have a billing and shipping address in the US.
You may not get 4G/LTE service outside the US.
You will not get any warranty or post-warranty support for the phone. You must return to the US or send the phone to a friend/relative in the US and have them bring it in.

No. You'll need to get a SIM from your carrier. Since you won't have a SIM, there will be no way to activate the iPhone at the store, so you'll have to do it yourself.

You can only put other sims in if you purchase an unlocked iPhone. If you buy one that is subsidized it is locked to a carrier and can only accept other sim cards if it is a Verizon iPhone...Verizon uses the CDMA radio, the GSM radio is unlocked.

I bought an iPhone 5 from the Apple store with a new Sprint contract in Sept. 2012. I would like to know if I port my number to T-mobile and pay off my Early Termination fee with Sprint, will my iPhone 5 will be unlocked to use with T-mobile network?
As Ethmoid says, it is still a CDMA phone as I told you earlier, and it will not work with t-mobile. Even if Sprint unlocked the phone, it would only unlock the GSM side for international use. They will not unlock the GSM side for domestic use in the US.

As far as I know, all the iPhones bought online or in the Apple Store ar unlocked.
Only carriers (e.g. T-mobile, Vodafone, O2) are able to lock a phone, Apple won't do that (afaik).
This would mean that you shouldn't need to unlock your iPhone.

If T-Mobile in the US, while your phone will activate/work, you won't have FaceTime, MMS or 3G. T-Mobile, in the US, is not a supported iPhone carrier, thus all features of the iPhone may not be available. T-Mobile's 3G network, in the US, is not compatible with the iPhone.

They clearly state this on their website.

It's all very confusing to me, I need some answers from experienced customers.I already checked. I purchased my iPhone 3G on the launch date back in July '08. I've paid the bill the day my bill was issued, days ahead of its due date, and for some reason, even through it's magic 8-ball wisdom, said I was not eligible for and upgrade. Based on this issue, I have contacted Rogers. The procedure was very time consuming as I spent over 4 hours on the phone with multiple service reps, supervisors, and managers. This has cost me over $40 in long distance charges just for this phone call. In addition, they made me aware that I was sold an iPhone 4s that was locked to Rogers. Rogers charged me $57 for this unlock, and they said they could not waive this fee because it goes through apple. The typical procedure when apple sells locked phones, is that a replacement phone would be given to me free of charge by apple. I just do not understand why the service rep told me that the phone was unlocked, when actually the supervisor at Rogers confirmed that this device was originally locked to Rogers (traced from imei). I deserve compensation, and would like to hear a prompt response from apple with regards to this matter.

Got an (unlocked) iphone 4s from US and tried activating in India but it throws an error saying 'unable to activate bcos the activation server cannot be reached' ..I tried connecting to itunes through my laptop but it does not detect my iphone..pls help

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.

If I purchase an iPhone 5 from the apple shop, will t mobile supply a nano sim for my existing contract.
I have an iPhone 5 pre-ordered from the Apple store in the UK. I was in our local T-Mobile store last Friday. They didn't know then quite what was happening about supply of nano sims, etc. The store guy thought I might get charged £10 for a nano sim, but he didn't know for sure. My iPhone 5 is due for delivery this Friday (21st Sep). I shall be back in my local T-Mobile store the same day. Good luck!

Yes. But if it ever needs service, it will have to be sent back to someone in the UK. The warranty is not international.
