Will an unlocked uk iPhone 4 work in Croatia

I want to buy my mum an iPhone 4 which is currently on the orange network and get it unlocked so that she can use it with a Croatian pay as you talk t-mobile sim card. Does anyone know whether it will work in Croatia? Also if she has wireless Internet connection in Croatia and I have here in uk will we be able to FaceTime for free?

If the iPhone is officially unlocked it will work perfectly with any SIM card and you wil be able to FaceTime via WiFi. You say you are going to buy the iPhone which is currently locked to Orange and then get it unlocked. As a word of caution, if you are not an Orange customer or have never established service with Orange for a period of time the unlock request may well be denied as you do not meet the required criteria for unlocking.

Apple does not unlock iPhones. You will need to contact your carrier, only your carrier can authorise the unocking of your iPhone, however I don't believe Telcel support authorised unlocking.

Thanks for your help, that article seems to say 02 and vodafone won't be able to use those frequency channels, but doesn't mention what EE is able to use.

So I think that seems as though my question is solved, and that their will be a choice in the future between EE and Three, which is always good.

my friend got it unlocked from hyderabad ,there the mobile guy assured us that he will factory unlock it for rs 5000.. he just took the imei number and in 3 days iphone 5s was unlocked. he didnt take the phone so i knew he didnt jailbreak it or did some hacking stuff .. i have the box with me too with all accessories.but my friend doesnt know which carrier to it was locked....as his friend gave it to him from usa

What about the contract free one? It ships with a T-Mobile SIM and is unlocked (e.g. AT&T works with no issues on 4G for me), I'm just unable to get LTE. Just to clarify Meg's answer a bit, it will only work at 3G speeds in some cities. Outside of those few areas where T-Mobile has a 3G network that is compatible with the iPhone in the US, you won't even get that. You'll only get EDGE speeds in most of the country.

You need to log into iCloud with your Apple ID under Settings->iCloud to Turn on Find my iPhone for each iPhone.
With that done, you can use the App on each iPhone to find the other. You do not need to go to iCloud.com. But you do need to log into the App with the Apple ID you used to log into iCloud in settings.
You cannot use the App without turning on Find My iPhone in Settings on each iPhone, and you cannot do that without logging into iCloud.

They do not provide an online option for requesting assistance if you don't have an AT&T account. If you don't, you will need to call them at 1-800-331-0500; it will be up to you to find one of the several methods for calling a US 800 number for outside the country. But without an account, they probably will not unlock for you.

If you have purchased the iPhone from someone else and you intend to use it on a differing network the ORIGINAL OWNER MUST DO THE UNLOCK BEFORE SALE as the phone iMEi number is tied to that account and network.
The system is the registered user contacts their Mobile operator confirms iMEI number and pays appropriate fee.
That Mobile operator submits the iMEi number to Apple.
Apple white list iMEi number on their iTunes server and confirms this back to Mobile operator.
The Mobile operator sends the registered user an sms/e-mail inviting them to sync phone via USB cable to their ITunes account.
Registered user follows on screen prompts (With registered sim onboard) until they see the “Congrat's .........” message
The registered sim can now be removed and replaced it with a sim from another supported network.
Caveat with some of the Virtual networks such as Giff-gaff /Virgin/Lebara etc........ you may have difficulty getting SMS/MMS to send due to the APN settings being wrong (They default to the actual network sighted).
Some of those Sims may give you access to a hidden menu feature that allows you to set the correct APN manually however others don't.
Those that don't may mean you only receive SMS/MMS messages.

The iPhone 4s uses a Micro SIM and the iPhone 6 uses a Nano SIM. The Nano SIM is smaller and thinner, so you should get a new SIM, but some customers have been able to trim their Micro SIM down and gotten it to work in the newer iPhones. It is a snug fit since it is also thicker, so I would suggest getting a new SIM if you can.
