Will an update to iMovie 08 cost more?
Hey Guys,
Like most people on this board I was very excited when shown the new iMovie 08 online, but soon found out how lacking it was. All it really needs are some hefty updates.
But I was wandering... I have yet to buy iLife 08 because of the issues with iMovie... If I bought it now and apple came out with an update (which they desperately need to) would it cost me more money???
I understand that most of you won't know a for sure answer to this but im relatively new to Apple and wanted to see if there were past issues like this and how apple took care of them...

Can someone tell me if our plan will work in Hawaii w/o costing more?
We are going to Hawaii for vacation and are curious if we will be able to use our phones. I have an older Droid Charge but my husband and parents all have the S4.
The same plan that works in the mainland USA also works in Hawaii. Hawaii is a part of USA and shouldn't be considered a foreign country in terms of cellular service.

An update of iMovie failed with the message "an error has occurred." That message remains posted by iMovie on the Mac App Purchases page. iMovie is now unavailable. It will not start, update, or reinstall from purchases page. How do I reinitialize the app?

IMovie will not update after upgrading to iOS Yosemite
Have upgraded to Yosemite on iMac and Mac book, but iMovie will not update on either devices...it begins the long update and never seems to complete. On the iMac it says "no updates available" but the iMovie icon is crossed out on desktop. Says that version is not compatable. Macbook is showing an update for iMovie, but have tried several times to update and has not worked yet. Any suggestions???
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

I really want to update my iMovie, but I guess I need to update a lot of things first, which costs a lot of money. Is there any way I can just update iMovie and nothing else?
- If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3. To identify yourd see:

- Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod. Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:

Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:

Firefox problems - Can't open from Downloads - Can't print - FF will not update and more and more...
I've been having several problems with Firefox, to the point that I almost can't use it anymore. In no particular order, they include:
1. When I download something, 'Downloads' opens. When a d/l finishes I used to be able to run an install or open an image from there, but now I get this error message,
Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
...but I can go to my Downloads directory and run or open it from there.
2. If I go to File > Print or File > Print Preview, I get this
Printing Error:
"Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer. Do you want to install a printer now?"
and if I click yes, i get this,
"Operation could not be completed."
3. Firefox will not update itself. I go to About, it downloads the new update, and I click the Apply Update button. Firefox closes, and nothing happens. A few minutes later I click to run it, and it opens with a 'Software Update' window that says,
Update Failed
"The partial update could not be applied. Firefox will try again by downloading a complete Update"
...and that does not work.
I download the new version, and when trying to run it from Downloads, I get the error (as in #1 above):
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path of file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
When I go to the folder it's in and run it from there, it installs, but the problems persist.
4. I go to Help|Troubleshooting Information, and clicking the Reset Firefox button only closes Firefox. Clicking the Show Folder button doesn't do anything.
5. I used to be able to drag a url to the desktop, a folder or even a email, but now all I get the the O with a / through it.
6. I also used to be able to, when I click Browse on a site to upload a jpg or a gif, I could right click the file and open it in a photo viewing program (Irfanview or Paint), and now I get
"Windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I've created a new profile and it makes no difference.
I've disabled all add-ons and it makes no difference (I have to disable them manually).
The problems are there for different user accounts in Windows.
I've uninstalled Firefox, and removed the profile - rebooted and reinstalled it, but the problems persist.
What more do I have to do more to completely uninstall it?
I've kinda saved myself by using Firefox Portable, which I'm running from it's own directory. It runs as it should, but I'd prefer not to have to use it.
If i can't fix it, I'd like to completely uninstall Firefox, and just install it new and have it work properly. I have no (or only occasional minor) problems with Firefox on other computers. This computer is Win XP, fully updatedThe post I was responding to said,

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I need to update my iMovie, but it will not let me because I need version 10.7.4 or later. I tried downloading this version but it would not let me because I need 10.7. My question is how do I download 10.7 in order to update my iMovie?
Lion should still be available if you call the online Apple Store. If the Apple Store still has it, they will ask for your Apple ID and credit card number and will then send you a code which you can redeem in the Mac App Store. The Lion installer will download and run automatically.
Confirm compatibility with your current applications and Lion before you upgrade; in particular you will not be able to run any appications that were written only for PowerPC Macs.

I updated my imovie '09 to '11 and now my video files from my camcorder JVC (model GZ_MG330HU) will not import. The video files show up in my iMovie library but when I try to create a project or movie and then share what I have created the files are listed as still on my camera and it says that I need to reimport. It says to go the File Menu and click "Reimport from camera archive" but there is no such option.
I used to import my files with my old iMovie version and create mini home videos but now even those video files are not listed. I would like to reload the old version. How can I do that? Will iMovie '11 get fixed?
Help!If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

After Update to Yosemite iMovie 10.0.7 Dated 10/9/15 Will Not Update
I just yesterday updated from Mavericks to Yosemite. After doing all my updates, only iMovie 10.0.7, dated March 9, 2015, will not update -- but what did update was the same version -- 10.0.7 dated March 28, 2015. I cannot find any way to get rid of the March 9, 2015 update and it's very annoying that the App Store icon in my dock keeps showing I have one update to do. There is enough with Yosemite I'm not fond of, and this is by fare the most frustrating. Does anyone know of a way I can get rid of this update so it won't show in my dock? Thanks.
If my assessment is correct, the LIDE 200 driver is version 14.8.1 and dated 26-Sep-2008. It is possible that the driver will not work with the latest version of OSX. I would advise that you contact Canon and ask them the question.

It is not uncommon (though irritating) that devices no longer work when an OS is upgraded. One has to ask the question if (or why) the driver was not written in such a way as to be OS version independent.

I spoke to Canon over here in Australia. Not helpful at all. In fact they were about as useful as an ashtray on on motorcycle. Having said that the tech seemed to think that there would be an update soon. But that is assuming that Canon are aware that there is a problem with that Scanner under OS X 10.5.7.

i have a new imac with imovie 11 however my everio hd camcorder will only work with imovie 8 or 9. i tried to download imovie 9 but my mac says i don't need the update. How can i download imovie 8 or 9 complete not the update?
I really appreciate all your help. Today I spent some time on the problem. First I purchased any video converter from the ap store and then I connected the camera to the mac with the original usb cable that came with the camera. I turned on the camera and selected backup on pc and the logo came up on my home page. I opened it and after several attempts i found the 3 video files that were on the camera. I then converted them from a tod file to mp4 and then transfered them to imovie. Now I have to figure out how to send the video to youtube or move it to an external hard drive which I have not been able to do. So far I am not too fond of imovie 11. If you could send me the download for imovie 6 I then could try that route. When talking to apple support yesterday about the problem they suggested to get Final Cut Express. It's 200 bucks so before i order the install disc i would like to try your suggestion. My email address is [email protected] Again I thank you very much for your help! George

I have OS X 10.6.8 on my mac and have just downloaded 10.7.4 (needed for imovie 11) but it will not update. What has happened to the downloaded update?
When you downloaded Lion from the Appstore (and paid 29$) you have 10.7.4.
After the download you will find it in the Applications folder: that is the installer ! The installer vanishes when used, thus if you want to make an installer disk (to avoid a later redownload), you should do it before you run this installer. When will they update iMovie to allow video uploads longer than 15 minutes to youtube or is there a setting that can be changed that I am not aware of?
indeed, although you're entitled for uploads beyond 15min (as I do ), iM sets some unwanted benchmark. me no programmer, unfortunately diggin' thru various -plists of the app didn't show me any 'hidden flag' we can set to change that.

My iPad will not update apps. It states it is installing but if never completes the installation this has been going on for more than 24 hours. What do I need to do?
Try a reset:
1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds
2. Until you see the Apple logo (very important) -
Wondershare's iDraft for $2.99 will not update crashing issues due to 4.2!
Wondershare will not update their iDraft App, on the App Store, for compatibility issues due to iOS 4.2! iDraft costs $2.99, and should be pulled from the app store. An app should not be sold, until the issue is addressed. It's wrong, and I want to see some progress, instead of emails saying that we are heading in a different direction... Then return email back saying that we are now working on the issue, and I could get a discount on Wondershare apps...
