Will another website try to contact you to update your browser.
When running firefox, another window develops (I don't think it is a popup) with the following address: "http://www.browser-fast.com/Firefox/". I says that version 24 is not up to date etc. and to download and run a .exe file. It is very confusing because the "browser-fast" site uses your firefox icon and fonts like mozilla uses. I checked the help menu in the Firefox browser under "about Firefox" it lists version 24. I then googled for the latest version of firefox. Anyway this keeps coming, I use spybot search and destroy for adware but nothing comes up.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of this?
Your Firefox is up to date. Don't download that thing.
When you want to download Firefox you should always download it from Mozilla official site [https://www.mozilla.org www.mozilla.org]

On your computer go to iTunes>Store>Check for Available Downloads like the message says. For some reason it will not download directly on your iPod.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
• I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive? -

I recently bot an IMac Snow G4 and installed a 40G HD. It has 640 mem. When I try to load Tiger, I got a msg: "You must update your computer's firmware before installing Mac OS". Never saw this one before. What gives?

You Need To Update Your Browser
Not at every website, but at some, when the site first opens, I get a message/popup saying, "You need to update your browser. Your browser is out of date and some features of this web site may not display correctly. You can update your Chrome, Safari, Explorer, Firefox browser..." Each one is a clickable link. Usually, I can click on an "X" or just somewhere else in the web site to continue browsing.
I'm running Safari 5.1.10. Isn't that the most up to date version for OS 10.6.8? Are they saying I need to update my OS; isn't that the only way to update Safari?Use Firefox if you want to stay with 10.6. It is still being updated.

Yes, iTunes will appear as an update.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again. You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process. -

I notice when a users clicks sign out they get a message "You must close your browser to complete the signout process." Is this required or can one change this behavior? I see this as rude, as someone who has lots
of tabs open in IE will be forced to close the entire IE session and lose their tabs.
spnewbieDepending on your browser and setting this may be necessary to close the browser. SharePoint is not being rude, its just trying to protect you.

Current issues:

2) I have EFI password and won't be able to clear it as well as reset PRAM
3) Boot Camp Assistant is not working as well with the error in the subject
Any ideas how to fix all of these? -
