Will Aperture allow me to drop out backgrounds?
The main reason that I use PSE is to drop out backgrounds on pictures. Does Aperture have this function and does it work on layers?
I downloaded the trial version but have not installed it yet.

No, it does not. That is definitely a Photoshop feature (none of the RAW workflow programs have this type of editing--Lightroom, Canon or Nikons programs, Capture One, etc.)

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

Will Aperture allow me to search photos by title on an iPad? iPhoto library does not let me search for photos by name. Thanks for your help and any suggestions. Rob

as Frank Caggiano said. There is not really any Apple-provided application on the iPad that will support a full-fledged photo database like the Mac-versions of Aperture or iPhoto. Even the IOS app iPhoto is nothing like the Mac version of iPhoto. The iPad version is not a photo database but a tool for editing, sharing, and viewing photos - the iPhoto Help is saying:
With iPhoto for iOS, you have everything you need to view, edit, and share your photos on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch (with iOS 7).
You can organize your photos in iPhoto IOS in a limited way by tagging them, so that they will apear in albums: What are albums?
To tag them with flags or keywords see: Flag, tag, hide photos
Considering the limited space on IOS devices, the designers probably did not expect anybody to try to store so many photos on an iPad that it would be necessary to search for them other than using the predefined Views (Moments, Places) in the Photos.app, or iPhoto's albums. And any library organization you are doing in the Photos.app or iPhoto will not sync back to your computer.

I'm tring to drop the background soundtrack out of a audio file so that I can be left with clean audio of the interview thats over the top. I'v tried the Eq but hasn't completely worked. Any help would be of great help.

Thanks heaps for your help but Im still having alot of trouble with it. The backgound audio is still in behind the vocals, Is there some way to better extract the interview or block the background audio?? And if you apply the settings to a selection can you then apply them to the entire piece??

Unfortunately you are not providing us with any useful information. We need to know what app you are using to email at the very least. However what I'd suggest you do is call AppleCare, you have 90 days of free telephone support (the number is in your owners manual) and they will be happy to assist you. They're open M-Saturday so you will need to wait until tomorrow.
BTW if you have not been exposed to these please bookmark them and begin using them. You may find your answer in one of the videos.

I'm going along and all of a sudden gnome disappears and all of the windows resort to failsafe.
I can usually grab a terminal that's open, and start something like pekwm, but even it drops.

I keep thinking it's firefox, but firefox is still running when everything else crashes. Strange why it attacks the window manager.
Firefox has been running for awhile, maybe a good swift kick, um, I mean restart will clear it out.
Even restarting the whole wm, the problem comes back later.
This is strange.
Everytime I invoke an "innocent" game xbill, it will reliably cause it to drop out again. Wonder what the connection is? Ok, redmond, what's wrong with xbill, not a game you want on your desktop? Leave my desktop alone! Anyways, it doesn't like something about the memory access apparently with xbill. Now it's not doing that, but very peculiar.

I have aperture 3.1.2 running on os 10.6.8 mac book pro. Lost some features in aperature when I upgraded my camera (no longer shows focus points, does not recognize RAW files) Would like to upgrade to aperture 3.5, but do not want to loose any pictures in my extensive library. Do I have to upgrade one vesion at a time, or can I jump? I believe I also need to upgrade my os, but not sure which to do first? Any help would be appreciated...

No, you set that up yourself.
3. I have three mobile me email addresses. One for myself, one for my wife and one I use for my business. What happens to these.
You can convert them to be used in iCloud.
4. My wife and I also use mobile me to sync our calendars across an Ipad (original) and two Iphones (3Gs). Both Iphones and Ipad are still currently using IOS4, and I am reluctant to upgrade this to IOS 5 as I have heard some horror stories. If I fail to upgrade to IOS 5, will this create confusion with my Apple ID's. (There already is a lot of confusion with these- Apple appear to not have down their homework)
If you don't change the settings you have now, I'm sure it will stay working. I believe Apple is phasing out MobileMe and you'd be forced to upgrade eventually.
5. Will Icloud allow me to transfer my Icalendar across seamlessly? This is Ical 4.04 whic came with my Imac. Does this get upgraded if I update to Lion?
Yes, it will get upgraded. I have my calendar on Lion and my iPhone 5.0.1 working seamlessly at the moment. That doesn't mean you won't have problems because with new technology that can be expected. Make sure you do a back up if you're worried about losing data. -
What recording option(s) will allow me to snip out portions of the presentation?
What kind of initial recording option(s) in Captivate 5.5 will allow me to snip out portions--a few seconds here, a few seconds there--of the visual presentation? (It seems like I'm selecting recording options that don't permit this.) Also, how do I do this without affecting the background audio track? Thank you!

If you're recording in 'automatic' Captivate basically takes a screenshot of your screen/application and superimposes the mouse movement. When something changes or you click, it takes another screenshot. Once those screenshots are compiled you can move and manipulate the screens and mouse movements as needed, including removing entire slides.
The way I understand the Demo, Assessment, Training options is those determine what type of captions and and clickboxes are available in your finished product. Those options shouldn't disable you from manipulating the length of slides, only how the learner interacts with the slide.
If you're using FMR you're stuck with the length of the slide as it's recording 'real time' and you don't have options to manipulate the timeline (well you can make it longer but it doesn't impact the FMR movements). -
I want to upload my Jewelry photos and drop out their background to appear they are floating on a white background. Can I do this in I web or I Photo to get that look on my Web Page? Have 3.01 ver of I Web
You will need a 3rd party image editor that can seletively remove the background and let you create a transparent background png file. Maybe with a drop shadow (or not) something like this:

What is the best way to drop out a background to white?
I have several quite old architects drawings to reproduce. The problem is that with age, the original paper has yellowed and foxed. Can anyone suggest a good way of dropping out the background to white so that the image will look nice and clean when I print it, please? Normally I would bring the white point slider up in Levels and sort of burn it out, but I was wondering if there is a more subtle method of doing this. The trouble is I don't want to loose detail in the fine pencil lines at the same time.

No no, I don't mean an insult - you read it wrong! Last thing I would do when asking for help... No, I mean that just 'turning up the white level' is crude, in that it looks like its been blasted by an atom bomb and looks awful, and I was wondering if a more scientific approach might not be applicable. For example, I've tried putting colour sampler points in the image and then independantly adjusting the R, G, and B levels etc until they match at 255 each, but it still looks blown out, but that's what I meant by being more 'scientific', ie perhaps using some of Photoshop's ability to measure colours to enable me to drop them out, for example.
I found a previous thread along the same lines as this and one suggestion was to use some special filters, but they turned out to be mac only.
The 'forensic' reference was to the Color Deconvolution filter, it was designed for police forensic departments as an aid to help spot where two different colours of ink have been used on a document, for example.
By the way, the drawings I'm working on are not all B/W only, some have colour washes on them too...
Perhaps the only way is to try and select the background areas first and then to drop them out. -

I have the latest version of iTunes from the Apple site and my tracks have been downloaded from the net into MP4's in one file.Now,if I try and 'DND' into any of the music folders nothing happens....EXCEPT when I hover he cursor over 'iTunes DJ'....when released the tracks can now be found in 'Recently Added' folder,and can be played.
Now...how do I get them into a folder ? Well,it's time for bed so will play again tomorrow (although I bet i'm up until 1am trying to figure it out !! ). -
I had my iphone 4s synced to itunes on my work laptop. The IT group at work stripped out that installation and will not allow me to reinstall. My iphone insists it has to sync to my work laptop itunes. How do I change iphone settings to look at an itunes installation on my personal laptop?

By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time. -

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or yu do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:
