Will Aperture allow me to search photos by title on an iPad?

Will Aperture allow me to search photos by title on an iPad? iPhoto library does not let me search for photos by name. Thanks for your help and any suggestions.  Rob

Rob,
as Frank Caggiano said. There is not really any Apple-provided application on the iPad that will support a full-fledged photo database like the Mac-versions of Aperture or iPhoto. Even the IOS app iPhoto is nothing like the Mac version of iPhoto. The iPad version is not a photo database but a tool for editing, sharing, and viewing photos - the iPhoto Help is saying:
With iPhoto for iOS, you have everything you need to view, edit, and share your photos on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch (with iOS 7).
You can organize your photos in iPhoto IOS in a limited way by tagging them, so that they will apear in albums: What are albums?
To tag them with flags or keywords see: Flag, tag, hide photos
Considering the limited space on IOS devices, the designers probably did not expect anybody to try to store so many photos on an iPad that it would be necessary to search for them other than using the predefined Views (Moments, Places) in the Photos.app, or iPhoto's albums. And any library organization you are doing in the Photos.app or iPhoto will not sync back to your computer.

  • IMovie will not allow me to import photos from iPhoto

the media button in imovie that suppose to let me import photos and music is not active and will not allow me to get anything, but if i check iphoto by itself it shows me everything i got. Please help i really need to get this project done by this week!
    Thanks In Advance

You'll have to go this route:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • An app to search photos by file name in ipad..

    Hello Everyone,
Hi this is romit. I am looking for an application in which one can search all images in ipad by its name.
For instance: in Mac we have spotlight to find an app by its name, no matter whats the location or type of app it is. provided the name and there you go.
In  windows OS we search box to find anything by its name. So I am looking for an app in Ipad which will give me result of provided photo with that file name.
If ANYONE KNOWS SUCH AN APP PLEASE REVERT TO THIS. IT WILL BE OF GREAT HELP.HNAK
    Thanks apple,
    people,
    & the almighty
    Cheerios...!

Photos on an iPad do not have meaningful file names.   If you synced Photos through iTunes their file names are turned into number sequences (ie img_95040.jpg).  There is nothing to search for that would be of any relevance, hence no to application really do this that I know of.

  • IPhoto 11: Will not allow me to select photos for upload

Hello my knowledgeable compadres. I have installed iLife 11 and am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 on a MacBookPro. I have had no problems with iPhoto 09 but since I've upgraded to the latest version, I am unable to select photos to upload to email, facebook, web pages or anywhere else. Interesting variation is that some photos are selectable; others are not. They are all jpg format so I am at a loss. I can't select photos from within iPhoto to edit; I can't click and select photos from the photos icon in the finder; I can't select any photos from the dialogue between Facebook & iPhoto and it's driving me crazy. I've had my Mac since 2008.Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Bernardine

when I attempt to select the photo from the preview pane in iphoto, it either is inert or, allows me to select it but the photo goes to black with a grey alert symbol on it and disappears in either a close up view or edit window.
The exclamation point - ! - turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents. Your problem isn't selecting files, its that iPhoto can't find the file you've selected.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD

  • Will aperture scan and combine multiple photo libraries

I have photo in 3 differnt iphoto libraries.  Will this software scan all devices and bring all photos to one new library?

I'm not sure what you mean by "scan all devices and bring all photos into one new library."
Aperture CAN import another Aperture or iPhoto library into its own library, as long as they are the right versions (current version is 3.4.5 of Aperture, and I believe iPhoto 9.4.5).  If the libraries are the same version, then you can open one Aperture library, and then do File->Import->Library to import another library into your mail library.
So you should start with one library, then import the other two, then archive off the iPhoto libraries for a while until you're convinced all is working as it should.
Oh, and have up-to-date backups of EVERYTHING before you do this.  It has worked perfectly for me in all cases, backups are always a good idea when doing something as large as this with something as valuable as your photo libraries!

  • I have Maverick on my computer but icloud will not allow me to share photos.

I have a Macbook Pro with a Maverick system but when I go to icloud I cannot share photos.  When I try to see what the problem is I am told that I have to have a Mountain Lion system or higher.
    What is the problem?

"iCloud Photo Sharing adds new features to shared photo streams, including the ability to share videos and allow subscribers to contribute to your shared streams. These new features work with the following devices and software:"
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 7
Mac using OS X v10.9 or later and either iPhoto 9.5 or Aperture 3.5
Apple TV with Apple TV software 6.0
Windows PC using Windows 7 or later and iCloud Control Panel 3.0 or later
If you are using earlier versions of iOS, iCloud Control Panel, iPhoto, or Aperture, you can still create and view shared photo streams. Learn more.
From here >  iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
To make absolutely certain, which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.

  • The iCloud panel on my PC will not allow me to select Photo Stream 'Options...'

My Photo Stream has quit working and now I cannot define the Photo Stream folder.  Any ideas?

Sara, AVG is a secure search browser powered by Yahoo. I changed the security level on my AVG browser and it is now able to open pdf.  But this computer is an old Dell that I received as a gift and I can not download a printer driver because I can't not log in as an administrator due to a forgotten pass word. Is there anyway to change an administrator password?   I tried to lower the security on the Google browser which is Google Chrome to answer your question but it still blocks pdf files.  This computer has a working driver and printer.  Do you think that I could down load another browser other that Google Chrome would help? Thanks your patience and concern. Mike

  • Mail will not allow me to save photo attachments in iPhoto

I am running 10.8.2. When I receive a photo attachment in Mail normally I would click on the Save tab and select Save to iPhoto - but the photo does not appear in iPhoto? Any ideas?

Bug. Report to Apple. IPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
For now save the the desktop and import or open with quick look, expand to full page and save to iPhoto from there

  • Will Aperture allow me to drop out backgrounds?

The main reason that I use PSE is to drop out backgrounds on pictures. Does Aperture have this function and does it work on layers?
I downloaded the trial version but have not installed it yet.
    Thanks

No, it does not. That is definitely a Photoshop feature (none of the RAW workflow programs have this type of editing--Lightroom, Canon or Nikons programs, Capture One, etc.)
    Cheers-

  • App will not allow me to share photos with facebook? How do i fix this? It has always worked before until facebook did their update

Everytime I go to share, it acts like it's going to facebook then goes right back to the selected/choose page. Please help. Have already deleted app and reinstalled. Still not working!!

Some other users here have had to delete the new Facebook.app from their iPhone then log in to Facebook through the iPhoto.app and then reinstall the Facebook.app. It seems that iPhoto and the new Facebook.app are not cooperating.

  • Dropbox will not allow me  to view my rtf files on my ipad

since IOS8 update i can not read my rtf files unless i  open them in another  app. I have too many  important files I have to spend  too much time opening them now Dropbox has quickly  become a useless app . Apple  does not  recognize this  issue ?  or  what....  am I  to do. Help if you can please! thanks, Jody A. i will wait  a while. Ps I  tried uninstalling and  reinstalling  the app but to no avail did   the  problem cease....

I had rtf file problems as well--on GoodReader and Dropbox--as soon as I got my iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8 on it, but updating to iOS 8.1 today appears to have resolved those. It was listed as a known problem that they had fixed in the betas of iOS 8.1 and happily it seems to have come through, at least for those apps. (I didn't even have update to the most recent versions of GoodReader or Dropbox to get the functionality of rtf files back in those apps.) Try updating to iOS 8.1 and see if things resolve.
