Will aperture convert raw files straight to jpegs

at present I'm using professional photo shop to do my raw camera shot files, am thinking of buying aperture to use with my brand new all in one desk top mac, but need to know if it will convert raws straight to jpegs?

While I like and use Aperture for a couple of years now, I would recmmend caution in going there now.  According to other posts on this forum and various
articles on the Web, Aperture is being frozen in a prepare to die status.  Here is a ZDNet article on it.  If you search the web, you can probably find other
articles online.  Apple is saying that Aperture is being replace by the New Photo application announced in June.  There is very little if any information on what
Photo can do for a professional.  Some, including me, are expecting it to be a non-professional offering.  Personally I'm exploring Light Room 5 and Photoshop CC 5 to replace Aperture.

Updates to Aperture have been fewer in the last few years except for Camera Raw which is part of OS X itself.
Here is another discussion on the issue which indicates that opinions vary:  Should I buy Aperture in July 2014 even though it's EOLing?

Am I able to convert RAW files to jpegs on Photoshop Elements?

    Hi,
Sorry, but with the information you have given, the only answer I can give is "possibly".
Each camera model produces a slightly different raw format - even different models by the same manufacturer and even if they have the same extension (file type). The latest cameras will not be supported by older versions of Photoshop Elements although there is a converter which can help.
To give you a better answer, we need to know
    1) The camera make and model
    2) The version of Photoshop Elements that you are using
    3) The operating system that you are running on.

  • HOW TO CONVERT RAW FILES TO JPEG RGB 8 BIT in iphoto

Can someone please tell me how to convert RAW files to jpeg RGB 8 bit in iphoto on an iMac?

How are you trying to "export to Mypics"? The only way to get a Raw out of iPhoto is to export with the Kind set to Original.

It depends on the sofware you have.  ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) hosted by Bridge or by Photoshop can convert ("open") raw files, as can Lightroom.
However, not all camera models are supported by all versions of the software.  We need to know the make and exact model of the camera that generated the raw files to advice you further.
We can also assist you with the conversion through ACR hosted by Photoshop.
Olease note that there are dedicated forums for Lightroom, for Adobe Camera Raw and for Bridge.
Here's the list of which cameras are supported by each version of ACR.  Note that later versions supporte all camera models supported in previous versions of ACR.

    Note that the latest version of ACR to run in CS4 is ACR 5.3;
    CS3 runs ACR 4.6;
    CS2 runs ACR 3.7;
    CS runs 2.4.

created by JimHess in Adobe Camera Raw - View the full discussionThank camera requires Camera Raw 8.6 which isn't compatible with Photoshop CS5. But you can download DNG converter 8.6 or newer and create digital negative (DNG) copies that will be compatible with Photoshop CS5. • Converting raw files into tiffs and preserving the orig. date created

How do I get the original date created to show up in folders when converting raw files into tiffs?  Once converted the original date created is in the "file info" window but does not show up as the original date created in the designated folder.  It is displayed as the same date as date modified.

    Thanks Mylenium
As Mylenium has said, this information can be added later by various means. It will also depend on the software you are using on what date it is reading!
    As an example there are:
    The files date created
    Photoshop schema DateCreated
    EXIF schema DateTimeOriginal
    XMP schema CreateDate
For an external tool you can use ExifTool http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
or you could try to get a script written in the Photoshop or Bridge scripting forums.

  • How to convert raw files from new fujifilm x-t1 ?

how to convert raw files from new fujifilm x-t1 ?

The work around of converting the CR2 to dng either with the dng converter or ACR 6.7 will allow working in LR and CS5 but not with the latest raw conversion engine from Adobe i.e PV 2012.
Remember to keep a copy of the CR2 files if you wish to utilize the Canon software.

  • DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D.

DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D (it does not see them). I tried DNG converter version 8.2 and 8.4. No success. I use iMac. What is wrong?

hopefully, that's a typo on adobe's website because they list the canon 70d as using a .cs2 file extension, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
i don't see any other camera that uses a .cs2 extension and i don't see other people having problems, so that probably is a typo.
in any case, cr 8.2 or better is able to convert your camera's raw files.  why you are having a problem i can't say, but double check that you are navigating to the correct folder by adding a file that will show up in your dng converter.

  • Elements 11 will not recognize raw files from  Nikon D610

Elements 11 will not recognize raw files from Nikon D610. I have downloaded ACR 8.2 and DNG converter to no avail! Any suggestions? It does recognize files from my D600.

Support for the D610 was added in the latest release candidate version of Camera Raw, 8.3 RC. You will need to install that version or wait until it is officially released. Your choice.

  • Elements 7 will not download RAW files from new 5dmarkII, ??

Got new camera for christmas 5dmark II, elements 7 will download jpegs just fine , but will not import raw files. my 40d will download both jpegs and raw with no problem ( has done so for years ). need any help I can get. thanks

    John,
When I click on the link, the page appears, but my mouse is dead. Clicking on Download and other apparent links has no effect. I'm using IE 8. Other pages/links work fine. Have you actually downloaded the ACR from the link? There is something going on with that page.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has successfully downloaded ACR 5.6 from that page.

  • Does Aperture support RAW files from a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ27 camera?

Please can anyone let me know whether Aperture supports RAW files from a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ27 camera? The Apple Aperture site lists support for DMC-F35 and other later cameras but does not allow a search for others.
    Many thanks.
    John

Only the cameras on this list are supported:  Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
    Th FZ27 is not.
For my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 I am using Adobe's free DNG Coverter to convert the RAW files to DNG. It does not always work, but for most of the RW2 files I can work in Aperture this way. The stubborn files I convert to TIFF.

  • Running CS5 on a Macbook Pro. Will not read raw files for a new Canon T5i camera. Can update the current RAW?

Running CS5 on a Madbook Pro. Will not open RAW image files from a new Canon TRi camera. Can I update to latest RAW processor with current CS5, or must I update to CS6 on the MacBook?
    Jack

ACR 7.4 is the one that will read T5i raw files and it is CS6 specific. You can upgrade for $200 Standard or $400 Extended in you need 3D support.
You can also see if converting your T5i files to .dng format will do just as well.
