Will aperture work properly on a dual G5?

Its quite old, with dual 1.8GHz and only 1.2Gb of memory.
Would increasing memory to 3Gb make any difference, or should I save my money and wait for the day I can afford a newer mac?

I have a G5 quad core, GEFORCE 7800, with 8 Gig RAM.
I find AP barely usable. My library is large, but I find image processing too unresponsive. It is very difficult to make subtle changes (such as WB, exposure, contrast), when there is significant lag of the actual image preview alteration. Sometimes even the slider bar is slow to respond. Editing while AP is performing other activity is a NO GO. Also, it slows to a craw if you try to first spot heal, clone, or straighten.
I have used AP since it was released. Yes, I have done the usual, often quoted performance fixes.
I also have a newer (last year) MB Pro. Although not exactly speedy, it offers a significant improvement.
My sense is #1 - AP suffers from overall performance issues, perhaps future upgrades will fix and #2 - you will be really unhappy with your workflow unless using Intel processor at a minimum.
I will be upgrading to new Mac Pro soon. If I still see performance issues with a maxed out unit - it's off to LR.

Now that Aperture is available as an $80 app, I am considering moving from iPhoto to Aperture. If I do, will Aperture work seamlessly with my existing iWeb pages and MM galleries, set up via iWeb and/or iPhoto? The other editing programs I use on occasion are Nikon Capture NX2, and Photoshop Elements. Also, if I want to at time remain in "simple iPhoto" mode while using Aperture, is this possible, or will my life be more complicated for every edit? Thank you!

Yes, iWeb can access your Aperture images if you've enabled previous. I tried this and found iWeb's web galleries quite horrid. After experimenting with a variety of options, I settled on customizing Aperture's web galleries and grafting together pages created by the two programs. iWeb works fine for throwing together some top level pages, and you can then hang Aperture web galleries off them as external links. Several folks have posted instructions on how to do this, and one fellow assembled a nice PDF.

Not all of the animations and features in Keynote will transition into Powerpoint. Most of the basic ones do - but not the advanced. I had this issue when I first switched over to Mac, so to overcome this, I do two things:
I figured out which animations and transitions work in both Keynote and Powerpoint and used them. It's kind of a pain when I can't use the awesome Keynote animations, however, Keynote is still much easier and intuitive to work in than Powerpoint.
I sometimes export my Keynote presentations to a Quicktime movie (.mov). Apple makes it very simple to export to this format; which can then be accessed on both a Mac and PC and all of the transitions and effects remain as they are in Keynote.

Although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. As for your problem, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. I would try a restore just to see if it could be something software related, but if that doesn't work I would recommend taking to an Apple Store to see if it is a serious hardware issue and if it is, assuming you're in warranty, then they would be able to replace your phone.

Here is again the short version:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Open your User Library in the Finder. It is hidden in MacOS X Lion, so use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > GO hold down the "Options" key, until the library appears in the menu, select it.
In the window that opens, open the folder "Preferences" and remove the file:com.apple.garageband.plist and com.apple.garageband.plist.lockfile
Then try again to run GarageBand and download the loops.
The preferences file stores all you user settings that you set using the "Preferences" panel in GarageBand, also the layout of the GarageBand window and the location of your recent projects. You will have to enter these settings again after removing the file.

HP computer will not work properly with an HP printer

I have the following two items that I am trying to use together:
- HP 23" TouchSmart Desktop, T6500 2.1GHz 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD (Windows 7)
- HP OfficeJet 6500 Multi-Function Printer/Scanner/Fax
When I try to scan to Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0, the document goes through the scanner, however the dialog box that I would expect (e.g. "Next Page" or "Done") never shows up. At this point, the system is unresponsive with respect to Adobe or the printer.
I suspect that it is waiting for the input from the dialog box that never showed up. I tried to move the other windows to see if the dialog opened in the background, however I am not able to select any of them (they remain frozen).
I contacted HP Support, only to have them tell me it must be the driver, and I have an "old" printer. (I did not realize that a 9 month old printer was considered "old"). I have tried all of the possible drivers that are available (original disk, downloads, other downloads from HP tech support), none of these resolves the problem.
In any case, they were unable to resolve the problem of having an HP computer work properly with an HP printer. (The printing function seems to work, just very slowly).
Has anyone else heard of this? Is there a resolution?

Update: I am still looking for a solution to this problem - the scanning portion of the Multi-function OfficeJet 6500 does not work properly with the HP TouchSmart computer.
I have not been able to find anyone in HP that can tell me when (or if) new drivers will be released for this printer.
I decided to investigate upgrading to a newer version of printer since HP told me the 9 month old printer I have was "obsolete", only to find that the identical printer is still on sale in many stores. Hmmm....
I feel like I am getting the run-around from HP.
I have since tried several more driver/software combinations, but every time I have the same problem (as described in the previous post).
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would be most happy to hear them.

CC 2014.2 Illustrator and Photoshop will not work properly on 10.7.5

I have recently download Illustrator and Photoshop CC 2014.2 on my MacBook Pro version 10.7.5.
I notice some of the functions where not working properly. For example Bounding box in Illustrator will not appear for rectangle tool. Color strip on the color box will appear as sold color instead of strips of different colors for me to choose.
I called the Adobe to find out why is this happening and they told me it was because I don't have the latest OS on my MAC. Do to company policy I can't upgrade my OS to the latest version. Adobe send me the link that is not working for two times and need the correct link ASAP.
Can you guys please send me the right link for me to downgrade?

Is there an update or a release date of when Siri will work properly, as advertised at launch? Also will there be more options on the voices Siri speaks to us? I personally would prefer speaking to a female than a male. Or how about celebrity voices!!

Is it still the case that the Muse CC Forms widget will not work properly unless you have Business Catalyst?

I am looking into options for our next office website redesign. We will definitely need a forms function. I downloaded the Muse CC free trial and went through all of the tutorials. The video on the forms (Contact Form) stated that the forms widget would not work or would not work properly if you do not have Business Catalyst. I'm hoping that has changed since the video was created.
Is this still true that you need to purchase the Business Catalyst product for Muse CC form widgets to work correcty???

Wireless drivers will not work properly in Win XP

I have a late 2007 white macbook and when I got the computer then I immediately installed Windows XP so I could have Microsoft Office. When I did so I installed the Boot Camp Drivers from the Mac instal disc 1. It worked fine for about a year, I don't use Windows much at all except for maybe powerpoint and for some reason the wireless internet stopped working.
I've tried reinstalling and repairing the drivers to no avail. Some of them like the iSight camera work and the eject button/ right click with two fingers.
The gray diamond for Boot Camp that used to appear in the windows toolbar (bottom right corner) does not load anymore. I'm not sure why not. that's probably the problem but I used the same install disc I used the first time (reinstalled them twice now) and this time it will not work completely.
Windows XP wireless utility does not recognize the signal, when you click "refresh network list" nothing happens....it doesn't even search.
Finally I tried installing the third party driver from Broadcom which has a wireless utility. this utility at least recognizes my network but cannot connect. the log for the utility just keeps saying:
"Initializing Wireless State Machine"
The network conects fie to OSX and the three windows computers in my house....there is no protection.

Well, with a PPC Mac you can upgrade as far as Firefox 3.6.19 if you upgrade from Tiger OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard OSX 10.5, but Firefox doesn't support PPC architecture in the latest Firefox 4, 5, and 6.0 versions.
For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

ITunes will not work properly on windows PC
