Will Apple Care extended warranty cover broken glass?

Or, for that matter, will the 90 day warranty do anything for broken glass on a 4G?

I was wondering the same thing.  I have an iPhone4 with the AppleCare plan.  Although I have had my phone and AppleCare plan for a year, I didn't bother registering the plan until tonight when my glass broke (from a fall of about two and a half feet).
My paperwork for the AppleCare plan says that it simply extends the warranty.  That tells me no coverage except for manufacturers' defects.  However, when I went to register my plan at the Apple support website, I was redirected to this page for details of the plan I had just registered.  http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
Quoting from that page:  "Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone1 and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee.2 Whether you use your iPhone with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues."
This would seem to imply that for a $49 fee, I can get my glass replaced.  Anybody know if that's the case?
The plan I purchased is called "AppleCare" in all my paperwork.  However, this web page indicates "Applecare+".  Anybody know if there is a distinction between Applecare and Applecare+?
My guess is that sometime in the last year, they added that "two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee" sometime in the last year.  And when they added that coverage, they changed the name from AppleCare to AppleCare+.  But that's just a guess on my part.  Anybody know for sure?

  • Can I purchase an Apple Care extended warranty for an iPad Air if I purchase it at Best Buy?

CAn I buy an Apple Care extended warranty for an iPad Air if I purchase it at Best Buy?

For me? Buying from best buy was my only option since the closest apple store is over an hour away. (and technically in another state)
Also, when I bought my iPod the warranty that Best Buy offered was far more comprehensive than Apple Care with accidental damage protection for up to 3 years.
And, when my iPad's charging port messed up, I took it into Best Buy and they swapped me out for a new one while at an Apple store I likely would have gotten a refurb.
When I swapped out my iPod 4 for my iPod 5 I took it into best buy, got $70 towards the purchase of the new device by trading in the old one.
Best Buy isn't perfect and not every store is a good one, but they are a good alternative or other option to explore for those buying devices.
I think my biggest beef when buying my iPad and later iPod at Best Buy is when I bought my iPad I bought the screen protector and they wanted to charge me to apply it...and it kinda rankled for me to be plunking down over $600 dollars to have them want to charge me $15 for a screen protector install.

  • My screen cracked, but I haven't had my macbook for a full year yet. Does Apple care or warranty cover the costs of the damage?

My screen cracked, does apple care or warrant cover the costs?

Yes, unless the damage occurred due to an accident. In other words the warranty is applicable only if the crack occurred due to a manufacturing defect.

  • Apple Care extended warranty??

Good bad or indifferant.....What about other extended warranty plans like Best Buys or Radio Shacks?

Again, read EXACTLY what the warranty covers.
If it does NOT say it covers loss, damamge by
accident, etc. it will NOT be covered, regardless off
    what the salesman tells you.
Usually, 40-50% of a store managers salary comes
directly from extended warranties. They are cheap &
easy to sell for the store and the compnay makes big
    $$$ off of them.
This is not necessarily bad, but for a $20 cd player,
    you don't need one.

I appreciate the links..... The minute I say scrap the extended warranty, you know my ipod will go on the fritz and out of luck I will be............. I think Best Buy will even replace your battery for free with that extended warranty.

  • Does 1year warranty cover broken glass?

I dropped my iPad and broke the glass I purchased it 3 months ago. Am I covered under warranty?

Apple will replace your iPad with another one for about 1/2 the price of a new one. You may can find a 3rd party repair source to fix it for less, however, your Apple warranty will be voided.

  • Are Refurb Phones Accepted in the Apple Care Extended Warranty?

anyone have any input on this?

i was wondering if i can extend the 90 day warranty on the refurbs
Most likely no. The original warranty is the deciding factor in purchasing AppleCare. More than likely, the original warranty on the refurbished units you purchased has expired, thus making them ineligible for AppleCare. You can confirm this by plugging the SN's in here:

  • Will Apple Care fix a phone with a broken back glass?

I bought an iPhone 4 in July 2010 at an ATT store, and bought an Apple Care plan with it at the same time.  I managed to shatter the back glass of my phone on the day I bought it.  It's been working fine ever since with the broken back glass.  I just put it in a case and haven't worried about the back being broken.
However, recently the home button has stopped working very well.  I am still under Apple Care extended warranty; however, I don't know if they will fix my home button with the back glass being broken.  Does anyone have any ideas or ever been in this situation?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.  Just to be clear--I'm not asking them to fix the back glass, which I know is not covered by warranty.  I'm asking if they will fix something else that shoudl be covered.  They could send it back to me with the back glass still broken as long as the home button worked.
Sorry, but you're going to be out of luck. There is no way to prove that the damage that cased the glass to crack did not also cause the problem you want fixed under warranty. The only option Apple is going to give you is a $149 out of warranty replacement.

  • I dropped my MacBook Pro and the corner of the lid got dented. Will apple care cover that? If not, and ideas what the repair cost would be?

Will apple care cover a dented corner? If not, any ideas on repair prices?

AppleCare does not cover accidental damage. Your homeowners'/renters' insurance may. Put them on notice of an accident now.
We are end users like you and have no way of knowing costs in your area. The repair cost will probably be higher for a Retina MBP than for a non-Retina, but you've not told us which of the dozens of MacBook Pro variants you have.
Call an Apple Store and make an appointment. Estimates are usually free.

  • Transferring Apple Care Extended Protection Plan

I bought my friends iphone 3gs and she does not have the iphone box or the apple care extended protection plan box anymore but i  am able to see online that it is still in warranty but it is in her name. How can I transfer the iphone into my name without the boxes and apple care registration number?

AppleCare is a warranty extension and covers manufacturing defects. It is not insurance and will not cover user-caused damage, such as scratching or cracking of the glass (unless the crack was determined to be due to a defect in manufacturing, not the iPad being dropped or impacted).

  • Will Apple Care covers if I have Ghost Armor on my iPad screen?

I just got the new iPad and then the next day have those guys in the mall from Ghort Armor to fully have screen protector for my iPad. Will apple care/warranty mind if I have it on, in case my ipad needs repair/replacement? Thanks

You'd need to remove the screen protector before you send/take the iPad to Apple, but as long as the cover doesn't make any permanent modifications to the iPad, it won't have any negative warranty impact.
    Regards.

  • ...will either insurance or warranty cover this?!

My husband's iphone 3Gs screen has gone irreversably white. We're not sure if it got bumped somehow or what. We've tried powering off/restarting/reseting. No structural or water damage... will either insurance or warranty cover a replacement?!

Entirely up to the Apple employee you show it to. Only Apple can judge whether or not it comes under the warranty. Any sign of accidental damage will of course void the warranty.

  • Does Warranty cover broken screens on ipod 4th generation?

I have a cracked screen. Will any part of warranty cover it or will it all depend on the person?? Any Advice??

    NayNay,
Accidental damage is not covered by your iPod's warranty.  So unless you can convince Apple that it is the result of something such as a manufacturer defect, you are out of luck. Sorry.
Either way, schedule a trip to your local Apple store/Genius Bar and see what they can do for you.

  • Will Apple Care cover an extra charger I bought?

    Hi everyone!
A while back I decided to buy an extra charger for my MacBook Pro. My parents live in separate homes and after forgetting my charger one too many times I decided to buy an extra one and have one at each house. A while back one of the chargers broke but I never brought it to the Genius Bar because I had my other charger as well. Well now my second charger has broken too. If I bring both chargers to the Genius Bar to trade in for new ones will my Apple Care cover both of them? Even the one I bought separately? I have about 6 months left to my Apple Care.
    Thanks!

You will have to bring them in anyway so do as such.  Then you will find out as to what is exactly covered.  We are users such as yourself and do not set or execute Apple policies.
    Ciao.
