Will Apple Care fix a phone with a broken back glass?

I bought an iPhone 4 in July 2010 at an ATT store, and bought an Apple Care plan with it at the same time.  I managed to shatter the back glass of my phone on the day I bought it.  It's been working fine ever since with the broken back glass.  I just put it in a case and haven't worried about the back being broken.
However, recently the home button has stopped working very well.  I am still under Apple Care extended warranty; however, I don't know if they will fix my home button with the back glass being broken.  Does anyone have any ideas or ever been in this situation?

Sorry, but you're going to be out of luck. There is no way to prove that the damage that cased the glass to crack did not also cause the problem you want fixed under warranty. The only option Apple is going to give you is a $149 out of warranty replacement.

    NOTE:  Apple Care nor the standard warranty does not cover accidental damage.  You will be responsible for the repair costs (which are usually more than the cost of the computer).    
    If you have homeowners or rental coverage check w/them.  Most policies cover accidental damage.    
    If you purchased your computer w/a credit card, check w/them also.  You just may be covered.

    Hey Mazals, No, your family is right, you can recycle your iPod by turning it over to Apple, and as Skydiver119 has stated it's not much, 10% off the purchase price of a new Apple device, so a $300 iPod = $30 off the price, it's about what it would cost to get ride of an electronic device if you took it to a recycling center, you just can't throw these things away in the trash. Some electronics store will give you more toward the purchase of a new product, provided you buy the replacement from there store. (Generally, the device has to be in good working order, cracked screen may not qualify). I don't which ones, you'll have to do some research. Your other option is fix you iPod and continue to use it, BUT, there's always a but... you need to way in if it's worth fixing. Used iPod 4 are selling for about the cost to replace the screen-- provided you do the labor to replace the screen. Not worth doing if you plan to fix it and sell it. What ever you do, make sure you make a full backup to your computer before you recycle, repair, or sell. If you decide to sell don't forget to untether it from your computer, unlock it wipe it clean, so the next owner, can use it. Since your sights are set for a new iPod, I would recycle with Apple.     If you purchased your iPhone from Apple within the last 14 days then you can return it to switch it for another color if you wish.
    If you purchased it through your carrier, then you will need to look at their returns policy, but I expect it would be similar.

    If you damaged the screen, then yes, you have to pay. But most Apple stores can replace the screen for a relatively small fee. If the screen was defective there will be no charge for replacement.

    AppleCare does not cover accidental damage. Your homeowners'/renters' insurance may. Put them on notice of an accident now.
    We are end users like you and have no way of knowing costs in your area. The repair cost will probably be higher for a Retina MBP than for a non-Retina, but you've not told us which of the dozens of MacBook Pro variants you have.
    Call an Apple Store and make an appointment. Estimates are usually free.

    You'd need to remove the screen protector before you send/take the iPad to Apple, but as long as the cover doesn't make any permanent modifications to the iPad, it won't have any negative warranty impact.

    As Peter says above, only an Apple Store genius can advise you.
    But to further clarify, you seem to postulate that if Apple helps you, the cure would be a replacement.  That is not necessarily true.  Let them look at it and advise you what the remedy is.  They may offer you nothing (saying it's your fault), or they may offer you a solution (keeping your current iPhone), or possibly a replacement.

    Any Leopard 10.5 version you find available for download may have compromized software inside.  BitTorrent copies of Apple software has been known to contain malware.
    As OGELTHORPE says, you will need to find a 10.5 retail disk(s) (not the gray disks) in order to know you are installing a good copy of Leopard 10.5
