The OtterBox Screen protector is built into the case. You don't apply it like you apply a ZAGG InvisibleShield screen protector. It is part of the case. On my iPhone, I have a screen protector with an OtterBox Defender Case on it and the touch screen is very responsive and works fine.

I recently had to do a complete wipe of my five-year-old dual USB iBook after a leaf count error (no idea what that means, just that the disk utility and fsck couldn't do crud for it). I saved what I could on an external HD and now I'm looking to rebuild my system. The problem: I can't get back to my former OS (10.4). The reason for this is, my 10.4 state of bliss was due to an upgrade DVD that my then-partner used on my computer, running 10.3 at the time. Why did I have 10.3? Well, I sure didn't purchase it! Back in the day, I actually sent my iBook in under AppleCare for the notorious logic board repair/replace a couple years ago and it came back with 10.3 installed, gratis! Very cool...except now I have no disk for it. I DO have the upgrade DVD for Tiger, but that won't work while I'm running Jaguar (10.2).
Will Apple help me out with this if I, say, take it to a Genius bar? I know I just got lucky with the AppleCare upgrade, but I've been running my life around 10.4 for awhile now and 10.2 feels like the stone-age. Is there any way I can convince them to help me restore it back to its former Tiger self?
(by the way, my computer is still beeping to itself occassionally...I'm just going to try to ignore that sound).

HI, Andrea. More or less by accident, Apple has allowed you to use Panther and then Tiger on a trial basis at no charge for some time. Your next step is to buy one of them yourself. You aren't owed another free copy of either.
If the Tiger DVD your ex-partner used on your machine was an upgrade-only disc, it may have been offered at a deep discount to buyers of new Macs who purchased them with Panther installed, but after Tiger had been released. I got a Panther upgrade installer of the same kind on that basis a couple of years ago, when I bought a new Powerbook with Jaguar installed on it after Panther was introduced. The license for the software on that disc allows it to be installed on one and only one Mac.
In any event, you need to pony up for a retail installer of the OS you want.

We are not Apple, and Apple does not unlock phones. Sprint will unlock phones, but you have to qualify. One of the qualifications is to have been a customer in good standing for a period of time. You can check their website for what that is. After that, they can unlock the GSM side of the phone for International use, that is it. If you are on a CDMA carrier, then it cannot be unlocked. Are you trying to use a local SIM card in China?
Your only option is to contact Sprint to see if you qualify for an unlock. Only they can unlock it. Sprint is one of the poorest choices to take to another country.

If my screen is cracked but im having other issues, will apple help me?

Apple's fix will consist of replacing your iPhone with a refurbished one, at a cost to you of about half that of a new model. This assumes they accept yours for that program but I have not heard of any instances in which they refused.

If I buy a new macbook with Apple, will they help me install a dual operating system?

I've heard Bootcamp does this, but I've never owned a Mac before, and am daunted by the change. I would love a Mac for ease of use, as many of my friends seem to love it, but for school purposes, my PC laptop is better. My PC needs to be updated, though, and I really want to spring for the Mac, I just don't want to lose being able to not have to do my homework in a computer lab. A friend has dual operating systems on hers, and says it works beautifully for running both, though I don't know what macbook she's got. If I go to an Apple store and get a laptop from them, even bring the Windows 7 operating system (I'm NOT doing Windows 8), will they help do this for me? Does anyone know if it is alright to have the dual systems, or if it takes away from the hardware's ability to work? ANY advice is welcome.

It is not hard. Boot Camp allows running Windows natively, same as on a laptop PC would be with a few differences in fan and thermal control and drivers.
Once installed natively which would be dual-boot setup, you can then install and use VMware or Parallels to assign the Windows partition for use as a VM inside OS X, no more need to dual boot unless you want to.

I recentlly installed a HD. It was not difficult given the simple instructions. The main thing to watch out for is to keep track of which screws came from which holes and to replace them in the same positions. That is not hard. These toolkits will help with the installation.

Will Apple help us with ATT rate hikes? Who do I contact?

Just a few months ago - and at the time I entered into my 2 year contract - unlimited textings was avaialble for less that 5 dollars more. But that is now gone and what has taken its place is just Dick Channey crazy!
Wasnt the whole point of APPLE insisting that phone plans all come with unlimited internet so that this would encourage the owners to fully integrate the iphone in to their daily lives? Does having huge rate increases in texting help that cause ?
MY QUESTION TO APPLE and its user forums - WHO do I contact at apple or at ATT for help on this issue??

ATT has implemented monsterous rate hikes and LIMITATIONS on package combinations so that iphone users will pay as much or more for Texting than they do for unlimited internet.
We had to live with unlimited internet not including unlimited texting. OK fine, thats how it was when we signed up and you have to take it or leave it. But now with the new changes in rates - here is what the iphone user has as their options.

$5 - get 200 more - 400 texts total

THE NEXT OPTION - $20 MORE, for not unlimited but 1500 texts.
Does having to keep an eye on your text totals or paying at least $85 / month sound like the vision that apple wanted for the iphone users?

I have been with ATT since Cingular and I've had internet,text and MMS combo packages for some time now; that Includes shopping around for the right phone and plans combo. And I know for a fact that there were MANY combos of unlimited and they were FAR from 50 bucks.
There certainly might be a webpage or two with some ancient pricing plans offered. And I am sure that any one of those would be superceeded by another new price offer on the same plan.

Will Apple Genius Bar install old OS X free?

I have a late 2005 (Or 2004, not really sure) 1.5GHz 15 inch PowerBook G4 and I recently restored the software on it to 10.3 (Panther). I have an iBook Clamshell SE Firewire running 10.4 (Tiger). I want to bring the PowerBook in and update it to 10.5 Leopard. Apple updated the clamshell free of charge but that was because it wasn't working on the other software.
I want to know if Apple would update the PowerBook G4 free of charge even though there is nothing wrong with the software.

The short answer? Who know's? Take it into the bar, and you might find a someone that is having a good day and won't mind bending the rules a bit to help out a fellow machead. Stranger things have been known to happen.
However, the information you have been given is correct. It was not a free upgrade from Apple from the start. And to be honest is a rather pricey beast now on the open market. I was lucky enough to optain my copy when I purchased this powerbook. It was advertised with 10.5 but arrived with 10.4. So in the end I really lucked out.
The advice is correct, search eBay, Amazon and what not, keep your eyes out for a full retail install and do not pay the horrid prices many are asking.

If so is there anything apple would do? Or maybe insurance? Household insurance? Any estimates on the price of repair if needed?

The screen itself will cost you somewhere around $100-150, and getting someone to install it may set you back around $250. There are several vendors who provide parts and how-to videos online.
Apple just covers problems relating to failed components under warranty, but not broken or damaged items. It's possible that your household insurance will cover this kind of damage, but most insurers cover portables separately. Check your policy.

Can/Will Apple help me with Activation Lock?

My mom gave me an iPad Air for my birthday last year. It was store bought from the US (I have the receipt and the box still). 2 nights ago, my iPad wouldnt sync with my Photostream. I tried turning photostream on and off but nothing. So I did a factory reset. Upon tapping on the "Reset All Contents and Settings" I got a notification from my device saying I should turn off my "Find My iPhone" so I did. When it had finished, I tried setting it up again and when I got to the activation page, it wouldnt accept my Apple ID. I checked via iCloud and saw that my device was still linked to my account but I couldnt remove it via "Find My iPhone" because the device wouldnt show up on the page.

I just went through that only I bought mine off ebay from a third party. I was lucky that the previous owner did not wipe her info. which luckily I made a mental note of a few things before doing the same thing you did, update and restore, wiped it but left it locked. took me a week to finally get the original owner to trust me. I don't blame her, a stranger claiming to have their old ipad with her password still on it wanting her to clear it on icloud wasn't an easy sell. But I got lucky and she cleared it from her icloud for me, pheeww! Bottom line you will need to... either remember the password or have the original copy of the receipt for the original purchase of the person who's password is in the ipad, other than that, I have 1 word for ya.... Parts!
