Will apple let me exchange for an unlocked iphone 3gs?

I just bought an iphone 3GS online , but I restored it and found out that it was unlocked by jailbreaking
it's currently locked to the at&t network. I need it to work for chatr (or roger?)
Is it possible that I can exchange for an unlocked one if i pay the service fee?
because I don't want to buy a new one, and i don't want to jailbreak it again either
I just wanted to buy something for my dad, even though it's used. I made my dad very happy, but now he can't use it, and I feel like an idiot...

Bought online from whom?  I assume NOT from Apple, since in order to get an AT&T locked phone, you would have to purchase from the US Apple Store, meaning you would be in the US and would not need to use a network like Rogers.
No, you can not exchange a phone you bought on the gray market for anything.
AT&T offers unlocking now. Call them and find out if the phone qualifies. If it does, then they will unlock it.
WARNING: Jailbreaking/hacking an iPhone can permanently alter it. It may not be possible now to legitimately unlock it.
If you bought it from e-bay, etc. and it was recently enough, return it for a refund. If it was advertised as unlocked, then the seller misrepresented it.

  • Will Apple let me exchange my ipod because of scratching?

    Will apple let me exchange my 60 gb white ipod which is 1 week and 2 days old because of the numerous scratches it has accumalated? If not what could I say for a reason.

    Well, mine was not treated badly and it was scratched enough that within a week parts of the screen became hard to read. Did I drop it? No. Did I put it face down on some hard surface? No. Are they a bunch of hard, deep scratches on it? No.
    Mine is full of lighter abrasions from being in my pocket, with nothing else in my pocket besides it (and with or without the lame leather pouch). NOWHERE in the 5G iPods' packaging does it say, "WARNING: This new iPod scratches VERY easily - so go out and figure out some protective shrinkwrap-like shield to put over it or don't take it anywhere." I had a 4G B&W iPod which got stolen and for the time I had it was fairly sturdy. I assumed this replacement would be the same. I even put the 4G's iSkin over this new one, but with the screen not being protected it was pretty much useless.
    After a few days I went to the Apple Store to voice my concerns over it. The two guys working on the floor didn't even want to bother with me, saying there was no protective covering for 5G iPods sold at the store nor anything to fix scratches, and that it was tough luck and I just had to live with it. They told me my best bet was going to Home Depot and look for something to clean it. Naturally this made me angry and so I wrote Apple and told them I wanted this replaced. They sent me a box to put it in and I have returned it...so we'll see what they do. Had I known beforehand how completely fragile the front surface is, I wouldn't have even touched the iPod without putting an InvisibleShield over it. But how was I to know? I'm not clairvoyant nor do I spend hours reading iPod bulletin boards.
    If Apple wants these video iPods to be truly mobile and not just sit there on someone's desk, they should atleast tell buyers about the scratching problem - either on the box, in the instruction pamphlet, or online when they register. It's not fair for consumers to find out this problem the hard way and then the seller would turn around and go, "Well, sorry, even though you just spent $400, we can't do anything about that."
    Just sayin...

  • Will Apple let me exchange my iPhone 6 for the iPhone 6 plus?

    I bought my iPhone 6 about a month ago at the Apple Store (unlocked, full price), now I feel like I should've bought the 6 plus instead since I use my phone for watching movies/videos a lot. Does Apple let people exchange phones and just pay the difference? Basically my phone is still new just wish I would've bought the 6 plus???

    Sell your 6 and use the proceeds to buy the 6+.

  • Will Apple let me exchange at no aditional cost?

    I bought a new iMac 2weeks ago and now theres an upgrade.  It never fails!  I buy too early. WIll Apple let me upgrade to the newest model?

    What upgrade are you referring to? I had not heard of a new iMac being released?
    edit: never mind - just saw the announcement........
    You can return yours within 14 days and buy the new one when available.

  • Will Apple let me swap for a white phone?

    I'm getting a bit irritated with how much the paint chips on the black iPhone 5 stick out like a sore thumb. A friend of mine has a white iPhone 5 and the scuffs show a lot less on the white phone than they do on the black iPhone.
    Question is this: Would Apple let me swap my black iPhone 5 for a white iPhone 5?

    Thanks for the support, blueman.
    I'm going to be heading to a local Apple Store tonight to see if they'll replace my black iPhone with another black phone. I'll give it one more go and will make a decision by next week if it's something I'm willing to keep until next year's device comes out.
    You're right, though, unfortunately the biggest issue right now is store availability and all of the Apple Stores in my area are bone dry. Getting them to hold a white iPhone 5 without re-purchashing it would be a virtual impossibility, I feel.
    But as long as I'm still within my return period, I think I'll be okay. We'll see what happens with this new unit, should they actually give me a new one tonight.

  • HT1665 when will apple be selling accessories for the IPhone 5

  • Will Apple let me trade in my Iphone 3GS and let me pay extra for a Iphone 4S

    Will Apple let me trade in my Iphone 3GS and let me pay extra for a Iphone 4S

    As the others have said, Apple does not take trade-ins. In a few countries, however, Apple does work with a company who will give you some return on an existing device; for the US, see:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/
    Similar programs are available in a few other countries, and some dealers may have their own trade-in programs. But you most probably can get more for your iPhone 3GS if you sell it yourself.

  • I bought an factory unlocked iphone 3gs at the apple store today and just ordered a sim card activation kit and a 30 dollar minute card for it. the sim will work in the unlocked iphone am i correct?

    i bought an factory unlocked iphone 3gs at the apple store today and just ordered a sim card activation kit and a 30 dollar minute card for it. the sim will work in the unlocked iphone am i correct? and i can use messaging on it right?

    If T-Mobile in the US, while your phone will activate/work, you won't have FaceTime, MMS or 3G. T-Mobile, in the US, is not a supported iPhone carrier, thus all features of the iPhone may not be available. T-Mobile's 3G network, in the US, is not compatible with the iPhone.

  • Will Apple cover my factory unlocked iphone 3GS anywhere in the world?

    Hello,
    I'm planning on buying a factory unlocked iphone 3GS directly from the Apple Store in Hong Kong.
    Will Apple cover my iphone with the warranty worldwide or only in Hong Kong?
    Thank you.

    What I meant to say is that technically, hardware-wise, almost all iphones 3GS are the same (I believe the models in mainland China don't have GPS?).
    It's no WiFi in China. GPS used to be illegal in Egypt, but they changed the law recently.
    Correct me if I'm wrong but I suppose that the carrier lock is a software lock, which can be removed (we've all heard about it), but gets reversed once you update to a new OS version.
    Carriers can ask Apple to unlock particular phones. The next time the iPhone is restored via iTunes, new firmware will be downloaded from Apple and will display a message saying it has been unlocked. It will stay unlocked if updated. Unofficial unlocks (which can not be done on current iPhones) will re-lock if the iPhone is updated.
    I know it is the way it is, but I believe most of you would agree that if you buy a telephone, you shouldn't be forced to go with one carrier or another. That is why when I pay for an unlocked phone, I pay much more, go get the freedom (without hacks) to choose the carrier I want (where in contrast I pay much less for calls and internet than with the exclusive iphone carrier).
    It would be much easier for Apple if all iPhones were unlocked, and the same in all countries, but the carriers make a fortune from their exorbitant roaming charges, so where the country's laws allow, insist that Apple not make any unlocked iPhones available in their countries.
    By the way, MMS is not something most people use. There are some statistics on the internet about the ratio of SMS to MMS and it was something like 10 to 1.
    All the 3G and 3GS iPhones are capable of MMS, but the carriers have to support it.

  • In the future time lets say a month will apple let us go back to ios 6?

    A question to apple HQ. Do you want your apple customers to be happy and not disapointed with the new updates. Or maybe they just want their old version that they liked back on there iphone. If you like to keep loyal and satisfide customers would you make them happy?
    Out of all the people i know, only about one third of them actually like the newest update (ios7)
    I am not making a biased report based on my opinions. i am simply trying to provoke apple to let us download and restore our iphones to the version we previously had, and if you like ios7 so be it keep it.
    If apple would let their customers choose between the new updates and the old, A lot of people would be satisfide and they would want to stick with apple. and when a new update come out you can choose to upgrade or downgrade. Isnt it our freedom to choose the update we want?  yes I chose to update, and maybe i dont like it, but will apple let their customers, like me, choose what they want to be happy?  Will apple let us go back to what we want?

    1)  This is a User to User Forum.
    You can leave Feedback for Apple here  >  http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    2)  Apple does Not support downgrading... never has.

  • Will Apple Let Me Do This?

    Ok Tommorrow My Mom Is Going On A Buisness Trip, And Im On An Voice Plan With My Parents. Will Apple Let Me Sign A Contract And Use My Cash To Buy An iPhone With Like A Letter And Her And My ID Without Her Being There? Ill Have Everything You Need. Ill Get A Letter With Her Giving Me Permission And Show It To Them lol. Will They Let Me Do This Possibly? Because Tommorrow Is The Last Day For Two Weeks I Will Be Able To Get An iPhone Because Im Going To Camp.
    Thanks!
    -Jeremy

    I had this problem as well. My parents are on vacation but before they did I told my dad to call ATT to authorize me on the account. They put my name on their system so now whenever I call or go to ATT store I can purchase phone/change plans and such without my dad being there. The only problem...at the moment I dont think they allow this at the Apple Store!! But they do at any att stores. So if you are lucky to find an ATT branch around you that has iphones still in stock then go right in, call your parents to authorize you (you can do through 611)
    Heres through my experience as I am not completely sure about the apple stores. I was waiting in line at the att store nearby my house, there were so many people I was getting frustrated, by the time it was my turn they were already out of stock with 16gb so they told me I could come back the next day since they were going to get deliveries. Frustrated I called my local Apple Store and asked if I could buy my iphone there they said that the person who has the account open must be the one, I called ATT they said the Apple store should allow me since I am authorized, you know what I didnt even wanna deal with it I just waited the next day to go back to the ATT branch near me, and I got it with no problems.

  • When will Apple allow background processes for the iPhone?

    Can't find a suitable subforum so I'll post it here, please refer me to the correct Apple forum otherwise.
    When will Apple allow background processes for the iPhone?
    When will Apple allow Alerts from 3rd party apps?
    Even my first Palm Pilot allowed developers to use Alert beeps.
    Why is Apple crippling the iPhone?
    If they continue this, Android will be the winner.
    Or will the next SDK allow this?

    Background processing, simply won't. They already said they won't and explained why.
    However, they are currently adding "Push" ability to developers (soon). Originally they did say they were shooting for Sept (but obviously that has passed). Nobody can say "why" it is late or when it will come. Just know it is coming.
    Push in case you don't know will let a service (one service) run in the background that apple makes for the phone. that service will ping apple's servers. Apps that want to "run" in the background have to register with that service thus lets say AIM is on your phone, you send a message and close...somebody responds. AIM's servers will send notification to the push service...then the phone will alert you of a notification in the AIM app, you open (thus starts the app again) and it gets the message.

    Farooq,
    If you look at the first one, you should be able to align quite easily as follows, View>Smart Guides being your friends:
    1a) ClickDrag the top flower with the Selection Tool (black arrow) so it is clear of the pointy part;
    1b) Click an empty spot on the Artboard to deselect, then ClickDrag the top flower by its bottom Anchor Point (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough to grab it) down to snap to the top Anchor Point on the pointy part (Smart Guides say anchor when you are close enough);
    1c) Do the same for the boroom flower.
    If you look at the third one, to get the triangles and the hexagon sized and aligned precisely, you may, creating them with stroke and no fill:
    3a) Click with the Polygon Tool and select a suitable/chosen Radius and 6 Sides, then Object>Transform>Rotate by 30 degrees (or use the Rotate option in the Transform palette), you may Object>Transform>Reset Bounding Box to have it look nicer;
    3b) Click with the Polygon Tool and select the same Radius and 3 sides, then deselect and ClickDrag the top Anchor Point to snap to the top Anchor Point of the hexagon;
    3c) Object>Transform>Rotate by 180 degrees clicking Copy, deselect, and ClickDrag the bottom Anchor Point to snap to the bottomAnchor Point of the hexagon;
    3d) Select all and Ctrl/Cmd+G to Group (for alignment purposes, you will know why if you try without grouping, see below).
    To create full symmetry, you may use circles rather than almost circular ellipses; you may:
    3d) Click with the Ellipse Tool and select a suitable/chosen Width = height;
    3e) Object>Transform>Move a copy vertically by the Height (= Width) twice (or you may Ctrl/Cmd+D to repeat), to get three circles over one another with no gaps;
    3f) Select the topmost and bottommost ones and Object>Transform>Rotate a copy by 120 degrees twice, to have all the seven circles precisley touching one another; you may Group them, but it is not necessary.
    To have everything aligned, just:
    3g) Select everything and click Vertical Align Center and Horizontal Align Center in the Align palette; you may click the pointy group or the circles ojnce more before aligning if you want to keep it in place (that will make it the key object that the other set is aligned to).
    These ways may also help you further.
    Edit: About half an hour after midnight here. High time to attend to other duties, before the sun is up.

  • I smashed the screen of my iphone 5 earlier and it was bought just before christmas, i was wondering will apple repair the screen for free or swap the phone?

    i smashed the screen of my iphone 5 earlier and it was bought just before christmas, i was wondering will apple repair the screen for free or swap the phone? the phone is still working fine, just the screen needs changing by the looks of it.

    Why would Apple replace or repair the phone for free? Will a car manufacturer replace or repair the car you drove into a wall for free? If you sit on your spectacles, will the optician give you another pair for free?
    You can get an out of warranty replacement phone for $199 in the US, similar price in your local currency.
